    Tofu and friends
Tofu and his close circle of friends

Tofu (aka The Test Subject)

The protagonist of the story. Originally an experimental bioweapon, it escaped after acquiring a mysterious program called Human.exe, which gave the mental capabilities of a human. With the ability to shape shift and absorb organic matter, it took the name Tofu and joined Hellions henchmen.

  • Achilles' Heel: Electricity. Overlaps with logical weakness, as no matter what form he takes, the core of his being will always be mechanical. Electricity can short circuit his body causing the affected areas to self destruct and prolonged exposure could cause permanent damage to his core.
  • Becoming the Mask: His human identity was originally just intended to allow him to infiltrate human society, but he has gradually come to consider Tofu as his real identity.
  • Big Eater: For two reasons. One is that his shifting takes a lot of calories and he frequently needs to replenish his stock. Two is that he discovered the joys of having tastebuds after taking human form.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: Being an artificially created bioweapon, Tofu has little to no understanding of the basic concepts of good and evil even with Huaman.exe activated.
  • Literal-Minded: Has this problem due to his lack of social skills, but has been getting better. Usually Played for Laughs, though what he does with the ratstitcher when told to “make a message out of him” shows how potentially disturbing this trait can be.
  • Morality Chip: Human.exe functions as one as it allows Tofu to experience empathy and its processing power allows him to think of less murdery solutions to his problems.

Mikey

One of the first friends Tofu made. Is a normal highschool student who only joined HH to earn money for college
  • Only in It for the Money: A rare positive case. Only joined HH to earn money for college and is planning to quit once he earns enough.

Tim

Mikey’s best friend and superhero fanboy. Is unaware of Tofu and Mikey’s criminal activities

  • The Team Normal: Kinda. He is the only member of Tofu’s friends that is not involved in HH or has powers.

Ifrit

Fellow Bonehead and daughter of Hellions. Has a hereditary mutation from her Disappeared Dad.

  • I Just Want to Be Normal: A very downplayed case. While she is perfectly happy with her life, having a supervillain for a parent and a hereditary mutation meant that she had to deal with issues most other kids don’t and missed out on having a “normal” childhood. She is incredibly happy when she gets to have a normal day out with Tofu and his friends.
  • Required Secondary Powers: Her mutation gives her several of these to insure her powers can’t harm her.
  • Vocal Dissonance: Thanks to her mutation she has a thick gravelly voice.

Nicole

A timid girl whose entire lower body is a giant scorpion. She lives in the sewers due to her mutation making it practically impossible to live in society.

  • Actual Pacifist: While hunting is one thing, she’d never willingly harm another human being. This proves to be a serious disadvantage for her when confronted by a large number of stitch-rats with human parts sew into them and she has trouble attacking them.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Aside from the incident that originally caused her mutation, she was sent to Tartarus (containment facility) for rehabilitation because presumably no there was no other facility that could meet her needs. She spent several months in there before escaping.
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Having a giant scorpion for her lower half means she is incredibly strong and even the part of her body that is still humanoid is strong enough to casually destroy a training dummy. That said she is an Actual Pacifist and most of her combat experience come from hunting the various monsters in the sewers for food.

Hellion’s Henchmen

The biggest supervillain organization and number 1 supplier of minions in fortress city.
    Cowls
The actual supervillains of Hellion’s Henchmen

Hellion

The founder and leader of Hellion’s Henchmen. Her duties as leader mean she doesn’t actively participate in villainy as much as she used to, but is still incredibly powerful.

Imp

One of the founding members of HH.

Socket

Another founding member of HH, an elderly tinker who builds most of the gadgets and equipment for HH
  • Gadgeteer Genius: Comes with the territory of being a tinker.
  • Retired Badass: Downplayed. While he still works for HH, his advanced age means that he doesn't actively participate in villainy anymore.

    Boneheads
The powered minions of HH. Named as such because of the vaguely skull shaped helmets they wear.

Buzzer

Pebbles

Dillo

Spikes

Olson

Gregor

Zapps

    Minions
The “normal” minions of HH, that either don’t have powers or signed up for a non combat role.

Tedic

    Others
The non-henchman employees of HH.

Adder

The combat instructor for Hellions Henchmen
  • Actual Pacifist: Spars aside, she dislikes actually fighting and doesn't work as a minion.
  • Badass Normal: Has no powers but can casually knock Tofu off his feet in a spar.

Rattleback

The quartermaster for Hellions Henchmen.

Sandra

The head of the HR department.

Viper

Another member of the HR department.

Heroes

The various heroes of Fortess city.

    E- 13 Hero team

Brick

Magenta

  • Boxed Crook: The main reason she's stuck in E-13 rather than the inner sectors is because she was part of a gang before triggering and she's currently on probation.

Turbo

Poena

  • Agony Beam: Her power lets her create glowing spears that cause pain to the mind directly and can knock targets unconscious.
  • Attack Backfire: Stabbing Tofu with her strongest spear causes Human.exe to crash, but not Tofu's actual AI. She'd probably be dead if Tofu hadn't been specifically ordered not to kill her.

Morph

Civilians

The (relatively) normal people living in Fortress city.
     Jasper
A four eyed mutant and E-13's knowledge broker

  • Acquainted with Emergency Services: Has apparently been detained so many times that he's pretty familiar with the detective sent in to get a statement from him and even starts up a conversation with him.
