Central Academia

     Central Academia

Academia

The Fusion Dimension's main Duel Academia. They are major antagonists of the series, who make it their life's mission of attacking other dimensions and sealing their victims into cards. A majority of the characters shown from this dimension are quite sadistic, treating their heinous actions as a "hunting game" and laughing about the destruction that they cause. Those who aren't overly sadistic are instead fulfilling the mission they were given out of fear.

     Leo Akaba

Archetype: Spirit

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/823560ae468942851d42e4102b556dd0.png

Reiji's father, who three years ago went to the Fusion Dimension, where he became the Professor, the head of Academia. He is the instigator of the interdimensional war with the intent to unite all dimensions and revive his daughter Ray. He is one of the survivors of the United World.

  • Foil: To Yuya. Both lost people that were important in their lives and aim to bring them back. However, the methods they take to do so couldn't be more different.

     Samejima

Samejima

The original owner of Central Academia before Leo Akaba came along, and the one who brought Yuya and his brothers together to form the Dragon Soldier Squad.

     Sora Shiunin

Sora Shiunin

Archetype: Death-Toy

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/yu_gi_oh__arc_v_sora_shiunin_by_theuzitos_dfvch74_fullview.jpg

A resident of the Fusion Dimension. He first appeared before Yuya as an annoying stalker, dubbing himself his pupil. Yuya reluctantly dueled with him, during which Sora's true nature was revealed. After the duel, he was denied enrollment and kicked out.

  • Sadist: He takes great pleasure in inflicting harm on whoever he duels.
  • Sore Loser: Does not take losing very likely, especially to Xyz Duelists.
  • Stalker without a Crush: Acts like this towards Yuya after Yoko takes him in. Yuya does not approve one bit.

     Dennis Macfield

Dennis Macfield

Archetype: Entermage

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/736dc1ec3f517109b21f87eeed37bd9f.png

A resident of the Fusion Dimension, he was originally on Academia's side only to defect after indirectly causing the invasion of Heartland.

  • Adaptational Heroism: Dennis proves himself to be this after deciding to defect from the Academia troops.
  • The Atoner: He definitely feels shame for greenlighting Academia's invasion of the Xyz Dimension.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/3183ec751f5255f4c79828c3bd1ecf7f.png

One of the few survivors of the split of the United World. Before the split, he was the Duel Monsters Champion, and, per an agreement between Leo Corporation and Sakaki Incorporated, arranged to be married to Leo Akaba's daughter Ray. During a Duel Monsters training camp, he was defeated by newcomer Zarc, causing Ray to favour him instead. They became rivals, and years later he was defeated again during a Title match.

Hell Kaiser Ryo

Archetype: Cyber

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hellkaiser_duli.png

  • Ambiguously Evil: By Part 3, he appears to be this. At the beginning of the overall story, it seems he supports Leo Akaba's ARC Area Project (as he leads his squad in the invasion of Heartland, and duels Shun and Kaito in a rather ruthless manner), but when he duels Yuya, he has fun. Eventually it's revealed during his duel against Leo that he never supported Leo's plans and only acted the way he did to inspire the Academia soldiers to do the same, and inspire those he dueled previously to not rely on anger and violence to succeed in the war.
  • Stealth Mentor: Kaiser is shown to be this toward Shun and Kaito.
