It's been a long time coming, but here it is: The ''Videogame/PuyoPuyo'' Character Page!

We're not attempting to list ''every'' character, though; if we did that, the [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters loads and loads of minor characters]] from ''Madou Monogatari'' and ''Puyo Puyo!! Quest'' would overtake the page.

[[folder: Original Characters (Main)]]

-->''For the people of this world! For every man, woman, and child! I will shut you up once and for all!''

The original protagonist, Arle is kind and, despite fighting Satan over and over and knowing his common goals, doesn't seem to hold a grudge with him. She, along with Carbuncle, are the most recognizable characters of the series.

* ActionGirl: A given being a protagonist, and is of the first of the "A" trio.
** BlackMagicianGirl: And she knows magic since kindergarten!
* AdaptationDyeJob: Once Sega took the reins, her hair changed from brown to orange, her eyes went from brown, to blue (Fever), to golden-brown (Fever 2 onward), and her usual armor pads went from blue to green and back to blue in Fever 2.
** CurtainsMatchTheWindows: Her eyes were brown in her original appearance.
* AllIsWellThatEndsWell: She fought Satan, Rulue, and Schezo on a daily basis, but in 15th she greeted them, had small talk, and sounded ''very'' happy to see her old enemies.
* TheArtifact: Along with Carbuncle in what was otherwise a ContinuityReboot in ''Fever''. Once the new characters were established, Sega began to undo this trope.
* BadassAdorable: Moreso in the first ''Madou Monogatari'' games.
* BagOfSpilling: After she gets kidnapped by Schezo in ''Madou Monogatari II'', she wakes up trapped in a dungeon with most of her power gone. The Game Gear version has her exclaim "My power was stolen!", all but implying Schezo did steal her power, but the bag spills again in III with no explanation.
* BarrierWarrior: Her ''Yon'' super attack is a barrier that temporarily holds off Nuisance Puyo.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The brunette to the "A" Trio.
* BigShutUp: To Suketoudara in his story in ''20th Anniversary'', and again to her projections of Schezo, Rulue, and Satan in ''Puyo Tetris'' for arguing over who battles against her.
* [[GoKartingWithBowser Board Games with Satan]]: She's ''in the same team with him'' in the [=Discstation=] game ''Madou Sugoroku''.
* {{Bokukko}}: Note that this trope was not prevalent back in 1989.
* ABoyAndHisX: A girl and her curry-loving rabbit that can shoot lasers.
* BullyingTheDragon: Some of her Puyo matches are started after her mocking her opponents beforehand. Most of them are arrogant clowns, but still powerful magic beings.
* CallBack: Arle's dropset consists entirely of pairs as a Call Back to the first four games, which lacked L-shaped and giant Puyo.
** In ''20th Anniversary'', Arle regains her spell sequence from ''Tsu'' ("Ei!", Fire, Ice Storm, Diacute, Brain Dumbed, Jugem, Bayoen), making her the only character in the game to use six spells. She even references the ''Madou Monogatari'' games by stuttering the spell that is used after Diacute.
* TheComicallySerious: Back in SUN. She's focused on trying to foil Satan like usual, but consider the antics she got into trying to get to him in the first place.
* DeadpanSnarker: Big time, during Compile's run. After Sega's makeover, this element of her character was toned down substantially. Although, there was this famous gem from the US version of ''Minna'':
--> '''Incubus''': Hey! I just want to get to know you! What's your sign, baby?
--> '''Arle''': Octagon. As in "stop."
* DemotedToExtra: In the two ''Fever'' games. From ''7'' onwards, she regained her role as a main character.
* DistractedByTheSexy: Invoked. She did this to snatch her cell key from some guards and escape in ''Madou Monogatari II''.
* TheDividual: She and Carbuncle were this in ''Fever 2'', ''15th'' and ''7''. It was made more obvious in ''Puyo Tetris'', being labeled "Arle and Carbuncle".
* DropTheWashtub: Amitie dropped one on her head in ''Puyo Pop Fever 2''. Did it get her back home? Nope, it just left a [[CranialEruption big bump on the head]]. (The size of Arle's head no less!)
* DubNameChange: Was called Silvana in the English translation of the first arcade game.
* {{Fingore}}: Her fingers fell victim to frostbite after using Ice Storm one too many times in ''Madou Monogatari III''. How badly? They ''cracked open and bled''.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: Blue and white, which show her [[TheHero hero]] status.
* KidHero: She was four in ''Madou Monogatari A'', six in ''Madou Monogatari I'', and is 16 in ''Madou Monogatari II'' and the ''Puyo Puyo'' games.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Though there's a lot of music that could be called her theme, 15th gave her one in [[ "Been a Long Time Since We Crossed Paths Over Space-Time!"]] and hasn't changed since then.
** BootstrappedLeitmotif: Debuted as the Stage 1-8 theme of the first ''Puyo Puyo''.
* LimitedWardrobe: She says that she wears the same outfit 365 days a year in ''Tsu'', which The Banshee Trio has a good laugh at. Come ''15th Anniversary'', she states that she's been doing this for '''15 years'''. (Despite the fact that she underwent slight design changes in between.)
** OutdatedOutfit: According to Oshare.
* LostInTranslation: A rather infamous one: her "Diacute" attack was translated into "Diamond Cutie" in ''Puyo Pop Fever''. Apparently, the translators thought that Diacute was a mashup of "diamond" and "cutie", when it is actually a combination of "di-" as in double, and "acute" as in acuteness. (Diacute is a damage-doubling spell in the ''Madou Monogatari'' games.)
* ModestyShorts: We don't see this in the games themselves, but at least one figurine shows her wearing these. The costume replica featured in ''VideoGame/PhantasyStarOnline2'' also features these if you look under the skirt.
* MoralDissonance: She tells Lagnus that he shouldn't bully Puyo in ''Sun'', despite the fact that she (along with the rest of the cast) destroy large numbers of them during Puyo Puyo matches.
* NoPronunciationGuide: She's apparently named after a play called ''L'Arlésienne'' (''The Girl From [[ Arles]]''), and thus her name should be pronounced "Ah-rll". However, she calls herself "Ah-rl-lee" in the English version of ''Puyo Pop Fever'', which is apparently how it's pronounced in French.
* [[NotHimself Not Herself]]: In 7 as Dark Arle.
* OhCrap: The moment Minotauros began chasing her down, she KNEW she had to run!
* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Girl]]: Up until Ringo appeared, at least.
** NotSoAboveItAll: Comparatively so anyway. In her own right, she can be pretty ditzy and playful at times.
* PersonalitySwap: Temporarily assumes Draco's personality in ''Tsu'' as part of a ContinuityNod to their conversation in the first game.
--> '''Arle''': [[JerkassBall "Hmph! Would you even stand a chance against a girl as lovely as me? No WAY!!"]]
* PunchClockHero: Her daily routine is stopping Satan whenever he does something deemed as "evil".
** NothingPersonal: Despite having to do this almost every game, she really doesn't outright hate him. She even displays concern for him after [[spoiler:breaking him free from Ekoro's control.]]
* RapunzelHair: Her Adult form makes her hair grow to waist length, and is downplayed in ''Puyo Tetris'', growing past her shoulders.
* SayMyName:
** A rather angry "SAAAATAAAAN!" [[spoiler:when she finds out he was just faking his death. Carbuncle wasn't amused either.]]
** Shouted "SCHEZOOOOO!" in ''Madou Monogatari: The Final Test'' [[spoiler:as she saw him get killed.]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere:
** In ''Super Puyo Puyo Tsu'' she was invited to partake in the ultimate challenge (Normal mode), but left because it was getting late.
---> '''Arle''': "Okay buster, you're on!'s getting late. Maybe tomorrow."
** She tries to leave in ''Minna de Puyo'', [[SubvertedTrope but Zoh Daimaoh stops her with a Puyo match]].
* ShaggyDogStory: Arle had to solve numerous puzzles of increasing difficulty in ''Nazo Puyo'' to get curry ingredients. In the end, Carbuncle gobbles up the curry she just made from right under her nose.
** In SUN she foils Satan's plans to increase the sun...only for Carbuncle to grow it again.
* SheIsAllGrownUp: The epilogue of ''Madou Monogatari I'' shows snippets of her growing up. By extension, the TimeSkip between I and II counts as well, going from the age of 5, to 16.
* SignatureMove: Bayoeen!
* SlapstickKnowsNoGender: Engages in ButtMonkey humour as much as the others. The opening title of the first arcade game introduces her by ''beaning a giant Puyo on her head''.
* SpeaksFluentAnimal: She's able to communicate with Carbuncle. Schezo even says he can't understand a thing Carbuncle says without her around. Arle has no idea what [[{{Planimal}} Baromett]] is saying in their ''Tsu'' pre-battle conversation, though.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: One of Sega's early figurines gives us "Aruru Nadya." Likewise, quite a few video game sites list ''Nazo Puyo: Arle no Roux'' as "Aruru no Ru".
* ATasteOfDefeat: Expectedly, Arle is frequently the final boss you must defeat whenever one of her rivals has a playable campaign. She rarely seems to be that bothered by it though.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: [[FireIceLightning ''Fire'', ''Ice Storm'' and ''Thunder'']] are her usual spells, which are common elements and uses [[ChargedAttack Diacute]] and [[PillarOfLight Heaven Ray]] as well. She eventually switches out Thunder for [[StupidityInducingAttack Brain Dumbed]] and Heaven Ray for Jugem.
* TrademarkFavouriteFood: Curry, though not to the same extent as Carbuncle.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: At first, in ''Fever''. She eventually grew to love Primp, wishing to be able to travel between the two worlds instead of simply going home in ''15th''.
* TrueCompanions: With Carbuncle.
* TwoFirstNames: Arle is French, Nadja is German.
* VocalDissonance: "Silvana" has the voice of a middle-aged woman.
** Minako Ozawa's Arle is a borderline case. Her high-pitched, childlike voice matches the super-deformed Arle from ''Sun''...not so much the realistically-proportioned Arle in ''Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon''.

!! Carbuncle
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari II
--> '''Voiced by:''' [[CreatorCameo Masamitsu "Moo" Niitani]] (Puyo Puyo TSU Saturn), Ayame Kizuki (Puyo Puyo SUN, Madou Monogatari: The Final Test), Kurumi Mamiya (Puyo Puyo~n), Tamaki Nakanishi (Puyo Puyo Fever - present)

The yellow rabbit {{Mascot}} of the original series, Carbuncle began to accompany Arle after the original ''Madou Monogatari''. Though all he can say is "Guu", everyone seems to know what he says. He was originally Satan's pet rabbit, though, and he remains a favorite of the demon king.

* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife: Some sort of yellow rabbit... ''thing''.
* AmbiguousGender: Arle and Satan use different-gendered pronouns for Carbuncle - Arle uses masculine pronouns, while Satan uses feminine ones.
* BadassAdorable
* BlackBeadEyes: But was switched out for BlankWhiteEyes below temporarily.
* BlankWhiteEyes: In his design in ''Fever'' until ''7''.
* BonusBoss: [[spoiler:He is one in ''Sun'' and ''Fever''. In the case of ''Fever'', he takes Popoi's place for the final boss of the [=HaraHara=] course.]]
** GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: Even Raffine points this out.
** GuideDangIt: To actually face him, however...
*** For Sun: [[spoiler:Beat the Hard route without continuing.]]
*** For Fever: [[spoiler:Reach the final boss of the [=HaraHara=] course without continues and use Fever mode less than 4 or more than 12 times. Alternatively he can be encountered if your continue count is at a multiple of 7. He will be fought in place of Popoi.]]
* DemotedToExtra: Interestingly, he bounces between being a side character and a playable. He lost his playable status in ''Fever 2'', ''15th'' and ''Puyo Tetris'', and serves as a sidekick character to Arle. Heck, Puyo Tetris' character selection lists them as "Arle and Carbuncle".
** He has more or less lost his mascot status after ''Minna'', though he is still often featured in promotional materials.
* DubNameChange: Carbuncle appears in ''[[VideoGame/DoctorRobotniksMeanBeanMachine Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine]]'', but his name is changed to [[IncrediblyLamePun "Has]] [[PunnyName Bean"]]. Subverted, interestingly enough, in the English arcade game.
* ExtremeOmnivore: He took sword swallowing to a hilariously literal degree!
* FrickinLaserBeams: ''From his forehead.''
* GoodColorsEvilColors: He's adorable enough to be a KidAppealCharacter.
* HeelFaceTurn: Dubious given who [[DoggedNiceGuy his former owner]] is, but he was [[HarmlessVillain Satan]]'s pet before leaving him for Arle.
* InSeriesNickname: "Kaa-kun" by Arle, and "Carbuncle-chan" by Satan.
* KillerRabbit: Is [[TierInducedScrappy infamous]] for having the largest dropset in the game, giving him an arguably unsurpassed level of offense and defense in ''Fever'' rule.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Everyone Fight Puyo Puyo Until Morning"]] as of 20th.
** BootstrappedLeitmotif: The theme debuted as the first floor BGM of ''Tsu''. The current remix was first used in ''Fever'' as both the Free Battle theme and the BGM that plays when battling Arle.
* TheLittleDetecto: He can find items for Arle in ''Waku Puyo Dungeon''.
* MeaningfulName: His name is an archaic name given to red, cabochon cut gemstones. Take a look at his forehead.
** It's also provided as the name of a creature with a jewel in its forehead in Jorge Luis Borges' ''Book of Imaginary Beings''.
* NonHumanSidekick
* OverlyLongTongue: While not shown often, his tongue can be quite long and has been shown grabbing things with it.
* SeriesMascot: Of ''Madou Monogatari'' and the Compile-made ''Puyo Puyo'' games. In fact, he was the {{Mascot}} of Compile itself at a time.
* StickyFingers: He tends to swipe things in front of people. Arle's curry in ''Nazo Puyo'', Sata- err Santa's sack in ''Tsu'', Ringo's curry bread in a ''7'' comic strip...
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Carbuncle loves his curry.
* TrueCompanions: With Arle.
* YourSizeMayVary: Bounces between being a shoulder companion to the size of Arle's head.

!! Draco Centauros
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari II
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukoMizutani (Puyo Puyo CD), Ayame Kizuki (Puyo Puyo SUN), Tomoko Miura (Puyo Puyo~n), Creator/KaoriNazuka (Puyo Puyo 7 - Present)

--> ''No way!! Not only did I lose,'re telling me there's no beauty contest here??''

A green-haired dragon-woman that uses martial arts alongside Rulue. She is obsessed with defeating Arle in beauty contests and Puyo Puyo.

* AnimalEyes: Has reptile-like eyes in her ''Tsu'' portrait and on the back cover of ''Rulue no Roux''.
* ArtificialStupidity: Generally the case in the series, despite the rare [[InvertedTrope inversion]]. It's most notable in ''7'', where her AI is by ''far'' the weakest in the game, and the only one unchanged by Core AI. In ''20th'', she never rotates her puyos.
* {{Beauty Contest}}s: Her fascination with them is her defining trait; by ''20th'', it has gotten so bad that she mistakes ''a Puyo match'' (which, remember, is SeriousBusiness) for a beauty contest.
** CharacterizationMarchesOn / {{Flanderization}}: Amusingly, her EstablishingCharacterMoment is ''denying'' that she wanted a beauty contest. She first challenged Arle to a beauty contest in ''Tsu'' Saturn and it was downhill from there.
* CuteMonsterGirl: Emphasized in the first game's Mega Drive manual, where the LemonyNarrator lists off her appealing qualities (including her good looks and horns), and then laments that her lengthy thinking times leads everyone to believe that she's a third-rate monster.
* CuteLittleFangs: Became prominent in her Sega design, to the point that her [[ CharaGumin model page]] specifically claims that this is one of her charming points.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Becomes the main character of ''Sun's'' Easy course, making her the only ''Madou Monogatari'' {{Mook}} to star in a mainline game. Unfortunately for her, she returns to her original status as a WarmupBoss the very moment that her story finishes.
* DependingOnTheArtist: The size and color of Draco's wings. From ''Madou Monogatari 1-2-3'' to ''Puyo Puyo Sun'', she has giant red wings. As part of her ''Yon'' redesign, she is given small green wings. She is given giant brown wings in ''7'', and her design as of ''20th'' returns to small green wings.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: Draco uses Rider's ''Fever'' rule dropset and stats in ''7''; in ''20th Anniversary'', she receives a new dropset while Rider retains hers.
* DubNameChange: "Dragon Woman" in the English arcade translation.
* EmbarrassinglyPainfulSunburn: She gets roasted at the end of her story in ''Sun'' and lands in Arle's story with one of these.
* [[{{Fanboy}} Fangirl]]: In ''Madou Monogatari: Hanamaru Dai Youchienji'', she runs a Satan-fanclub. ''In his own house.'' Apparently the only members are other Dracos.
* {{Fanservice}}: Just about every shot of her in her swimwear in ''Sun'', her ending being the most blatant.
* FingerlessGloves: In some art, most notably in her profile picture from the first arcade game's Mega Drive manual and the Saturn Madou Monogatari.
* FreakinessShame: Averted, big time, in the international version of ''Minna''.
--> '''Draco''': "Beauty queens are soooo passé. Girls with big horns are the big thing now."
* GirlyBruiser: She loves beauty contests and swimsuits, and beats opponents senseless with her bare hands.
* GracefulLoser: She takes her loss to Arle rather gracefully in ''Minna'', and happily gives Arle the rune that she found as a prize.
* GroundPunch: Dynasonic in ''20th Anniversary''
* [[HornedHumanoid Horned]] and WingedHumanoid
* InNameOnly: Aside from the fact that Draco is a HalfHumanHybrid, she has nothing in common with centaurs.
* JerkassBall: She has a handful of cruel moments, such as blowing fire on Skeleton-T's teapot in ''Sun'' and destroying Rulue's soup in her ''20th'' story.
* KissOfDeath: Part of her attacks in ''Sun'' and ''Yon''
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Let's Play With A Rival!"]] in 20th.
** BootstrappedLeitmotif: The theme debuted as the Rival/Vs. Mode BGM in ''Sun''.
* MightyRoar: Attempts one in her strongest ''Yon'' attack. There's also "Dragon Woman's" [[ GAAAAAOOOOOH!]].
* {{Narcissist}}: Comes across this way in the first game. Unlike [[{{Flanderization}} most character traits established in the first game]], the sequels actually tone this down...slightly.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: Helps [[DreadfulMusician Harpy]] in ''Sun'' and gets "rewarded" with a song of gratitude.
* NoSenseOfDirection: She couldn't tell the difference between East and West in her story in 20th.
* OperaGloves
* OutOfCharacterMoment: At least that's what Arle thought when Draco ''didn't'' challenge her to a beauty contest.
--> '''Arle''': "...Right. Now go back to bed and let me give you your medicine."
* PaletteSwap: "Beast Draco", who only appears in ''Box's'' Scramble mode. She was presumably created solely to give Draco three forms like Arle, Schezo, Witch, Kikimora, and Satan.
* PlayingWithFire: As one might expect from a dragon. In addition to her [[BreathWeapon fire-breathing techniques]] (Fire Breath and Burning Breath), she can use fire to [[ElementalPunch power up her physical attacks]]. (Great Fire)
* PointyEars
* QiPao: [[SkirtOverSlacks Although she wears legging pants underneath]], save for when she's an Adult in 7.
* [[KingMook Queen Mook]]: Super Draco Centauros in ''Madou Monogatari III''.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: Draco Special in the newer games. [[LazyArtist Dynasonic in]] ''[[LazyArtist 7]]''.
* TheRival: A rivalry that's mostly about beauty contests and entirely one-sided.
* SexyBacklessOutfit: In ''Puyo Puyo~n''.
* ShaggyDogStory: In ''20th'', she went through a lot of hell getting to the beach with an "amazing swimsuit", ranging from [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking falling down a cliff, getting shoved into river rapids, and taking a wrong turn]]. The said swimsuit, however, was swiped by Suketoudara.
* {{Shoryuken}}: Draco Upper from her ''Puyo Puyo~n'' attacks. Yep, [[StealthPun a dragon performs a Dragon Punch]].
* ShoutOut: In addition to the above trope, her heavy damage phrase ("''Otegami choudai!''", roughly "Fan letters, please!") references the {{Terrible Trio}}s from the Anime/TimeBokan series.
* SignatureRoar: Does a girlish dragon's growl ("Gao!") whenever she is angry or frustrated.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The Compile-era games used any combination of Draco/Doraco and Centaur/Centauros. Sega's official romanization is Draco-Centaur, based on the English version of ''Minna'' and merchandise such as the aforementioned [=CharaGumin=]. The fandom sticks with the name that [[FirstInstallmentWins the first game went with]].
* TailSlap: Draco Tail from her ''Puyo Puyo~n'' attacks.
* TookALevelInBadass: She went from the first (Normal) boss in the original game to sitting on the penultimate floor with Minotauros in ''Tsu''; additionally, the versions of ''Tsu'' that contain Expert mode and use ''Super Puyo Puyo Tsu Remix's'' character order place her right below Rulue and the two Satans. [[BadassDecay Undone in]] ''[[BadassDecay Sun]]'', where she returns to WarmupBoss status.
* TrashTalk: She actually does not have a [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]] in ''Sun''; instead, she does a lot of boasting and taunting.
* WarmupBoss: Draco's AI level was all over the place throughout Compile's run, but Sega has adopted [[FirstInstallmentWins her original]], [[ArtificialStupidity weak AI]] in ''7'' and ''20th''. Her lack of ''Puyo Puyo'' prowess is exaggerated whenever her [[PerfectPlayAI Core AI]] mode is enabled: it does ''absolutely nothing'' in ''7'', while she doesn't rotate her Puyo while using it in ''20th''.
* WhiteFlag: Pulls one out in her Sega-era defeat animations.
* YouFool: Dragon Woman calls Silvana a "brave fool" in the English arcade game.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Wears Grade A in Sega Saturn's Madoh Monogatari.

!! Rulue
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari III
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/YumiTouma (Puyo Puyo CD), Sarukaikai (Puyo Puyo SUN arcade/Saturn), Noa Asagi (Puyo Puyo SUN N64/PSX/PC, Discstation Shorts), Chizuko Hoshino (Puyo Puyo~n), Creator/KanakoKondo (15th - Present)
--> '''Stage Actor:''' Mika Kikuchi

-->''I am Rulue, the Fighting Queen! I live without equal for love, beauty, and fists... And I am the future wife of my darling Satan! Don't you forget it!''

Fighting-Queen Rulue is a woman who wishes Satan would love her instead of Arle. Very calm (80% of the time), she's actually pretty intelligent for someone from Compile's series.

* AllIsWellThatEndsWell: Despite being a sort of rival to Arle for Satan's affection, she acts like a close friend to her.
* AlphaBitch
* BareYourMidriff: Shows off hers in YON, seen [[ here]].
* BerserkButton: Easily angered by Arle or Schezo talking about Satan. This gets exploited by them in ''Tetris'' to break her out of her mind-controlled state.
* BlushSticker
* CuteLittleFangs / FangsAreEvil: In the earlier games, she bears them whenever she is defeated or otherwise upset by Arle.
* ChocolateOfRomance: As Lovestruck Rulue, having a box of homemade chocolates for Satan. Let us remind you that ''she can't cook''.
* DarkActionGirl: Introduced as an antagonist in ''Madou Monogatari III''.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Has her own scenario in ''Super Nazo Puyo: Rulue no Roux'' (and [[spoiler:replaces Doppleganger Arle as the final boss in the game's ''Arle no Roux'' remake]]), is the main character of ''Super Nazo Puyo Tsu'', and stars in a Windows [=Discstation=] game titled ''Rulue's Spring Break of Fists''.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Originally. She eventually started wearing sandals after YON.
* DrivenByEnvy: She's particularly jealous of Arle's magical abilities.
* DubNameChange: Named "Lulu" in the English arcade translation. Possibly a case of SpellMyNameWithAnS, since her initials on the first game's default high score table are "[[JapaneseRanguage LUL]]".
* FanGirl: For Satan.
* {{Foil}}: To Arle. Arle is the [[NiceGuy Nice Girl]], a tomboy, specializes in magic, has no interest in Satan, and treats Carbuncle like her best friend. Rulue is a {{Jerkass}}, prim and proper, specializes in martial arts, obsesses over Satan, and often treats Minotaur like a slave or punching bag.
* GoThroughMe: Several times, most notably in the first game. From a gameplay standpoint, she is almost always faced right before Satan, making her something of a self appointed [[TheDragon Dragon]].
* {{Irony}}: Her favorite food according to ''DA!'' is beef, yet her servant is a bull...
* KickChick: Her focus on kicks began with ''Yon''.
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: Literal ass-kicking, no less.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Combat Queen Rulue!"]] in 15th.
** 20th gives her [[ "The Loving Strongest Fighting Queen"]].
* LethalChef: She tried to cook curry in ''Super Nazo Puyo'' but it turned out terrible (maybe not to Minotauros but still). It comes up again in Draco's ''20th'' story, when Draco comes across Rulue's "Doro Doro (Syrupy/Muddled) Soup", takes a sip, and finds it so terrible that she decides to ''destroy it'' when Rulue explains that she made it "with love" for Satan.
* LoveHurts: She's completely smitten for him, but unfortunately Satan is too distracted with Arle to notice. This doesn't sit well with her.
* MeaningfulName: Her name when spelled in katakana (''ルルー Ruru-'') is similar to Arle's name (''アルル Aruru''), likely a nod to how she usually serves as a rival. In addition, her name is also similar to the word "roux" (ルーRū), roux being an ingredient in Japanese style curry. [[StealthPun This is likely why Rulue receives focus in both Super Nazo Puyo titles]].
* NoblewomansLaugh: Entering Fever mode is but one example. She does one occasionally in dialogue.
* [[PaperFanOfDoom Pink Fan Of Doom]]: It suffers a lot less abuse than you'd think, though.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: As performed in the move "Fist Punishment".
* RescueRomance: Occurring in ''Madou Monogatari ARS'', this is how she falls in love with Satan in the first place.
* TheRival: For Satan's love, at least.
* ShoutOut: One of her ''Yon'' attacks looks almost exactly like [[VideoGame/StreetFighterII Chun-Li's]] [[EnergyBall Kikosho]].
* SignatureMove: Haganshou (Rock-Crushing Palm Strike) is almost always her first attack and Joou Ranbu (Queen Dance) is almost always her last attack. The latter is upgraded into her [[LimitBreak Super Attack]] in ''Yon''; upon use, she flips (''[[ExactWords not]]'' [[ExactWords rotate]]) her field upside down and clears all her nuisance Puyo at the same time.
* SleepyHead: Her alternate voice is this... but it sounds quite [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything suggestive]].
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Most video game sites romanize her name as ''Ruruu'' when referring to the two Nazo Puyo games that she stars in. Meanwhile, the code for at least one of Sega's websites refers to her as "Leroux."
* StalkerWithACrush: Implied at times with her zeal in infatuating Satan:
-->'''Rulue:''' I'll go with you wherever you go.
-->'''Satan:''' If only you'd lag behind a little.
* [[StupidSexyFlanders Stupid Sexy Rulue]]: Ms. Accord thinks she's "very sexy and quite wonderful".
* SuddenlyVoiced: Rulue is the only character in the first arcade game that does not have a voiced catchphrase; this is rectified in ''Puyo Puyo CD''.
* SupernaturalMartialArts: They don't call her the Fighting Queen for nothing.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: Her defeat quote in 20th translates to "I won't forgive you!" She also says this to Draco after the latter destroys her soup.
* TheUnfought / NonActionBigBad: She was this in the MSX and PC98 versions of ''Madou Monogatari III''; in fact, ''Puyo Puyo'' is the first time that Arle battles Rulue directly. Averted in the Game Gear version of ''III'', where she is indeed the final boss.
* UnSorcerer: She's one of the only characters that ''can't'' use magic. She's incredibly displeased about it too, to the point where she tries to defy this trope by tagging with Arle to attend magic school.
** However, [[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness she is more than capable of casting spells in]] ''[[EarlyInstallmentWeirdness Puyo Puyo CD]]''. Given that the first game's ExcusePlot claims that Puyo Puyo is essentially a WizardDuel, it would be strange if she couldn't.
* WhipItGood: Depicted with a whip in Game Gear ''Madou Monogatari III''
* YoungerThanTheyLook: SUN puts her at 18.

-->''Curious... you seem strangely tolerant today. Then perhaps... [[MoodWhiplash We can finally have our honeymoon! Nothing but blissful love between us!]] My dream would finally be fulfilled!''

A young man/demon with long green hair and horns, Satan is the neighborhood villain. A DeadpanSnarker when it got down to it, Satan's plans were laughably evil and honestly made no sense when you got to the heart of it. His affection for Arle '''wasn't''' added when Sega was doing ''Puyo'', believe it or not, and was intended from the start.

* AccidentalMisnaming:
** In the original game, Arle mistakenly calls him Santa.
** Yu calls him Satin and Stan. In the same cutscene no less!
* AndNowYouMustMarryMe: His ultimate goal.
* AutobotsRockOut: [[ The only evil]] [[ thing about this guy]] is the fact they never use his instruments for other songs. "Final De Puyo" indeed...
** {{Leitmotif}}: 20th gives him [[ "Creator of the Puyopuyo Hell"]].
* AffablyEvil: While he's the designated villain, he never really is a jerk to begin with.
* AndThatsTerrible: Played for laughs.
* BerserkButton: Brushing him off like nothing and calling him a fake ''really'' gets on his nerves. Then again, he has a short fuse in 15th Anniversary.
* BigEntrance: Attempts one of these in the first game...[[MoodWhiplash until Arle calls out]] [[AccidentalMisnaming "SANTA!"]]
* {{Bishonen}}
* [[spoiler: BigDamnHeroes: At the end of Puyo Tetris with Ekoro, to X. His and Ekoro's power combined created a strong enough warp tunnel to reach the End of Reality, allowing X to leave as he pleases.]]
* {{Bowdlerise}}/DubNameChange: He is renamed "[[EvilPrince Dark Prince]]" in Western releases; likewise, Masked Satan becomes "Masked Prince." The name is [[TheArtifact an Artifact]] from the otherwise-ignored arcade translation and the English release of 3D Puyo Tsu acknowledges this in the game's manual, with his entry being labeled "Satan (Dark Prince)". The English versions of ''VideoGame/SonicRunners'' leave his name intact as well, for the game's ''Puyo Quest'' collaboration.
* BrickJoke: Arle misconstruing Satan as Santa? Fast forward to ''Tsu'', Satan ''dresses up as Santa'' and turns the joke on its head.
* ButtMonkey: Just about gets no respect from anyone he's met in ''15th''. Calling him "Uncle", being called an impostor, name misconstrued multiple times, the list goes on. In fairness, he dishes out as much as he takes.
* CardCarryingVillain: If anything went wrong, he was the first guess. Hell, he was ''the'' villain for Compile.
** Played even straighter in the English arcade game, where he is changed to the ObviouslyEvil prince of the [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Black Kingdom]] bent on [[TakeOverTheWorld intergalactic domination]], complete with villainous phrases such as YouFool, PrepareToDie, and WeCanRuleTogether.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: While Satan always liked Arle, he was originally much more obsessed with Carbuncle. Official comics and character profiles (such as [=DiscStation=]) never failed to mention how much Satan absolutely adored Carbuncle and often cried at home, feeling really lonely without his pet. His love for Carbuncle is at the rather disturbing point where his throne room is littered with countless Carbuncle dolls in ''Madou Monotagati Saturn''. However, all of that changed once Sega began running the show; Satan's love for Carbuncle was downplayed while his crush on Arle was [[{{Flanderization}} Flanderized]]. It's worth noting that in the first arcade game, absolutely no mention is made of Satan's obsession with Carbuncle or his crush on Arle.
** In the first arcade game, while [[TheComicallySerious still somewhat humorous]], his presence was more legitimately sinister and even earned a genuine OhCrap reaction from Arle (this is taken UpToEleven in the English version where he's a standard villain). Come a couple games later, and he's playing the ukulele while trying to get his super intensified tan.
* TheComputerIsACheatingBastard: When you fight him, ''your'' pieces will be falling at max speed. ''His'' will be going pretty slow.
* ContinuityNod / CallBack: When Yu meets him in ''15th Anniversary'', this happens (''[[{{Woolseyism}} only in the fan translation]]'').
--> '''Yu:''' "Satan? So then you're a star?"\\
'''Satan:''' "You refer to the old name of Venus, "Lucifer"? No, I'm no star in the sky."[[note]]Lucifer is his twin brother, who happens to be Arle's ''teacher''. It's also worth mentioning that Lucifer is possibly Oshare's love interest.[[/note]]
** And Satan mentions this tidbit in ''7''.
-->'''Ringo:''' "Alright! We're at the school!"\\
'''Satan:''' "You know, I may not look it, but... I'm also the headmaster of another school!"
* CoolMask: As Masked Satan. He's the TrueFinalBoss if you score high enough without continuing in ''Tsu''.
** PaperThinDisguise: And it's just a mask, yet he claims to be someone completely different. Arle isn't fooled for a second.
** ShoutOut: To [[Franchise/SailorMoon Tuxedo Mask]].
* CockFight: If he, Schezo, and Arle are in the same room, bad things are more than likely to happen.
* CreatorCameo: "Moo" Niitani himself voices Satan in ''SUN''.
* CrushBlush: Of the BlushSticker variety, and isn't afraid to hide it.
* TheDevilIsALoser: We don't think the lord of hell (Puyo Hell, rather) could get any lamer than this. He is constantly foiled by the likes of Arle (moreso in Puyo than in Madou Monogatari), and can act like a manchild at times. When accused of being the one behind the Tetriminoes in Primp, he calls Arle and Carbuncle "big, stupid meanies." Then Ringo finds him plucking flower petals in a LovesMeNot fashion while still bawling his eyes out. Yeah...
* EasilyForgiven: Then again, he doesn't do much to warrant anything but.
* EasyModeMockery: He mocks the player at the end of the first ''Puyo Puyo's'' Beginner course. [[MediumAwareness He blatantly acknowledges the difficulty level]] in the ''Puzlow Kids''/English arcade translation.
* EvilLaugh: Has ''twelve'' evil laughs in 20th.
** EvilIsHammy
* [[spoiler:FakingTheDead: All just to make Arle worried. She didn't take the act too well, though.]]
* FinalBoss: Of ''Madou Monogatari II'' and most of the Compile ''Puyo Puyo'' games.
** [[spoiler: ClimaxBoss in Yon.]]
** [[spoiler:[[DualBoss Dual Final Boss]]: With Ekoro at the end of the last story in 20th.]]
* ForTheEvulz: Before the first game's final battle, Arle asks Satan why he put her through so many traps. His response? "It's just my hobby."
* GigglingVillain: More so as Yellow Satan; it sounds like Chikara was trying hard not to burst into laughter during the spell phrases.
* GoofySuit: Wears a Carbuncle one as Yellow Satan, as seen [[ here.]]
** EarWings: The ears on his suit follow his wing animations on the original sprites.
* HarmlessVillain: For someone named Satan, he usually has different plans than being evil. If he ''is'' doing something "evil", the choice he has in mind [[PokeThePoodle isn't]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: If you can control his forced speed spike, you can dish out a chain faster than he can.
* HornedHumanoid and WingedHumanoid: Being winged seems to be bipolar, since he doesn't have them in ''Sun'', ''DA!'', or ''Minna De''.
* ItsPersonal: Satan wasn't too pleased with Ekoro meddling with Arle's body...
* KnightOfCerebus: In the first arcade game. Whenever he appears in cutscenes, he's depicted in a barren wasteland with constant lightning striking, contrasting the typical field the other characters are in. The cutscene before you fight Satan takes it a step further, with ominous music and Satan swooping down from the shadows. Battling him also has a sense of tension, due to the more intense music that plays and the sound effects sounding like explosions. To top it off, throughout the whole game his normally goofy personality is downplayed, becoming TheComicallySerious at best, due to Arle [[AccidentalMisnaming accidentally calling him]] [[RougeAnglesOfSatin Santa]]. The second game is the first one that depicts him as the LaughablyEvil FinalBoss he's better known as.
* LaughablyEvil: If he isn't being [[AffablyEvil affable]], all the other villains can be taken more seriously than this guy.
* MistakenIdentity: Oshare mistook him for his missing lover.
* [[spoiler:NotHimself: In ''Yon'' and ''20th''.]]
* NiceGuy: While usually for selfish purposes (if and only if it involves Arle), he often offers his assistance and he honestly never comes across as someone who'd hurt another. He freely offers his assistance to Ringo in 7 and later shows a friendly relationship with her in 20th Anni, is incredibly nice to Arle in particular, and most of the plots he has are of good intentions, if poorly executed. Heck, in 7, if you choose him instead of Ringo, he'll personally rid Ekoro out of Arle's body.
** DoggedNiceGuy: Of course, he tries ''too'' hard in getting Arle's attention. He made tickets to a Hot Spring for her (which he tore up, and made into runes for her to find, only for her to throw it out), and has tried to impress her on multiple occasions, none of which really succeeded.
* NoCampaignForTheWicked: Being the original (and recurring) FinalBoss of the series, it's generally PlayedStraight, but there have been some [[AvertedTrope aversions]]: his own story modes in ''15th'' and ''20th'', as well as being Ringo's playable partner in two chapters in ''7''.
* NothingPersonal: Satan doesn't seem to mind that Carbuncle's left him for the Sega era. Though, his original intention was to ''give'' Carbuncle to his fiance, so he expected that he'd transfer ownership at some point.
* NotMeThisTime: In Puyo Tetris, Lemres reports that he's been sighted at the same time that Tetrimino started appearing in Primp Town. Arle and Ringo jump to the conclusion that he's the culprit... and Satan throws a tantrum and runs away, citing this trope. However, Schezo actually believes he isn't the culprit, and helps clear his name. After Arle apologizes, Satan is happy enough to point out the location of the true cause being somewhere in outer space. Unfortunately, he ends up invoking this trope on another past villain...
* ObviouslyEvil: [[SubvertedTrope Until you actually see him in action]].
* PrepareToDie: His voiced catchphrase in both versions of the first game is "Die!"
* PunchClockVillain: We'd love to say "it's as if he just wants Arle's attention", except that's what he really does want.
* Really700YearsOld: He's 100025 (when Arle is 16).
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Subverted; if he has a plan, it's most likely very silly.
* RejectionAffection
* RuleOfCool: Everything about him is, at first, based on this.
* SadistTeacher: Implied. After he screws up his wish in ''15th'' for a role as [[ExactWords tutoring Ms Accord's students]], he vows payback on every last one of the little brats. Popoi feels sorry for the kids.
* {{Satan}}: ...We think.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Disaster, Juggernaut, Catastrophe, Cataclysm]], and Ascension. ''Sun'' also had Punish, Darkness, and Tempest.
** His console ''Yon'' incarnation is themed around the circus: Showtime, Pantomime, Beast Show, Mirror Magic, Illusion, and "''Circus!''"
** And his handheld ''Yon'' incarnation is (mostly) themed around natural disasters: Typhoon, Snow Slide, Thunderbolt, Volcano, Devil Twister and Satan Cross.
* StalkerWithACrush: And Schezo calls him out on this.
* ThisCannotBe: His defeat quote in ''15th''. Although not spoken, his defeat portrait in the first game has him babbling in disbelief.
* TooFunnyToBeEvil: There's not many moments (if any) where he's to be taken seriously.
** ''SUN'': Increasing the sun's size for an endless summer.
** ''Minna De Puyo'': [[spoiler: Tore up a ticket for two for a hotspring clinic and]] created runes out of it. He tricked Arle into collecting these runes to rescue Carbuncle.
* VillainousBreakdown: In Sun.
--> '''Satan''': Ahh! A Bald spot!? The dark wizard made my head bald! (Sobbing)
* VillainousCrush: On Arle. Why? According to official Compile sources (e.g. stated by Satan himself in Waku Waku Puyo Puyo Dungeon), the reason Satan is so determined to marry Arle is ''because Carbuncle is with her''. The full explanation: Before meeting her, Satan had already decided that, once he found his "queen", he would give her that which he treasures the most—Carbuncle—as proof of his love. Of course, since Carbuncle voluntarily chose a specific girl, Satan doesn't even consider other options! This is also why Rulue often tried to steal Carbuncle from Arle in order to get Satan's love.
* VillainsOutShopping: Satan in his Hawaiian shirt trying to have fun and get a good tan by enlarging the sun in PP Sun. Just watch the intro [[ here]]...
* WhosLaughingNow: He gets a rare last laugh in Schezo's story in Sun. After the latter ruins his sun enhancing tech and [[PokeThePoodle scorches a bald spot on his head]], he catches him from behind and gives him an offscreen beatdown.
* YourCostumeNeedsWork: Called out by Klug in his own story for 15th.

-->''[[ThatCameOutWrong I only desire Arle!]] [[ShipTease Nothing more...]]''[[note]]When denying he loves Arle.[[/note]]

Though "friend" is a broad term to describe him, Schezo is a Dark Wizard who wields the ancient Dark Sword. His goal is to obtain Arle's power, but he may pursue any power he finds interesting.

* AccidentalPervert: Assumed by many, '''much''' to his dismay.
-->'''Schezo:''' [[AccidentalInnuendo I want you to give me all of you!]]
-->'''Arle:''' You know, it makes you sound like a pervert when you put it that way.
* {{Adorkable}}: On one hand, we have a Dark Wizard who keeps a cool head, despite his problematic articulation. On the other hand? He ''adores'' cute things and doesn't even try to hide it.
* AllIsWellThatEndsWell: Was once an enemy to Arle, they now just hang out from time to time.
* AngryFistShake: He sometimes has it during some cutscenes, but is usually seen as his defeated animation.
* AnimeHair: It was... rather poofy in the [=Discstation=] animation shorts.
* AttractiveBentGender: As "Sherry", who has only made an appearance in ''Shin Madou Monogatari'' (a novel series of the game).
* BadassCape: You rarely see him without one. In ''Madou Monogatari: Tower of the Magician'', he wears ''two of them'', and in ''Puyo Quest'', he has a capelet over his cape once he's at gold. Oh, and he learned dark magic when he was only 14. ''Before he even succeeded the title of Dark Wizard.''
** AllEncompassingMantle: Has one in ''YON'' and a hooded one in 7.
* BadassUnintentional:
** ''Madou Monogatari: Tower of the Magician'' simply begins with a quest for power. [[spoiler:But then it escalates into fighting Dark Matter, who defeated Wish off screen, then possess her after getting defeated once by Schezo. Schezo eventually wipes him out on the second battle, freeing Wish and prevented impending destruction.]]
** In his story on ''20th'', he gets himself caught in the same mess Arle's involved in, and he defeats Satan in her place.
* BagOfSpilling: He only has Areiado, Flame, and Blizzard in ''Waku Puyo'', when he's supposed to have more than that. [[JustifiedTrope Then again, he did get his magic power stolen.]]
* BerserkButton: Don't call him a pervert.
* BigShutUp: Drops one on Draco in her story in ''20th Anniversary''.
* BigWhat: His response to Witch saying "[[BorrowedCatchphrase I want you]], alright?" in ''SUN'' (He stammers the word in this case.) and ''20th''.
* BlushSticker: Dons them as Nekomimi Schezo at gold rank in ''Puyo Quest'', and in ''Puyo Tetris'' when he crosses into CutenessProximity.
* ButtMonkey: To start, he gets stuck in a trap, burned alived, stung without noticing, [[MistakenForGay mistaken to be gay]] while remembering a [[NoodleIncident past incident]], gets called a pervert at least four times, and finally gets beaten up by Satan after giving him a bald spot. ''In the entirety of SUN's Hard story.'' In 15th, just about half of the people he's encountered calls him a pervert (Arle notwithstanding), within and outside his story.
* TheCameo: Interestingly, he's part of a scare spell Arle uses in ''Madou Monogatari: Genesis''.
* [[CatGirl Cat Boy]]: As Nekomimi Schezo, via AnimalEaredHeadband and a faux tail.
* CatchPhrase: "I want you!" The translations loosely interpret it to "Be my desire!".
* CaughtInASnare: Within the first few seconds of his story in ''SUN''.
* ChewingTheScenery: Briefly invoked in ''20th'', when Rulue calls him out on being very dull and to-the-point in his story. Also happens in ''15th'', where he says his catch phrase in an spectacularly overblown manner to Arle.
* TheComicallySerious: This guy here puts up a serious, dignified image to exemplify his status as Dark Wizard. Then when he mangles his choice of words, that front is immediately thrown out the window.
* ContinuityNod: On his "Aloha Shirt" alternate in ''Puyo Quest'', one of his quotes proclaims "It's such a shining day today... and not of someone's doing for once.", referencing ''SUN'''s plot.
* CreepyGood: Bad first impressions aside, he's genuinely an intimidating person to trifle with, wielding vast amounts of dark magic. He's done more heroics than villainy throughout the series.
* CutenessProximity: Schezo finds Dongurigaeru, Onion Pixy, and Ocean Prince(!?) adorable. Arle, however, manages to exploit this in a drama track and gets a free shot on him.
** ImTakingHerHomeWithMe: He finds Dongurigaeru cute enough to trigger this. '''Twice.''' It's one of the few times he says "I want you!" ''on purpose!''
* CoolSword: A magical sword, no less!
** BlackSwordsAreBetter: ''Translucent'' swords are better.
** OnlyTheChosenMayWield: He had to fight ''the very sword he's wielding'' to be deemed worthy to wield it in ARS.
** SwordOfPlotAdvancement: This is the last weapon he picks up, and is the strongest out of what he can equip.
* DarkIsNotEvil: He's [[AntiHero certainly not]] [[GoodIsNotNice the nicest guy]] for a protagonist, but he has good intentions.
* ADayInTheLimelight: He's the main character of Madou Monogatari: [[MageTower Tower of the Magician]]. He also serves as the player character of ''Sun's'' Difficult course, as well as being the central character of ''Puyo Tetris'' DLC chapter EX 9: Dream of Primp.
* DeadpanSnarker: Some of his victory quotes are pretty much his way of kicking his opponents while they're down.
--> '''Schezo:''' (to Arle in 20th) Hmph. Would you like me to teach you how to chain?
* DependingOnTheArtist: Schezo's sword has countless designs for each of his appearances. PC-98 ''Madou Monogatari II'' is scimitar-like in appearance, ''Madou Monogatari ARS'' makes the blade black, the blade flip-flops between being opaque and translucent (Tower of the Magician makes it clear as glass), ''Waku Puyo'' makes the grip long enough for two hands, among numerous hilt designs that would take too much time and space to describe them all. So far, the Sega-era designs have been consistent, only going through subtle changes through ArtEvolution.
* DownTheRabbitHole: Rather, down a mirror in Madou Monogatari ARS. He comes back as the next Dark Wizard.
* DubNameChange: "[[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Devious]]" in the English arcade translation.
* EnemyMine: He may be a rival, but he is willing to ally alongside Arle to punish Satan.
** [[spoiler:In a villainous case, should Arle side with neither him or Satan in Game Gear Madou Monogatari II, he and Satan team up to take down Arle. They succeed. Instant game over!]]
* EvilVersusEvil: In the first arcade game, he planned to use Arle's power to take Satan's place as the ruler of Puyo Hell. Retained in the English translation, just replace "ruler of Puyo Hell" with "[[CutAndPasteTranslation Prince of the Black Kingdom]]".
* ExactWords: The main reason Schezo's wish got corrupted. Because his pronunciation of the word "pervert" was very specific, the medal assumed that specific pronunciation and granted it from there. The translation works around the end result by using "weirdo" instead of the regular pronunciation.
* FingerlessGloves: Some of his costume designs has him wear these, but he seems to be wearing them regularly since 15th Anniversary.
* FoeRomanceSubtext: Thanks to his very loose choice of words, it often sounds like he wants more than just Arle's power. Even after a clear explanation of what he wants, Risukuma interprets it as him being [[CanNotSpitItOut unable to spit it out]] and suggests he should confess his love to her in person. Arle easily flustering him doesn't help.
* GetOut: And don't disturb his peace and quiet time! Klug wanted the cave's crystals for himself, Sig made a mess with Schezo's belongings just to find a bug, and Risukuma finds the climate suitable for his experiments. Schezo was ''not'' happy and promptly chases them[[note]]Well, Sig left on his own to chase the bug.[[/note]] out. Then he ends up getting caught in the mess Arle planned to stop. Poor Schezo doesn't get a break.
* GoshDangItToHeck: "Confound it!" instead of actual swears.
* GuestStarPartyMember: A particularly ''zigzagged'' case in ''Saturn Madou Monogatari'', in which he joins and leaves Arle and Rulue multiple times over the course of the game. Ultimately, he is not a member in the final battle.
* HeavySleeper / NPCRoadblock: You're going to need to wake him up to get past that bridge in ''BOX's'' Quest mode. How? [[spoiler:Hot tea. The resulting awakening makes him jump frantically from burning his tongue and eventually falls into the river.]]
* HeelFaceTurn: He comes to Arle's aid when she confronts Satan in the Game Gear ''Madou Monogatari II''.
* HoldingYourShoulderMeansInjury: Not the shoulder per se, but he holds his side after sustaining moderate damage, then his chest after heavy damage in ''Madou Monogatari: Tower of the Magician''.
* IdiotHair: In his design for 15th onward.
* InnocentlyInsensitive:
** He calls Rider an "imp", but it offended her because it's not true. He's apologetic at first...[[BerserkButton then she calls her a pervert in response...]] Imp it is then.
** Then he tells Rulue Satan might be fearful of her physical prowess as a result of her lack of magic. The latter sets her off and proceeds to beat the crap out of him.
* {{Irony}}: The Space-time Crystal he encountered in the prologue of ''Waku Puyo''? He attempted to take its power, only for ''his own power'' to get stolen. He wasn't happy about that, and ventured into Waku Puyo Land to get his power back.
* ItsProbablyNothing: He gets ''stabbed on the back of the head with a syringe'' by Honey Bee, shrugs it off after failing to find her, and passes it off as a figment of his imagination. Then you realize she's your next opponent.
* JapanesePronouns:
** One of the issues Schezo has that labels him as a pervert is that he tends to use archaic pronouns... that happen to have romantic undertones in modern japanese.
** His alternate voice in ''20th'' replaces the "omae"[[note]]"you"[[/note]] in his CatchPhrase with "kisama"... which while without romantic undertones, still has one that is drastically different from what he wants to mean.
* {{Leitmotif}}:
** 15th gave him, and you're seeing this coming; [[ "I Want You!...r Power!"]]
** His theme in 20th is [[ "The Gorgeous Man Who Defiled The God"]]. Doubles as a CallBack to Madou Monogatari ARS, being the title of a boss theme in the S Story.
* LightIsNotGood: {{Downplayed}} (Due to him being an AntiHero) the times he's used white clothes, which is most of the pre-''Fever'' games.
* [[spoiler: LosingYourHead: Ever seen a decapitated head fight back? ''...Yeaaaah...'']]
* LostInTranslation: The pun on Santa Schezo's skill "Santastorm" is untranslatable in English. Thunderstorm, his first chain spell, is spelled サンダーストーム, while Santastorm is spelled サンターストーム; one ''dakuten'' off.
* MagicKnight: Though in this case, the Knight is the subclass.
* MistakenForGay: By Rulue in ''SUN'', after he was NotDistractedByTheSexy.
* MyInstinctsAreShowing: Implied defiance in ''Puyo Quest'' as Nekomimi Schezo. One of his quotes is him telling you to ''stop'' waving a foxtail grass in front of him, implying he might pounce at it if you keep doing it.
* MysticalWhiteHair: Then again, he does come from a world filled with magic.
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: In an ancient in-universe language, his name means "the gorgeous man who defiles the god". And his signature move means "breaking the wing of an angel".
* NoNameGiven: In the original MSX2 version of ''Madou Monogatari II'', he was just called "The Mage".
* NoodleIncident: According to Rulue. Given how loose the context is, it could be seen as Schezo being MistakenForGay when he said he is not interested in Rulue's body.
--> '''Rulue:''' Huh?! Are you perhaps... Well, not what you mention it, there was that time, and back then, and even right now... You were doing that kind of things and this kind of things...
* NotDistractedByTheSexy: He just passes by a sunbathing Rulue without batting an eye at her.
* NotHimself: In Madoh Monogatari, where he's possessed by his light counterpart, [[OurSoulsAreDifferent Lagnus]].
* OnlySaneMan: In ''Tetris'''s story mode, while everyone believed Satan was the culprit behind the falling Tetrimino, he's the only one that does not jump into conclusions and manages to convince Arle it was not his doing, and also helps her have Rulue snap back to her senses. It still does not prevent Schezo from being a ButtMonkey, however (due to Arle having him endure Rulue's speech about Satan).
* RealMenWearPink:
** Apparently Schezo knows how to bake a cake in 20th Anniversary. '''In a cave.'''
** Going into Madou Monogatari territory, he wore a pink dress as Sherry.
* RecurringBoss: In the Game Gear version of ''Madou Monogatari II''.
* ReverseGrip: He holds his sword this way when he casts Sting Shade or counters with Dunamis in 20th.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: While he stated he stopped caring about his age in Madoh Monogatari Saturn, he's canonically ''180'' years old.
* TheRival: Well, one of Arle's straighter examples.
* SayMyName: Shouts out "ARLEEEEEE!" when she ditches him in ''Puyo Tetris''.
* ShirtlessScene: [[spoiler:You ''have'' to fight him half-naked in ''BOX's'' Quest mode. There's even another portrait to reflect this!]]
* SignatureMove: Areiado; the technique even serves as his voiced catchphrase in the first two games.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The early games couldn't decide on whether his name was spelled "Schezo", "Shezo", or "She-zo".
** In an example that crosses over into NoPronunciationGuide, the English arcade game ''might'' have changed Areiado to "Areiad." It's tough to tell, between the not-so-great vocal quality and the...[[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent whatever]] accent that the voice actor attempted.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: [[ShockAndAwe Thunderstorm]], [[CastingAShadow Sting Shade, Areiado, Shadow Edge, Areiado Special.]] As expected from a Dark Wizard, he mainly uses dark magic. In previous games, he had Crush, Lwark Void, and Sagitta Adamas. He once used his sword for a chain animation, but it changed into a chain sound clip as opposed to an actual chain attack.
* SwordPlant: His VictoryPose in 15th and 7.
* SwordPointing: A couple of his sprites in dialogue has him do this. Sun, 15th and 7 are some examples.
* ThatCameOutWrong: 50% of his dialog is this when it comes to Sega. Arle knows it well enough to fill in the blanks for him, and even Schezo himself has grown mildly aware of this.
--> '''Schezo:''' Now, I...want to do you!\\
'''Arle:''' Um... I think you mean "want to do battle with you."
* VerbalBackspace: What he does when he catches himself sputtering something that doesn't come out right, though more frequent in the Sega games.
* VocalDissonance: His DLC voice in ''Puyo Tetris'' gives him the voice of a little boy, reminiscent of his child form in ''7''.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Played with; straight in ''Madou Monogatari II'' (especially the PC-98 version), but subverts it in the Sega-era.
* YeOldeButcheredEnglish: Borders with it; he has the speech pattern, but never uses the words.
* YouKillItYouBoughtIt: A non-lethal variation. This is how he got his title in ''Madou Monogatari ARS''.

* AgonyOfTheFeet: One beating from Raffine later, she just barges past him, stomping on his tail fin in the process.
* AscendedExtra: He's only slightly less prolific than ''Carbuncle'' in advertising. He also has more game appearances than any other ''Madou Monogatari'' {{Mook}} aside from the Puyo themselves.
* DanceBattler: His ''Sun'' attacks are dance moves. Most of his animations are themed around surfing in the Sega games, but the attacks themselves still involve dancing.
* DeliciousDistraction: Arle thinks about eating seafood whenever she is around him in ''Minna''.
* ADogNamedDog: His name translates to "Alaskan Pollock", a type of fish.
* DubNameChange: Becomes "Goby Captain" in the English arcade game.

** [[ "Suspicious Dance Shoes"]] in 20th.
* LoveHurts: This guy has a thing for Seriri, but she only sees him as a friend. He didn't take getting friend-zoned very well.
* MeatOVision: He turns into a seafood dinner in his ''Tsu'' defeat portrait.

!! Witch
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari III
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/KonamiYoshida (Puyo Puyo CD), Nodapon (Puyo Puyo SUN, Discstation Shorts), Creator/YukoMizutani (Puyo Puyo~n), Sakura Kaoru (20th - Present)

-->''I want you, alright?''

A hyper-active, if not a little mean, witch. She's yet another of Arle's rivals.

* AllWitchesHaveCats: Averted!
* AnyLastWords: Word-for-word in the English arcade game. Instead of coming up with a witty reply, Silvana simply asks where Witch comes from.
* BitingTheHandkerchief: Only does this in ''YON'' though.
* BlushSticker
* TheCameo: Alongside Harpy in 7 (She looked like [[ this]]). However, unlike Harpy, [[PromotedToPlayable she was made playable]] in ''20th''.
* CatchPhrase: "Oissu," which is a very informal greeting. It is replaced by "Yah-hey!" in the English arcade game, while the English version of ''Minna'' translates it as "Yo!"
* CuteWitch
* ADayInTheLimelight: Starred in a SpinOff game titled ''Comet Summoner''. Weird how Sega gave us a Comet Warlock...
* DubNameChange: Averted in the arcade translation, along with Mummy, Zombie and Carbuncle.
* [[EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep Everyone Calls Her Witch]]: Though the games fail to give us any reason to believe that [[HisNameReallyIsBarkeep her name isn't actually Witch]].
* EvilTwin: She's not particularly heroic, but she still receives one named "Dark Witch."
* FakeSpecialAttack: One of the ''Puyo Puyo'' anime shorts depicts a battle between Witch and Arle. After Witch knocks Arle to the ground, she casts Meteor; unfortunately for Witch, only a single tiny star falls to the ground.
* FireIceLightning: Her ''Puyo Puyo CD Tsu'' spells include Fire and Thunder (as opposed to Arle's Fire and Ice Storm), and she uses Icefreeze in the aforementioned anime short.
* FlyingBroomstick: She's seen with one in ''Sun'' and carries it over for an animation in 20th.
* GigglingVillain: One of her recurring traits, even when she's not doing something mischievous. Most notable in the first game (especially the ''Puyo Puyo CD'' version), where she only stops giggling long enough to acknowledge Arle.
* IdiotHair: During Sega's run.
* InnocentInnuendo: She wants Schezo...'s white clothes in SUN.
** And in 20th she wants Schezo...'s hair for a potion.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Darkness of PuyoPuyo2"]].
** BootstrappedLeitmotif: The theme debuted as the Floor 4-5 BGM of, as the name implies, ''Tsu''.
* PalmOnCheekPose: When taking major damage in ''Puyo Tetris''.
* TheRival: [[ A more proper example]].
* SignificantBirthDate: Halloween.
* SoreLoser: Shades of this in ''Minna''. After Arle defeats her, Witch yells that she'll give up the rune if Arle "just goes away."
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: Meteor, Tachyon, Black Hole, Quasar, and Big Bang [[StarPower all have relevance to stars in the sky or celestial bodies]].
** She serves as an EvilCounterpart of sorts to Arle in ''Puyo Puyo CD Tsu'', using Fire, Thunder, Brain Dumbed and Jugem.
* TalkingInYourSleep: She mumbles "I love you very much." after grabbing hold of Arle ''while sleeping''.
* YouFool: Her victory phrase in ''20th''.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: According to ''SUN'', '''she's 13'''.

[[folder: Original Characters (Secondary)]]
%%Try and keep this to the most common versus characters.%%
!! Harpy
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari III
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/WakanaYamazaki (Puyo Puyo CD), RIU (Puyo Puyo SUN, Discstation Short, Madou Monogatari: The Final Test, Madou Monogatari Saturn), Creator/SatomiKoorogi (Puyo Puyo~n), Creator/RisaTaneda (Puyo Puyo!! Quest)

--> ''What? You'd like to hear me sing? Gladly! Okay! Get ready to be moved to tears! [[ThisIsGonnaSuck Here I go!]]''

A pink-haired girl wearing white with cream-colored wings. She loves to sing; unfortunately, she is ''[[DreadfulMusician terrible]]'' at it.
* AdaptationDyeJob: Her hair color shifted from pink to light orange between the early Madou and Puyo games, possibly due to palette limitations. She eventually went back to having pink hair in SUN.
* AngelicBeauty
* {{Bowdlerization}}: The English arcade game strips her of all of her angelic qualities and renames her "Dark Elf" for good measure.[[note]]The "Dark" part comes from a [[ palette-swapped]] dress.[[/note]] These changes don't carry over into ''Puzlow Kids''.
* TheCameo: Alongside Witch in 7.
* CatchPhrase: Sings a solfège with the lyrics: "Ha-ra hire ho-re ha-re."
* CuteButCacophonic: Perhaps not to the level of [[MakeMeWannaShout The]] [[OurBansheesAreLouder Banshee]] [[TheDividual Trio]], but her songs are still an unpleasant surprise to anyone who happens to hear them.
* CuteMonsterGirl: Once you get past the off-key notes. The sole exception is the DarkerAndEdgier [=PC98=] port of ''Madou Monogatari 1-2-3'', where she resembles a traditional harpy.
* DoesNotLikeShoes
* DreadfulMusician: The exact source of annoyance (tone-deafness, constant singing, or noisiness) varies from game to game. See also MusicalAssassin below.
* FlowerInHerHair: Her alternate version "Songstress Harpy" has one, but it gets switched out with a hair ribbon upon evolving to gold.
* GiftedlyBad: Shown when she teaches Seriri how to sing "correctly". Everyone within earshot was not spared.
* HarpingOnAboutHarpies
* LuckBasedMission: AI Harpy starts each match by lining the left and right walls with Puyo in hopes of creating surprise chains. Though not as crazy as Suketoudara's stacking method, it is nowhere near as effective as Nohoho's.
** Her console ''Yon'' and ''Box'' powers turn her Nuisance Puyo into random colors.
* MusicalAssassin: Her spell theme consists of her singing. Her skill in ''Puyo Quest'' causes a power reduction on blue-colored cards, while Songstress Harpy's skill (Which translates to [[DoubleMeaning Melodic or Horrific]] Chant) outright does direct damage.
* VocalRangeExceeded: ''Quite'' easily, since she doesn't have any vocal range to speak of.
* WakeUpCallBoss: In the first game, her stage features the first major [[DifficultyByAcceleration drop speed increase]].
* WingedHumanoid

!! Incubus
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari III
--> '''Voiced by:''' Tachibana Tasogare (Puyo Puyo SUN arcade/Saturn), Kotatsu (Puyo Puyo SUN N64/PSX/PC, Madou Monogatari Saturn), Creator/YasunoriMatsumoto (Puyo Puyo~n), Hisayoshi Suganuma (Puyo Puyo!! Quest)

-->''[[GratuitousEnglish Hi, honey.]]''

A womanizing demon who wants to become intimate with Arle. Despite this, none of his advances have been successful.
* BigOMG: His defeat quote, in complete English.
* {{Bishonen}}
** LongHairedPrettyBoy
* {{Bowdlerization}}: Said defeat quote above got DummiedOut of the English version of ''Minna''.
* TheCameo: In ''Puyo Puyo~n''
** PromotedToPlayable: In the GBC version.
* TheCasanova: Not a very successful one though.
* CoolMask: As Masked Incubus, for a masquerade.
* GratuitousEnglish: One of his defining traits.
* HornyDevils: Gee, [[SarcasmMode I do wonder why]] that's his name! Not that any sex is mentioned, though.
* {{Narcissist}}
* SomethingAboutARose: He's rarely seen without one.
* PrecisionFStrike: The cinema between him and Arle in ''Sun'' results in Incubus dropping, in a thick Japanese accent, "Oh, shit!".
* SpearCounterpart: Not so much in the early games, but ''Puyo Puyo!! Quest'' advertised him alongside fellow HornyDevil Succubus.
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: Is on the receiving end of this in ''Puyo Quest'', after he hits on a purple-clothed warlock named [[{{Bishounen}} Sullivan.]] Said warlock looks like [[ this.]]
* WeakenedByTheLight: He could not accompany the party in Madoh Monogatari because of this.
* YourMakeupIsRunning: The cause of the above F-Strike.

!! Kikimora
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari: Michikusa Ibun
--> '''Voiced by:''' Sakanaya-san (Puyo Puyo SUN, Discstation Short), Yumi Hikita (Puyo Puyo~n), Akane Fujikawa (Puyo Puyo!! Quest)

-->''Right after I clean it up so carefully, you come along and cover it with footprints!''

Surprisingly, she isn't a monster girl, [[ and doesn't look at all like this.]] She is a blonde maid who is obsessed with keeping everything clean.
* BlushSticker: In her Fever-style redesign.
* ADayInTheLimelight: ''Kikimora's Clean Up'' from the [=PC98=] incarnation of Disc Station.
* EvilTwin: Has one named "Black Kikimora." Whether intentional or not, her default ''Box'' power goes along with this theme; instead of clearing her garbage (Nuisance Puyo), she turns the opponent's unmatched Puyo into Nuisance.
* IdiotHair: That single bang she has didn't stand completely up back then, though.
* InNameOnly: A ''very'' loose interpretation of the traditional Kikimora.
* {{Meido}}
* '''NeatFreak''': In this girl's mind, cleanliness is VERY SeriousBusiness. Poor Arle found out the hard way in ''SUN''.
** This is referenced in her ''YON'' Super Attack, which erases all garbage (Nuisance Puyo) from her side of the field.
* TrainingBoss: Her story segments in the GBA Puyo Pop are all about getting used to various types of Puyo. By the end, Arle flat-out asks for the new rules immediately upon seeing Kikimora.
* WakeUpCallBoss: Because of her Super Attack in ''YON'', she can give players who can't grasp chaining Puyo a lot of problems.

!! Lagnus Bishasi
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo SUN
--> '''Voiced by:''' Sakanaya-san (Puyo Puyo SUN), Tomoko Miura (Puyo Puyo~n), Akira Miki (Puyo Puyo!! Quest)

--> (To Schezo) ''Aren't you the perverted magician?! Stay right there, don't move!!''

A warrior from another world clad in gold armor, known as Lagnus the Brave. He is Schezo's light counterpart, but is cursed to age down to a child.
* AffectionateParody: Of traditional RPG protagonists. He resembles the early Heroes from Franchise/DragonQuest, receives 50 EXP from killing a Puyo, and one of his attacks is named Level Up.
* ButtMonkey: So, this guy's pants can't stay on him after he ages up, and he ages down after his attack on [[TheChewToy Schezo]], of all people, falls flat. Is this how you're supposed to introduce a character?
* {{Curse}}: He's forced to age down to 10 years old. Lagnus is 17 by default.
* CanonImmigrant: He started as a novel-only character before making it into Puyo games, ''and into the main RPG series after that.''
* ComedicUnderwearExposure: And this was supposed to be his game ''debut.''
* DecoyProtagonist: You play as him in the prologue of Madou Monogatari Saturn, but that's it. [[spoiler:He, however, ''does'' become one of your party members at the climax of the story.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Schezo.
* HairColorDissonance: In ''SUN'', it's a very dark shade of brown in the manual. In-game, however, it's black.
* HeroesPreferSwords
* KidHero: When he's aged down, anyway.
* KnightInShiningArmor: Near the end of ''Minna'', he offers to protect Arle when she ventures into Satan's castle. Arle responds by [[BerserkButton calling him a kid]].
* LightEmUp: His primary element.
* LightIsGood
* MagicKnight: He packs some powerful light spells, as well as superb healing magic.
* OurSoulsAreDifferent: His was separated from his body, and occasionally possesses Schezo's to communicate.
* PlotRelevantAgeUp: Via leveling up. Really.
* PromotedToPlayable: Had a cameo in the console version of ''Yon'', became playable in the GBC version.
* SharingABody: He "borrows" Schezo's body at his expense to communicate with Arle and Rulue. However, he can't take control of him for long stretches due to his soul clashing with Schezo's dark magic. The result? Schezo wakes up to find himself in really bad scenarios he's completely unaware of.
* SignificantBirthDate: AprilFoolsDay.
* SignatureMove: Final Cross. It serves as his LimitBreak in Madoh Monogatari.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: The end result of Madoh Monogatari's prologue.
* YeOldeButcheredeEnglishe: In the English version of ''Minna''.

!! Minotauros
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari III
--> '''Voiced by:''' NobuyukiHiyama (Puyo Puyo CD), Murasaki-shu (Puyo Puyo SUN, Discstation Shorts), Creator/YuichiNagashima (Puyo Puyo~n), Hiromichi Tezuka (Puyo Puyo!! Quest)

--> ''Mooo! I won't have you badmouthing my Rulue! I shall avenge Rulue's honor by defeating you! Mooo!''

Rulue's personal servant, the Minotauros joins as another point in the line that is the character relation map of love.
* AnAxeToGrind: Is often seen with a giant axe.
* BerserkButton: Early in ''Minna'', he and Arle have a normal conversation up until the latter accuses Rulue of being selfish. Minotauros's response is the above quote.
* BodyguardingABadass: Why does Rulue, the Fighting Queen, have a bodyguard that she can easily pummel into submission in five seconds? We'll never know.
* BodyguardCrush
* DeclarationOfProtection: Subverted in the fact that, despite being in love with Rulue and acting as her bodyguard, Rulue has no romantic interest in Minotauros at all.
* DemotedToExtra: Minotauros is the final boss of the MSX and [=PC98=] ''Madou Monogatari III'' and was a high-level opponent in the first two games. He is reduced to an NPC in ''Sun'' and ''Yon'', and his only appearance after ''Minna'' is in the ''Puyo Puyo!! Quest'' spinoff.
** PromotedToPlayable: Between the console and GBC ''Yon''.
* DistractedByTheSexy: In the FMV ''Puyo Puyo Sun'' opening, a particularly-[[{{Fanservice}} Fanservicey]] shot of Rulue causes Minotauros to fan her with a giant leaf so hard that she is tossed out of her beach recliner.
* ADogNamedDog: A minotaur[[SpellMyNameWithAnS (os)]] named Minotaur[[SpellMyNameWithAnS (os)]].
* DoggedNiceGuy
* DubNameChange: "Max Minotaur" in the English arcade translation.
* ALoadOfBull
* MightyRoar: Two variations; ''Saturn Madou''[='=]s increases his own attack power, and "Roar of Love" in ''Puyo Quest'' lowers purple cards' attack power.
* NothingPersonal: He flat out tells Arle that he doesn't hate her; he's just following orders.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: As with Draco, Sega dropped the "-os" suffix in the international version of ''Minna''. And as with Draco, the fandom promptly [[FanonDiscontinuity ignored Sega's spelling]] in favor of [[FirstInstallmentWins Compile's original romanization]].
* SuddenlyVoiced: Inverted, as far as called attacks go, in ''Pocket Puyo Puyo~n''. The game recycles voice clips from console ''Yon'' and console ''Sun''; since Minotauros wasn't playable in either game, he gets absolutely nothing.

!! Nasu Grave
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari I
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/RyoHorikawa (Puyo Puyo CD), Creator/DaisukeSakaguchi (Puyo Puyo! 15th Anniversary)

A glasses-wearing eggplant with stubby arms and legs. He is on-edge around humans, who he believes are out to eat him.
* AuthorAvatar: Based on the founder of the ''Madou Monogatari'' and ''Puyo Puyo'' series, Kazunari Yonemitsu. He wears glasses and hates eggplants.
* BerserkButton: Don't call him old, or a tomato.
* BlushSticker
* CatchPhrase: "Otankonasu!" (Translates to either "eggplant with ash" or "potato-head." Either way, it is equivalent to calling someone a fool.)
* DubNameChange: Is [[InNameOnly inexplicably]] renamed "Blue Ghost" in the English arcade game.
* IsItSomethingYouEat: He thought Primp Town was edible pudding. Considering Primp (プリンプ) has ''very'' close spelling to the Japanese word for pudding (プリン), it's understandable.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Doesn't Matter Who it is"]].
* LostInTranslation: "Blue Ghost's" English catchphrase ("Moron!") is a result of the translator(s) attempting to handle his Japanese catchphrase. Anyone who doesn't know about the original version will probably dismiss it as generic TrashTalk.
* NerdGlasses
* {{Planimal}}
* PlayingWithFire: His main method of attacking.
** KillItWithFire: In Madou Monogatari, ''[[HoistByHisOwnPetard his own fire attack kills himself]].'' In ''15th'', his "heavy damage" animation depicts him suffering from RumpRoast.
* PunnyName: Nasu (eggplant) + Musgrave.
* UnexpectedCharacter: Reappears in ''15th Anniversary'' despite being absent since ''Tsu'', beating out recurring "Beginner" character Skeleton-T to boot.
* VerbalTic: Adds "Nasu" to the end of his sentences.
* WarmupBoss: He served as the Lesson 2 boss of the first ''Puyo Puyo's'' Beginner mode. It's referenced in ''15th''; Arle tells him that he probably can't win the tournament, which he responds to by asserting that he's not as weak as he used to be.
* YouFool: It's in his catchphrase.

!! Nohoho
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari II
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/SachikoSugawara (Puyo Puyo CD TSU), Kerol (Puyo Puyo SUN), Creator/KenichiOgata (Puyo Puyo~n)

-->''Regardless, you still have to buy something. Store policy.''

A traveling amphibious merchant. He enjoys curry, despite the fact that he's allergic to it.
* CatchPhrase: His name doubles as this.
* IntrepidMerchant
* LuckBasedMission: Nohoho drops all of his Puyo into the right side of the field. Unlike Harpy's and Suketodara's luck-based stacking methods, Nohoho's also keeps the critical third-from-left column empty for as long as possible.
** Additionally, his ''Yon'' Super Attack reshuffles his Puyo, column-by-column.
* PaletteSwap: Muhoho in ''Box's'' Quest mode.
* SelfInducedAllergicReaction: He's willing to endure it to eat curry.
* SignatureLaugh: "No ho ho!" Yes, his name is his laugh.
* SoreLoser: In ''Minna'', if you defeat him while you have his Rucksack, he argues that the Puyo match didn't count. Arle makes him admit defeat before she hands over the sack.
* TheBattleDidntCount: The aforementioned Sore Loser entry above. Only occurs during the Item Trading sidequest, though.
* ThemeNaming: Nohoho, like most (but not all) ''Madou Monogatari''/''Puyo Puyo'' merchants, has a three-syllable name with the final two syllables repeating. Other examples include Momomo, Parara, and Fufufu.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Curry. [[SelfInducedAllergicReaction It causes him to break out in very unsightly bumps]].
* WakeUpCallBoss: Very much so in ''Tsu''.

!! Seriri
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Tsu
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/NaokoMatsui (Puyo Puyo CD TSU), Eriko Kawasaki (Puyo Puyo~n), Haruka Yoshimura (Puyo Puyo!! Quest)

--> ''I knew it! You're here to eat me because I'm a mermaid, right?''

A blue-haired mermaid who is eager to make friends. Unfortunately, she is also afraid of strangers because she believes that eating mermaid flesh grants immortality.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Played with. In ''Tsu'', she is afraid of being ''teased'', not eaten. However, Arle's retort about any type of seafood being delicious could be seen as the basis of her future character traits.
* ChocolateOfRomance: Has a bag of homemade chocolates as Lovestruck Seriri in ''Puyo Quest''. Actually a subversion in that she doesn't quite understand how Valentine's Day works.
* ADayInTheLimelight: "Seriri's Happy Birthday" for the Windows version of Disc Station.
* ADogNamedDog: [[SubvertedTrope Subverted]]. She is called "Uroko Sakana Bito" ("Scaly Fish Person", her species name) in ''Tsu'', but her real name is noted in ''Tsu's'' instruction manual and is used in subsequent games. In fact, she and fellow mermaid [[PaletteSwap Merrow]] are the '''only''' ''Madou Monogatari'' {{Mook}}s that manage to escape both this trope and ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin.
* DreadfulMusician: After Harpy's "lessons" in one of the animated shorts.
* FlyingSeafoodSpecial: She swam through the air when she was a Madou mook, but the creator eventually forgot this, pinning her underwater. Then she starts carrying a magic stone which allows her to move around out of the water.
* HairAntennae: Two small ones.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Despite this, she's afraid of getting eaten.
* LoveAtFirstNote: Apparently, [[ Seriri can make ANYONE fall in love with her voice]].
* MobileFishbowl: She is seen in a wooden tub in ''Tsu''.
* OnePersonBirthdayParty: The opening and the bad ending of ''Seriri's Happy Birthday''. Well, [[AddressingThePlayer not exactly one person]] in the ending.
* OurMermaidsAreDifferent: Can't shapeshift, but obtains a trinket that allows her to traverse dry land in ''Seriri's Happy Birthday''.
* PaletteSwap: ''Madou Monogatari 1-2-3'' and the ''Nazo Roux'' games featured a red and more aggressive Uroko Sakana Bito named Merrow, who would be referred to as Uroko Ningyo (Scaly Mermaid) in certain ports of Madou Monogatari I. ''Tsu'' introduces a blue and shy Uroko Sakana Bito, Seriri, [[CanonImmigrant who would eventually replace Merrow in later Madou Monogatari games]]. In ''Box'', which features both, Merrow is a recolored Seriri.
* RapunzelHair
* RightForTheWrongReasons: Several characters, including Arle herself, ''have'' expressed interest in eating her, not to gain immortality -- which it's not clear is anything but an odd delusion of hers in this setting -- but because she's technically seafood.
* SignificantBirthDate: She is a Pisces.
* SirensAreMermaids
* UnusualEars: Fins.

!! Skeleton-T
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari I
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShigeruChiba (Puyo Puyo CD), Guts Nakamatsu (Puyo Puyo SUN arcade/Saturn), Creator/YoshinoriFujita (Puyo Puyo SUN N64/PSX/PC), Creator/KenichiOgata (Puyo Puyo~n), Chikara Ousaka (Puyo Puyo 7)

--> ''Ocha!'' [[note]]''Tea!''[[/note]]

A skeleton who enjoys sipping tea. Later it becomes a trio.
* AdaptationDyeJob: A minor one from ''7'' to ''Puyo Quest''. The body stripe on the main skeleton goes from red to blue.
* ArtificialStupidity: His AI never rotates his puyos.
* BerserkButton: Predictably, he loses it when Draco causes all of his tea to evaporate.
* DemBones
* TheDividual: In ''7''.
* DubNameChange: Simply called "Skeleton" in the English arcade translation.
* FrothyMugsOfWater: For some reason, his tea is changed to an "herbal potion" in the arcade translation.
** LostInTranslation / BilingualBonus: Yet his catchphrase stays the same.
* IncrediblyLamePun: Tells Arle that he has "a bone to pick" with her in the GBA Puyo Pop.
** From ''7'':
-->Skeleton T Trio: "It's 'T' time!"
-->Ringo: "That's just lame!"
* JokeCharacter: His Super Attack in ''Yon'' is an ever-increasing Nuisance Bonus...that requires the player to avoid rotating their Puyo. To put this in perspective, other powers include blocking Nuisance Puyo for 15 seconds (Arle), removing Nuisance Puyo altogether (Kikimora), and reshuffling every Puyo on the field (Nohoho), none of which have extra conditions like Skeleton T's power.
** Played with in ''Pocket Puyo Puyo~n'', where his default power instead locks the ''other'' player's rotation. Luckily, his AI is as dimwitted as ever.
* LampshadeHanging: In ''Minna'', Arle points out that Skeleton-T shouldn't be able to enjoy tea [[spoiler: [[DontExplainTheJoke -- considering he doesn't have a tongue with which to taste it]]]]
* PunnyName: See IncrediblyLamePun.
* ASpotOfTea: You never see him without a cup of it.
* SuspiciousVideogameGenerosity: He offers you a cup of tea that fully heals you in ''Waku Puyo Dungeon'', at the end of the first dungeon. After that brief cutscene, you go into battle with him, being a boss. You can ''decline'' his offer, but why would you reject his hospitality?
* TamperingWithFoodAndDrink: Attempts to feed Arle drugged tea in ''Tsu'', with Arle guessing correctly that it is a trap. (She uses a YouJustToldMe ploy to confirm this in the fan translation.)
** In ''Minna'', Skeleton T tells Arle that she fell into a trap by drinking his tea. [[spoiler: Turns out that he made it with ''used'' teabags.]]
* TookALevelInBadass: In ''Minna'', [[spoiler: he randomly shows up in the last area, which features Zoh Daimaoh and the recurring antagonists. Subverted in that he's not much more difficult that he was at the beginning of the game.]]
* WarmUpBoss: He's the first opponent in almost every single Puyo game that features him. This is likely a ContinuityNod to ''Madou Monogatari I'', where a Skeleton-T is the first "forced" encounter in the game.

!! Zoh Daimaoh
--> '''First Appearance:''' Madou Monogatari III
--> '''Voiced by:''' Main/DaisukeGouri (Puyo Puyo CD), Yasutoshi Akiyama SSS (Puyo Puyo SUN), Creator/HirokiYasumoto (Puyo Puyo! 15 Anniversary)

--> ''Giant Rage!''

An Indian elephant whose name literally translates to "Elephant Demon King." He is known for his fits of rage, which are triggered by nearly ''[[HairTriggerTemper everything]]''.

* [[ThemeNaming Attack Theme]]: All of his attacks use the word "Gekido" which, of course, means "rage."
* BurningWithAnger: In ''Sun'', the heat makes him so angry that he ''melts a hole into the ground.'' In Schezo's story, after he climbs out of the ground, Schezo refers to him as a "demon from the depths." This makes Zoh Daimaoh so angry that he grabs Schezo and creates a ''second'' hole.
** DontTryThisAtHome: In Schezo's story, Zoh advises against using his special technique.
-->Schezo: "Like a human could possibly do that?!"
* DemotedToExtra: He served as an opponent in the first three arcade games, but in ''Puyo Puyo~n'' he's absent in console versions and only cameos in ''Pocket Puyo Puyo~n''.
* DifficultySpike: In the first game, he is the last {{Mook}}-based character. The game's drop speed is kicked up another notch and he goes for more chains than most of his predecessors.
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: Said nearly verbatim in the English arcade game, after Silvana complains that his earth-shaking stomp is scaring away the surrounding animals.
* DubNameChange: "Elephant Lord'' in the English arcade game.
* FunnyAnimal
* HairTriggerTemper: His defining trait.
* HiddenDepths: The Saturn and Playstation versions of ''Tsu'' reveals he has a fondness of birds.
** His wish in ''15th'' is to be a king who would bring peace in a rich country, in a future with hope.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "I'm the Zoh Daimaoh".]]
* SuperStrength: The puyos he drop make the screen shake.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: A minor example compared to the above, but his name is officially spelled Zo-Daimaoh. Interestingly, the fandom does ''not'' use this spelling despite the fact that it is used in the first game.
* UnexpectedCharacter: Though slightly less surprising than Nasu Grave (prior to the Fever series, Zoh Daimaoh only missed ''Puyo Puyo~n''), he is still re-introduced to the series before notables such as Draco and Witch.
* UnstoppableRage: Emphasized in a few games, where he moves at top speed and the screen actually shakes as his Puyo hit the floor.
* VerbalTic: Adds "zou" to the end of his battle phrases.
* YouShallNotPass: Tells Arle that "none shall pass" on two separate occasions in ''Minna''.
** BecauseISaidSo: His reasoning on the first encounter.
** HeyThatsMyLine: They second time they meet, Arle immediately (and correctly) assumes that Zoh will follow up with "None shall pass unless we play Puyo Pop." Unsurprisingly, stealing Zoh's lines makes him very angry.

[[folder: Characters Introduced in ''Puyo Puyo Fever series'']]
!! Akuma
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever 2
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakumiYamazaki

--> ''Please stop calling me "old man". It makes me feel my age.''

A kind demon in the form of a blue teddy bear, and curator of Primp Town's museum. He's one of the wiser residents of Primp Town, but is known for his violent vocal changes.
* TheCameo: Child Feli holds an Akuma-shaped teddy bear.
* [[FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Friendly Neighborhood Demon]]
* GenreSavvy: For someone who only appeared in two games as a minor character before being PutOnABus, he manages to prove he's one of the smartest characters in the series:
** In ''Fever 2'', he encounters Sig in his [=HaraHara=] course and gives him a charm with an inscription that, when it's read aloud, prevents Strange Klug from taking over Sig's body shortly afterwards.
** He also manages to avoid falling under BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor when stating his wish to the medal in ''15th'', by explicitly stating that he wishes for no demon be able to ''enter'' Primp Town. Since he is already in Primp Town, he's allowed to stay in spite of being a demon.
* HighClassGlass
* HiddenDepths: To Suketoudara's surprise, he used to ''breakdance'' when he was younger!
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ Precise Museum]].
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: He has very good intentions, wishing that no demon would be able to enter the town (He's already a resident to begin with, so he's unaffected).
* PunnyName: A mix between "aku" (evil), and "kuma" (bear). Putting both together also makes the word for "demon".
* Really700YearsOld
* VerbalTic: Kuma
* VocalDissonance: One moment it's his normal, low register, the next he's '''''SHRIEKING AT THE TOP OF HIS LUNGS!'''''

--> ''Let's play Puyo!''

The protagonist of the Fever series, Amitie is nice, but a bit ditzy. Her heart is in the right place, and though she's better at reacting to things than Raffine or Sig, she still ends up jumping to wrong conclusions.
* ActionGirl: While not as competent as Arle, she still goes the distance to set things right.
* AsleepInClass [=/=] [[GoodMorningCrono Good Morning, Amitie]]: Her story in ''20th'' begins like this.
* BigWhat: Her response to Ringo telling her about [[BishieSparkle Maguro's "Beauty Beam"]].
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The blonde to the "A" Trio.
* CatchPhrase: "Get real!"
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Her mind certainly flows differently.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: According to the light novel ''Amitie and the Mysterious Egg'', she reveals she's not too fond of mushrooms.
* DumbBlonde / HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Manages to fit both; she can be sillier and slower-witted than Arle or Ringo, but is much more sweeter.
* EasyAmnesia: Happened to her in 7. Ringo, being GenreSavvy, just had to lampshade it.
* ExpressiveAccessory: Her Red Puyo Hat.
** IconicItem: Iconic enough to be featured in VideoGame/PhantasyStarOnline2!
** NiceHat
* {{Expy}}: Of Arle; the main difference between them though is that, while Arle was TheComicallySerious, Amitie isn't. Notably, Sega flirted with the idea of some DivergentCharacterEvolution (see Spell Theme below), only to turn around and give Arle's signature Bayoeen spell to Amitie.
* FirstPersonPerspective: The Puyo Light Novels are told entirely from her perspective.
* GeniusDitz: To be frank, Amitie's not too bright in school. She is, however, very passionate in her Puyo matches.
* GenkiGirl
* GoodIsDumb: She really means well, but is very, very scatterbrained at times.
* GoshDangItToHeck : More so than everyone else.
* InSeriesNickname: Rider calls her "Ami-san".
* JapanesePoliteness: Backfires when she perfunctorily says that she doesn't want the reward and Ms. Accord takes it literally.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ Fairy Fair]] in 15th, and [[ "Her Dream Is To Be a Fantastic Sorceress"]] in 20th.
* MagicStaff: Red Amitie wields one.
* MaybeMagicMaybeMundane
** Everybody knows that Popoi is just a plain ol' puppet that Ms. Accord makes speak with magic, but she believes he is alive. He is. Is she TooDumbToFool, or...?
** She can discern Klug and Strange Klug because they wear different glasses. Is she ComicallyMissingThePoint, or...?
* MeaningfulName: "Friendship" in Latin; [[NiceGuy she's possibly one of the friendliest characters in Fever]].
* NiceGirl: The word "hate" doesn't seem to exist in her vocabulary. She doesn't even bring herself to dislike the resident assholes, no matter how much they rip into her.
* ParasolOfPrettiness: Carries one as Stylish Amitie in ''Puyo Quest''
* PowerGivesYouWings: As she evolves in Puyo Quest, she gets decorated with wings as displayed in her [[ Silver]] and her [[ Gold]] forms.
* SignificantBirthDate: May 5, Children's Day.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: Shares the FireIceLightning theme with Arle, through Flame, Blizzard, Lightning Bolt. ''Fairy Fair'', a PillarOfLight attack, mirrors Arle's Heaven Ray. Subverted when Blizzard is replaced with ''Blast Beat'' in 15th Anniversary, and then ''[[BlowYouAway Cyclone Whirl]]'' in 20th Anniversary.
* {{Squee}}: Has one moment when she drops in on Ringo and Maguro talking about the "you-know-whats". She shortly becomes disappointed when she finds out what the "you-know-whats" are, though.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Tomboy to Raffine's Girly Girl, thought not that much.
* TotallyRadical: Some of her dialouge in the Engish version.
* VSign: Her VictoryPose of choice.
* YouShallNotPass: To Schezo in chapter 9 of Puyo Tetris, the second DLC chapter. She tries to protect Sig, but her attempt backfires spectacularly when she loses and [[DidIJustSayThatOutLoud accidentally tells Schezo where Sig went.]]
* ZettaiRyouiki: Grade A as Sweet Amitie in ''Puyo Quest'', starting from Silver rarity.

!! Baldanders
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever 2
--> '''Voiced by:''' Hisayoshi Suganuma

A {{Hellhound}} wearing armor that Feli accidentally summoned at one point. He's very protective of Feli and follows all of her commands, but doesn't seem to like Lemres.
* BigFriendlyDog: He towers over Amitie!
* EvilDetectingDog: Possibly.
* GentleGiant
* GoodLipsEvilJaws: He looks like he could tear your head off, but he's just a big sweetie.
* GuardianEntity: For Feli.
* {{Hellhound}}: Wings, claws, red fur, razor-sharp teeth...
* IntelligibleUnintelligible: Sometimes.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: He may not like Lemres that much, but he still wants Feli to be happy.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Military Watchdog! Baldanders".]]
* MeaningfulName: A Baldanders is a German shape shifting creature with the upper body of a human, the legs of a goat(or a leg of a goat and one of a bird), has bird wings, and has a fish tail. May be subverted, since we don't know if Baldanders ''is'' a shape shifter.
* MyMasterRightOrWrong: Even if Feli ignores him, Baldanders is still loyal to her.
* TheyHaveTheScent: Or, at least, Amitie wishes he did.
* TheFaceless
* [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse What Happened to the Dog?]]: The last we hear him was in ''15th Anniversary''.

!! Dongurigaeru
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> '''Voiced by:''' Naomi Wakabayashi

-->''Ribbit ribbit!''

A round frog that rolls around in an acorn top. He has some sort of connection to Amitie, and is often seen singing.
* AnimalTalk: Frogs and onions can somehow communicate. There's even a whole scene dedicated to him and Onion Pixy [[ here.]]
* BlushSticker
* BouncingBattler: As depicted in his attack animations.
* BulletSeed: With acorns instead of seeds.
* DemotedToExtra: In Puyo Tetris, along with Onion Pixy. Only appears to make Schezo {{Squee}}.
* {{Expy}}: Of Nohoho.
** LuckBasedMission: the point of using the exact same AI.
* FloatingInABubble: His counter animation makes him form a bubble barrier.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Has [[ "Ribbit Ribbit"]] for 15th.
** ...and for some reason the title is unchanged, even if it was given an entirely [[ new theme.]]
* MeaningfulName[=/=]PunnyName: His name translates to "acorn frog" which is at the same time a pun on the word "dengurigaeri" (forward roll).
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: ''Schezo'' finds him cute enough to take home!

!! Feli
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever 2
--> '''Voiced by:''' Yukie Maeda

--> ''You there... you're thinking of a bad thing... aren't you?''

Feli is Lemres' underclass woman, dressed like a gothic lolita, and she is absolutely smitten with him. She's skilled in divination, ''very'' intimidating, but shows her sweet side to Lemres.
* BerserkButton: Don't mention you want to become like Lemres or better than him. Klug's a frequent offender of this.
* BlushSticker
* CannotSpitItOut: She tried to ask Lemres out on a date, but unfortunately asked for a [[LastSecondWordSwap Delicious]] Puyo Match instead. Oops.
* ChocolateOfRomance: As Lovestruck Feli, holding a heart-shaped chocolate box as part of a Valentine's Day-themed event in ''Puyo Quest''. No points guessing on who she's giving it to.
* CloudcuckoolandersMinder: Subverted. Though she follows Lemres around, she never actually gets involved with anything he does.
* DarkIsNotEvil: She is in the side of good (Or rather, Lemres's) but this does not stop other characters from finding her unsettling.
* ElegantGothicLolita
* TheFatalist: She's completely convinced it's her destiny to get with Lemres. He, naturally, disagrees. On the other hand, Feli has the power to foresee the future and, according to Lemres, change fate.
* TheJailBaitWait: Inverted, minus the sexual content. She wants her age to catch up with Lemres' (due to her wish in ''15th'') so she can have a proper relationship with him.
* KidWithTheLeash: Subverted; she has a huge hellhound at her disposal, but doesn't do anything with him at all.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "The Name for Thinking by the Window is..."]] for 15th.
** 20th gives her [[ "Hidden Feelings"]].
* LickedByTheDog: Baldanders cares a ''lot'' about her.
* MayDecemberRomance: With Lemres.
* MeaningfulName: Felix means "lucky".
* {{Meido}}: Her adult form in 7 has strong shades of this.
* MyNewGiftIsLame: Acts this way towards Baldanders.
* NightmareFuelStationAttendant: Klug, Amitie and ''especially'' Ringo find her attitude creepy.
* NotSoStoic: Goes ballistic in 15th when Klug says he'll "become like Lemres". Of course, the moment's played for laughs, with Klug not helping.
* PalmOnCheekPose: When she takes major damage in ''Puyo Tetris''.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: Feli wears a skirt with white tights.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: Her hair color can be read like this.
* SempaiKohai: Junior to Lemres. She even refers him as "senpai".
* StealthPun: Feli has a [[RedStringOfFate red ribbon]] tied around her head.
* SugarAndIcePersonality: Normally cold to most people, but sweet to Lemres. She has IrrationalHatred towards Klug instead of ice though.
* ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend: Well, not exactly girlfriend, but she's very defensive of Lemres.
* WingsDoNothing: She sports a pair of purely decorative angel wings as [[ White Feli.]]
** PowerGivesYouWings: White Feli has even ''stronger'' AI than her normal version.

!! Frankensteins
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> '''Voiced by:'''
--> Frankendad - Takuo Kawamura
--> Frankenson - Creator/MieSonozaki, Brett Walter (English)

-->''Daddy says... "End! We won't let you pass!"''

A pair of, well, Frankensteins that appeared in only the first two games. Frankendad is TheUnintelligible, and his son has a VerbalTic.
* BadassFamily: One of the stronger opponents.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome
* DropTheWashtub: One drops on the Frankensteins father when large amounts of nuisance puyo fall on his field.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin
* FamilyBusiness: In Puyo, at least.
* FrankensteinsMonster: Two of them.
* LightningCanDoAnything: This is what brought Frankenson to life.
* RoboFamily: A scientist created Frankendad created Frankenson.
* TheUnintelligible: Mr Frankenstein.
* VerbalTic: "Freh" and "(My)Daddy says..."
* WackyParentSeriousChild

!! Klug
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/MieSonozaki, Thessaly Lerner (English)
--> '''Stage Actor:''' Marina Tanoue

-->''They're[[note]]A bookworm[[/note]] very cool. In fact, there's nothing cooler... than being smart and looking good with books. Like myself. I'm the coolest of them all, actually.''

Local genius of Primp Town, Klug serves as a sort of MrExposition, with knowledge of several events (but never willing to reveal them).
* AdjustingYourGlasses: By the bridge in ''Fever 1 and 2'' and ''15th'', and by the corner in ''20th''.
* {{Angrish}}: Has one moment in his story where he just mutters complete nonsense in front of Sig, while under the effects of Witch's Secret Juice. [[ The voice acting humorously doesn't even follow the text!]]
* AltumVidetur: Has a tendency to use latin words in his spells.
* AssholeVictim: He's at the same time a {{Jerkass}} and a ButtMonkey, suffering from {{Demonic Possession}}s from time to time, and being picked on by Raffine and Feli, among others.
* AesopAmnesia: He's possessed by his book in Fever 2. Still has it with in 15th. Still with him in 7th. '''Still''' with him in 20th. And no, he didn't find a way to get rid of the demon.
* {{Bookworm}}: So he says.
** BadassBookworm: Should he feel the need to do something helpful.
* BirdsOfAFeather: Shares a moment in ''Puyo Quest'' with fellow dark magic practitioner Miriam. He even declares him as a rival!
* ConflictBall: Drops these so much you'd think it would be ForTheEvulz.
* DemonicPossession: Well, what did you ''think'' was going to happen when you carry around a possessed book? Some people just have to learn the hard way...and with Strange Klug filling in for Klug's adult transformation in [=PP7=], [[WhatAnIdiot I guess he never learned]].
* DrunkOnMilk: The entirety of his story in 20th began with him getting drunk on Witch's Secret Drink. What the heck did she use to make that anyway!?
** MoodSwinger: One of the drink's effects is this.
* EvilIsNotAToy: [[spoiler: Collected the items needed to release the demon within his book ''on choice''. Doesn't help that he covers up his mistake to Amitie at the end of her Hard Course in ''Fever 2'', saying that it was "an experiment to see what would happen if one was possessed".]]
* ExactWords: His wish in ''15th'' was to have his success written in a 16 page spread in the Monthly Kuromage, the town's local magazine. Popoi acknowledges how specific it is, but his hopes get shot down after Ms. Accord points out he'll get his wish ''if'' he becomes successful, which he failed to mention. So much for that spread, eh?
* {{Fanboy}}: To Lemres.
* TheGadfly: He was clever enough to use different provocations against Amitie and Raffine.
* GeniusSweetTooth: Implied by the abundance of chocolate-based snacks he brought to school in ''Amitie and the Mysterious Egg''. Earlier, he had a chocolate bar stating it's the best food to snack on while studying, and he passes off the abundance of chocolate pie, chocolate chip cookies, and chocolate pudding as [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial "mere coincidence"]]. Considering that Lemres is also a GeniusSweetTooth, it's possible Klug is trying to imitate him.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: He wears Purple as a neutral color, but borderlines on "evil".
* GoodIsNotNice: He does not have bad intentions, and occasionally helps the heroes, but he's a {{Jerkass}} towards everyone bar Lemres (whom he idolizes) and Feli (whom he's terrified of).
* {{Haiku}}: All (in Japanese) / most (in English) of his incantation can be divided into lines with five or seven morae/syllables.
-->Saa, maware\\
Gin no tsuki\\
Kin no taiyou\\
Shikkoku no sora\\
Ware ni chikara o!

-->There, come to me now\\
Golden sunlight, silver moon\\
[[OneOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers Jet black cosmos]]\\
Give me your power!
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: Has a dream of being famous enough to earn 17 pages in the local magician's magazine. Isn't going so well right now.
** IJustWantToBeYou: His more mentioned dream is to become as important as Lemres is.
* InsufferableGenius: When he smugly claims he knows everything about the problem at hand, he actually does, even if he will not tell you it before beating him in a Puyo match. In spite of his attitude, it says enough that, in the ''Everyone's dreams coming true!?'' LightNovel, when ''[[{{Jerkass}} Raffine]]'' starts doubting whether what she sees is actually a dream, her voice of reason is a projection of Klug.
* '''{{Jerkass}}''': We would be shocked if he actually did something nice that ''isn't'' towards Lemres (or Feli, whom he is terrified of talking to).
* TheKnightsWhoSaySquee: He's a genius; we can't deny that. Even so, he idolizes Lemres.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "I'm the Greatest, Ever!"]] in 15th.
** [[ "Nebula Step"]] in 20th.
* MeaningfulName: "Klug" is German for a lot of things; wise, clever, smart, prudent, shrewd...
* MilkingTheGiantCow: His laughing sprite, though only with one hand. The other is held back, holding onto the book.
* MrExposition: {{Defied}}... at first. You will need to defeat him in a [[SeriousBusiness Puyo match]] to get information from him.
** In Fever 1, he tells Raffine and Amitie where the wand is located.
** In Fever 2, he holds the items required by the plot.
** In 7, he explains why Puyo is raining down.
* NerdGlasses: Large, circular frames in wires...
** ScaryShinyGlasses: Which have a tendency to obscure his eyes when he wildly grins. Occasionally downplayed to a single lens-flare.
* NiceHat: Never seen without one. He has a checkered newsboy hat in place of his usual cap as Coffee Shop Klug.
* NotHimself: In Fever 2, his Deka transformation in 7, the 20th Anniversary alternate costume for him...
* PowerFloats: His book is seen floating when he casts powerful spells.
* PowersViaPossession: Into Strange Klug.
* PrideBeforeAFall: Klug looks unhappy about being sealed in a book. When he's released, he brushes it off like nothing happened.
** [[spoiler:PetTheDog: He does learn from this though; he ends up giving the final item used to break the book's seal to Amitie rather than keep it.]]
* PurpleIsPowerful: His AI's one of the stronger characters, and his fast chains can be a challenge to someone who doesn't know what they're doing.
* RecognitionFailure: From Satan's story in 15th. Although, to be fair, [[ he thought Satan was a myth]]... but it doesn't change the fact that he found Satan out from a book, and stated that this "cosplayer" looked just like him.
* RedOniBlueOni: Red to Sig and Strange Klug, blue to Raffine and Amitie.
* ScreamsLikeALittleGirl: He has a noticeably high-pitched scream when he sustains heavy damage.
* [[SealedEvilInACan Sealed Evil in a Book]]: [[WhatTheHellHero Given to him by Lemres.]]
* SignatureLaugh: UHYAHYAHYAHYA!
* SmartPeopleWearGlasses
* SoulJar: The book he carries around with him has a red spirit that pokes out of its pages now and then. [[spoiler: It's also what he gets sealed into whenever Strange Klug takes over.]] And he continues to carry it, even when it's ''still'' possessed.
* SupernaturalIsPurple
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: ''[[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Nebula]], [[AltumVidetur Lacteus Orbis]], [[StarPower Nebula Macula]]...'' Meanwhile, ''Ignis'' means [[PlayingWithFire fire]].
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: Has one in Strange Klug, who has stronger AI.
* [[TokenEvilTeammate Token Evil Classmate]]
* TooDumbToLive: [[RunningGag Have we mentioned he's still carrying around a book that could, apparently, posses him at any moment?]]
** Let's take this small part from ''The Record of the Sealing'', an in-game book, just to show you what went wrong in ''Fever 2'':
-->You '''should ''not''''' open this book near the 3 items [[IdiotBall I have written in the page before.]] The seal will be broken and there the [[OhCrap "evil soul" will...]] [[LostInTransmission (too smudged to read)]]

!! Lemres
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever 2
--> '''Voiced by:''' Creator/TakumiYamazaki

-->''Now then, Mr Akuma. Shall we play our game of Puyo? If I win, you'll be given five candies. Okay?''

A senior magic student of the neighboring, unnamed town, Lemres was the boss of the [=WakuWaku=] course in ''Fever 2''. He's actually very strong and intelligent, but hides it behind being Sega's answer to Schezo.
* AffablyEvil: At least he debuted as a boss.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: His quirks are off-putting at first, but his skill in magic is nothing to sneeze at.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Is a famous warlock; popular enough to appear in magazines.
* ButtMonkey: In his debut game anyway. The ending of each of the [=WakuWaku=] routes in ''Fever 2'' ends with him being beat up in some form. Sure Sig undid his, but it's only until Amitie finds out that he's the visitor in question, and is dragged to Primp Town, still beaten up.
* ColorCodedWizardry: Is clad in ''dark'' green.
* CompressedAbstinence: His story's plot in ''20th''. He attempts to wean himself from using candy to power his magic, and it goes about as well as you'd expect from a guy with a SweetTooth.
* {{Expy}}: Of Schezo, though he exchanges the rivalry for his own quirks.
* EyesAlwaysShut: Fans in Japan though can't seem to decide if they should match his color scheme with gold eyes or turn him into a HeroicAlbino.
* FlyingBroomstick: Carried one around prior to ''20th'', where he switches it out for his wand. Though, as ''Sig's Secret'' shows, he can simply conjure one up with a wave of his wand.
* InstantExpert: T teaches him how to play Tetris. Lemres catches on fast enough that he claims he could even beat T... and does so in the next stage.
* LostInTranslation: The pun in Uncanny Lemres is lost when translated. The adjective is spelled "おかしな". If you drop the な (Na), you get おかし, which, fittingly, is the word for "sweets".
* MadnessMantra: He gets a bit...loony under sweets withdrawal.
** "Sweeswsweesweswsseesweseaesewesweetsweetswetsweetswe..."
** And then he goes "Cake...Cake. Cake? Cakecakecakecake! '''[[ CAAAAAAAAKE!]]'''"
--> '''Schezo:''' [[OhCrap UWAAAAAA!]]
* MagicWand: He switches out his broom for this in 20th.
* {{Motifs}}: Feli keeps comparing him to a comet that will "bring the light" and wants to "keep people from blocking her light".
** {{Leitmotif}}: [[ Rising Comet]]; this theme, along with Strange Klug's and Popoi's, has yet to be changed.
* MysticalWhiteHair
* NiceGuy: Once you get past the suspicious implications, he's really kind at heart.
* NotWhatItLooksLike: Lemres attempts to give candy to Amitie in her course. Pretty much speaks for itself.
* OlderThanHeLooks: In ''15th'', Accord explains that Lemres uses anti-aging spells on himself.
* ParentalAbandonment: An implied inversion. The Drama [=CDs=] disclose that he has a father, but ''Fever 2'' lists "his own house" as a dislike. ''Puyo Quest'' flavor text also states that he doesn't come home much and enjoys his freedom. It can be pieced together that he left his home by choice, for an unstated sour reason.
* PeekABangs: [[EyesAlwaysShut Not like you can see them anyway.]]
* SempaiKohai: He's Feli's senior.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: [[GratuitousFrench Rissoler, Rouleau, Sucre Filé, Caramelisér, and Glaçage]]. 15th Anniversary adds [[GratuitousFrench Fariner]] and [[GratuitousFrench Forêt Noire]], then 20th Anniversary adds [[GratuitousFrench Parfait]] and [[GratuitousFrench Confiture]]. In translation, minus Parfait (which is a desert), they mean "to brown", "to roll", spun sugar, caramelize, glaze/frosting, "to flour", Black Forest (Cake), and jam. Predictably, they're related to sweets, baking or otherwise.
* SpoiledSweet: According to ''Puyo Quest'' flavor text and a drama CD, he's actually of nobility, even having a maid and butler! And despite his suspicious implications of sharing candy, he is very much so a [[JustForPun sweet]] guy.
* SweetTooth: He has an endless supply of them, he makes them himself, and in the ''Sig's Secret'' Light Novel, even conjures an abundance of them out of thin air! Justified in that it's his PowerSource. ''Really.'' He tried to train [[CompressedAbstinence without his candy for a few days]] in ''20th'', but it doesn't go well.
** GeniusSweetTooth: Earning his status ''before he even graduated magic school'', he possibly could be this.
* [[MeatOVision Sweets O Vision]]: Dongurigaeru is not a melon gumdrop!
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Sweets, of course. According to ''15th Anniversary'', his absolute favorite candy is swirly lollipops.
* WeirdnessCoupon: He gets away with randomly passing out candy because no one seems to mind.
* WhatTheHellHero:
** Gave Klug a book with a powerful demon inside for no good reason.
** Forces Amitie to play Puyo with him with the stakes of "winner fights Strange Klug".
** Wishes for the sea to turn into jelly, '''killing the entire ocean ecosystem.'''
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Subverted. He has the hair, gets called suspicious at times, but he's generally a nice (albeit odd) guy.

!! Ms. Accord
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> '''Voiced by:''' Miwa Kouzuki
--> '''Stage Actor:''' Juria Kawakami

-->''Let's begin.''

The mysterious schoolteacher of Primp Town that holds the living cat puppet Popoi. She seems sweet, but holds some strange secrets [[TheUnreveal that are still unexplained]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Her single player AI (outside of 15th and 20th's story modes) is among the hardest, regularly up there with the FinalBoss characters.
* ConsultingMisterPuppet: Subverted in that the puppet is alive.
* DemotedToExtra: In Puyo Tetris. Appears in a ContrivedCoincidence moment at the end of chapter 5 where [[spoiler:she tells the cast about a special area they can train in, in order to increase their power and reach the end of time-space.]]
** Appears in the final DLC chapter (chapter 10). [[spoiler: Since X never met her in the real world and only heard about her through T's logs, she is the reason that X is able to determine that the dream world he's in doesn't belong to him, but to T.]]
* EccentricMentor: ''Nobody'' knows anything about her, other than the fact that she's a good teacher with a talking puppet.
* EmpathyPet: Popoi.
* EyesAlwaysShut
* GrievousHarmWithABody: ''Popoi Lance'', where she chucks her pet at the screen.
* [[spoiler:HyperspaceMallet: What Popoi can turn into.]]
** [[spoiler:EasyAmnesia: What it can do.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: Though 15th has [[ Cheerful Surprise Test]], when playing against her in other games, [[ "It's the Teacher's Class"]] usually plays.
* LittleBlackDress: Discussed by Oshare in ''15th'', saying that she should try wearing one. [[CovertPervert Popoi doesn't seem to mind.]]
* MeaningfulName: Ties in with her Spell Theme.
* {{Narrator}}: She isn't a character involved in the stage play's plot. Rather, she and Popoi comment on the events of the story.
* {{School Teacher|s}}
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: In Fever, she used musical terms. It slowly shifted into school-related terms in Fever 2, when her animations were changed.
* TheUnreveal and LeftHanging: So in Fever's [=HaraHara=] Course, what, exactly, was her reason for sending her students on a wild goose chase looking for her "misplaced" flying cane [[spoiler:that she had all along?]] And [[spoiler:[[EasyAmnesia wiping Raffine's memory of it after she found out it wasn't missing]]]]? Sega's lips are still sealed.

[[caption-width-right:215:Dolphin Form]]
[[caption-width-right:215:Human Form]]
A pink dolphin that lives in the neighboring ocean. Very crass and a stereotypical royal-stuckup.

* AmazingTechnicolorWildlife
* BattleButler: Both his actual butler, Otomo, and Sig.
* {{Bishonen}}: His human form looks ''very'' feminine, to Raffine's disappointment.
* BlindIdiotTranslation: His official name is, believe it or not, "Prince of Ocean."
* DemotedToExtra: In Puyo Tetris. Appears once in space along with Suketoudara, and demands him to find a way home.
** He appears in the second DLC chapter (chapter 9) as another one of Schezo's obstacles. He's immediately scared off by Schezo's CutenessProximity mode.
* ExoticEyeDesigns: A four-point star in both of his eyes.
* {{Expy}}: Of Suketoudara's "talking fish" thing.
* TheGadfly: It is implied at the end of his ''20th Anniversary'''s story mode that he pulls pranks on Otomo as he tries to avoid his royal duties.
* HumanityEnsues: Inverted; The Ocean Prince is a prince that turned himself into a dolphin by magic to [[spoiler: get away from his duties at the castle and be free, thus why his butler is always looking for him.]] During Raffine's [=WakuWaku=] course in ''Fever 2'', he's captured and returned to his human form, playing it straight. [[spoiler: He returns to normal though when he gets the Lantern of the Stars back from Strange Klug, though.]]
* MakingASplash: His spells.
%%* TheMindIsAPlaythingOfTheBody: Briefly mentioned at one point...
%%--> "Normally I wouldn't consider [the Dongurigaeru] delicious... but my palate has been altered by this form."
* {{Leitmotif}}: 15th gives him [[ "Ocean Prince ~Graceful Wandering~"]]
** 20th has [[ "Dignity of the Prince"]].
* OverlyLongName: Prince Salde Canarl Shellbrick the Third.
* [[PinkGirlBlueBoy Pink Prince Blue Boy]]: With Sig.
* PrinceCharmless: Described by Raffine as such in ''Fever 2''. Otomo prefers to think he's PrinceCharming, even though he's not.
* RealMenWearPink: His dolphin form IS pink. Even when turned back into a human, his clothes are mostly pink.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Particularly since his redesign in 20th. To [[CutenessProximity Schezo]], he's as adorable as Dongurigaeru and Onion Pixy.
* RoyalBrat: This guy is even blowing off his royal duties. Otomo tries to teach him how to behave like a proper prince, to no avail.
* SignificantBirthDate: He is a Pisces.
* SuperDeformed: In his dolphin form, his arms got shorter and his head got bigger since 20th.
* WasOnceAMan: Changed into a dolphin by choice.
* YeOldeButcheredEnglish: Given this dialect from his Katakana-heavy speech.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: His hair is pink in his human form.

!! Onion Pixy
!!! Voice Actor: Noriko Namiki
-->''Onion! Onion onion!''

A small oni that lives in the forest. He has a crush on a fellow member of his race, Oniko, and considers himself Sig's rival for her love.
* AnimalTalk: Apparently onions and frogs can communicate, if Dongurigaeru's story was an indication.
* BerserkButton: Turns out he doesn't like being called cute. The sight of Sig also provokes him.
* CarryABigStick: Though "big" is relative in this case.
* DemotedToExtra: In Puyo Tetris, along with Dongurigaeru. Only appears to make Schezo {{Squee}}.
* DubNameChange: A weird subversion. He's known as "Onion" in hiragana, but whenever a romanization is required, he is always referred to as Onion Pixy. It's similar to how ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'' and ''Kidou Senshi'' (Mobile Warrior) ''Gundam'' are used interchangeably in Japan, only this applies to a ''character''.
* {{Expy}}: Of Nasu Grave.
* FunSize
* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: Some of his animations require this.
* IJustWantToBeBadass: He wants to become strong to protect Oniko.
* InterSpeciesRomance: Oniko has a crush on Sig.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Has [[ "Onion Forest"]] in 15th.
** [[ "Knight-Errant Onion"]] in 20th.
* MeaningfulName / PunnyName: His head is an onion, but he's also an oni!
* PerpetualFrowner: And his girlfriend is a PerpetualSmiler.
* {{Planimal}}
* PokemonSpeak: All he says is "Onion" in English and Japanese.
** ThoughtBubbleSpeech: The entirety of his story in 20th displays his thoughts, but nearly no one he encounters understands onion-speak.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: [[CutenessProximity Schezo]] finds him as such in ''20th'' and ''Tetris''. [[BerserkButton Just don't say it aloud in front of him]].
* TertiarySexualCharacteristics: Oniko is a shorter version of Onion Pixy with a bow, a smaller horn, eyelashes, and a skirt.

!! Oshare Bones
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> ' 'Voice Actor:''' Makoto Yasumura

-->''Call the fashion police!''

A flamboyantly gay skeleton who is very interested in fashion, and often criticizes the appearances of those around him. He's currently awaiting the day when he can finally reunite with his long-lost lover. Also, in ''Puyo Puyo Fever 2'', he runs the item shop.
* AllGaysArePromiscuous: While no sex is mentioned, he shows interest in multiple characters all within the same game despite having a lover he's waiting to reunite with. (In ''15th Anniversary'', there's Lemres, Zoh, Satan, not to mention a win quote against Ocean Prince:)
-->"Be sure to invite a lot of nice gentlemen to the ball."
* AlwaysCamp
* AnimalMotifs: Each game has little purple bats that appear with him in at least one animation, and the paper his letters are written on in ''Fever 2'' has bat designs.
* ArtificialStupidity: His AI never rotates his puyos.
* BerserkButton: Making even slightly negative comments about his appearance is a good way to set him off.
** Another one seems to be "mocking" his fashion advice, such as when Arle briefly considers borrowing a hat from Amitie. (Whose hat Oshare thinks looks ridiculous.)
* BittersweetEnding: The ending to his story in ''15th Anniversary'' is this, somewhat. [[spoiler: While he is one of the few people to have his wish granted (specifically, a reunion with his missing lover), he uses ambiguous wording when making the wish, that leaves him stuck not knowing when his wish will actually come true.]]
* CampGay: Disturbingly so.
* {{Crossdresser}}: There are a few [[ quotes]] that imply this. Whether he's [[WholesomeCrossdresser wholesome]] or [[CreepyCrossdresser creepy]] is up to you.
* TheDeadHaveEyes: Well, one eye, anyway.
* DemBones
* ExoticEyeDesigns: On top of the severely MismatchedEyes, his right eye has rings in it that no other character has.
* Expy: Takes Skeleton-T's role as ''Fever'''s talking skeleton.
* TheFashionista
* [[FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Friendly Neighborhood Skeleton]]: His fashion evaluations may be harsh, but he seems to be on good terms with many of the other characters. A magazine article in the library in ''Fever 2'' implies that at least some people in town might still be frightened of him, however.
* GlowingEyelightsOfUndeath: But only in one eye.
* GoingCommando: Amitie actually points this out in ''Fever 2'' as described below. Being a skeleton, however, there's nothing in particular he really needs to cover up.
* GracefulLadiesLikePurple: Male example, but is CampGay and certainly acts the part of a lady.
* GratuitousEnglish: His spells, ''Elegant'', ''Psychedelic'', and ''Asymmetry''.
** GratuitousFrench: His other spells, ''Avant-Garde'' and ''Très Bien''.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Not an animal, but is a non-human that wears nothing but a hat and cloak all the same. He gets [[BerserkButton really upset]] when Amitie questions him on this.
* HouseOfBrokenMirrors: In 15th Anniversary, he mentions having thrown away every old photo of himself into the sea, and then begs Lemres not to recover them.
* InterSpeciesRomance: [[ This]] win quote against Zoh Daimaoh, who is an elephant.
* IWasQuiteALooker: He makes some claims like this in 15th Anniversary.
* IWillWaitForYou: He's awaiting the day he reuintes with his missing lover.
* JapanesePronouns: Uses the very feminine ''atashi'' to refer to himself.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[ Looking For a Visitor]]".
* LennonSpecs: Wears a little orange pair.
* LosingYourHead: Common in his hit animations.
* MeaningfulName / PunnyName: Oshare means "Stylish". It's all he cares about. Also, his Japanese name, Oshare Koube, contains "sharekoube" which means skull.
* MementoMacGuffin: [[spoiler:The "Memory of Chu" item in ''Fever 2'' was given to him as a gift by his now-missing lover. However, he threw it into the sea so that he wouldn't be reminded of his lover's disappearance, and once it is found he gives it to Raffine, feeling he no longer deserves to own it.]]
* NoblewomansLaugh
* NobodyOver50IsGay: Averted. He's at least 150, but his age when he died is unknown.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: Likely, since having a skeleton wear black would be cliche (and unfashionable.)
* SeriousBusiness: Fashion is very much this for him. He'll challenge people to Puyo matches over it, in fact.
* ShopKeeper: In ''Fever 2''; it sells everything, from summoning items to live fowl.
* SignificantBirthDate: Christmas Eve, which in Japan is a very romantic holiday.
* TransEqualsGay: While his own gender identity is yet to be revealed, he [[MistakenForGay mistook Zoh Daimaoh for gay]] because [[{{Crossdresser}} he wears a bindi]].
* [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse What Happened to the Fashionable Skeleton?]]: While referenced (though not by name) in ''Puyo Puyo 7'', his last real appearance was in ''15th Anniversary'', which brought up aspects of his life (his appearance and the identity of his missing lover) that due to his absence from the series have not been touched on since.
* WhiteFlag: Waves the flag in his losing animations in ''Fever 2'' and ''15th Anniversary''.
* YouFool: His victory phrase is basically this.

!! Popoi
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> '''Voice by:''' Miwa Kouzuki

-->''[[HonestAxe Is this golden axe what you have been seeking? Or possibly this silver axe?]]''

Ms Accord's black cat puppet, Popoi is usually an assistant. He, much like Accord, is shrouded in mystery, and little is known about who or what he is, though he claims to be "The Prince of Darkness". Takes the place as Fever's villain, appearing suddenly at the end of the [=WakuWaku=] and [=HaraHara=] courses.
* AutobotsRockOut: [[ At least it isn't as head pounding, right?]]
* BigBad of Fever.
* CatsAreMean
* DemonicDummy
* DemotedToExtra: Following Fever, he's usually Accord's sidekick. Given that he's just supposed to be a puppet, this makes sense.
* {{Expy}}: Of Carbuncle, as ''Fever'''s pet with GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere tendencies.
* FinalBoss: Of ''Fever'''s [=WakuWaku=] and [=HaraHara=] courses ([[BonusBoss Carbuncle]] notwithstanding in the latter).
* FriendlyEnemy: If he isn't the villain, he's helping Accord with teaching and running a shop in ''20th Anniversary''.
** PunchClockVillain
* FunSize: Easily fits onto Accord's shoulder despite being a cat.
* HairColorDissonance: Supposed to be black, but is purple in ''Fever 2'' onwards.
** PurpleIsTheNewBlack
* GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere: It does not help that Popoi's LivingShadow form never appeared after ''Fever'' (Not counting ''Quest''), meaning it is never explored in the plot.
* HonestAxe: Tried this with Amitie, as seen above.
* LivingShadow: Or something close in Boss form.
* PerversePuppet
* SignificantBirthDate: February 22, Cat Day.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: ''[[StarPower Galaxy]]'' [[VerbalTic (meow),]] ''[[StarPower Shooting Star, Stardust Whip,]]'' and ''[[StarPower Black Hole.]]''
* TailSlap: Whip meow!
* VerbalTic: Meow.
* YourSizeMayVary: He easily fits in Accord's hands, but he's quite big as a boss. Magic maybe?

!! Raffine
--> '''First Appearance:''' Puyo Puyo Fever
--> '''Voiced by:''' Noriko Namiki, Brett Walter (English)
--> '''Stage Actor:''' Aya Kinoshita

-->''So much for respecting the elderly... How dare you give me that attitude! Forget being nice, I'll just force you to tell me!''

AlphaBitch of Primp Town, Raffine's possibly one of the cruelest characters from Fever, and is the rare case in the entire series; she's the only person mean 24/7.
* AlphaBitch: Good luck finding ''one'' moment in the series where she is not being mean towards anyone.
* AmplifierArtifact (originally) / AmuletOfConcentratedAwesome (from [=PPF2=] onwards): Her pouch.
* AntiHero: She saves the day once in a while? She does. Heroic disposition? '''''YEAH RIGHT.'''''
* BigEgoHiddenDepths: Refined and prideful as she is, her story in ''20th'' shows she's a little self-conscious of her magic power, running off when Lemres points out her waist pouch is her main power source.
* BitchAlert: The most noticeable thing she's ever done is say "[[PrecisionFStrike Damn!]] If it isn't Mr. Goody Two Shoes[[note]]Klug[[/note]]". In an '''E-Rated''' Game.
* BitingTheHandkerchief: Should she be defeated in a Puyo match.
* CherryBlossomGirl: As Sakura Raffine in ''Puyo Quest''.
* {{Expy}}: Of Rulue as a martial artist among magic users, though with her {{Jerkass}} traits UpToEleven. Unsurprisingly, they get along well when they encounter each other in ''20th''.
* FullContactMagic: It's almost mandatory for her to do this, if she wants to cast any spell.
* GirlyBruiser: Prim, proper, strives for beauty, yet she's the most physically fit of the class. Her chaining power is one of the strongest in the series.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: Averted. Despite wearing mostly pink, she's capable of making even ''villains'' look nice.
* GreenEyedMonster: She envies Amitie for her magical potential.
* HairDecorations: A single wing hairpin which happens to be the school's emblem.
%%* IdiotHair
* IrrationalHatred: She mocks really everyone she comes across. Defied by her relationship with Klug, where he [[AssholeVictim very much deserves it.]]
* ITakeOffenseToThatLastOne: Strange Klug has revealed that he [[VillainBall broke the item she needed and possessed Klug.]] How does she react? "ThisIsUnforgivable that you broke my chance of beauty!" [[spoiler:Turns out you ''need'' to break the stone to release its power.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: '''''BIG TIME''''', along with Klug and S.
* KickChick
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler:One smack on the head later and she remembers nothing about her little search for the flying cane.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[ More Beauty, More Strength!]]"
** For 20th, she has [[ "I'm Elegant, Graceful and Powerful!"]]
* MagicSkirt: None of her kicks seem to flip her skirt up.
* MeaningfulName: French for "refined", and ''boy'' does she act like it.
* {{Narcissist}}: Her story lines in Fever 2 and 15th could be summarized as "Beauty Quest 1" and "2".
* NoblewomansLaugh: "Oh hohoho!" Done when she enters Fever. It translates to "Oh la-ti-da!" in dialogue though.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: It's not hard to miss Raffine's overuse of orange and yellow compared to Sig's blue and white.
* RoseHairedSweetie: '''Subverted'''. She has the hair, aspires to have her own prince, but is far from being sweet.
* SailorFuku: Her ''Fever 2'' outfit has the silhouette, but her current ensemble from ''20th'' onward has a much looser interpretation. Her orange cardigan somehow has the sailor's collar and tie, and only strays a bit further in ''Puyo Tetris'', which adds cuffs to it.
* [[HeKnowsTooMuch She Knows Too Much]]: [[spoiler:This is the reason her memory got wiped. She got to the castle faster than Accord predicted and found out the lost cane story was a load of baloney.]]
* SleepyHead: Her ''Puyo Tetris'' DLC voice consists of incredibly drowsy attacks, as well as yawning while under attack.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: GratuitousFrench
** Her first and third magics revolve around [[AnIcePerson ice]], [[MakingASplash rain]], and [[ShockAndAwe thunder]].
** Her second and fourth magics are [[PlayingWithFire fire]]/[[ThePowerOfTheSun sun]]-based.
** And her ultimate magic is the YinYangBomb of the two: ''[[EverythingsBetterWithRainbows Ciel Arc]]''.
* SupernaturalMartialArts
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly Girl to Amitie's Tomboy.
* UnSorcerer: She ''technically'' does have magic power, but it's extremely low.
* ZettaiRyouiki: In Fever, it was Rank B. In Fever 2, it became a Rank C or D and stayed that way. In 20th, it returned to Rank B.

!! Rider
-->'''Voiced by:'''
--> Noriko Namiki
--> Giovani Pico(English)

-->''Umm... also, if I win... Will you let me call you brother?''

An imp, demon, or ogre that attends school at Primp Town. Very shy, she treats Satan like a big brother.
* BlushSticker: On her a lot.
* CueTheRain: Her defeat animation in ''15th''.
* DemiHuman
** HornedHumanoid: Very small ones that peak out of her odangos.
** PointyEars
** ExpressiveEars
* DemotedToExtra: In Puyo Tetris. She makes two minor appearances in the story mode: once in space, where she meets Draco, and once in Amitie's memories.
** She makes a third appearance in the second DLC chapter (chapter 9), where she's the first to try to dissuade Schezo to not chase after Sig.
* DrunkOnMilk: She must've drank the same stuff Klug did in his story in ''20th''.
* {{Expy}}: Has elements of Draco (horns, green hair, weak AI) and ''Yon'''s Chico. (Small size, ears.) It's probably not a coincidence that Draco borrowed Rider's dropset after stepping off of [[PutOnABus The Bus]].
** Given a nod in ''20th'''s Pair Puyo mode, where Rider calls Draco "sister" if they're paired together.
* FreakinessShame: She's been ashamed of her horns, but eventually comes to like them after meeting Satan with his "very fine pair of horns" in ''15th''.
** AesopAmnesia: But she still feels shy about her horns in ''20th''.
* FriendlessBackground: She didn't have friends until Amitie and Tarutaru befriended her.
** FriendToAllLivingThings: Official art, as well as her 20th Anniversary final combo, often shows her with little orange birds. In-game, these things share the picture of Fever Bird chicks.
* [[PalsWithJesus Friends with Satan]]: And even calls him "big brother", much to his anger.
* HandHidingSleeves: JUST LOOK AT THOSE SLEEVES! She's also depicted using them to whip up her wind-based spells. It's also possible her sleeves are hiding claws and/or inhuman arms.
* InnocentlyInsensitive: She suddenly calls Schezo a pervert!
--> "I'm sorry... Did I offend?"
** She expresses her jealously that Oshare doesn't have to worry about his hairstyle by pointing out his baldness.
* InterspeciesAdoption: She is raised by humans.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[ Rider's Secret Dream.]]"
** [[ "Troubled Rider's Request"]] in 20th.
* ItsPronouncedTroPAY: You don't pronounce her name like "horse rider." It's supposed to be closer to "reed-AIR."
* LittleMissBadass: [[ArtificialStupidity Only when played by a human.]]
* OdangoHair: To hide her horns.
* ShrinkingViolet
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: ''Puyo Pop Fever'' couldn't decide between Rider (from the manual), [[ Ridel]] (Another romantization), or [[ Rita]] (What Amitie says in English). It's worth noting that the katakana spelling of her name (リデル) is nowhere near close to the usual spelling of Rider (ライダー) and instead resembles some variation of Riddel; nonetheless, Rider is the official romanization.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: ''[[GratuitousItalian Vento, Uragano, Tifone, Tuono]]'' and ''[[GratuitousItalian Arcobaleno]]''. In Translation, they are; ''[[BlowYouAway Wind, Hurricane, Typhoon]]'', ''[[ShockAndAwe Thunder]]'', and ''[[EverythingsBetterWithRainbows Rainbow]]''.
* WeatherManipulation - BlowYouAway / ShockAndAwe / ThePowerOfTheSun: Can manipulate wind, lightning, and sunshine; she uses wind a lot, but some of her spells use lightning-like animations.
** ColorCodedElements: Interestingly enough, her clothing is [[color:#11ee11:Wind-Green]] and [[color:#eeee00:Light-Yellow]] with dashes of orange.
* WindIsGreen

!! Sig
!!! Voice Actor: Creator/YurikoFuchizaki
--> '''Stage Actor:''' Ayana

-->''Then... [[ComicallyMissingThePoint if I caught a bookworm... my collection can become cooler.]]''

Sig is everything but emotional. He's very quiet and isn't moved by anything at all, save for bugs. He doesn't mind that he's part demon, either. Obsessed with bugs, but this wasn't brought up in his first appearance at all.
* AccidentalMisnaming: Tends to misname Raffine "Wuffine", or when corrected, "Waffine".
* AttentionDeficitOohShiny: Whenever he spots a bug.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: Yes, he has demonic powers, but he has no evil intentions at all.
* BeetleManiac: In official art, he usually has a beetle on his head. For 20th Anniversary, his shirt has a beetle on it.
* BerserkButton: Leave his ladybug alone. Please. Witch found out the hard way.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: His obsession with bugs does not appear in ''Fever 2''.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Though not as out there as Amitie, he is a little slow sometimes and gets distracted quite easily.
* CreepyMonotone: As part of his stoic demeanor.
%%* DualityMotif
* DarkIsNotEvil: Black Sig is no more malicious than normal Sig.
* EyeColourChange: [[spoiler:His blue eye turned red when he was close to Strange Klug.]]
* FriendToBugs: Though he also [[BugCatching collects them.]]
* HalfHumanHybrid: Half-demon in Sig's case, which is the cause of his red eye and hand.
* HaveYouTriedNotBeingAMonster: He has, and he enjoys it.
* HairAntennae: Which ''twitch''. They seem to be hypnotic or unsettling, depending on the person.
* HeartTrauma: Implied. [[spoiler:In the same book you can find the history of Strange Klug, it's stated that, whatever remained of Sig's ancestor, was very absent-minded and stoic. It seems that missing half your soul runs in the family or something.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "In The Middle of a Stroll"]].
** [[ "Rapid Carefree Advice"]] in 20th.
* MarkOfTheSupernatural: His one red eye.
* MeaningfulName: Played with. His name is Germanic for "Victory Protection", which doesn't fit him at all, and is Swedish for "himself", which does fit him [[spoiler: if you [[FridgeLogic think too much about the back story for Strange Klug.]]]]
** Alternately, his name is, in Japanese, pronounced "Shi-guu"; Shig is a word often used to start Japanese names and means "luxuriant"... which also doesn't fit Sig.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: His ancestor is the good side of the demon that is trapped in Klug's book.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: Blue Boy to Raffine's Pink Girl.
* PokemonSpeak: His DLC voice in ''Puyo Tetris'' makes all of his voice clips entirely this.
* {{Protectorate}}: At the end of Raffine's Hard course in ''Fever 2'', Sig appears and tells Raffine not to advance [[spoiler: due to Strange Klug.]] Raffine, being [[AlphaBitch Raffine]], proceeds to call him greedy and challenges him to a fight.
** Fans like to hope he becomes something like this to his LoveInterest, Amitie.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: While Sig has a red left eye, due to his demon heritage, [[InvertedTrope he's a good guy]], and he cares about hardly anything else than collecting bugs. That being said, the trope ''is'' played straight the few times his blue right eye becomes red (i.e. when he encounters Strange Klug, and in ''Sig's secret''), albeit because of the uncertainty of what's happening, and not because of Sig's behaviour.
* RedRightHand: {{Subverted}}. His left arm is completely red and has claws. It's a proof of his demonic heritage, but Sig himself is unambiguously good.
* TheRightHandOfDoom: In this case, the left hand of doom.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere:
** Tried to in his [=WakuWaku=] course against Lemres ''[[RuleOfThree three times]]''. Lemres grabbed him before he could run the first two times, but he succeeds the third.
** In Puyo Quest as "Crown Sig", one of his quotes is "Can I go home now?"
* SeriousBusiness: Not even catching bugs gets him to express anything!
* SignificantBirthDate: June 16 ([[NumberOfTheBeast 6/16]]), the same birthday as Strange Klug.
%%* SixthRanger
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: In-Universe; Ringo spelled his name as "Shigu" when she meets him in 7.[[note]]To clarify, Sig's name is spelt in Katakana but she spelt it in Hiragana. Hiragana can be translated straight at face value, while Katakana usually requires some interpretation.[[/note]]
%%* SupernaturalMartialArts
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: ''Cyan'', ''Paraiba'', and ''Robin's Egg'' are blue items; a color, a blue stone, and a blue-colored egg. ''Lapis Lazuil'' is another blue stone, replacing ''Paraiba'' in 20th. ''Celestial'' is a term used to describe the sky, and ''Hydrangea''s are often a blue color as well.
* TheStoic: Exaggerated; this guy's face hardly moves, and has a perpetually monotone voice. Unless you use his alternate, "Happy" voice in ''20th''.
* UnusuallyUninterestingSight: Sig doesn't care at all about his [[RedRightHand red left arm]], and as a result, no one (Except for Akuma in ''Fever 2'' and Lemres in ''Sig's Secret'') really knows why he has it.

!! Tarutaru
!!! Voice Actor: Takuo Kawamura
-->''A long autumn night underneath a beautiful moon... I'm so fond of it!''

A bigger student at Primp Magic School, Tarutaru is a lover of nature and small creatures. He was a great friend of Rider, Fever Birds, and Baldanders, until he got removed from the series.
* BalloonBelly: Parodied; he flies off like an untied balloon.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Only informed.
* BlackBeadEyes
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Aside from ''Quest'', he hasn't appeared since ''Fever 2''; Ms. Accord lampshades this in ''15th'' by stating that he's absent from school. Following his disappearance, his character traits were [[DecompositeCharacter decomposed]] and placed onto other characters: Sig becomes the easygoing boy, while Rider receives his love of nature.
* FullContactMagic
* GentleGiant
* {{Gonk}}: Has a very distinct appearance, compared to the rest of the cast.
* GroundPunch
* UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns: ''Oi'' to refer to himself.
* NatureLover
* TheNoseKnows / SmellsSexy: Thank goodness his nose is not keen enough to track Raffine.
* SelfProclaimedLoveInterest: Of Raffine.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: MakingASplash, BlowYouAway, and DishingOutDirt.
* StoutStrength
* VerbalTic: "-(Na) n da na", the tic associated with stupid men.

!! Yu and Rei
-->'''Voiced by:'''
--> Tamaki Nakanishi (Both of them)
--> Giovani Pico (Yu, English)

-->''Because I'm a ghost. We get the rights to terrorize people. Now, get ready for your final ride!''
-->''Get ready.''

Ghost twins that haunt the mansion in the middle of town. Yu's very upbeat and tends to overuse puns. Her younger brother, Rei, is very quiet and seldom speaks.
* AllThereInTheManual: Rei's presence was only informed in ''Fever'', and Yu never once mentioned trying to look for him.
* BlindingBangs: Rei.
* CatchPhrase: "You rang?"
* CoordinatedClothes
* DemotedToExtra: In Puyo Tetris. Makes only one appearance in the main story, and in a dream, of all places. They only appear because Ringo accidentally thought of them.
** They show up again in the first DLC chapter (chapter 8), and manage to scare Amitie with their proposed horror show.
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: As mentioned above, Yu is a solo character in ''Puyo Pop Fever''.
* EmptyEyes
* FogFeet
* GenkiGirl: Yu.
* GhostAmnesia
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "The Ghost Twins Sure Are Popular!"]]
** And [[ "You and I Are Fun Ghosts!"]] in 20th.
* LittleMissBadass: Yu.
* LuckBasedMission: Like Harpy, they stack the left and rightmost columns with Puyo.
* MidairBobbing
* PaperTalisman: Yu's weakness. She gets one placed on her forehead when she gets damaged.
* [[spoiler:ParentalFavoritism: Can be read; it's stated that Yu had an awful life when she was alive, but her younger brother had a wonderful life.]]
* PunnyName: Their names together mean ''Yurei'', or "Ghost".
* PungeonMaster -> HurricaneOfPuns
* PopQuiz: Appears in ''Fever 2'''s story modes to give these out.
** She asks Amitie "Why are ghosts bad at telling lies?"[[labelnote:Answer]]Because you can see right through them![[/labelnote]]
** And she asks Sig two: "What yard are people buried in?"[[labelnote:Answer]]A graveyard[[/labelnote]], and "What kind of comb can you find there?"[[labelnote:Answer]]A catacomb[[/labelnote]].
* TheQuietOne: Rei.
* SignificantBirthDate: June 9 ([[SiblingYinYang 6/9]]), which also makes them Gemini.
* TalkingWithSigns: Rei, in ''Fever 2'', held up signs that either had an "O"(correct), an "X"(incorrect), or a picture of a puyo(when a match began).
* TwinTropes: Dear lord...
** HalfIdenticalTwins
** IdenticalTwinIDTag: Yu has green hair that lifts upwards like an Up-arrow. Rei has blue hair that covers his eyes, patterned like a Down-arrow.
** PolarOppositeTwins: Yu's very cheerful and loud, Rei's very quiet and depressed. [[spoiler: It's implied they were vice versa when they were living.]]
** ThemeTwinNaming: Their PunnyName.
** TricksterTwins: Not only are they ghosts, but they're jump you into a puyo match whether you answered their questions correctly or not.
** TwinSwitch: Their wishes in 15th were both this. Sadly they canceled each other out.

[[folder: Characters Introduced in ''Puyo Puyo 7'']]

!! Andou Ringo
!!! Voice Actor: Creator/AsamiImai
--> '''Stage Actor:''' Yui Kawamura

-->''Oh, come on! No Puyo, just this once!''

The protagonist of ''7'' and more down-to-earth than Arle and Amitie. She constantly questions everything about the other two universes, but doesn't seem to mind her own weirdness.
* ArtShift: Notable for being the only character with an expression that has a rougher outline than normal. This being her OhCrap reaction.
* AudienceSurrogate: Mostly in ''7'', given her role as a normal girl that comes across all the weirdness of the Puyo universe.
* BadassUnintentional: If it hadn't been for Arle, after teaching her how to play, suddenly being kidnapped [[spoiler:and possessed]], then Ringo would've never gone out on a limb and became good at the game.
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: The redhead to the "A" Trio.
* ButThouMust: Even if she doesn't want to play Puyo, she's forced to.
* ChildhoodFriends: With Maguro.
%%* DeadpanSnarker: ''Very''.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: She uses Yu and Rei's dropset and stats in ''7'', but receives her own dropset in ''20th''.
* ExpressiveHair: It freaks out when she does.
* FamilyBusiness: Andou Groceries, the store her parents own.
* FireIceLightning: Subverted. She only uses lightning, compared to the other protagonists.
* GenderBlenderName: A female name in Japanese, but male in English.
* HairDecorations: Has one as a green Puyo.
* HowUnscientific: Said nearly verbatim in ''7'''s story mode.
* IdiotHair: The ExpressiveHair in question. Well, one of them.
* InstantExpert: She gets to playing (and winning!) Puyo within seconds of learning it in ''7''.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "[[ Puyo Puyo]] [[ no Uta]]."
** DoItYourselfThemeTune: Asami Imai sings the vocal version.
* MagicalGesture: She uses the Fleming's left/right-hand-rule in her spells.
* MegaTwintails: The other half of her expressive hair.
* ModestyShorts: While not visible at all in art, she does sport a pair on a figurine.
* [[spoiler:NiceJobBreakingItHero: Good job telling Ekoro to make people happy with Puyo when he has amnesia! Surely nothing could go wrong when you have the power to flood the universe in Puyo!]]
* OhCrap: Her face is a particularly spectacular one across her appearances, often PlayedForLaughs. When it's ''not'' though, it happens when...
** 7: [[spoiler:Ekoro plans to cause a '''''universal puyo-pocalypse'''''.]]
** 20th: [[spoiler:Ekoro posses Satan, causing space-time to go out of control.]]
** Puyo Tetris: [[spoiler:The Tetobou has completely lost control, inevitably causing a crash landing towards her school.]]
* [[OnlySaneMan Only Sane Girl]]: When you question the very nature of the game itself, she's even above Arle for sanity.
* PunnyName / StealthPun: She's always carrying an apple with her.
* SeriousBusiness: Ringo doesn't understand how Puyo became this in 7 to a point of a RunningGag.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: Sine, Cosine, Tangent, Integral, and Permutation are all mathematical concepts.
* SuperSenses: She says she can sight the Andromeda Galaxy in the daytime. That means she has ''20/4'' vision.
* ThrowTheBookAtThem: Her attack, Integral, makes her slam a book down.
* UnusualEuphemism: Has some with... math terminology? She changes "are you out of your mind" to "are you out of your vector", for instance.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler: Thanks to her following the hidden agenda Ekoro had, she almost doomed the world.]]
* VisualPun: She's always carrying an apple. Ringo means "apple" in japanese.
* WhatBeautifulEyes: As Rulue mentions, [[DoubleMeaning she sure has good eyes]].
* WickedWitch: As Poison Ringo, who carries a basket of poison apples. Though, in ''Puyo Quest'', she is described to be someone with "Ringo's spitting image".
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: If Yu and Rei's story in 20th is any indication, she's ''terrified'' of ghosts. Funnily and ironically enough, she's into the paranormal.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Roughly Grade B in ''20th''.

!! Risukuma
!!! Voice Actor: Creator/KenichiOno
-->''You can touch as much as you want... little girl.''

An older student that ran the science club. After an accident in the lab, he apparently became a full-on bear wearing clothing obsessed with love. ...No, this isn't the weirdest thing about him.
* BattleButler: As an adult.
* CreepyGood
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: He uses Onion Pixy's dropset and stats in ''7'', but receives his own dropset in ''20th''.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: Then again, his foot paws are too big to fit in any shoes.
* EducationThroughPyrotechnics: Almost all of his spell animations have an explosion in them, indicating that this happens a lot.
* ForScience: Perhaps.
* GratuitousForeignLanguage: English, Korean, French, and Italian initially, then adds in Chinese and the Hawaiian expression of "I love you." in ''Puyo Tetris''. Yes, he says "I love you." '''''all''''' of those languages.
* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "This Experiment, Life"]].
* LoveFreak: It's stated that, pre-7's story, a potion he was working on exploded and made him obsessed with it.
* MachineMonotone: His alternate voice in ''20th''.
* [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Nice Job Blowing It Up, Hero]]: How everyone in 7, including Ekoro, ended up in Amitie's world.
* PettingZooPeople: The science experiment gone wrong before ''7'' most likely turned him into one.
* PunnyName / StealthPun: He didn't take risk when he tested that potion, possibly turning him into a bear. A squirrel-bear, rather.
* SempaiKohai: To Ringo and Maguro. In the first place, his official name is "Risukuma Senpai".
* UnstoppableRage: He's seem rampaging in 7 often and in some occasions in 20th. [[spoiler:In 7, it might be due to Ekoro trying to control him.]]
** The 20th Anniversary website reveals that an invention of his, the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin "Unscientific Matter Detector"]], beeped at him. His response was to ''blow up a flask'' and trash the machine.

!! Sasaki Maguro
!!! Voice Actor: Yuuki Ishikari
-->''Well, the truth is... something's controlling me! I'm so ashamed~. How am I supposed to whisk Takoyaki batter if my body would rather do something else?''

The "fashionable" elder son of the local fishmongers. He's sarcastic and weird, but remains close friends with Ringo.
* BadassInANiceSuit: As an adult.
* {{Bishounen}}: See "Blinding Bangs" below.
* BlindingBangs: According to Ringo, she says he has an incredibly handsome face. [[TheUnreveal Unfortunately we never see it]].
** SoBeautifulItsACurse: Also according to Ringo, he can make anyone fall in love with him with a single glance. ''Even boys.'' (100% Klug-tested.) '''EVEN FISH.''' (120% Suketoudara-tested.)
* ChildhoodFriends: With Ringo.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: He uses Dongurigaeru's dropset and stats in ''7'', but receives his own dropset in ''20''.
* FamilyBusiness: He's the son of the town fishmongers.
* FashionableAsymmetry: His Adult form's clothing is half gray, half black, split right down the middle. Certain accents on the outfit even reverse the two colors.
* IdiotHair: As a child.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Uses a puyo-themed [[ kendama]] instead of magic or science.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Charming Glance"]].
* [[PerpetualSmiler Perpetual Grin]]
* PunnyName / StealthPun: Gets slapped with tuna when he gets damaged.
* PurpleIsTheNewBlack: His hair color.
* SayItWithHearts: Stars, rather. ★

%%Because we all know something's going to warrant this eventually.%%

!! Dark Arle
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/MieSonozaki
--> ''Heheheheh.''

The main villain in Puyo Puyo 7, she is actually the real Arle being possessed by Ekoro. Her personality is nothing like the host's or the guest's, as she shows little emotion.
* [[spoiler:TheChessmaster]]
* DemonicPossession
* [[spoiler:EmpathyPet: Parodied; Carbuncle was just enjoying acting dark with her.]]
* [[spoiler:FightingFromTheInside: She temporarily breaks free of the possession and asks Ringo to stop her.]]
* [[spoiler:GhostMemory: She even calls Carbuncle "Kaa-kun" when she's really Ekoro in Arle's body.]]
* GigglingVillain
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: At 6* she has malicious-looking eye gleams.
* GottaGetYourHeadTogether: Before turning into Dark Arle.
* [[spoiler:ManIFeelLikeAWoman: Discussed by Satan.]]
* MindControlEyes: Of the EmptyEyes variety, but it got lost when she got redrawn for ''Puyo Quest''.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Insanity of Dark Arle"]], which has pieces that resemble Doppelganger Arle's battle theme.
* ObviouslyEvil: To the point ''7'''s story mode does not even try to hide the fact she's evil, given her MindControlEyes, her robes, her lower voice pitch and her personality.
* [[PaintItBlack Paint It Dark Blue]]
* PaletteSwap: The robes switch between green (Chibi) and red (Deka) in Daihenshin, with dark blue being her default color.
* SpoiledByTheManual and The Official Website
* SuddenSequelHeelSyndrome
* TheStoic
* [[spoiler:VoicesAreMental: As she drops the act.]]

!! Doppelganger Arle
!!!Voice Actor: Reiko Kurusu (Madou Monogatari 1-2-3), Minako Ozawa (Madou Monogatari: The Final Test), Creator/EmiMotoi (Puyo Puyo~n), Creator/MieSonozaki (Puyo Quest)
--> ''So, you think you can win? If I am will do what I say!''

Doppelganger Arle is...well...a {{Doppelganger}}. She's a near exact clone of Arle that appeared in Madou Monogatari 1-2-3. Post-Madou Monogatari Mega Drive, she developed her own repertoire of spells, and wears red armor. [[spoiler: She's the BigBad of ~n.]]

* [[spoiler:BarrierWarrior: Uses a more powerful version of Arle's Barrier super attack in console ''Yon'' and ''Box''.]]
* CanonForeigner: Orignally from the Madou games as a boss. [[spoiler: Joined in ~n as the final boss, [[ContinuityNod and seems to be remembered by Sega via Strange Klug and Arle's alternate voiceclips in 20th.]]]]
* [[spoiler:DemonicPossession: Did this to Satan in YON.]]
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: Originally looked identical to Arle and used identical spells. Later games change the color of her clothes and give her different spells, such as Chaos, Abyss, and Ragnarok, though her personality become more like "Warle" from the Mega Drive remake of Madou Monogatari I. In ''Puyo Quest'', instead of copying Arle's current design, she's closer to her ''Yon'' appearance.
* DramaticUnmask: How she reveals herself in YON and Puyo Quest. The clown costume, however, is rendered down into shreds.
* {{Doppelganger}}: [[CaptainObvious Of course.]]
* [[spoiler:DrivenByEnvy: The ending of the Color ~n reveals she was jealous of Arle's attention.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To Arle.
* GigglingVillain: ''Very'' prominent in her in-game voice overs. She even laughs when she's defeated!
* GoodColorsEvilColors: Turns Arle's Heroic Blue to a Blood Red.
* KnightOfCerebus: Arguably an attempt at this in ''Yon''. While most end bosses in the series tend to fit the comedic tone of each game, Doppelganger Arle's [[DarkerAndEdgier appearance and theme]] towards the end of the fourth game is much more serious and somber compared to the rest of game. Her motivations [[spoiler:(wanting to kill Arle out of [[DrivenByEnvy pure jealousy]])]] and actions [[spoiler:([[PeoplePuppets using]] [[ManBehindTheMan Satan's power]] to capture Carbuncle and lure Arle into a trap)]] were also taken more seriously as a result, being a stark contrast from what's a rather light-hearted series for much of its existence.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: ''Puyo Puyo!! Quest'' spoils the reveal that [[spoiler:Pierrot]] and Doppelganger Arle are the same person.
* [[spoiler:ManBehindTheMan: The one behind Satan in YON.]]
* MookPromotion: Doppelgangers were random encounters in ''Madou Monogatari 1-2-3''. [[spoiler:Doppelganger Arle would go on to serve as the last opponent of ''Arle no Roux'', a midboss in the Mega Drive remake of ''Madou Monogatari I'', a late-game boss in ''Madou Monogatari: The Final Test'', and finally the last boss of ''Yon''.]]
* PaletteSwap: Depending on the game. Subverted in ''Box''; unlike other Evil Counterparts, Doppelganger Arle's portrait is entirely different from her base character's. (Having said that, she has both traditional and ''Yon'' portraits, which play the trope straight.)
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* [[spoiler:[[SealedEvilInACan Sealed Evil in a Box]]]]
* VillainousBreakdown: Downplayed; As opposed to freaking out, she bitterly runs off, knowing she failed to replace Arle.
* [[spoiler:VillainousHarlequin: As Pierrot.]]

!! Ekoro
!!!Voice Actor: AkiraIshida
-->''All worlds! All universes! All of everything! And you silly people too! All shall be buried in Puyo!!!''

A blob-like space-time traveler with an extremely playful disposition. [[spoiler:He is the main cause of Puyo 7's storyline, revealing himself after surrendering possession of Arle at the climax. What is his plan exactly? '''A Puyo-induced universal apocalypse'''.]] In 20th, he gains an alternate humanoid version named "Unusual Ekoro".
* AesopCollateralDamage: Playing tricks isn't good, but playing matches is! [[spoiler: Then you possess Satan to make your point...]]
* AffablyEvil: He's very goofy and playful at heart.
* AkiraIshida: Someone's having ''way'' too much fun over in the recording booth.
* [[spoiler:ApocalypseHow: Attempts a '''Universal''' in 7.]]
* AutobotsRockOut: [[ Both]], [[ themes]] in 7.
** {{Leitmotif}}: [[ "Fly over the dimension"]] is his battle theme in 20th.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: [[spoiler:But don't forget the fact he's capable of ''blowing the world up with Puyo.'']]
* BigBad: In 7.
* [[spoiler: BigDamnHeroes: At the end of Puyo Tetris with Satan, to X.]]
* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: At the end of 20th Anniversary, Ekoro remembers everything; that he's a spacetime traveller with no time or place to call home. He decides to go travelling again, saying that he had fun and that they'll see each other again, although they probably won't remember him.]]
* TheChessmaster: Especially when you take into account that he [[spoiler: tricked Ringo into practically dooming the world by getting her to play seven Puyo matches that would open a rift in space-time.]]
* CrazyJealousGuy: Has shades of this when he saw Maguro and Ringo having (what he thought was) an inappropriate conversation.
** Comes up again in Puyo Tetris when Ringo and T interrogate him. He completely ignores T's questions and only answers Ringo, and even sticks his tongue out when T can't take a hint.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: As Unusual Ekoro, if you subtract the pink pupils.
* [[spoiler:DemonicPossession: He's possessed both Arle and Satan on separate occasions and wanted to do the same to Ringo.]]
* DissonantSerenity: Always smiling, always playful.
** TryingNotToCry: His voice cracks at the end of 20th Anniversary though as [[spoiler: he says his goodbyes.]]
* [[spoiler:[[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt The End of The Universe As We Know It]]: Tried to cause this in 7.]]
* FinalBoss: Of Puyo 7.
** [[spoiler:[[DualBoss Dual Final Boss]]: With Satan at the end of the last story in 20th.]]
* ForTheLulz / ForTheEvulz: Depending on the game. [[spoiler:Evulz in 7 and end game 20th, Lulz during the stories in 20th.]]
* GigglingVillain: This is Ishida we're talking about.
* HumanityEnsues: As Unusual Ekoro. [[spoiler:The AudioAdaptation implies it that it is his attempt to solve his InterSpeciesRomance with Ringo.]]
* LargeHam: As Unusual Ekoro.
* [[spoiler: ManBehindTheMan: Behind Arle.]]
* [[spoiler:MikeNelsonDestroyerOfWorlds: Well, he doesn't really destroy anything big, but he did cause a rift in space when he possessed Satan in 20th.]]
* MindScrew: ''Very'' close to WhatDoYouMeanItWasntMadeOnDrugs. [[spoiler: Among stealing animations from Ringo, Feli, and Klug, (Arle and Amitie's in 20th Anniversary)]] Unusual Ekoro is full of this. For instance, one of Unusual Ekoro's animations has him blasting into the sky like a rocket.
* TheNicknamer: Justified in that he knows no one's names except for Ringo's. Some examples include "Tail Fly Girl" (Draco) "Miss Straight Bangs" (Feli) and "Pointy Hat Girl" (Witch).
* NoBiologicalSex: ''Puyo Quest'' does not register Ekoro to neither Girls or Boys combination sets, implying this trope is in effect.
* NotMeThisTime: Like with Satan, he's not the cause of the Puyo and Tetris worlds clashing. The fact that he "runs away" as soon as he's spotted by Ringo doesn't help matters, but in the end, he ends up passing it off as hide-and-seek anyway. Once he's finally caught and defeated however, he finally reveals the true culprit to be the guardian of space-time, and gives a hint that "a lot of Puyo AND Tetris power is needed to reach the end of space-time and meet him".
* [[spoiler:OmnicidalManiac: In 7. Not so much in 20th, where he's more of a WellIntentionedExtremist.]]
* PerpetualSmiler: And is always drooling, too.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: A particularly egregious example. There's been much dispute whether it's "Ekoro" (a straight romanization) or "Ecolo." (from the fan translations). Game files imply it's the latter due to his files being labeled with "ECO", but the 25th Anniversary Book spells it as '''"Ecoro"'''.
* TechnicolorEyes: Unusual Ekoro's eyes are sky blue with ''pink bubbles'' for pupils.
** ExoticEyeDesigns: They even change shape to hearts or stars!
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: "Liar", "Swindle", "Fake Speech", "Lovely Trick", "Imitation"...
* TheVillainMakesThePlot: Causes just about ''everything'' in 7.
* TookALevelInKindness: Is noticeably nicer in Puyo Tetris [[spoiler:to X. May be justified given both are in similar positions: loners in time-space.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: At least, he ''should'' be, but chances are you know everything.
* [[spoiler:WellIntentionedExtremist: In 20th Anniversary, where his meddling goes too far and eventually causes a rift in space, possessing Satan in his attempts to have fun with everyone and make them happy.]]

!! Strange Klug
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/MieSonozaki
-->''Heh, dare you demand I return your classmate's body?''

A demon possessing Klug's book, Strange Klug is ''very'' different than the nerd everyone's used to. Takes the place as Fever 2's villain, appearing at the end of all three [=HaraHara=] courses. He grew popular though, and made comebacks in future titles, but never as important as he was before(if you can call him important).
* AltumVidetur: Some of his spells have latin names. In ''Fever 2'', they are spells that Klug would otherwise use, but in ''20th'' he has some unique spells that also have latin names, such as "Anima"[[note]]"Soul"[[/note]] and "Rubor Vini"[[note]]"Red Wine"[[/note]].
* AutobotsRockOut: [[ Yes, it is]] [[ShoutOut compared to]] VideoGame/{{Touhou}} music.
** {{Leitmotif}}: Before facing him, [[ this plays.]]
* AllIsWellThatEndsWell: Worries, but brushes his first defeat off as a bump in his plan. [[spoiler: Begins to seriously worry after he loses a second item.]]
* BadPowersBadPeople: Is the second evil character that has dark intentions, coming after Doppelganger Arle [[spoiler: and predates Ekoro.]]
* BadassCape: Wears a ridiculously big and red cape, held onto his body with chains. It's tough enough to take damage for him, too.
** CapeSwish: Does this in his 20th by holding it in his hands and turning.
* BigBad of Fever 2.
* BigNo: When sealed again.
* BigRedDevil: If that shadow's to be believed.
* {{Bookworm}}: The original demon was one. Apparently, it's all he did before being sealed, [[BatmanGambit by being convinced to open a book]], which he didn't know would seal whoever opened it.
* ChainedByFashion: Uses golden chains as a necklace, which holds his clock and his cape.
* CheshireCatGrin: Rare edition; though Klug's grins are full of teeth, Strange Klug doesn't seem to have teeth ''period''.
* ConceptsAreCheap: Double Subverted; Strange Klug states several times that he took the three items and took over Klug's body to [[spoiler: bring his body back]], but he never states "why".
* ContrivedCoincidence: His existence and his demise. Three items are required to unseal the demon residing in Klug's book... which happened to be delivered by Lemres to Primp at the same time. Then, Amitie, Sig and Raffine are asked by different characters to retrieve an item - the very same items that, when taken away from the demon, would seal it again.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Subverted. As a spirit sealed in Klug's book, the demon takes on a very cartoony look, with small gold eyes and a flat-toothed grin. During Fever and, until you find how he really acts in Fever 2, this gives the impression that it's some sort of prankster spirit sealed in a book.
* DemonicPossession
* {{Doppelganger}}: {{Subverted}} - he's Klug under DemonicPossession, unlike other characters from the series such as Doppelganger Arle.
* EarlyBirdCameo: You can clearly see his little spirit form appearing in some of Klug's sprites in ''Fever'' before he shows up in the next game.
* EvilCounterpart: To Sig, as both are halves of the same demon, with opposite morality.
* EvilGloating: And it's ''all he ever does.''
* EvilCostumeSwitch: Turns Klug's suit from purple to red, unties his bowtie, dons a cape, untucks his shirt, and messes up his hair.
* [[spoiler:ExpansionPackPast: If you read the Library in ''Fever 2'', you'll find a story titled "Record of the Sealing". According to the book, a man bought a book that was used ''only'' for sealing souls, and would seal any one soul when opened. Upon showing it to his friends, they decided to travel up to the castle nearby to seal the demon that lived there, knowing he [[{{Bookworm}} liked books and would read anything without question.]] When the demon fell for the trick of opening the book, only the "evil soul" was sucked in; what remained of the "good soul" became Sig's ancestor.]]
* ExpressiveAccessory: Both the LivingShadow and Klug's spirit have expressions alongside him, even [[spoiler: matching his surprise when Sig and Raffine walk off with his items.]]
* FashionableAsymmetry: Added a charm and changed the time on Klug's stopwatch.
* FourEyesZeroSoul
* GoodColorsEvilColors: Not quite bloody red, not quite cherry, but knowing [[ previous history in Puyo...]]
* LaserGuidedKarma: Inverted. [[spoiler: The man who wrote ''Record of the Sealing'' stated that he didn't know what evil deeds the demon had ever done. If this is the case, he just lived alone in his castle, doing nothing noticeable until he was sealed away.]]
* LivingShadow: Has a giant red one that looks nearly identical to his form in the book.
* [[spoiler:LonersAreFreaks: ''Record of the Sealing'' stated that he lived alone in his castle. Judging from how he acts, he really fits a description.]]
* HumanityEnsues: Reversed. He went from being "human" to a soul trapped in a book.
* MagicAIsMagicA: Defied. Even if we're never given a clear image of what the magic in this world is, all things that fly/float often have wings or "flying" in the name, like "magical flying cane" or characters like [[CuteMonsterGirl Draco, Harpy,]] and [[DependingOnTheWriter Satan]]. However, Strange Klug's [[SoulJar book]] is floating without any source of magic around it.
* MilkingTheGiantCow: His laughing sprite, as well as a few of his spells.
* MotorMouth: In both Fever 2 and 20th Anniversary, he manages to fit in at least seven words within one or two seconds.
* MythologyGag: Towards the ''Madou Monogatari'' series and its tendency to have [[GoodColorsEvilColors red, evil lookalikes]] of other characters.
* NeatFreak: His special skill listed on ''Fever 2'''s website is "cleaning".
* NerdGlasses: Large oval frames, just like Klug's. [[spoiler: They're really an entirely different pair, though, even if they look exactly the same.]]
** ScaryShinyGlasses: One eye is almost always obscured by a flashed frame, and can be viewed as more unsettling than both frames.
* NoExceptYes: He's not exactly Klug, even if his posture when he's laughing or pointing is ''exactly the same.''
* NoNameGiven / OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: He's never properly named, [[spoiler: called "Demon" and "evil spirit" in ''Record of the Sealing'']] , and is known only by Strange Klug. Sega apparently gave up trying to develop any story that spans multiple games.
* OurDemonsAreDifferent: A [[{{Bookworm}} bookworm]] that never left his castle. When trapped in Klug's book, his evil side looks like a LivingShadow.
* PopularityPower: He quickly became an EnsembleDarkhorse after appearing in Fever 2, with most fans liking him more than Klug.
* PowerMakesYourVoiceDeep
* PowerFloats: His final spell, ''Hydrangea'', lifts him off the ground.
* PowersViaPossession
* RedEyesTakeWarning
* RedOniBlueOni: For being covered with the color red, he's actually a blue oni; he's actually a lot calmer than Klug himself is.
* ReluctantMonster
* RuleOfPerception: The only in-game difference between Klug and Strange Klug is the glasses they wear.
* [[SealedEvilInACan Sealed Evil in a Book]]
* ShapedLikeItself: Played with. It takes Strange Klug to reveal his plans to both Raffine and Amitie for the two to realize that the man that looks like Klug that's wearing different colors and altered his outfit isn't exactly Klug... and yet they still call him Klug.
* SignificantBirthDate: June 16 ([[NumberOfTheBeast 6/16]]), the same birthday as Sig.
* [[ThemeNaming Spell Theme]]: Played with. He shares ''Nebula'' and ''Ignis'' with Klug, but then uses ''[[ Nyx]]''. A new spell from 20th, ''Anima'', can bring you to [[ several]] [[ different]] [[ things]]. "Rubor Vini" is "Wine Red"; you can either take this as a color for red or a sin. His final spell, ''[[PowerFloats Hydrangea]]'', he shares with Sig, but has a '''very''' different animation for it, with all of his power going into the demonic LivingShadow.
** MythologyGag: As for Nyx, Ignis just had to be followed by another word ending with an "s" sound -- just like most of Doppelganger Arle's spells (Abyss, Chaos, [[JapaneseRanguage Labyrins]], Eclipse, Grand Cross).
* Is the SuperpoweredEvilSide
* TheVillainMakesThePlot: Played With. He did create the plot for all the Hard Courses, and his defeat is the true resolution to the plot. [[spoiler: However, freeing Klug is only done on accident, and really all Raffine and Sig wanted were the items he was using to power himself up.]]
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: When he loses, he either looks to the sky and sighs[[note]]In Fever 2, though you could see as him about to fall down.[[/note]] or just sits down on the floor[[note]]In 20th Anniversary.[[/note]]. In the ending cutscenes for all the [=HaraHara=] courses, he doesn't yell or try and run away, but just seems to accept being sealed once more.
* [[spoiler:ThrowingDownTheGauntlet: Whines "Come back!" when Sig and the Ocean Prince just walk away after beating him.]]
* UnexplainedAccent: In ''20th'''s Mini Fever, Mega Fever and Pair Battle modes, he pronounces certain numbers differently than Klug, such as "ichi", "roku", and "hachi"[[note]]"one", "six" and "eight"[[/note]], pronouncing them as "ee-ch", "rouk", and "hah-ch" instead of "ee-chi", "rouk-u", and "hah-chi".
* VillainBall: Says his plan out loud. '''Three times.'''
* WickedCultured: He looks suave for a Puyo villain, [[spoiler: owned a castle when he had a body and was a bookworm by nature.]]

[[folder:Characters Introduced in ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'']]
(Work in progress. In the meantime, check out the [[ Puyo Nexus page on Puyo Puyo Tetris]] for details.)
!! T
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/KaoruMizuhara

The captain of the Tetobou and successor to the throne of the Tetris Kingdom. He's very mindful of his manners, but that also makes him rather stoic. T first meets Ringo onboard when tetriminoes started raining down in Suzuran.

* DeadlyDisc: Wields one in his attacks.
* {{Expy}}: Of Ringo when it comes to understanding the rest of the cast.
* [[spoiler:FinalBoss: Of the main game and of the 10th Chapter (DLC only).]]
* OnlySaneMan: Compared to the rest of the crew members, he's just about the only guy with his head straight.
* PurpleEyes: As the captain and current ruler, he's the strongest of the crew.
* PurpleIsPowerful: As stated above.

!! O
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/MinaTominaga

T's partner and the ship's mascot. He only ever utters "pi" or "bi" when speaking, but his cuteness keeps the crew in high spirits. He shares a parallel with Carbuncle, being yellow, animal-like sidekicks that don't speak with words.

* AnimateInanimateObject: Works as a transmitter of T's reports [[spoiler:towards X]].
* {{Expy}}: The Tetris world equivalent of Carbuncle. Naturally they get along well in ''Tetris''.

!! S
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/YuiHorie

Although she may look cute, this green-colored crew member is quite ill-mannered and a crybaby. Even then, she is quite fond of her Papa.

* FaceOfAnAngelMindOfADemon: For her innocent looks, she can give L and J a run for their money when it comes to be a {{Jerkass}}.
* {{Jerkass}}: Ranging from trying to beat Amitie over the head to her various antagonizing remarks, she makes ''Klug'' look like an angel.
* ParasolOfPain: She uses her parasol for a few of her attacks...
* ParasolOfPrettiness: ...and carries it around as an accessory in cutscenes.
* ParentalAbandonment: By the end of Chapter 6, she shows a bit of distress over who her real Papa is.
* {{Tsundere}}: According to J and L, anyway. She is noticeably less of an ass around Maguro.
--> '''L''': Hard on the outside!\\
'''J''': Soft on the inside!

!! I
!!!Voice Actor: Yuuki Tai

The ship crew's engineer, I is a dog with extremely high intelligence. Despite this, he's quite skittish and is easily undermined into a whimpering mess. He's also often picked on by J and L.

* BirdsOfAFeather: With fellow science human-animal Risukuma.
* PettingZooPeople: A humanoid dog. Specifically a chihuahua.
* TheSmartGuy: As expected from the engineer. He's the one that repaired the broken-down ship.

!! J & L
!!!Voice Actor: Kathreen Miyuki

A mischief-making duo, acting and speaking in sync with each other. You never see these two separate, and are often picking on I just for kicks. Just so you know, J is in blue, and L is in red.

* BrotherSisterTeam
* CharacterTics: They often hold their hand up to form a J and L respectively with their fingers.
* PinkGirlBlueBoy: L wears red/pink, J wears blue.
* SiblingTeam: They're twins no less!
* TricksterTwins: I happens to be an easy target.

!! Z
!!!Voice Actor: Ryunosuke Watanuki

The intimidating, but dutiful robot housekeeper of the ship. He mistakes Arle and Carbuncle as intruders, but was convinced otherwise. For some reason, S calls him "Papa".

* RobotMaid: The designated housekeeper.
* ParentalSubstitute: To S. [[spoiler:X made him that way when he left the throne to guard the Space-time Gate.]]

!! X
!!!Voice Actor: Creator/KazukiYao

The former king of the Tetris Kingdom, and the Keeper of Space-time. He's incredibly laid back, but has grown quite lonely at the Gate of Space-time. Oddly enough, he's not modeled after a Tetrimino.

* AmbiguouslyBrown: Notably, he's the only one that has this as a natural color, and not something like Strange Klug's case.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Yes, he does act a bit silly and laid-back, but being the Keeper of Space-time is no trifling matter. Even Ekoro says X's power surpasses his!
* DisappearedDad: [[spoiler:Heavily implied to be S's missing dad, and he greatly regrets leaving her.]]
* LukeIAmYourFather: [[spoiler:He reveals he is S's father in EX 10, but she doesn't buy it.]]
* NotSoDifferent: To Ekoro. [[spoiler:They're both loners in space-time.]]
* RummageSaleReject: Frilled dress shirt, suspenders, and...spacey balloon pants, boots, and gloves?
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Should be a hint on not to take him lightly.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: [[spoiler:Due to his wavering emotions from being a hermit, his power slipped and caused the Puyo and Tetris worlds to merge. He inadvertently incited ''the entire plot of Puyo Tetris.'']]
