Kevin Conroy (November 30, 1955-) is an American actor. Becoming a professional actor in the 1970s, Conroy has performed in numerous productions over the years, particularly in theatre.

Then he became the goddamn Franchise/Batman.

Beginning with WesternAnimation/BatmanTheAnimatedSeries, Conroy lent his voice to the iconic character and hasn't looked back since. His performances as Batman are often lauded, especially the manner in which he is able to vocally portray Batman and Bruce Wayne as two different people. He would continue to play the role of the Dark Knight every time he appeared in the DCAU DC Animated Universe, a continuity which includes WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries, WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond, WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague as well as numerous Batman-related games. Conroy reprises his role in WesternAnimation/BatmanGothamKnight, WesternAnimation/SupermanBatmanPublicEnemies, WesternAnimation/SupermanBatmanApocalypse, VideoGame/BatmanArkhamAsylum, VideoGame/BatmanArkhamCity, WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueDoom, VideoGame/InjusticeGodsAmongUs, WesternAnimation/BatmanAssaultOnArkham, and WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueAction. Though he did not reprise his role as Batman in Arkham Asylum[='=]s prequel VideoGame/BatmanArkhamOriginsCreator/RogerCraigSmith took over the role in order to portray a younger, less experienced Batman, he did return for Arkham City[='=]s sequel, VideoGame/BatmanArkhamKnight.

To date, he has portrayed Batman more than any other actor, voice or live-action, to have assumed the role this is mirrored by Creator/MarkHamill as SelfDemonstrating/TheJoker, also in many of the above works.

Some of his other roles include Captain Sunshine on WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers,Which was itself a parodic mashup of Batman, ComicBook/Superman, and Music/MichaelJackson and various characters from both VideoGame/MaxPayne and VideoGame/JakAndDaxter.
!! "I am vengeance, I am the tropes, I AM BATMAN!"

* BadassBaritone: The reason why he's so revered as Batman.
* ClusterFBomb: Has a rather colorful vocabulary in real life.
* CoolOldGuy: John Houseman, who accepted him into Julliard and directed him in Theatre/KingLear after he graduated. Nothing like his role in Film/ThePaperChase.
** Also, Kevin himself.
* CulturedBadass: Loves Shakespearian theatre and compared Batman to Theatre/Hamlet. It is where he got his start, after all.
* TheDeterminator: His father was a "functioning" alcoholic and lost control of his drinking shortly after the family moved from Long Island to Connecticut. Kevin graduated high school at 17, then was accepted into Julliard. He survived a horrible review of Theatre/KingLear (he played Edgar).
* IAmNotSpock: Trope. Conroy loves being Batman and doesn't mind the typecast.
* InkSuitActor: Had Conroy discovered Batman twelve years earlier, all he had to do was dye his hair black and he could've played a live-action Batman.
* MeanCharacterNiceActor: Conroy is much nicer and laid-back than the character that he is known for.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Turned 60 in 2015 and looks pretty good for his age.
* RaisedCatholic: Attended Catholic School for several years, though it's unknown if he still practices.
* TakeThat: Let's just say he didn't appreciate Donald Trump calling himself Batman.
* VocalEvolution: Batman started off with a deep, growling voice while Bruce Wayne had a higher, more playful voice. From WesternAnimation/TheNewBatmanAdventures onwards, Conroy made his Batman voice higher, without the growl and spoke in that same tone as Bruce Wayne. It wasn't entirely his decision, though. He mentions in Film/IKnowThatVoice that he was fairly new to voice acting when first taking on Batman and he performed that voice not knowing how difficult it would be on his vocal chords, so he had to figure out a way to emulate the same effect without injuring himself. He did do a voice similar to his original Batman voice once for Harley Quinn's Revenge.
