YMMV items don't belong on creator pages.

* AwesomeDearBoy: A big reason he signed on for ''Franchise/MassEffect'' was that he's a big fan of actors like Creator/KeithDavid, Creator/JenniferHale, Creator/SethGreen, and Creator/LanceHenriksen and thought it was awesome to work with them.

* UnexpectedCharacter: A casting example. He originally auditioned to voice background characters in the first ''Mass Effect'' game, and was surprised when the producers asked him to voice the main character.[[invoked]]

* ActingForTwo: He voices not only Male!Shepard, but several different aliens within the trilogy. This can result in playthroughs with Male!Shepard talking to another character who is also portrayed by Meer, with one of the most memorable interactions being "Because he's a [[Memes/MassEffect Big Stupid Jellyfish]]!"

* ManOfAThousandVoices: His range is quite versatile, to say the least. He was originally hired by [=BioWare=] for ''Mass Effect'' to come up with the alien voices. Even though [=BioWare=] was impressed enough with him to hire him as the male Commander Shepard voice, he still voices several aliens in the trilogy, all of whom sound considerably different from his Shepard voice. This leads to plenty of TalkingToHimself within the trilogy for all the Male!Shepard players, with one of the most memorable moments being "Because he's a [[MemeticMutation Big Stupid Jellyfish]]!"

And Paragon Shepard is a total nice guy. It's pretty much less about the character and more up to player, so I don't think it's accurate to call Shepard either a nice or jerkish character.

* MeanCharacterNiceActor: Renegade Shepard is a jerk, Mark Meer is one of the sweetest guys you'll ever meet. He's thrown himself wholeheartedly into Mass Effect fandom, participated in everything from [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KviyQPyOyH8 student fan films]] to [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhjvtxtq5wc readings of songs about his character]], even [[http://www.edmontonsun.com/2013/01/03/edmonton-actor-mark-meer-supporting-sandy-hook-charity helped raise money for the victims of Sandy Hook]]

Trivia.

* OneOfUs: He loves ''Mass Effect'', and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xcCaw-23LE always plays the games as both a Paragon and a Renegade.]] He's cosplayed as Commander Shepard at several different conventions. He's also well-versed in many of the [[Memes/BioWare memes]] spawned by the series.
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Creator/JenniferHale.
* PromotedFanboy: Kind of. While he obviously wasn't a fan of ''Franchise/MassEffect'' when he was chosen for the role of Shepard, he's a big fan of actors like Creator/KeithDavid, Creator/JenniferHale, Creator/SethGreen, and Creator/LanceHenriksen and thought it was awesome to work with them.
* TalkingToHimself: Happens from time to time, given how he voices so many minor characters. In ''Franchise/MassEffect'', whenever Male!Shepard talks to a Hanar, a Vorcha, or a few other characters, this trope comes into play.
