Warships attributed to the Royal Netherlands Navy (Koninklijke Marine) in World of Warships.

Netherlands is the twelfth faction to be introduced. The first Dutch ship in the game, Destroyer Friesland, was added to the game in September 2019, as a part of the European nation. Later, De Zeven Provinciën was added as the first ship of the tree proper. Actual Dutch Cruiser line was released in September 2021.

Dutch tech tree consists of stealthy and sturdy ships, that heavily rely on their special weapon - Airstrike, which can be used to call in a squad of planes to drop parachute-descending HE bombs on the marked area. However, it's impossible to reroute them if player's initial aim was off. They also have Hydroacoustic Search and good AA, with stronger Sector Reinforcement. However, their main battery is rather weak, and has short range. Their high-tier cruisers also suffer from prolonged fire and flooding duration.

Researchable ships

    Dutch Cruisers
Dutch Cruiser line starts off as Light Cruisers, but at Tier VIII suddenly turn into Heavy Cruisers with completly different gameplay. They, however, share their special weapon - airstrike. Starting with Tier VI all Dutch cruisers can call a squad or two of special bombers, that drop parachute-descending HE bombs on the marked area. Unlike carrier squads, airstrike doesn't require direct player control, but it's impossible to change the direction of the strike if player's initial aim was off.
  • Anti-Air: While their actual AA is not overly strong, these ships has a boosted Sector Reinforcement, that allows them to concentrate 175% (instead of 150%) of their continuous damage on one side of the ship. Starting at Tier VIII they also gain Defensive AA Fire consumable.
  • Death from Above: Good chunk of their damage potential comes from their airstrike. Well-placed airstrike can be just as dangerous as a full CV squad.
  • Irony: Airstrike was created in part to punish excessive bow-tanking near islands. High-tier Dutch Cruisers are themseves quite good in this strategy.
  • Unexpected Gameplay Change: From rapid-fire Light to BFG-packing Heavy Cruisers at Tier VIII

Van Kinsbergen

Tier I Dutch Cruiser. Van Kinsbergen was a sloop, built for Royal Netherlands Navy and comissioned in 1939. She served throughout WWII under British and American command, and was decommissioned in 1959. The ship is notable for her demonstration of 40mm Bofors guns to the Americans, who were so impressed, they decided to use the system for themselves.
  • Starter Equipment: She's automatically added to your port as you load the game for the first time.

Gelderland

Tier II Dutch Cruiser. Gelderland-class was the second series of Holland-class protected cruisers, of which the first was laid down in 1895. Two out of six ships were decommissioned in 1913, and the rest were modernised and served throughout WWI. Gelderland was turned into a training ship, eventually captured by the Germans and finally sunk in WWII.

Java

Tier III Dutch Cruiser. Java was a class of two light cruisers, laid down in 1916. By the end of the war they were already outdated, but nonetheless, they served up until WWII, where Java herself was sunk in the Battle of the Java Sea, while Sumatra was scuttled as a part of the operation Overlord.

De Ruyter

Tier IV Dutch Cruiser. Built in order to help two Java-class cruisers in protection of the Dutch Indies, De Ruyter was designed with as much cost-cutting as possible. As such, she was underpowered compared to light cruisers of other countries. Eventually, she was sunk in the disastrous Battle of the Java Sea.

Celebes

Tier V Dutch Cruiser. First paper ship in the line, Celebes shows how De Ruyter could have turned out, if not for the cost-cutting policy.

Kijkduin

Tier VI Dutch Cruiser. She's an early draft of the De Zeven Provinciën class, and is the first ship in the line to get the Airstrike.

Eendracht

Tier VII Dutch Cruiser. She's the final pre-war design of what would become De Zeven Provinciën class. The ship boasts ten guns that, however, has a longer reload time and shorter range than the final design.

Haarlem

Tier VIII Dutch Cruiser. An early draft of the 1047 project, a heavy cruiser that was considered for the Dutch navy shortly before the WWII.
  • Artistic License – History: Both Haarlem and the next ship in the line, Johan de Witt, are based on the same preliminary variant of project 1047 dated December 1939. The thing is, 203mm guns, that are mounted on Haarlem, were never even considered for the project. Also, power of the engine was boosted in-game from 90000 h.p. to 140000.

Johan de Witt

Tier IX Dutch Cruiser. Another preliminary variant of project 1047, developed in Netherlands before the WWII.
  • BFG: 240mm, the largest researchable cruiser caliber on her tier.

Gouden Leeuw

Tier X Dutch Cruiser. A final variant of project 1047, designed to protect Dutch East Indies from Japan. She was to be laid down in 1940, but outbreak of the WWII halted these plans. Her 283mm guns made the design very close to the german Scharnhorst-class battleships.
  • BFG: 283mm, the very same guns that mounted of Scharnhorst. Due to the size of these guns, modern studies frequently describe the design as a battlecruiser.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Invoked by her legendary module, which gives her a third airstrike slot on a reduced reload time. As a result, a division of three Gouden Leeuw's all mounting this module can absolutely annihilate a ship (and/or burn it to a crisp in short order) with well-aimed and well-timed strikes.

Premium ships

    Dutch Premium Destroyers

Groningen

Tier IX Premium Dutch Destroyer. Groningen, pennant number D813, was one of the eight Friesland-class destroyers. She was laid down in 1952, sold to Peru in 1981, and decommissioned ten years later.

Tromp

Tier X Premium Dutch Destroyer. Tromp was a light cruiser, built for Royal Netherlands Navy in 1936-1938. During WWII she operated in Dutch East Indies, after which returned to Netherlands, served in combat capacity until 1955, and as a trainig ship until 1969. In the game Tromp is classified as a destroyer,
  • Death from Above: Tromp, much like tech-line cruisers, has an Airstrike. The main difference between them is that Tromp's version drops much more bombs, at the cost of lower damage and penetration.
  • Mighty Glacier: This ship is positively leisurely. With 33,5 knots of speed and less-than-great acceleration dynamic, she's one of the slowest destroyers on her Tier, and can be outrun by some battleships. She compensates for it with her Airstrike, which significantly raises her DPM.
    Dutch Premium Cruisers

De Zeven Provinciën

Tier VIII Premium Dutch Cruiser. De Zeven Provinciën-class was a class of two light cruisers, laid down in 1939, but delayed until 1953 due to the war. The in-game premium represents De Zeven Provinciën herself, pennant number C802. She was eventually sold to Peru, where she served until 1999.
