Daniel Wroughton Craig (born in Chester on 2 March 1968) is a British actor. His movie career took off with appearances in the classic MiniSeries Series/OurFriendsInTheNorth and Series/Sharpe, and movies such as Film/Elizabeth and Film/LayerCake, but he's now going to be known for one role:

Bond. Film/JamesBond.

Cast in the role for the 2006 reboot of the franchise in Film/2006, he reprised the role in 2008's Film/QuantumOfSolace, 2012's Film/Skyfall, 2015's Film/Spectre and a (supposedly) final Bond film in 2019 (13 years since his debut, dethroning Creator/RogerMoore as the longest-serving Bond actor, whose tenure lasted 12 years). He was also used as the design base and voice of Bond in VideoGame/BloodStone, the Film/QuantumOfSolace tie-in video game, and the remake of the GoldenEye 007 game for the Wii. He also escorted none other than UsefulNotes/HMTheQueen in a short film for the London Olympics opening ceremony.

Despite being known primarily for Bond, Craig has had major roles in a number of other films, including: Angelina Jolie's love interest / rival in Film/LaraCroftTombRaider (2001), Irish mobster Conner Rooney in Film/RoadToPerdition (2002), Afrikaner Mossad team member Steve in the Spielberg directed Film/Munich (2005), Lord Asriel in the film adaptation of The Golden Compass (2007), Dr. Ben Driscoll in Film/TheInvasion (2007), Jewish resistance leader Tuvia Bielski in Film/Defiance (2008), protagonist Jake Lonergan of Film/CowboysAndAliens (2011), journalist Mikael Blomkvist in the Creator/DavidFincher adaption of Film/TheGirlWithTheDragonTattoo, Mr. Sakharine / Red Rackham in the Dream Production Team motion capture film adaption of WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfTintin and DeepSouth DemolitionsExpert Joe Bang in Film/LoganLucky.

He also has had a long and healthy career as a stage actor, including playing Joe in the Royal National Theatre's production of Theatre/AngelsInAmerica in addition to starring in Broadway productions of A Steady Rain (opposite Creator/HughJackman) and Harold Pinterís Betrayal. He returned to the stage for an off Broadway production of Theatre/Othello in December 2016/January 2017, playing Iago opposite David Oyelowo as the title character.

Daniel Craig is one of us, being a self-described "old hand Trekkie", as well as being a fan of Series/Firefly and, of course, Series/DoctorWho. He tried for the role of Montgomery Scott in the Creator/JJAbrams Trek film, but lost it to Creator/SimonPegg. It was also his idea to have "Orinoco Flow" playing over a certain key scene in Dragon Tattoo.

He married Creator/RachelWeisz in June 2011.

On an unrelated sidenote, he has been said to resemble UsefulNotes/Russian President UsefulNotes/VladimirPutin, and more bizarrely, Deborah Meaden from Series/DragonsDen. On a further unrelated sidenote, it's been shown as canon that he is Buffy and Faith's fantasy guy.

!! Tropes found im his works:

* BadassBaritone: He has a deep and very smooth voice. Pretty suitable for the role of 007.
* CreatorCouple: Starred with his wife Creator/RachelWeisz in Dream House.
* DoingItForTheArt: Not to the level of Tom Cruise, but Craig doesn't mind doing some particularly dangerous stunts, case in point being the train brawl in Film/Skyfall.
* DyeingForYourArt:
** Got into great shape for Film/CasinoRoyale2006, though wouldn't dye his hair for the role.
** Gained thirty pounds for the American remake of Film/TheGirlWithTheDragonTattoo so he would look less like James Bond.
* FakeAmerican: A few roles - Film/TheJacket, Film/LaraCroftTombRaider, Film/CowboysAndAliens, Logan Lucky.
* FakeNationality: South African in Munich and Russian in .
* IcyBlueEyes: Like lasers.
* OneOfUs: invoked Self-described "Trekkie", "Browncoat," and "Whovian." He'd love to film a scene of Bond regenerating. He even had a cameo in The Force Awakens! He also loves video games such as Halo and Guitar Hero, to name a couple of examples.
* PromotedFanboy:
** A fan of Literature/HisDarkMaterials, he got to star as Lord Azriel in Film/TheGoldenCompass.
** Also a fan of the VideoGame/TombRaider games, he starred in the film adaptations.
* StarMakingRole: While he had some recognition beforehand, he was catapulted to household name status with Film/CasinoRoyale2006.
* ThoseTwoActors:
** He's starred with Ben Whishaw in two Bond films (Skyfall and Spectre), and Film/LayerCake, The Trench and Enduring Love.
** Starred with Eva Green in Film/CasinoRoyale2006 and Film/TheGoldenCompass.
* ThrowItIn: The famous scene in Film/CasinoRoyale2006 of him rising out of the water just happened when he walked into a sand dune and had to stand up.
* UncreditedRole:
** He was an extra in Series/CovingtonCross, playing a guard.
** He has a brief uncredited cameo in Film/TheForceAwakens.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: He replaced Creator/RobertDowneyJr in Film/CowboysAndAliens. Additionally he suggested Eva Green for the female lead. Eva turned the role down and Creator/OliviaWilde was cast instead.
