The player character, who arrives in Reborn City on a train [[EstablishingSeriesMoment and narrowly avoids being killed in a terrorist attack]]. After receiving their first Pokemon from Ame, they set out to defeat the Reborn League while, by a series of coincidences, getting themselves involved in the conflict with Team Meteor.

Unlike other Pokemon games, you have two appearances for each gender available at creation, as well the option to play a gender-neutral character. The males are Vero and Kuro, the females are Alice and Lucia, and the non-binaries are Ari and Decibel.

Some will even go as far as asking for your autograph.

[[spoiler:They also assault the orphanage with only two other people and trounce most everyone there.]] And then there's the trail of defeated Meteor members left in their wake whenever they investigate Meteor's going-ons... [[spoiler:And of course, they endure the infamous 6vs30 at Glass Workstation.]]

* TheReliableOne: Judging by how often they get handed a Pokémon and told to take care of it or get enlisted to fight Meteor, most people accurately peg them as this.
* SchrodingersPlayerCharacter: Averted, as of 18. You can see the other choices for PC riding the intro train with you; they just all die in the explosion. Basically, the one you choose is the one who Ame sits across from, and the one who survives.

* ChildProdigy: A large number of the Gym Leaders were skilled battlers even at an early age, or are skilled battlers at an early age.
* DysfunctionJunction: '''Dear god, yes.''' At least half of the gym leaders have a serious psychological problem, social issue, or something in their past, that makes up a noticeable part of their characterization. If we listed all of them here, it'd be a very long list.
* MeaningfulName: In addition to the puns regarding their name and type, their Trainer titles that replace the traditional "Gym Leader" tend to have something to do with their personality or characterization. For example...
** Cheer Captain: [[ShockAndAwe Julia]] was the previous head cheerleader at OST, [[spoiler:and views herself as responsible for keeping her friends happy.]]
** Head Instructor: [[GreenThumb Florinia]] is the principal of OST now, [[spoiler: and also took a major leading part in the reconstruction of Reborn.]]

** Prodigy: [[NonElemental Noel]] is the youngest of the Gym Leaders, seen as one of the toughest fights in the game by the fans, and generally far smarter than you would expect from someone who is likely at most 12.
** Grandmaster: [[PsychicPowers Radomus]] is stated to be one of the [[TheChessmaster greatest chess players in the world]], to the point of building a fortune off of it, and extremely adept at predicting what his enemies will do in advance, [[spoiler:as seen with El's Ditto impersonating Radomus's partner Gossip Gardevoir.]]
** Dark Dreamer: [[TheSacredDarkness Luna]] is the Dark gym leader, and also sometimes thinks "outside the box" in ways that most people would see as bizarre, but which seems to work out for her (for example, turning up on Radomus and Serra's doorsteps and claiming them to be her parents, much to their confusion... and later led to both of them adopting her unofficially).
** Strongman: [[WorldsStrongestMan Samson]] is the strongman at the Agate Circus, and the most blunt and straightforward member of Reborn's [[spoiler:Fighting specialists]], which shows in his team.
** Firebug: Charlotte is the Fire gym leader, a position her mother also held, and believes herself to be (accidentally) responsible for [[SelfMadeOrphan burning down her family's old house and killing her parents]]. [[spoiler:Though it's later implied that Sirius was at least partially responsible as well for the fire.]]
** [=M3G4=]: Terra... is, to say the least, over the top in almost everything she does, not exactly very logical, [[spoiler:and, as the numbers in her title imply, sort of, [[ItMakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext fights you in a computer world]] after Cal outs her as a Team Meteor agent.]]
** Skydancer: Ciel, the last member of the Agate Aces, and for her job at the circus, is an aerial performer who uses ribbons to practically "dance" around the Big Top arena.
** [[spoiler:Visionary: Adrienn, the Fairy gym leader, was the main person responsible for inspiring the people of Reborn to rebuild the entire city, despite the city becoming a WretchedHive in the time xey were gone, still seeing hope in the future despite the horrible situation.]]
** Guardian Princess: Represents Titania's role as Amaria's guardian and how she does everything in her power to keep her safe and protect her [[spoiler:regardless of whether or not she herself likes this]], the princess title is a nod to how prioritizes classic literature over her time in Onyx school [[spoiler:as well the atmosphere of her gym almost feeling like a fairytale]].

Sometime in between then and the plot as it is now, Reborn City and it's Predecessor were built over the Citadel and the community that surrounded it. Originally he founded Meteor to protect the Citadel but as it was built over and forgotten, Meteor's purpose turned towards getting people to leave the city to restore the Citadel. While this was mostly passive at first, over time it turned into the full blown terorrism you see today, as a result of members like Lin and Sirius. In the end, what does the man get for trying to uphold his family's duty and protect Reborn's history? He loses everything he had left. His son. His pride. His organisation.]]
