Europe

    France

French Republic
Official Name: French Empire
Ideology: Authoritarianism

The greatest superpower in Europe, and arguably the world. Founded in 1804 after a tumultuous revolution that ended in Napoléon Bonaparte becoming Emperor and leading successful military campaign after successful military campaign. After the Great War however, France has begun to slow. It remains yet to be seen if they can regain their past glory.

Napoleon Bonaparte VI

The current French Emperor. He inherited his position from his recently-deceased father Napoleon V.

  • The Emperor: As the Emperor of France, Napoleon rules over the largest empire in Europe.
  • Young and in Charge: The French Emperor is only 21, still quite young to lead the biggest empire on the planet.

    United Kingdom

British Revolutionary Front
Official Name: United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland
Ideology: Conservatism

The British Empire, the ancient rival of France and formerly the undisputed world superpower. After losing most of their colonial holdings in Africa, Australia, India and the Americas, the Irish Revolution and as the military disaster that was their campaign in Canada during the Great War, Britain is now viewed as little more than a country past its prime. This has led to a surge in legitimacy of nationalist and Jacobin movements across the isles and pushes for the UK to finally end their rivalry with France.

  • Chummy Commies: The British Jacobin League is rather moderate compared to other Jacobin parties in the mod, if focuses like "The Democratic Revolution" are anything to go by.
  • Vestigial Empire: Britain in this timeline is far weaker than OTL's Britain, losing southern and western provinces in India, having most of Canada annexed by America and losing the western half of Australia and most of their African colonies to France.

    Italy
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/italy_0.png
Official Name: Italian Confederation
Ideology: Fascism

The northern regions of Italy was merely a collection of smaller states since the days of the Roman Empire, but after the Great War, a man named Benito Mussolini has united all the states under a single confederation. United by a new far-right ideology called "Fascism", Mussolini and his forces seek nothing less than the unification of Italy and the rebirth of the glory they experienced back in the days of the Roman Empire.

  • Allohistorical Allusion: The Italian Confederation is this timeline's version of Fascist Italy, but confined to the north of the country (at least until Mussolini incorporates the Kingdom of Two Sicilies).
  • The Federation: As north Italy never unified until much later on, the Italian Confederation is a confederation of the various north Italian states under Mussolini's banner.
  • Pet the Dog: If Sardinia rebels against France (a war they have no chance at winning), Italy can incorporate them into the Confederation.

Benito Mussolini

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/portrait_italianconfederation_benito_mussolini.jpg
Ideology: Fascism

The Duce of the Italian Confederation. A former Jacobin, Mussolini was inspired by the military in the Great War and the greatness of the Roman Empire in order to create an extreme right-wing ideology called "Fascism". Mussolini has taken upon itself to unite Italy under his rule and recreate the greatness of Rome in modern day.

  • Historical Badass Upgrade: OTL Mussolini is infamous for his countless military blunders during World War 2 and dragging the Axis down. In Gates of Versailles, not only is he far more competent, he now orders Hitler around.
  • Historical Villain Downgrade: Mussolini is still the ruler of a far-right dictatorship, but his version of fascism cares more about Italian culture than race. Combine this with Hitler being confined to the much smaller Austria and subservient to Mussolini, Italy can denounce Hitler's racism and antisemitism.

    Prussia
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/prussia_4.png
Official Name: Republic of Prussia
Ideology: Conservatism

A bastion of democracy in Germany. After banishing the monarchy due to the disaster that was the Great War, Prussia became a democratic republic and one of the few German states that have a chance at uniting the German states into a single nation.

  • Elite Army: The soldiers in Prussia's military are few in numbers compared to France and Russia, but they are high in quality.
  • The Federation: Prussia is one of the German states that can form the German Confederation by uniting others under their banner.
  • The Republic: One of the handful of democratic countries in Germany.

    Bavaria

Ferdinand Schörner

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gov_schoerner.png

  • Military Coup: If Franz Ritter von Epp turns out to be too friendly to Prussia, Schörner and his like-minded generals kill Epp and take over Bavaria, starting the Bavarian War.
