Lionel Christopher Suggs was born on 8 August 1989, in Baltimore, Maryland, to a single African American mother.
Lionel has been writing stories since he was young, but it wasn't until middle school that he watched YuYu Hakusho, which inspired him to write his own books.
When he was in the 8th grade, he published his first amateur book series, Prophecy, of which, 6 books were written, with a few of the chapters published in school newspaper articles. After that Lionel decided to write a book that he would publish, and that book was called The Limits of Power, which was written when he was around the 9th and 10th grades. He also wrote poetry for a while, and some, like Prophecy, were published in the school newspaper.
Heir to the Stars, commonly referred to as the Suggsverse, was written in 2008, with the goal of recreating his previous stories, and finally publishing it outside of a school newspaper.
One year later, he was involved in the Get Backers Deception, which took place in The Outskirts Battle Dome. It was this incident that made Lionel Suggs realize the value of technical terms and research, along with changing the way he writes.
