Isom is a superhero comic book created by Eric D. July, Cliff Richards, and Gabe Eltaeb, and published via July's Rippaverse Comics. It was crowdfunded and released in 2022, and it is the first entry in a Shared Universe, the "Rippaverse" (named after July's YouTube alias, YoungRippa59).

Avery Silman was once an entry-level hero named Isom, protecting the city of Florespark, Texas, but certain events caused him to leave his career behind and become a rancher out in the country. However, the disappearance of a woman from his past and a chance encounter with former friend Darren Fontano cause him to take up his costume once more.

This series contains examples of:

  • Achilles in His Tent: The series opens with Avery sulking on his ranch.
  • Differently Powered Individual: In the Rippaverse, people with superpowers are called Excepts.
  • Fatal Flaw: Isom is a very prideful person who can't stand to be talked down to.
  • Mr. Exposition: Much of Isom's backstory is provided by his former friend, Darren Fontano.
  • Tall Poppy Syndrome: Avery's backstory is one of a guy who tried very hard to not stand out, hiding his intellectual and athletic gifts from others, which contrasts sharply with his irritation when Darren talks down to him.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Avery and Darren used to be friends back in their college days, but had a falling-out.
