Chloé Zhao (born Zhào Tíng (赵婷) on March 31, 1982) is a Chinese filmmaker.

She is best known for her 2020 film Nomadland, the winner of three Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. With the latter, Zhao became the second woman (as well as the first Asian woman and first woman of color) in Oscar history to win that award. For her multiple wins as director, writer, editor, and producer of Nomadland from other voting bodies, she also became the most awarded person during a single season in modern history, surpassing Alexander Payne for Sideways in 2004/2005.

Zhao's other notable credits include 2017's The Rider, and 2021's Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster Eternals. She is notably the first Best Director Academy Award winner to helm an MCU film (and the second nominee to do so, after Kenneth Branagh with Thor.).
