The Assistant, although a technical fanfiction of The Legend of Zelda, contains many unique characters throughout its written world.
Spoilers Ahead!
Main Characters:
Jack Katsumi
"Jack Katsumi. He is five feet and nine inches tall. He has black hair, brown eyes, is… right-handed? No, left-handed. His favorite food is eggs with cheese, his favorite color is light blue. He dreams of becoming the greatest knight to walk this world."
As a knight of the prestigious army of Eunia, Jack Katsumi has undergone some of the most rigorous physical and mental training of all time. As a result, he's Strong and Skilled and has Nerves of Steel, two assets that will help him Screw Destiny and save his hometown.- Experienced Protagonist: Dreaming to be a knight and signing up for knight's training as early as possible? No wonder Jack can do some incredible things in the first chapters.
- Heroic Self-Deprecation: Downplayed. When your father is considered the undisputed greatest knight of all time, those can be large shoes to fill, even if you might be better than him.
- Knight in Shining Armor: Literal. This is a medieval work, after all.
- Nerves of Steel: Downplayed and Justified. Probably the only knight that has taken his country's mental training seriously, even if the situation might get to him occasionally.
- The Protagonist: The POV mostly follows Jack, although it is elsewhere on occasion.
- The Unchosen One: When a prophecy predicts the destruction of your town, and you've been taught that nothing can stop you, you'd do something about it, too.
- Unique Protagonist Asset: Jack's unwavering determination to defy the prophecy may just be what makes him the one to accomplish it.
