The Murder of Me has a fairly broad cast, old and familiar, with a lot of familiar characters being quite distinct from their canonical counterparts.

The Sons of Heephis
- Badass Cape: From issue 8 onwards, the three main protagonists each wear a differently colored cape, affixed with buttons on the shoulders. The pieces add a lot of flair to the main trio when they're in battle.
Sonic "Olgilvie Maurice" Hedgehog

Returning to the world after five years of indentured servitude, Sonic the Hedgehog finds that nothing is the same anymore; not even himself. Nonetheless, his heroism, determination, and youthful spirit have stuck with him, and with new allies at his side, he is more than eager to walk the new path ahead of him.
Tropes:
- Ax-Crazy: In his tainted form
- Body Horror: Sonic's feet are filled with holes due to the people at the human government constantly shooting at his feet, whenever he tried to escape from them.
- Despair Event Horizon : He crosses this when he accidentally kills his mother Bernadette and becomes tainted as a result. He starts losing his energetic and fun-loving nature after this event, becoming a shell of his former shelf.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He may be a bit cocky at times, but he does help out people whenever he can.
- Slasher Smile: Constantly shows this in his tainted form
- Superpowered Evil Side : His tainted form
Shadow the Hedgehog

Though his first appearance sees him rescuing a stranger, Shadow is not interested in making himself seem friendly at all. Fifty years of forced isolation wouldn't do much to sand down someone's hardened edges. However, he is still determined to protect the world from evil, and so he fights the influences of the Dark God alongside his brothers. With reluctance.
Tropes:
- Character Development: Out of the three hedgehogs, Shadow has the most significant development as a character, as he started out being emotionless and distant towards the people he meets. But as the story progresses, he starts opening up more about his emotions and starts becoming more protective towards other people, especially towards Silver.
- Dark and Troubled Past: He was imprisoned in a white room for over 50 years where the people in the white lab coats would torture him endlessly until he escape from them. He has since then tried to find a purpose in his life.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While he can be grumpy, he has shown that he cares about people and will protect anyone close to him.
Silver the Hedgehog

The world he grew up in was one of monsters, yet Silver has managed to maintain a merciful heart. His apocalyptic timeline was erased by the Dark God to force him into the present day. He remembers his home with love, and fights the dark god to serve justice for what he lost. But there is a fear that has planted itself within him that he has yet to defeat...

- Ax-Crazy: Briefly became this when he was fighting against Soulless Antoine in issue 15. But thankfully, Shadow prevented him from going any further.
- Dark and Troubled Past: He lived in an apocalyptic world where he was malnourished and to make things worse, Zielo came in and destroyed his home world.
- Nice Guy: Is the nicest of the three hedgehogs as he's more willing to help out others, no matter the situation.
- Superpowered Evil Side: Came dangerously close to becoming tainted like Sonic when he was fighting against Soulless Antoine in issue 15. But thankfully, Shadow prevented that from happening.
