Supplemental materials give him the nickname White Shooting Star/White Meteor as a counterpoint to Char's Red Comet, and later in the Universal Century he gets a unicorn motif earning himself the nickname "White Unicorn."

Character's name is Fraw, not Frau. Sources are Gundam Wiki and confirmed with the Trilogy on Netflix and Origin on Hulu.

* AchillesInHisTent: Amuro does a lot of this from shock and PTSD in the first few episodes, culminating in the infamous GetAHoldOfYourselfMan confrontation with Bright where he refuses to fight or even get dressed. Frau finally snaps him out of it with a YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre.
* ActOfTrueLove: The entire franchise kicks off this way... although it's a DoubleSubversion. Amuro starts piloting the Gundam explicitly because he doesn't want Frau Bow to get hurt again... then he becomes ongoingly cold and distant to her due to the stress of it all, she spends the rest of the war worrying he'll be killed or that he doesn't care about her, their relationship undergoes a ''lot'' of strain, and it's only [[spoiler:after the FinalBattle with his PsychicPowers that Amuro does reaffirm that [[ImpliedLoveInterest Frau is very special and important to him]]]].

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: His first scene is when Frau finds him in his room fiddling with a computer in his home electronics lab -- only in his underwear, having skipped several meals, and not particularly troubled that the sirens he'd been hearing were evacuation alerts. And Frau ''still'' has to nag him out of his room! Amuro having to learn how to deal with others is a major theme in the series.
* EveryoneHasStandards: For as [[BloodKnight rabid a combatant and survivalist]] in the heat of battle that he can be, Amuro only shoots at people on-foot if they're [[ArchEnemy Char]] or already gunning for him and his friends. As a few Zeon soldiers and Ramba Ral can attest, Amuro has a heart of gold if he can humanize his enemy, and in certain cases even works to save them if they can't fight back. A lot of this is thanks to his civilian perspective he shares with Frau and other civvies, as he lacks the harsh bias and anger for Zeon that the Federation parts of the cast understandably hold.

* ObliviousToLove: Downplayed, played with, and finally subverted, but however you view Amuro's relationship with Frau, for most of the series, despite interludes of having her brought to his attention, he seemingly either ignores or is oblivious to her very strong feelings for him -- though she's not very direct, either. By the last episode he finally manages to use his PsychicPowers [[spoiler:to call her ''"boku no suki na Frau"'' (roughly "my sweet Frau")]], suggesting [[LoveEpiphany he figured something out]].

His DisappearedDad has been completely caught up in his work for months, if not years, leaving Amuro to fend for himself and only Frau Bow to make sure he manages. Actually gets wrenchingly upgraded and inverted over the course of the show, [[spoiler:when Amuro meets, [[ParentalAbandonment then ends up having to leave both his parents behind]] in order to keep fighting and protect ''White Base'']].
* PhraseCatcher: ''[[TheInsomniac "You should get some rest, Amuro."]]'' Also ''[[UsedToBeASweetKid "This isn't like you, Amuro."]]'', from Frau.

* SexyCoatFlashing: Subverted when Frau tries a low-key version by hanging outside of his room in a uniform coat and her nightshirt, but Amuro's too distracted by Matilda and plain oblivious to ask what she wants, why she's dressed like that, or see what's under the coat. Maybe it wasn't the most provoking choice for someone who frequently hangs out underdressed.

More like [[IncrediblyLamePun "shipper in your combined mecha"]]; Sayla takes advantage of a test run to corner Amuro as they're sitting in space and ask him point-blank how he feels about Frau, admonish him for his cold attitude, and tell him that friends are important in war. Amuro's longtime best friend from Side 7, 15-year-old Frau Bow does her best to keep him grounded in reality. Taking several noncombatant roles aboard ''White Base'', she ends in charge of the ship's communications. Steadfast, kind, and loyal, Frau genuinely loves Amuro and serves as his confidante and emotional support, hoping the war won't take him beyond her reach.

* ThereAreNoTherapists: DoubleSubverted with Amuro. Frau's the only one to note or care when Amuro's exhausted or gently-yet-firmly try to reach him when he's isolating or running away, but she's ultimately too close, too young and not trained; this is something she can't fix.

* WomenAreWiser: In line with both Mirai and Sayla generally being shown as smarter, more mature, and more self-controlled than the male WB crew, CloserToEarth Frau is frequently shown as this to angry, impulsive Amuro.
* YamatoNadeshiko: Frau is meant to be a thoroughly Western girl, but given that it's a classic anime, she's ''really'' got the "serving yet guiding the hero" and "life off the battlefield" thing down. Bonus for having the uniform with the most [[StealthPun pink]].
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: When Amuro's refusing to fight, Frau ends up reiterating this, and it works.

One of Amuro and Frau Bow's neighbours from Side 7, 15-year-old Hayato serves in a number of positions on the ''White Base'', acting as the pilot of the Guntank, and as a spare gunner when the situation demands. Possessing an unfortunate tendency towards insecurity, he deeply resents Amuro for doing things better than him.
