Characters / Medal of Honor: Underground

Go To

For Manon Batiste's and Col. Stanley Hargrove's profiles, go to Medal of Honor (1999).

Main Campaign

    Jacques Batiste
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/jacques_batiste_mohujpg.png

The older brother of Manon Batiste, and a fellow member of the French Resistance.

  • Doomed by Canon: Since Manon mentioned that he was killed in action prior to the events of Medal of Honor (1999), it was inevitable that he would die in Underground somehow.
  • Escort Mission: Becomes the subject of quite possibly the most tolerable one in existence. Jacques seems to shrug off gunfire, and is armed with an SMG and is very good at scoring headshots with it. He actually doesn't really need much help 99% of the time. However...
  • Killed Off for Real: He crashed a munitions truck in a barrier, causing an explosion that killed him.
  • Rebel Leader: He served as the leader of his respective French Resistance cell up until his death in May 1942.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Manon keeps Jacques's locket as memento.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: He's killed during the game's first mission, and we only learn more about him through Manon's and Hargrove's accounts of him.

    Fabrice Delacroix

Fabrice as he appears in Medal of Honor: Frontline

A French Resistance Agent who serves as Manon's Mission Control in "Occupied!" following Jacques' death. He later returns in Frontline, serving as Lt. Jimmy Patterson's Mission Control during parts of "A Storm in the Port".

  • The Bus Came Back: He returns in Medal of Honor: Frontline as Jimmy Patterson's Mission Control for "A Storm in the Port". He also provides Jimmy with additional intel, weapons, ammunition, and the layout of the Lorient shipyards.
  • Mission Control: He serves as this for Manon in the second, third, and fourth sections of "Occupied!" following Jacques' death. During Frontline, he serves as this for Jimmy Patterson during "A Storm in the Port" from the second level onward.
  • The Mole: He's been spying on the German activity in the Lorient shipyards prior to Patterson's mission, thus giving the latter vital info he needs to accomplish his mission.
  • Non-Action Guy: His main role in the Resistance is to serve as a spy and observe the actions of the Germans, rather than fight them directly like Manon.
  • The Voiceless: His voice is never heard, due to him only appearing on mission briefings.

    Captain Ted Aubrick
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ted_aubrick_mohujpg.png

An OSS officer serving as part of Col. Hargrove's staff. He becomes Manon's main contact in the OSS outside of Col. Hargrove, serving as her Mission Control.

  • Mission Control: He serves as Manon's own contact in the field following her being recruited into the OSS.
  • Mr. Exposition: His role is simply to provide Manon with the context of her mission and her respective objectives that she needs to accomplish.
  • Non-Action Guy: He's never seen in the field nor in combat, which is justified due to him being a staff officer and not a field commander.
  • The Voiceless: While the player constantly receives written orders from him, his voice is never heard.

    Sonntag
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonntag.png

A German Officer and mechanic, who is secretly a Double Agent working for the Allied Forces via the OSS. He becomes Manon's getaway driver during the events of "A Mittelwerk Saboteur".

  • All Germans Are Nazis: He's a notable aversion, being a low-ranking German officer who sided with the Allies against his fellow countrymen who subscribe to the Nazi cause.
  • Badass Biker: He's quite proficient in handling the BMW R75, and ultimately gets himself and Manon out of harm's way, even driving across several ravines and cliffs as they drive down a heavily defended mountain road.
  • Badass Driver: He manages to successfully get Manon out of a heavily defended German missile factory without getting either of themselves killed, on top of having successfully jumped across several ravines with barricades.
  • Getaway Driver: A non-criminal example, as he's an OSS contact and Double Agent who helps OSS agent Manon Batiste escape via motorcycle.

    Helene Fourcade
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/helene_3.png

A member of the French Resistance based in Paris. She serves as Manon's Mission Control in "Liberation!".

  • La RĂ©sistance: A member of the French Resistance like Manon, and a high-ranking member at that.
  • Mission Control: Serves as this for Manon during the entirety of "Liberation!".
  • Rebel Leader: She's the leader of another French Resistance cell, and is cooperating with Manon and her group in order to instigate an uprising in Paris.
  • The Voiceless: Due to being only featured in briefings, her voice is never heard.

Panzerknacker Unleashed!

    Panzerknacker
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/a_new_partner.png
"Ich bin der Panzer-knacker!"

The titular character of Panzerknacker Unleashed!. He's a prototype for a Nazi Robot Soldier program. Lt. Jimmy Patterson comes across his scattered parts upon raiding the Black Forest Castle. Upon being cornered by mass-produced Nazi Panzerknackers, Patterson is given the idea of reassembling the automaton by Col. Hargrove, which the Lieutenant promptly does. He then assists Patterson in escaping the Black Forest Castle.

  • Ascended Extra: Started as one of many secret characters in the first game's multiplayer. Here he gets his own campaign and backstory.
  • Made of Iron: Literally. He's made of metal, and can take quite a lot of punishment from enemies before being killed.
  • Red Is Heroic: Unlike his mass produced successors, the Panzerknacker that Jimmy assembles has a red body, and proves to be a valuable ally in his escape.
  • Robot Soldier: He's an automaton that was originally designed by a former SS scientist to fight for the Germans. Patterson instead reconstructs it to fight for the Allies instead.
  • Secondary Character Title: While he's the titular character of the bonus campaign, he's not the Player Character (that would be Jimmy Patterson).
  • Stupid Jetpack Hitler: He's the end result of a Nazi scientist's research into automatons, serving as the first in an entire production line intended for Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS use.
  • Super Prototype: The Panzerknacker Jimmy assembles looks different from the mass produced Nazi Evil Knockoff ones, is far more durable, and far more proficient with the use of small arms than his mass produced successors. It can even teleport.
