Protagonists
Robert Langdon
- Claustrophobia: Langdon is claustrophobic, which causes him to freeze at inopportune times.
Katherine Solomon
- Related Differently in the Adaptation: In the original novel, Katherine is Peter's sister. In this series, she's his daughter.
Alfonso Nuñez
- Audience Surrogate: He serves as a symbol for the audience trying to get into the mysteries regarding the Lost Symbol.
- Canon Foreigner: He's not from the novels.
- Hollywood Cop Uniform: Nuñez's uniform doesn't have the proper Capital Police patches. This is likely (either) the production crew doesn't want to face problems with actual CP representatives or they want to avoid confusion.
Inoue Sato
- Dark and Troubled Past: Sato blames herself for the events that led to Zachery being captured in Turkey, as well as the fact that the CIA ordered her to destroy all traces of Zachary's affiliation with the agency and to disavow him.
Solomon Family
Peter Solomon
- An Arm and a Leg: Mal'akh amputates Peter's right hand and leaves it for Langdon to find as a clue.
Isabel Solomon
Zachary Solomon
- Hidden Depths: He was a party boy who sold drugs and caroused with wealthy people, which got him recruited as a CIA asset, unbeknownst to his family.
- Posthumous Character: Zachary supposedly died during a prison riot in Agbi, Turkey.
Antagonists
Mal'akh
- Hero Killer: Kills Sato at the end of "Nogenesis". Averted afterwards since she was found in time by first responders, although her larynx was badly damaged.
- Implacable Man: Mal'akh is shown to be tough enough to withstand the shock from a taser.
- Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: He can hold out against a few armed hostiles. But when they resort to Zerg Rush in order to overwhelm him, Mal'akh's easily taken prisoner.
- Tattooed Crook: Mal'akh is covered in tattoos from head to toe. He uses copious amounts of concealer when he needs to be incognito.
Nicholas Bastin
- The Dragon: To Mal'akh as his go to guy for anything that needs to be done.
Others
Benjamin York aka Samyaza
- All There in the Manual: His real name is revealed in "Order Eight".
- The Corrupter: It was his influence that helped Zachery become Mal'akh.
- Evil Mentor: To Zachary.
