Ibson Dana Elcar (October 10, 1927 – June 6, 2005) was an American actor and television director best known for his appearances in such films as The Sting and 2010: The Year We Make Contact and for his role as Peter Thornton on the series MacGyver (1985).
He was married to Kathryn Frances Mead, Mary Margaret 'Peggy' Romano, and Marianne Torrance and had three children, one with Romano and two with Torrance.
Elcar was blind for the last decade and a half of his life due to glaucoma. He died in 2005 at the age of 77 of complications from pneumonia.
