Bill Cipher
- Big Bad: In the Transdimensional Arc and Reincarnation Blues when he finally appears via Ian after the agents said his real name.
- Death by Irony:
- Possessing Dipper as his power fades was a last ditch effort to preserve his own existence. Instead, this kills him and makes Dipper into a demon.
- Bill became human in order to become a physical demon, and being human has all the weird chemicals Bill considers useless. This includes love. After he reveals his plans and deeming Ian as nothing more than a puppet who thinks he's alive for his goal, Ian resurfaces back because his love for Mira proves stronger than the demon. Ian gained the willpower to stop his past self, sealing away the memories of Bill.
- Greater-Scope Villain: He's dead after the Transcendence, but it was his action that resulted in letting all the supernatural out and caused the Transcendence. And possessing Dipper in a desperate attempt to save his own life was what changed Dipper to the demon he his—a life-changing event that haunts Dipper even to this day.
- Unreliable Narrator: In Reincarnation Blues, he reveals to Dipper that his last ditch effort to save his life by possessing Dipper was actually all part of his plan. He planned to get killed so he can enter the reincarnation cycle in order to be reborn as a human — becoming Ian. All so when the time came, he would trick Dipper into doing the same thing; transforming the human Bill (Ian) into a powerful demon who's able to interact the physical world. Given how this is Bill, this should be taken with a grain of salt.
