Silk is a 2023 comic book limited series from Marvel Comics. It's written by Emily Kim, with art by Ig Guara and color art by Ian Herring.

Set in the shared Marvel Universe, it's one of several series starring Cindy Moon, the titular Silk, a superhero who was bitten by the same radioactive spider as Spider-Man, developing similar powers. Unlike Spider-Man, Cindy then spent a decade in isolation within a hidden bunker - which has left her struggling with some social skills, as she missed much of her normal teenage life.

Now, though, she's a detective in Los Angeles, decades in the past... but wait, how did that happen? Something very strange is going on with Cindy's life, and reality's not what it used to be. If she doesn't work out the truth quickly enough, things could go very badly for her...

The first issue was released May 10, 2023.

Silk (2023) contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Broken Masquerade: Each time Cindy realises that she's not living her real life, her surroundings reset to a new place and time.
  • Film Noir: Cindy starts the series in Los Angeles, decades in the past. It's night, she's a detective investigating a kidnapped child, and she's exploiting the conflict between different gangs of crooks. The art and plot are very much in a noir style.
  • Lotus-Eater Machine: The First-Episode Twist is that Cindy's actually an unconscious prisoner. Her life as a Film Noir detective is a dream world she's trapped in, and at least partly programmed by her captors.
  • Psycho Psychologist: As seen in previous comics, Cindy's former therapist is actually the brother of one of her enemies. He seems to be assisting his sister, and his files have helped her to create a stronger dream world to trap the unconscious Cindy.
  • Variant Cover: The first issue has seven variant covers as well as the standard version, including one image by Peach Momoko (available with or without title text). All of them focus on Silk herself. One, following a theme used in variants for other Marvel comics, shows Silk partially obscured by window blinds.
