Welcome to a world of transforming robots and real American Heroes.

In 2023 Image Comics released a seemingly-original comic titled Void Rivals, written by Robert Kirkman. Near the end of the first issue, the main characters repair an abandoned spacecraft, which turned out to be a giant robot named Jetfire. Image now had the comic license to Transformers (which was formerly owned by IDW Publishing) and G.I. Joe.

All three properties will now have their own Shared Universe with Kirkman effectively acting as the showrunner.

List of series so far:

Tropes found across all books

  • Darker and Edgier: The entire universe is essentially a much more mature take on the classic Sunbow cartoons for Transformers and G.I. Joe.
  • MacGuffin Title: Energon plays a HUGE role throughout the books. The inhabitants of the Sacred Ring are implied to run on it, Cybertron desperately needs it, and Cobra’s plans for world domination revolve around acquiring it.
  • Myth Arc: Seems to have one revolving around the awakening of the Autobots and Decepticons on Earth and the subsequent discovery of the alien energy source known as Energon.
  • Running Theme: Conflict, particularly when it’s between two factions and when it's over resources.
