Sakuragi Family

    Toru Kirishima
Voiced by: Yoshimasa Hosoya (Japanese), Jonah Scott (English)
The "Demon of Sakuragi", one of the top lieutenants in the group and Yaeka's guardian.
  • Became Their Own Antithesis: Once set out to kill all Yakuza only to eventually join the Yakuza.
  • Bruiser with a Soft Center: Despite being near-psychotically violent at his “job”, he is gentle and kind towards Yaeka, even without the threat of Kazuhiko’s wrath to keep him in line.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Kirishima lost both of his parents in his teens, in as-of-yet unrevealed circumstances. Whatever these may be seem to have something to do with the Yakuza.
  • The Dreaded: His nickname of "Demon of Sakuragi" makes it abundantly clear that he is not to be messed with.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Ever since catching wind that Kirishima has taken up babysitting his boss's daughter, Kirishima's opponents rather stupidly assume that he's gone soft and routinely try to get various forms of revenge on him. Predictably, this never ends well for them.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Kirishima goes on one of these after Yaeka is hurt and almost murdered by an organization who has out for him.
    • It's later revealed that this isn't the first time he's done this, and the first time he sought to avenge his deceased parents.

    Yaeka Sakuragi
Voiced by: Misaki Watada (Japanese), Emi Lo (English)
Kazuhiho and Miyuki's young daughter, and Kirishima's charge.
  • Mafia Princess: Her father Kazuhiko is a mob boss. Of course, since she's only only 7, she’s not aware of what his “business” entails exactly.
  • Protectorate: Let's just say that harming Yaeka in any way is equivalent to signing your death warrant, especially if it's to get back at Kirishima.

    Kei Sugihara
Voiced by: Kaito Ishikawa (Japanese), Nazeeh Tarsha (English)
A younger member of the Sakuragi group.
  • Butt-Monkey: If anyone is going to get made fun of or beaten up in the story, it's bound to be Sugihara.

    Kazuhiko Sakuragi
Voiced by: Ryota Takeuchi (Japanese), Christopher Sabat (English)
The Head of the Sakuragi group and Yaeka's father.

    Miyuki Sakuragi
Voiced by: Mai Nakahara (Japanese)
Kazuhiko's wife and Yaeka's mother. By the time the story begins she has been in a coma for years, as a result of a car accident.
  • Parental Substitute: In the flashbacks, Miyuki is shown to be the closest thing a young Kirishima has to one.

Others

    Kanami Kurosaki
Voiced by: Misa Kobayashi (Japanese), Cherami Leigh (English)
Miyuki's sister and Yaeka's aunt/previous caretaker.
  • Cool Aunt: To Yaeka, who lives with her at the beginning of the story.

    Toichiro Aoi
Voiced by: Tomoaki Maeno (Japanese), Aleks Le (English)
A former member of the Sakuragi group.
  • Defecting for Love: In a way. Aoi used to be in the Yakuza but asked permission to leave the organisation when he realized it was stressing out his pregnant wife.
  • Family Man: Aoi and his wife are Happily Married and have two children, and he left the Sakuragi family because his more dangerous Yakuza activities caused his then-pregnant wife no end of stress.

    Rei Hojo
Kirishima's oldest friend, and a tattoo artist.
  • Best Friend: The self-proclaimed best friend to Kirishima, who Rei has known since they were in high school.
  • Camp Gay: Rei is openly attracted to men and his taste in fashion leans more towards the femme side.

    Ayumu Hanada
A schoolgirl Kirishima and Yaeka run into while on a walk, and who frequently pops up again.
  • Book Dumb: She's not interested in her school work in the least.
  • Cloud Cuckoo Lander: Ayumu is shown to have a very odd thought process that somehow always comes back to food.
  • Obsessed with Food: Ayumu is always hungry, and food appears to be her chief concern. It's even the reason why she develops a crush on Kanehira.
  • Precocious Crush: She, a teenage girl, falls for Kanehira, an adult man, because he heroically caught the bag of cakes she'd just dropped before it could reach the ground.
  • The Runaway: When she's introduced, Ayumu has just run away from home because her parents were nagging her about her schoolwork.

    Masaya Hayami
The son of a fellow Yakuza boss and a self-proclaimed rival to Kirishima.
  • Blood Knight: This guy's just gunning for a fight 24/7. With Kirishima specifically.
  • Intergenerational Friendship: If a friend is someone you like to compete with, then this is the relationship Masaya has with the kid he gets stuck babysitting.
  • Unknown Rival: To Kirishima, who despite Masaya's lifelong quest to defeat him in combat has all but forgotten about him by the time the story starts.

    Yuri Mashiro
A mysterious figure with a deep interest in Kirishima's violent side.
  • Child Hater: He's pretty open about it, too.
  • Too Kinky to Torture: Seems that way, given his overjoyed reaction at Kirishima very narrowly avoiding sticking a bullet through his brain.
  • Troll: Mashiro loves nothing more than getting under Kirishima's skin just for kicks. He evens purposefully wears very strong cologne just to gross him out.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Mashiro's white hair quickly makes clear his amorality.

    Sara Wilson
A foreign girl who quickly becomes a neighbor of the Sakuragis and Yaeka's friend.
  • Genki Girl: Sara is so energetic and peppy (especially compared to Yaeka) that the Sakuragi men liken her to a hurricane.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: She's ludicrously affectionate towards Yaeka from the moment they meet.

    Leon Wilson
Sara's father, an English teacher at a local high school who is deeply enamored with "traditional Japanese culture''.
  • Funny Foreigner: He's this from the perspective of the Japanese protagonists.
  • No Sense of Personal Space: Much like his daughter. Leon gets very up close and personal when he meets Kazuhiko for the first time, gushing in admiration over his traditional getup.
