Genis-Vell: Captain Marvel is a 2022 comic book limited series published by Marvel Comics. It's written by Peter David (who wrote most of the original Genis-Vell Captain Marvel stories) and illustrated by Juanan Ramirez, with color art by Federico Blee.

The series, set in the shared Marvel Universe, revisits the titular Genis-Vell, son of Marvel's original version of Captain Marvel. Genis-Vell used the codename after his father died and starred in three volumes of Captain Marvel comics before the codename was passed on to Carol Danvers.

Genis-Vell's been dead for a long time, only recently returning to life. His friend Rick Jones, who he was linked to by the power of the Nega-Bands, has died and returned in that time. Now that they're back, they want to reassemble their lives - for Rick, that means finding his wife Marlo. For Genis, it means recovering lost memories and facing some old foes.

The first issue was released July 27, 2022. The final issue (#5) was released November 23, 2022.

Genis-Vell: Captain Marvel contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Anachronic Order: The story from Halvacenter, before Rick and Genis died, is woven through the current events.
  • The Bus Came Back: Jazinda, the immortal Skrull who was a supporting character in Peter David's She-Hulk run, makes her first appearance in many years.
  • Death Is Cheap: Rick isn't too surprised to be back. He even made a point of planning ahead a couple of years on his rent, just in case.
Tony Stark: —Rick?! I thought you had died!
Rick Jones: Yeah, like that ever lasts.
  • Deity of Human Origin: Marlo eventually becomes the new version of Death.
  • Deuteragonist: As with some of the original Peter David comics, ‘’Captain Marvel'' may be in the title, but Rick gets an equal share of the story.
  • Driven to Suicide: Ironically, Death herself has grown tired of being feared and hated by all that lives and is willing to let herself be captured and killed by the Kree.
  • Genre Savvy: Rick wanders down a street, passing someone installing an air conditioner a couple of floors up, and sees a man walking the other way in headphones. He intercepts and delays him for a second - and the falling air conditioner hits where he would have been standing.
Rick Jones: There's a guy installing an air conditioner. He's gonna drop it because of course he will.
