->Voiced by: Creator/BanjoGinga (Japanese)
->Voiced by: French Tickner (Ocean dub)
->Voiced by: Creator/KentWilliams (Funimation dub)
->Voiced by: Ernesto Lezama (Latin American)

A filler villain who only appears in the anime. He is the dictator of planet Arlia. He comes into conflict with Vegeta and Nappa when they come to conquer Arlia, and is eventually killed by them.
* AliensAreBastards: He is a tyrant who forces his men to fight each other to the death, and he keeps the good Arlians locked in a dungeon.
* AssholeVictim: He becomes one of the victims of Vegeta and Nappa's planet-looting ways, but is shown to have been an evil ruler who got what he deserved.
* BadBoss: He forces his men to fight each other to the death, and feeds any survivors to Yeti.
* CanonForeigner: He doesn't appear in the original manga.
* DirtyCoward: He begs for mercy after Nappa kills Yeti.
* EvilerThanThou: Vegeta and Nappa are this to him. They easily kill him and all his guards.
* EvilVersusEvil: Him and his guards vs Vegeta and Nappa.
* IHaveYourWife: Inverted. Moai forced Lemlia to be his queen by holding her husband captive in his dungeon.

Another filler villain who only appears in the anime. She appears as a very beautiful woman but in reality, she is a giant snake temptress who lures people into her castle on Snake Way.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Her and her attendants all have blue skin.
* AnimalMotifs: Snakes.
* AnimalThemeNaming: Again, snakes.
* BeautyIsBad: She appears as a very beautiful woman, but in reality, she is a giant snake temptress who lures people into her castle on Snake Way.
* CanonForeigner: She doesn't appear in the original manga.
* EvilRedhead: Has a full head of orange hair.
* IfICantHaveYou: She lusts after Goku, and wants to make him her husband. After she finds out he's already married, she decides to just eat him.
* ImAHumanitarian: Tries to eat Goku after she finds out he's married.
* MistakenIdentity: Goku mistakes her for King Kai when they first meet.
* NoodleIncident: Apparently had a run in with King Yemma 500 years ago.
* OneWingedAngel: She is able to transform into a giant snake.
* {{Qipao}}: She and her attendants wear them, and all of them have scales, as befitting her motif.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: When she shows her evil face.
* ShoutOut: A temptress trying to lure a married hero while he's in the middle of a long voyage sounds remarkably similar to Circe and Calypso from ''Literature/TheOdyssey''. Her being able to transform into a giant snake also recalls Circe being able to turn men into animals (most famously pigs).
* VillainessesWantHeroes: Is interested in Goku, until she finds out he's already married.

Two Saiyans from 100 years ago (or illusions if you’re watching the Japanese version) that are utilized by Kami to train the Z-Fighters for Nappa and Vegeta’s arrival. They are filler characters who don't appear in the original manga.

* AllThereInTheManual: Their Japanese names were revealed in the Japanese Daizenshuu books.
* AllThereInTheScript: Their English names were revealed in the credits roll of the Funimation dub.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: Shorty is the big guy, Scarface is the little guy.
* CanonForeigner: They didn't appear in the original manga.
* DubInducedPlotHole: In the English dub the pendulum room sends the Z-Fighters back 100 years to Age 662. The problem is Frieza didn't take over Planet Vegeta until Age 731. This means Shorty and Scarface shouldn't have battle armor or scouters. This is averted in the original Japanese version where they are stated to simply be illusions.
* IronicName: Shorty is the taller of the two.
* MyGrandmaCanDoBetterThanYou: In the English dub, Scarface uses this line to ridicule the Z-Fighters' power levels.
-->'''Scarface:''' Hey, my grandmother can gather energy faster than that but don't feel bad, she's one tough cookie!
* NamedAfterSomeoneFamous: Scarface's name in the dub is a reference to famous gangster Al Capone's nickname.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted, Scarface and Shugesh share the same name in Japanese.
* OddNameOut: They are the only Saiyans in the series whose names aren't based on vegetables. Averted in the original Japanese version where their names are based on broccoli and pumpkin.
* ThoseTwoBadGuys: They are never seen apart.

Six plant monsters grown by Nappa to fight the Z warriors.

* ActionBomb: Saibaman Bomb, their ace in the hole, turns them into one. In Budokai 3 they have a timer on their head that counts down to 0.
* HollywoodAcid: Able to shoot it from their heads.
* LastOfHisKind: Nappa says that the six they bring to Earth are all that's left after a crazy battle that saw a large number of them killed. By the end of the arc, they're extinct.
* {{Mooks}}: And in ''Videogame/DragonBallOnline'' they've become established on Earth and diversified to fill several ecological and mook niches.
* PlantPerson: They're grown from seeds.
* SoLastSeason: They may be mooks, but they're the equivalent to Raditz in power (though one of the games says that their power is dependent on the quality of the soil they're planted in). The Z Fighters are still able to destroy them with little effort, except for when Yamcha gets hit with one's SuicideAttack.
* SuicideAttack: Saibaman Bomb is a kamikaze technique that turns the Saibaman into a living bomb that grabs hold of its opponent with an extremely tight grip and quickly self-destructs. Just ask Yamcha.
* WhatMeasureIsAMook: Vegeta callously blew one up for losing to Tien.

Two filler villains who appear only in the anime. When our heroes arrive at a planet they mistakenly believe is Namek, Raiti and Zaacro disguise themselves as Namekians in an attempt to steal the heroes' ship so they can get off the planet, in which they are stranded on.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: In their Namekian disguise they have green skin, and in their true form they had red skin.
* BigGuyLittleGuy: Raiti being the little guy and Zaacro being the big guy.
* CanonForeigner: They don't appear in the original manga.
* FatAndSkinny: Raiti is the fat and Zaacro is the skinny; this is only in their Namekian disguise, however.
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: While not twins, their true forms look remarkably similar. The only way to tell them apart is that Raiti's form is shorter and is a darker shade of red.
* MindOverMatter: Zaacro demonstrates this ability to Krillin.
* OverlyLongTongue: Raiti has the ability to grasp things with his tongue.
* {{Shapeshifting}}: Both shapeshift into Namekians to trick our heroes.

* NiceHat: Salt and Vinegar both wear Mongolian-style hats.
* NumberTwo: Spice for Garlic Jr.
* OddNameOut: In the Japanese version Vinegar is the only Spice Boy whose name isn't based on a food pun, it is flat out Vinegar.
* PrehensileHair: Spice is able to grow his hair out and attack with it.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Vinegar has purple skin.

[[folder:Android 20 (Dr. Gero)]]

->Voiced by: Koji Yada (Most media), Ikuya Sawaki (all media from 2015 onwards) (Japanese)
->Voiced by: Creator/BrianDobson (Ocean dub)
->Voiced by: Creator/KentWilliams (Funimation dub)
->Voiced by: Ed Marcus (AB Groupe/"Big Green")

Used to be a scientist for the Red Ribbon Army from the first series which Goku single-handedly destroyed. By ''Z'' he has turned himself into an Android (number 20) and plots revenge on Goku, but the plan pretty much backfires on him. He returns again in ''GT'', but doesn't fare any better.
* AIIsACrapshoot:
** Inverted. In the main universe, he apparently made no less than twenty androids which ''all'' ended up doing a HeelFaceTurn somewhere down the line. Finally averted with 19 (and, if you count the movies, 13, 14 and 15), Cell, and himself, since he could be sure ''he'' would stay evil.
** 17 and 18 stay evil in the original timeline. Problem is, they still ended up killing him.
* AnArmAndALeg: Piccolo chops off his left arm.
* AndYourLittleDogToo: After Yamcha escapes with the heart virus-stricken Goku, Gero lets them go, declaring that he'll kill Goku later. In the meantime, he'll amuse himself by killing all of Goku's friends, outright saying that he'll enjoy doing so.
* ArcVillain: Of the Androids Saga before Cell took the role.
* TheBadGuyWins: Even though he could only watch his victory from Hell, he is the ''only'' villain in the Dragon Ball saga to get ''exactly'' what he wanted; the death of Son Goku at the hands of his creations. (Alas for him, it doesn't stick.)
* BadassBookworm: He found a way to make a bio-android called Cell from four different species (five if the theories about Tien being part alien is true, SIX into another one if [[spoiler: Android 21 is canon]]) and incorporate their powers into it, as well as making deadly androids including making himself into one.
* BeautyEqualsGoodness: Inverted. He's a mean old bastard who looks more haggard than the oldest man on Earth.
* BestServedCold: He waited fourteen years after the fall of the Red Ribbon Army before moving to take his revenge on Goku. He wanted to make sure his androids were more than powerful enough to kill him. In Trunks and Cell's timelines, Goku died before he could act. In the main timeline, Gero messed up by not knowing about the Super Saiyan transformation and badly underestimated Goku and his group.
* BigBadDuumvirate: With Dr. Myu in the Super 17 Saga.
* BigBadWannabe: Although he is very powerful, he's many times stronger than Frieza, him underestimating the Saiyans and Piccolo despite his research proves to be his undoing. That and he thought raw power alone was enough to beat a group who have trained their entire lives and he was shortsighted enough to give himself the weaker android design instead of the more powerful endless energy model like Androids 17 and 18.
* BrainInAJar: His brain is concealed in a glass dome under his hat.
* BrickJoke: Vegeta mentions that his head probably rolls just as well as 19's. It does.
* BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu: Gero gave everything to kill Goku after he single-handily destroyed the Red Ribbon Army. He eventually gets his wish when Cell kills Goku through his fail self-destruction. However, his obsession with beating Goku cost him his life and his ultimate creation is destroyed by Gohan, the son of the man he spent the last part of his life trying to destroy. Also in the end, [[MeaninglessVillainVictory his victory turns out to be meaningless]] since Goku returns to life seven years later and stronger than ever.
* BullyingADragon: He repeatedly insults and berates 17 and 18 who were rebellious teenagers before he kidnapped them and forcibly turned them into cyborgs. Cyborgs far stronger than he is, mind you. What happened to him was inevitable. And there's a double dose of TooDumbToLive. When Dr. Gero built 17 and 18, he realized how difficult they were to control, so he came up with a new design for future androids that, while still very strong, were more limited in their power. Sounds pretty savvy, right? Except that he then rebuilt his own body and used the deliberately weakened design rather than the fully powered one that might've enabled him to stand up to 17 and 18 (or better yet, to not even need them in the first place). Yeah, he's a genius, alright.
* ButHeSoundsHandsome: He certainly doesn't spare words to praise his own work while he's posing as just one of Dr. Gero's creations. Piccolo even deduces correctly that his praise for Gero means that he ''is'' Gero before Bulma confirms it.
* CriticalResearchFailure:
** InUniverse. Gero calculates how strong Goku will become base on his stats from the Saiyan Saga. When Goku asked if they follow them into space, he says it was unnecessary since it was concluded that Goku wouldn't grow that much stronger given his age. This is a big failure considering that Goku is only 28 years old (with the bonus of being dead for a year, which makes him physically 27) which even for a normal human is round about the age of their physical prime. Saiyans have the bonus of aging slower than humans, something Gero should have realized or at least suspected while watching Goku all this time, meaning Goku isn't at the physical peak for a Saiyan. [[EpicFail For a scientist who work on modified humans, Gero should have known this]].
** Another InUniverse example. Gero is surprised that he is easily being beaten by Piccolo after he sucked much of his energy. Piccolo explains to him that since they can raise and amplify their powers in short bursts, the power he stole really didn't amount to much. Which really should be obvious to Gero since from his research, he should have known that all the Earth's fighters can suppress their energy to almost zero and raise their battle power for a short amount of time. Vegeta realizes this just by listening to Raditz's battle with Piccolo and Goku, and ''Frieza'' came to the same realization while fighting Goku. Even Captain Ginyu figured it out just by observing Goku without even fighting him. For someone who spied on Goku for almost twenty years, how the heck did Gero miss this detail?
* CutLexLuthorACheck: He was the leading scientist of the Red Ribbon Army: a military global superpower and rival to Capsule Corp. in terms of its technological output. When Goku puts an end to the RR, he makes death machines, some of which run on perpetual energy, to kill Goku as revenge, and it's known without Goku they'll turn the planet into a hellhole. He probably could have made a huge profit out from his cybernetic enhancements, weapons, etc. Piccolo even lampshades this after chopping off Gero's arm, declaring his efforts to be a "waste of technology."
* {{Cyborg}}: Makes himself into one in order to make sure the latest model wouldn't HeelFaceTurn him.
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: The primary goal of the androids, outside of world conquest. Gero built the androids specifically to kill Goku. Given all the resources, dedication, and time he put into this, he obviously viewed Goku as almost god-like. Even the weakest Android is many times stronger than Frieza and he was considered the strongest in the universe. It was his creation Cell that achieved Gero's dream, both surpassing Goku in power and killing him, although that last part was willing on Goku's end.
* DidntSeeThatComing: Despite all his monitoring of Goku and his friends, he's caught completely flat-footed by the Super Saiyan transformation. He also couldn't understand why Piccolo was so powerful. His plans would have been completely ruined if he didn't make Androids 16, 17, and 18 so powerful by accident and his UnintentionalBackupPlan with creating Cell.
* DirtyCoward: His entire fighting style consists of trying to sneak up on people so he can drain their life, and he constantly runs away as soon as TheDogBitesBack.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Though he was [[WhatCouldHaveBeen intended as]] the true and straightforward villain of the Android Saga, a few mocking words from Toriyama's former editor about him and 19's designs quickly turned him into this trope and prompted the introduction of 16, 17, and 18, who ''themselves'' would soon follow suit in favor of Cell.
* DisproportionateRetribution: His hatred towards Goku for destroying the Red Ribbon Army caused him to make a series of androids that turn the future timeline into a hellhole and nearly destroy the solar system in the main timeline. It becomes even more disproportionate when you remember that his former boss, Commander Red, wanted the Dragon Balls to wish for height. However, it is possible that Goku's actions also led [[AllThereInTheManual his son being killed by an enemy bullet]] when the RR army lost a lot of military might. Said son is the inspiration for Android 16's looks which also explains why he didn't want 16 to fight. We'll never know for sure now that Gero is dead.
** His sanity also steadily takes hits in his quest for revenge to the point where he blames everything for his son's death and the downfall of the Red Ribbon army. This leads him to program a bio-android with the DNA of the galaxies strongest warriors to hate all forms of life so he would exterminate every living thing in existence. [[Characters/DragonBallCell And the rest is history]].
* DubNameChange: He's renamed as "Dr. Maki" in the Latin American dub for some reason. However, they start to call him "Dr. Maki Gero" in the episode in which Bulma reveals that Android 20 was Dr. Gero (by having her explain that "Maki Gero" was his full name). From then onwards, he is referred to as "Dr. Maki Gero" for the rest of the series (including ''GT''), though he'd still be called just "Dr. Gero" a few times.
* EnergyAbsorption: Abuses this until Piccolo tears off his right arm.
* EpicFail: On top of his TooDumbToLive moments, he has so many vital cases of InUniverse CriticalResearchFailure that he may win the award for being the smartest dumb person:
** Whether it was actually impossible or he just didn't bother, not following Goku to Namek with his observations and combat data recording truly deserves this trope. What with the Super Saiyan transformation and all…
---> '''Vegeta:''' Your ''boneheaded'' creator picked a fine chapter to omit from your memory banks!
** For someone who researched modifying humans to turn them into killer cyborgs, the fact that he concluded that Goku won't become that much stronger because of his age is a massive miscalculation, especially given that he knows about the Saiyans.
** There's also him not realizing that the Z-Fighters can raise their powers in short bursts and not taking that into account for his energy-absorbing android models.
** Him not knowing that Piccolo has telepathy. He must have seen at several points that Piccolo and his father, King Piccolo, had the ability to communicate with only their thoughts. He obviously didn't know this since he was shocked that Piccolo was able to call for help despite his mouth being covered.
** At this point, he's already successfully turned flesh-and-blood humans into immensely powerful cyborgs who run on ''infinite energy,'' yet he outfits himself with the weaker, more flawed energy absorption model for some unknowable reason. Not to mention he did this to two young children he ''KIDNAPPED'' and turned into killing machines against their will. Not once does he consider this to be a reason behind their rebelling against him.
** Revealed in a bonus in Super's manga, he for some incomprehensible reason, [[CompletelyMissingThePoint initially concluded that the reason 17 tried to kill him the first time he was activated must have been due to having too high a power level]] and purposefully made 18 weaker than him by putting built-in limiters in her design in hopes that she would be more obedient. [[EpicFail It obviously doesn't work and 18 tries to kill him too]], since the real reason is obviously that they hate him for kidnapping them, performing awful experiments on them, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and trying to tell them what to do]].
** Gero created 17 and 18 to kill Goku, and, as the Future timeline showed, to KillAllHumans if Goku was dead already. [[spoiler: Not only 17 and 18 ''save'' Goku multiple times, but 17 also becomes the protector to the human race in general and goes on to win the Tournament of Power and save the multiverse, and that's after 17 attempted a HeroicSacrifice to save Goku and Vegeta, no less.]] In whatever hell Gero is in, he surely is kicking himself '''hard.'''
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: For all the pain and tragedy associated with his actions, ''every'' indication to date has heavily leaned on the idea that he genuinely cared for his family while it was still whole. According to a recent interview with Akira Toriyama, Gero based [[spoiler:Android #16's]] design off his dead son who was a former Red Ribbon army soldier felled by a bullet. Gero, having a special place in his heart for his son, gave [[spoiler:16]] great power and his explosive mechanism. But, not wanting him to be destroyed in battle if possible, gave him a gentle personality which caused [[spoiler:16]] to outwardly be considered a "failed model". [[spoiler:''Dragon Ball [=FighterZ=]'' implies that he also turned his wife into Android 21, though sadly she doesn't remember being human and only knows what she read in her own file, which neglected to mention her or 16's connection to Gero (though it did mention that 16's human inspiration was her child).]]
* EvilGenius: Not just creating androids, but also making ''himself'' into one. He also created Cell, who was proclaimed the UltimateLifeForm thanks to his genetic heritage.
* EvilIsNotAToy: After being defeated by the Z Fighters, he hit the GodzillaThreshold and reactivated Androids 17 and 18, hoping to be able to control them with a remote deactivation device... which they promptly swipe and destroy the moment he lets his guard down.
* EvilIsPetty: His ''entire'' beef with Goku is simply because Goku cost him his job and funding when Goku destroyed the Red Ribbon Army... at least, in his ''early'' depictions and his initial appearances. Later material reveals his motivation goes somewhat deeper, and while it's still very myopic (his son may have died for Red Ribbon, but his son still died for a leader who didn't care and a cause that would've made the world a worse place) and ultimately petty, it's at least more understandable.
* EvilOldFolks: The most notable other than Babidi. He all but destroyed Future Trunks's world and the main timeline over a petty (well, not so petty to him, but still very myopic) grudge.
* ExactWords: When Goku demands that they move the fight to a deserted area, Gero decides to ''make'' a deserted area by using his EyeBeams to level the entire city.
-->'''Dr. Gero''': I cleared the area of innocents, in accordance with your wishes. Do you disagree with my methods?
* EyeBeams: His primary method of attack.
* FreudianExcuse: According to WordOfGod, his son was killed in action while serving in the Red Ribbon Army. This would explain why he hates Goku so much, since he destroyed the army [[SenselessSacrifice his son died fighting for]].
* GoThroughMe: When Android 19 is draining Goku's energy, Gero puts himself between the other Z-Fighters and tells them that they're going to just stand there and [[ForcedToWatch watch Goku die]] unless they can get past him, punctuating his statement by shooting Piccolo in the chest with his EyeBeams. Of course, he doesn't account for Vegeta arriving on the scene.
* GodzillaThreshold: His reactivation of Android 17 and 18 is a villainous example. He knew how rebellious they were, but having exhausted all other options, and with the Z-Fighters literally at his doorstep, he was desperate enough to give it a try. Oh, sure, they manage to fight off the Z-Fighters with ease... but not before turning on Gero and killing him.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Really, despite his comparatively low screentime, one could make a pretty good argument for him warranting his own page just due to his ''overall'' significance to the wider plot. Between assisting the rise of Red Ribbon originally, being the original creator of Android 8, creating Androids 17 & 18 and their resulting future rampage, creating 17 & 18 ''period'' out of a pair of unwilling teens, attempting to hunt down Goku with all the Androids, creating Cell, causing 17 to go Super in ''GT'', being indirectly yet still pointedly responsible for what later happens to the future in ''Super'' (if Trunks didn't need to time travel, Zamasu would never have targeted Trunks' time and probably never would have met Goku thus avoiding his StartOfDarkness) and in the deutero-canonical ''VideoGame/DragonBallFighterZ'' [[spoiler:he turned his kindhearted wife and mother of his son into a nigh unstoppable android which lead to her resulting suffering and rampage (though he couldn't have known posthumanously his machines would recover and use the cells of a monster named [[Characters/DragonBallMajinBuu Majin Buu]], leading to her going insane from gnawing hunger, it's still completely his fault and even without Buu he still preformed those inhumane experiments on her for the purpose of killing Goku. Without Buu's DNA, she could've even ended up like Cell.]] In short, he's responsible for more death and suffering for our heroes across the franchise than nearly any other ''Dragon Ball'' villain. The only people who can even ''remotely'' compare are Frieza and Majin Buu.
* GrumpyOldMan: Perpetual DeathGlare, prone to yelling, and he has a very bitter-sounding voice. It's obvious he was meant to be this, even if he wasn't evil.
* HiddenDepths:
** Loved his deceased son enough to [[spoiler: devote his time modeling Android 16 after him]]. Makes him more powerful than 17 and 18, but giving a gentle programming to avoid combat so 16 would outlive him. Needless to say, 17 and 18 meddling to bring about his activation, [[DontTouchItYouIdiot really pisses the old guy off]].
** [[spoiler: His reasons for Androidizing his possible wife are also vague - there's the possibility he wanted to save her life and ensure that she, too, outlived him. There's also the possibility that he thought it would be easier to control an android that already loved him or it could be a combination of both. Regardless of what his reasons were it is made absolutely clear by the game that she still never should've had to go through what he did to her, and on top of that because of Buu, the process left her with a fatal design flaw that made her go insane with the desire to eat people to the point of developing multiple personalities. This is something that is extremely distressing to 21 herself (who can't remember him at all), leaving her confused as to what she is and why he would create a dangerous monster like her.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[RuleOfThree Three times]]. His androids end up betraying him in every timeline.
* ImmortalitySeeker: He tells Androids 17 and 18 that he rebuilt himself into an android because he wants to live forever. [[EpicFail 17 kills him a few minutes later]].
* InformedAbility: He claims to be stronger than Android 19 after Vegeta effortlessly blows the android apart. He never backs up this claim and gets his butt handed to him by Piccolo, even after he drains almost all of Piccolo's energy.
* {{Irony}}:
** His hatred of Goku is the stuff of legends, but he never seemed to realize that in using Goku's DNA in Cell's creation, part of Goku would live on through Cell.
** If ''[=FighterZ=]'' is canon, [[spoiler: this extends to his wife 21, who also has some of Goku's DNA. Not only would Goku live on, he made the person he loved partly become the person he hated to the point of insanity.]]
** Android 17 is his walking irony in that not only 17 [[DeathByIrony offs him]], but he also joined Goku in the Universal Tournament [[spoiler:''and saves the entire multiverse''. Essentially, he made what was intended to be an AntiChrist towards Goku to have directly saved quadrillions of lives.]]
* ItsPersonal: The entire Android/Cell Saga can be seen as one big 'It's Personal' towards Goku since Dr. Gero built the androids specifically to kill Goku as vengeance for destroying the Red Ribbon Army.
* ItIsPronouncedTroPAY: The US and many European dubs pronounce his name with a soft "G" (making his name sound French) while in Japanese it's a hard "G". (There's actually a pretty good reason for this, as "Ghe-roh" doesn't keep to the ThemeNaming as much as "jhe-roh" seems to.)
* KickTheSonOfABitch: After all the misery he caused in Trunks' future because of his hatred towards one man and being a SmugSnake to boot, no one shed a tear when 17 killed him.
* LaserGuidedKarma: Dr. Gero kidnapped two teenagers to do his bidding, and is single-handedly responsible for Trunks' BadFuture. He is killed by Android 17, the computer programmed with his memories incinerated by Trunks, and to top it off his Cell project is brought down with help from the very android he designed after [[spoiler: his [[ReplacementGoldfish own son]]]].
* MadScientist: He created Cell and the androids with science; notably, he's one of the few fighting varieties of the franchise.
* ManBehindTheMan: Subverted as he shows up first and all of his creations are a much bigger threat than he is.
* MeaninglessVillainVictory: In the end, he got what he wanted. Goku is killed by his greatest creation. Cell, however, is soon killed afterwards by Gohan and Goku returns to life seven years later.
* MisplacedRetribution: In ''GT'', he teams up with Dr. Myuu to get revenge on Goku for his death, dismissing the fact that both he and Myuu were killed by their own creations.
* MoralMyopia:
** Starts screaming at Vegeta that that's enough after Vegeta beats 19 so brutally that 19 is running for his life. Vegeta quickly calls him out on this, pointing out that they had come to kill him and the Z-Fighters in the first place, and it's only "enough" because Gero is losing. Not only this, Gero and 19 were the ones committing mass murder on the helpless several chapters earlier.
** His entire grudge against Goku stinks of this. Gero only cares that he lost his job when Goku destroyed the Red Ribbons; never mind the fact that they were an evil army who terrorized innocent people, and Gero willingly built killer robots for them to help them do so.
* NeverMyFault: Created the androids and Cell and left them to terrorize innocent populations to spite Goku for destroying his machines. Machines that he'd knowingly built for an organisation that terrorized innocent populations.
* NiceHat: He wears a rather intimidating Russian toque. It's actually screwed onto his head and locked into place on a set of teeth like a bottle cap, used to disguise his brain dome from being implanted into a cyborg body. However, if he gets hit hard enough, the hat comes off its port and goes flying. The hat gets knocked off twice -- the first time, it's to reveal his unusual nature, and he's able to recover the hat. The second time, the hat crashes down a chasm and remains lost.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: His creation of the Android siblings [[spoiler: saves all of ''Dragon Ball''[='s=] verse from being blinked out of existence by the two Zen'os, because both of them were critical to the U7 team winning the tournament (with 17 personally actually ''winning'' the entire thing). 17 would then go on to show how much he had grown as a person by wishing for the sake of others instead of his own desires, passing Zen'o's test and proving that the current reality deserved to exist.]]
* NotMeThisTime: Played with in Movie 7. When Goku first encounters Android 13, he initially thinks that Dr. Gero created him. However, Android 13 corrects him and states that this time, he and his partners, Androids 14 and 15, were created by Gero's computer rather than Gero himself. It's not that he didn't intend to have them created so much as by the time they were created, Gero was long dead. [[spoiler:The same applies to both Cell (whose initial creation and development was handled by Gero personally but had to grow from a fetal state before being born just like any other living creature, by the time this finished Gero had died) and 21 (who he started with as a human woman and Gero set up his computer/robots to automate the work using information and algorithms he gained creating Cell, resulting in almost all of the work being done in the decade after his death).]]
* OffWithHisHead: 17 kicks his head off before crushing it under his foot.
* OmnicidalManiac:
** Cell implies after returning to Earth in his Super Perfect form that Dr. Gero may have created him for the purpose of not just killing Goku and destroying the Earth, but also the entire universe as revenge on ''life itself'' for letting the Red Ribbon Army be defeated.
** In ''GT'', Gero talks about having a dream to replace ''all life'' with artificial beings.
* OutsideContextProblem: A very mild example. The Z-Fighters are caught completely by surprise when they learned that they can't sense the androids. They have no readable energy. Androids 19 and 20 can also absorb energy, making any energy-based attacks useless until their hands are disabled or removed. However, once their gimmicks are rendered useless, they go down very easily.
* PetTheDog: A off-screen example, which depends on [[AllThereInTheManual outside sources]], but Dr. Gero, as evil as he was, had a soft spot for his family. He built Android 16 based on his late son, and was adamant on making him battle, [[spoiler: and it's implied he may have turned his wife into an android with the hopes of reviving or protecting her. She was turned insane not by his design, but due to Majin Buu's cells.]] It's massively downplayed by the fact that he still programmed 16 to want to hate and kill Goku, a lot of this code was so integrated into his back-end system that even [[GadgeteerGenius Bulma]] couldn't completely remove it. What he did to[[spoiler: 21 is heavily implied to have been against her will. Her original personality was also completely non-violent, so turning her into a killing machine was an awful thing to do to someone he loved. And then there are the implications that even without Buu's DNA she may have ended up becoming a monster like [[MixAndMatchMan Cell]] due to being made through very similar processes.]] It's also revealed in Fighterz that he [[spoiler: developed a process to rip out people's souls and stuff them into his androids' bodies to mind control them after his multiple obedience failures like 8, 17 and 18, and not only was he planning on doing this to 17 and 18 it's implied he was planning to use it on Cell and 21, perhaps even to take over Cell for himself,]] something Android 17 finds repulsive but isn't surprised by.
* PyrrhicVictory: Despite Goku being overpowered and killed by his greatest creation, [[UltimateLifeForm Cell]], the bio-android is killed soon after achieving ultimate perfection. His victory becomes utterly [[MeaninglessVillainVictory meaningless]] after Goku [[BackFromTheDead comes back to life]] seven years later with power that completely dwarfs Cell at his best.
* RememberTheNewGuy: He wasn't even mentioned in ''Dragon Ball's'' original Red Ribbon Army storyline. The anime even had a quietly ignored filler episode that claimed one Dr. Frappe (or Flappe) created androids like #8, only for Toriyama to bring that element back years later. This is later [[HandWave handwaved]] in one of the [[AllThereInTheManual databooks]] by stating that Dr. Gero and Dr. Frappe were partners on the Android project. The original dub took this a step farther by having Goku claim that he ''met'' Gero back then and was surprised to hear he was still alive. Naturally, subsequent remasters and ''Kai'' removed this line in favor of a more accurate translation.
* {{Revenge}}: It's very disproportionate considering his boss wanting to wish for height growth, which would likely have made him as mad as Black had he known, though it's more likely because Goku managed to remove his funding source.
* RunningGag: Being killed by 17. It's happened twice in canon and once in ''GT''.
--> '''Dr. Gero:''' (Just before Super 17 destroys him) [[LampshadeHanging No, not again!]] AAAGGH!!!
* SmallRoleBigImpact:
** In the timeline Trunks comes from he is never seen, being murdered offscreen by the androids, and he is killed fairly early in the main timeline too by the Androids. Still, his influence causes at least two timelines to turn into hell and nearly destroys the main timeline. Literally ''every'' bad thing that happens in Androids/Cell Saga happened because of him and his grudge against Goku. Even as far ahead as ''Super,'' Zamasu wouldn't have specifically targeted Future Trunks' world had it not been for his time traveling, which he wouldn't have had any reason to do in a world that was never terrorized by the Androids to begin with. [[spoiler:And then there's Android 21 from ''[=FighterZ=]'', a terrifyingly powerful and always-hungry bio-android converted from his own wife.]]
** His creation of Android 17 and 18 ends up [[spoiler: saving the entire ''Dragon Ball'' multiverse from annihlation. They participate in the Tournament of Power and 17 goes on to win the whole thing (and at one point 18 gets herself eliminated to make sure 17 stayed in the tournament, no less), and he then passes the Zen'os' SecretTestOfCharacter with flying colors]].
* SmugSnake:
** Starts acting like a big shot and only has the advantage because Goku was ill. As soon as Vegeta destroys 19, he quickly scampers off to activate 17 and 18.
** Before then, he acts smug again after he takes Piccolo's energy. He's quickly put in his place after Piccolo {{Curb Stomp}}s him.
* StartOfDarkness: Gero has a very clear moment that set him down the path he'd follow; the day his son, a Red Ribbon soldier, was killed in the line of duty. Everything he would later do -- all his attempts to kill Goku for destroying the army his son died for and all the people who suffered as a result, [[spoiler:building Android 16 in the image of his son, turning his implied wife into Android 21 to ensure her survival so that ''some'' part of his family would live on]] -- all stems from that one day. Most curiously, this moment has not been depicted directly in any ''Dragon Ball'' media as of yet.
* TheStoic: When he was first introduced, he was very much this. He spoke in a calm, monotone voice even as he was killing people and explaining his origins to Goku. However, the moment Goku went Super Saiyan and started to pummel Android 19, he loses this trait, going from concern, to cocky, to full-blown panic after he realizes how badly outmatched he is.
* ATasteOfTheirOwnMedicine: Gero's intention when creating the androids. After Goku destroyed the Red Ribbon Army, he wanted to create a fighter that could beat Goku on his terms and inspire the same sense of fear and dread he gave the army (hence the massive overkill on the power generators and the constantly monitoring Goku and his friends' growth in power over the years for the bio-android projects). Cell came closest to doing this to Goku (if only because he was the second of Gero's creations who fought him), but even then, he never once displayed fear of Cell, no matter how much stronger he was than him, and died on his own terms.
* ThatManIsDead: During his initial encounter with the Z Fighters, he claims Dr. Gero has passed away, and that he is simply another one of his creations.
* ThemeNaming: Given that living things in the ''DragonBall'' universe are mostly named after food or concepts related to eating, what's a totally appropriate name for someone who creates facsimiles of life and spits upon the real thing? Why, a Japanese word for vomit, of course.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill:
** When you think about it, all the androids. When he last monitored Goku on Earth, the highest power level on record was Vegeta's Ozaru form, which had a power level around 180,000. He didn't see any of the fights on Namek, so he calculated how powerful to make the androids based on what he saw on Earth. The weakest android is many times stronger than ''Frieza'', who was considered the undisputed strongest in the universe. Keep in mind, Dr. Gero didn't know that Frieza existed or what Super Saiyans were and therefore had ''no reason'' to make his creations that powerful.
** It goes further than that: Androids #16, #17 and #18 were his strongest series and it showed when they demonstrated enough power to easily best a normal Super Saiyan - something he didn't even account for.[[note]]It's largely implied that it's the power generators that they run on that made them so powerful, so that was more dumb luck.[[/note]] On top of that, at least #16 and #18 (and perhaps even #17) have self-detonators - #16 in particular, felt his was powerful enough to insta-kill even (Cell Games era) Goku despite his power being close to Perfect Cell.
** And as for Cell, his base form is a stupidly overpowered amalgamation of many of the universe's greatest fighters, including Goku himself. Furthermore, 17 and 18 -- two androids who were already ''far'' stronger then they had any reasonable need to be -- were designed as components to further power Cell up, resulting in a creature that could annihilate a ''solar system'' with little trouble. And all this to kill ''one man'' who cost Dr. Gero his job almost two decades ago. "Overkill" is an understatement.
** [[spoiler: He goes even further beyond with Android 21. He didn't think making his wife as powerful as Cell was enough, he had to create a way to make her even more powerful. So he created an automated system to gather even more DNA from battles for the next 10 years and threw in the cells of the most intelligent scientists in the world to make her a genius on top of that. [[ThingsManWasNotMeantToKnow He just couldn't account for Majin Buu]].]]
* TooDumbToLive: Kidnapping two '''rebellious teenagers''' and making them ''more powerful than you'' is already stupid enough. '''Repeatedly''' ''mouthing off'' at said '''''rebellious teenagers''''', whom, again, you made to be '''more powerful than you''', is like hanging a "kill me" sign on your own neck.
** Not running for it once 17 and 18 wake up, though he probably wouldn't have made it far. Instead, he stands there pissing them off even more, leading to his death. The most pathetic part for him is that if he had just let them wake up 16, 16 likely would have prevented them from killing him.
* VillainousBreakdown: Begins to have one when it becomes obvious he had no chance against the Z Fighters despite all of his calculations and then escalates as #17 and #18 turn on him.
* VillainousLegacy: Gero dies fairly early on, but his creations continue to plague the characters for the rest of the season, causing far more trouble than Gero could ever have hoped to.
* UglyGuyHotWife: [[spoiler: In ''Dragon Ball [=FighterZ=]'', it's revealed that Android 21 is his amnesiac widow, and his most powerful creation. She's [[StatuesqueStunner gorgeous]], he's... not. That being said, converting her into a bio-android likely kept her youthful, whereas he likely didn't bother converting himself into an android until he was quite elderly, and the man clearly cares more about practicality than aesthetics.]]
* UnderestimatingBadassery: He started monitoring Goku and his friends not long after the defeat of the Red Ribbon Army, gathering data on his powers and calculating a pattern for his increases in strength. Research was abandoned before they left for Namek, as Gero felt he could accurately gauge how strong they would be upon returning and set the power of himself and 19 above that. He was thus unprepared for two Super Saiyans and a fused Namekian. Stealing fortune from the rest of the world, though, Dr. Gero was ''also'' a big believer in [[ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill no kill like overkill]] and used technology for 17 and 18 which set them well above even his own parameters.
* UndignifiedDeath: Stepped on by his own creation.
* UnintentionalBackupPlan: If you consider that Dr. Gero's final creation, Cell, eventually succeeds in killing Goku, exactly as Gero had planned for the androids, and was the closest any of his creations came to his implied dream for the total genocide of humanity.
* UnskilledButStrong: He is never shown using any advanced fighting techniques or styles whatsoever. Instead he relies heavily on his power and using sneak attacks to grab his target so he can drain their energy to become stronger. Once his power fails him, he's completely helpless and can only run to get backup.
* VillainousBreakdown: He starts to lose his composure after Vegeta destroys 19. It goes further downhill for him after Piccolo proves himself stronger than him and [[GodzillaThreshold he's forced to awaken 17 and 18]]. He utterly loses it once 17 takes his remote and crushes it.
* VillainousCheekbones: Standard for most elderly ''Dragon Ball'' characters.
* TheWorfEffect: He is stronger than Frieza whose power was so vast that it took a legendary warrior to defeat him. Android 20 gets easily beaten by Piccolo, [[TookALevelInBadass someone who was once weaker than Frieza's third form]].

The final android created by Dr. Gero whose objective is to kill Goku. He almost does just that (with a tiny bit of help from [[WorfHadTheFlu Goku's heart condition]]), but is attacked by Vegeta before that can happen. Android 19 [[{{Pun}} just loses]] [[OffWithHisHead his head]] after Vegeta goes Super Saiyan.
* {{Acrofatic}}: Fast and agile despite his size.
* AnArmAndALeg: He gets his arms ripped off by Vegeta shortly before his destruction.
* ArtificialHuman: He is a fully mechanical android.
* AssholeVictim: Considering the fact that he ruthlessly beat on Goku and started to suck the life out of him while Goku was helpless and incapacitated from the heart virus, it's more or less impossible to feel any pity for him when Vegeta blows him to smithereens.
* BrainInAJar: Just like Gero, he has a glass dome covering his brain concealed by a hat, only his brain is purely electromechanical in nature.
* ButtMonkey: His return in ''GT'' is just to pay homage to the way he got axed the first time around- he got blown up and had nothing left but his broken head clattering from the wreckage and rolling to a stop rather pitifully. ''[[KickTheDog Off-screen.]]'' Yep- he wasn't even worth the trouble of another big death scene and was reduced to a quick gag.
* CurbStompBattle:
** He gets his ass handed to him completely and utterly by Super Saiyan Vegeta.
** Before then, Goku dominated him even as his strength was being drained by the heart virus. Once Goku wasted a massive amount of energy using a Kamehameha that 19 greedily absorbed, the table turned and Goku gets the crap beat out of him.
* {{Determinator}}: Absolutely refuses to let go of Vegeta once he manages to start absorbing his energy. Vegeta, for his part, commends him for this right before ripping his arms clean off of his body.
* DirtyCoward: He ''gleefully'' beats a sick Goku senseless and drains his energy... but when he gets his ass handed to him by the perfectly healthy Vegeta, he flips out and tries to run for his life.
* TheDragon: The straightest example in the Android saga, being Android 20's right hand and only creation besides Cell who doesn't defy him in some way.
* EnergyAbsorption: Like Android 20. Doesn't help him against Vegeta.
* EvilAlbino: As the picture shows, he has pale, white skin.
* FatBastard: There's a very good reason Gero designed to him to look like that... [[ItAmusedMe it amused him.]]
* FlatCharacter: He has no real personality. He only exists to be killed by Vegeta.
* {{Gonk}}: Barely looks human.
* {{Jobber}}: Basically existed so Vegeta would have something to beat up on when he first became a Super Saiyan.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: When Goku is incapacitated by his heart virus in the midst of their fight, 19 quickly beats him down and starts sucking the life out of him... which Vegeta quickly puts a stop to.
* KillerRobot: Created to kill Goku. Almost success thanks to Goku catching his heart virus.
* OffWithHisHead: Like Guldo, this was caused by Vegeta, but unlike Guldo, Vegeta blew him up first.
* OutsideContextProblem: Like the other androids, his energy can't be sensed by the Earth's fighters. He can also absorb energy through his hand like Android 20. Despite this, he's killed quickly once Vegeta removes his hands.
* RoboSpeak: In the Funimation dub.
* RunningGag: Each time he gets killed, all that remains is his head, with the cranium blown out, his eyes all derpy, and his mouth hanging open.
* {{Sadist}}: Takes great delight in draining his victims and beating them senseless, giggling like a crazed child while he does so. You can also see the joy on his face as he sucks the life out of Goku.
* SmugSnake: He acts like a big shot, and only has the upper hand against Goku because of the heart virus. As soon as Vegeta kicks his ass and rips his arms off, he tries to make a break for it.
* TheStoic: When he's first seen, he didn't smile and had a largely blanked expression. Even when Goku was beating on him, he showed no real emotion. He did laugh maniacally after absorbing Goku's Kamehameha and started to beat him up and sucked his energy. His cold demeanor completely shatters after Vegeta tears him up, leaving him quivering in fear.
* UndignifiedDeath: Loses his composure when Vegeta kicks his ass, and finally tries to run for his life after Vegeta tears his hands off.
* UnskilledButStrong: Just like Android 20, he is shown using no fighting style or techniques. When Goku went Super Saiyan, 19 kept bull charging and didn't even try to evade or block Goku's attacks. Instead, he relies on his high endurance and his power absorption to get ahead. The moment he loses his ability to drain energy, he becomes completely defenseless and tries to run.
* VillainousBreakdown: Both figuratively and literally - after realizing that he has no chance against Vegeta, he ends up running away from him screaming his head off.
* YourHeadAsplode: Inverted -- 19's head is the only part of his body that ''doesn't'' end up exploding from Vegeta's Big Bang Attack.

Cell's offspring. They are asexually produced from Cell's tail, through cellular mitosis. According to Cell himself, each Cell Junior has his power and abilities.
* BossInMookClothing: Despite being basically fodder, they are as strong as Super Saiyan Vegeta and Trunks.
* BloodKnight: They love to fight and kill as much as their father.
* ColdBloodedTorture: They brutally beat the Z warriors in order to provoke Gohan.
* DirtyCoward: One of them threatens to slit Krillin's throat in an attempt to get Gohan to back off.
* EnfantTerrible: Created with the sole purpose of torturing the Z-Fighters to force Gohan to reveal his hidden power.
* GigglingVillain: They have no dialog. They only laugh and giggle, when they're not screaming in terror and pain after Gohan is finished with them.
* GlassCannon: Despite being as powerful as Cell, they're nowhere near as durable, not even regenerating from wounds that Cell had previously been shown shrugging off. Of course, it was ''Gohan'' who was hitting them, so they were likely just outclassed.
* MadeofExplodium: in the anime, they explode when Gohan kills them.
* TheHyena: Their only dialog is to laugh and giggle when they're not screaming in terror and pain after Gohan is finished with them.
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: After Gohan takes down all but one of them, the remaining Cell Jr tries (and fails) to run away.
* TheWorfEffect: To the Z Fighters, they're unstoppable killing machines. To Super Saiyan 2 Gohan, they're mere pests.

[[folder: Present Cell]]
!!Present Cell (現在のセル, ''Genzai no Seru'')

The main timeline counterpart of Cell. He ends up being destroyed by Future Trunks and Krillin.
!!Besides tropes featured by [[Characters/DragonBallCell Cell]], Present Cell features examples of:
* AdaptationalBadass: In the ''Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors'' game, he is able to become perfect from birth since Gero adjusted him to not need to absorb the Androids.
* {{Irony}}: Despite being created to kill Goku, and being from the same timeline as him, both Cell, Present Cell and Future Cell had the least personal relationship with him out of all the main villains in the series. This is even more ironic for Present Cell, as although the Cell from Cell's timeline who appeared in the main timeline at least did fight Goku and indirectly did manage to carry out his mission to kill Goku, Present Cell never even met Goku.
* YouCantThwartStageOne: Averted; Future Trunks and Krillin killed him before Present Cell could awaken.

!!!'''Future Trunks' Timeline'''

[[folder:Future Android 17 and Future Android 18]]
!!Future Android 17 and Future Android 18

Two androids created by Dr. Gero to kill Goku. They end up being activated prematurely, then turn on their creator and destroy him. They're actually {{cyborg}}s, as it's stated a few times that they were originally human teenage [[TheRunaway runaways]] kidnapped and experimented on by the old man.

In the [[BadFuture Future Timeline]], they go on a rampage across the Earth, causing destruction and chaos. Even the Z-Fighters end up dead at their hands, leaving Future Trunks the only one capable of stopping them. For this reason, they are very much different than the ones who appeared in the main timeline, who, while initially wanting to kill Goku, only did so because of boredom, before soon abandoning those plans and becoming allies of the Z-Fighters. As such, these can be considered as very different characters.

17's real name is Lapis and 18's is Lazuli as revealed by WordOfGod.

For any information about their main timeline counterparts, see Characters/DragonBallAndroids17And18.
!!Besides tropes already featured by the main timeline Androids 17 and 18, the Future Androids 17 and 18 feature examples of:
* AlternateSelf: They're the alternate selves of the main timeline Androids 17 and 18 who, for unknown reasons, were AxCrazy instead of just bored rebels and went on a killing spree on Earth.
* AntiClimax: The threat of these androids gets quickly diminished, even compared to their ''present day'' counterparts, but ''especially'' in comparison to Cell. By the time the Trunks we know returns to his time, he's many, ''many'' times stronger than they are and defeats them without even breaking a sweat. That said, their defeat is [[KickTheSonOfABitch extremely cathartic]] because you get to see done to them what they'd done to every other person in their time.
* ArchEnemy: They serve as this to Future Trunks. They completely destroyed his world and killed most of his friends and family. Future Trunks had dedicated his entire life to bringing them down, which eventually led to traveling back in time as a last resort. However they see him as just someone to toy with.
* AxCrazy: Compared to the androids from the main timeline, they took great enjoyment from murder and wanton destruction. They were also far less mentally stable than their counterparts. One example of this is Android 18's reaction to being struck by Future Trunks once he returned to his timeline at the end of the Cell Saga. The main timeline's Android 18 did not lose her composure even when she was being hit by Vegeta or later on by Mighty Mask, and even when she fought Cell, who was vastly more powerful than her, she appeared to be more scared than angry and nevertheless managed to remain fairly rational given the circumstances. This 18, on the other hand, became very enraged and attacked Future Trunks while at the same time vocalizing all the hatred she felt for him.
* BigBadDuumvirate: They work together as the main threats to Future Trunks' world.
* DeaderThanDead: After [[spoiler:Future Zen'o destroyed the future timeline]], everything was wiped out including the afterlife. That means their very souls were destroyed, erased from all existence. [[spoiler:However, both Trunks and Mai ended up traveling back to the time before Shin is about to be killed by Dabura, one where Beerus still lives that allowed him to preemptively deal with Zamasu. So, although they're still dead, since the events of Android Saga still happen, they still exist.]]
* TheDreaded: In Trunks' timeline, they reduced the human populations to tens of thousands, and forced many of them underground.
* FantasticRacism: Future Androids 17 and 18 despise anyone who isn't them. This is justified since Dr. Gero specially programmed them to hate humans to make them more effective killers.
* {{Foil}}:
** They are this to the homegrown Saiyans. Those two share their sadistic {{jerkass}} tendencies and, Eighteen's small dose of standards aside, complete disregard for life outside their own kind. However, the Saiyans lived in a controlled galactic empire that cultivated and harnessed this into a most efficient form of planet plundering. The future twins, on the other hand, got that way through little more than hatred both personal and programmed, their reach is limited to Earth, they leave a few people (and shreds of civilization) alive but slowly rotting in fear and suffering for over two decades, and let's face it--they are entirely '''out''' of control.
** They're also this to their main timeline versions. While the latter merely create mayhem for their entertainment and have consciences, these ones are sociopaths whose idea of fun is mass murder. The twin androids are the only characters whose personalities are intrinsically different in the two timelines for unclear reasons (for Trunks, the differences are obviously due to how he was raised).
* EvilIsNotAToy: [[PlayingWithATrope Played with]]. They decided to hunt down and murder humans for fun.
* FreudianExcuse: In the special, it's implied that their sociopathic tendencies were the direct result of Future Gero's plans for world domination, having apparently programmed them to have a hatred of humanity so he could then manipulate them into aiding him in conquering the planet. In comparison, their main timeline counterparts are much more mellow and become kindhearted people after Cell dies. Main timeline 17 and 18's dialogue suggests that it became much harder for them to feel emotion after becoming androids, which may explain why the Future versions were so desperate for thrills.
* HeroKiller: Future Androids 17 and 18 killed all the Z-Fighters of their timeline except for Future Trunks and Future Yajirobe.
* {{Irony}}: They enjoyed overwhelming, terrorizing, and killing humans. For ''decades''. Trunks did the same thing to them before killing them when he returned to the future.
* KarmaHoudiniWarranty: Because of the nature of ''History of Trunks'', the future androids are never made to pay for their crimes. When Trunks does try to avenge Gohan's death, he is nearly killed. It will be another three years after the special ends before the androids get their just desserts.
* KarmicDeath: The Androids cruelly murdered Future Gohan, and then eventually get slaughtered by his protege, who gained the ability to turn Super Saiyan in the wake of his mentor's death.
* MookHorrorShow: The two future Androids are subjected to this by Future Trunks when he gets back. Future Trunks explicitly stated that [[PayEvilUntoEvil he's dishing out to them exactly that they did to Future Gohan before they killed him]] (not to mention what they've done to pretty much everybody else for going on 20 years), making it poetic justice.
* PostFinalBoss: Future 17 and Future 18 serve as this for the Android Saga alongside Future Cell. Future Trunks gets an episode to himself to clean up the last loose ends in his timeline, starting with them.
* PsychopathicManchild: Future 17 and Future 18 take type B of this to its darkest logical extreme, going on random mass murdering sprees over the course of 20 years and ''actually keeping score of the kills''.
-->'''Furute Android 17:''' ''[while running over humans in a stolen hovercar]'' Oh yeah! We're talking major points here!
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Once Future Trunks becomes stronger in the past and returns to his own time he pulls a CurbStompBattle on the two of them while chewing them out on how much they've made the world suffer and killed all his friends, and now they feel just like how everyone else in the world does, completely powerless and afraid.
-->'''Future Trunks:''' You hate the fact that you’re powerless to stop me, that you’re completely outmatched. Well imagine feeling the way you feel now all the time like the people of this planet do. Fools! How do you think my master Gohan felt when you ganged up on him in the rain and he had no way out? Well now it’s your turn, I hope you enjoy it!
* {{Sadist}}: They spent decades slowly torturing the people of Earth with running them over with cars, shooting them while they're running, and 18 promising to spare them only for 17 to kill them anyway (with 18 only briefly upset every time). That's not even getting started on how they treated beating Future Gohan and Trunks to near death like it is a game.
* TeensAreMonsters: They ruthlessly murder people for their own pleasure and killed all the Z-Fighters leaving only Trunks the sole survivor.
* VictoryIsBoring: Implied to be the reason why they dragged out their fights with Future Gohan as long as they did. In fact, when Trunks returns from the past and Future 18 decides to kill him to blow off steam, Future 17 points out to Future 18 that they'll be throwing away weeks worth of fun if she does; Future 18 doesn't care.

!!Besides tropes already featured by the main timeline Android 17, Future Android 17 features examples of:
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Future 17 reacts with a mix of horror and anger when Future Trunks returns and easily kills Future 18 right before his very eyes. He doesn't even run away — if anything, he's even ''more'' determined to kill him despite how outclassed he is.
* {{Jerkass}}: Both Androids of the future are callous, selfish bastards, but Future Android 17's antics even manage to upset Future Android 18. For example, Future Android 18 decided to spare the life of a shop owner because he was nice to her, but even after hearing that, Future Android 17 killed the shop owner by blowing up his store. Later, Future Android 18 is shown to be very upset because Future Android 17 killed a boy she liked. Android 18 even says that Android 17 goes out of his way to destroy everything she likes. The Future Android 17 also appears to be considerably more bloodthirsty than Future Android 18, as while Android 18 will eventually grow bored of all the destruction the two of them are always causing, Android 17 can't seem to have enough of it.
* MoralMyopia: The Future 17 of the BadFuture furiously calls Trunks out after the latter kills the Future 18, despite the fact that both Future 17 and Future 18 had spent ''twenty years'' rampaging across the Earth killing whoever and whenever they wanted ForTheEvulz. * BerserkButton: As Future Trunks found out the hard way, Future Android 18 does ''not'' react well to having her hair cut - it doesn't grow back.
* DarkActionGirl: Future 18 is a strong fighter and, along with her brother, killed nearly all of the Z Fighters.
* DesignatedGirlFight: Averted, since Future Android 18 fought only against males (Future Gohan, Future Trunks).
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Although heavily implied to be a ruthless android who treats killing humans as some sort of game, it is implied that she hated Future Android 17's decision to murder a boy that she thought was "cute".[[note]]This can also be a case of AdaptationalNiceGuy, as this comes from the English dub; in the original Japanese and other dubs, she is angry about losing a video game.[[/note]] Also, she scolds him for killing a clothing salesperson she had spared, saying it made her look dishonest.
* NotSoStoic: While she's already way more livid than her main timeline counterpart, Future 18 starts [[VillainousBreakdown freaking out]] when Future Trunks reappears and starts to show how outclassed they are.
* WouldntHitAGirl: Future Android 18 asks Future Trunks if he'd "really hit a lady" while fighting him, but it's obvious she's just mocking him.

* DeaderThanDead: After [[spoiler:Future Zen'o destroyed the future timeline]], everything was wiped out including the afterlife. That meant his very soul was destroyed, erased from all of existence. [[spoiler:However, both Trunks and Mai ended up traveling back to the time before Shin is about to be killed by Dabura, one where Beerus still lives that allowed him to preemptively deal with Zamasu. So, although he is still dead, since the events of Android Saga still happen, he still exists.]]
* DidntSeeThatComing: He is caught flatfooted by the fact Future Trunks killed Future 17 and 18.
* {{Irony}}: Despite being created to kill Goku, both Cell and Future Cell had the least personal relationship with him out of all the main villains in the series. This is even more ironic for Future Cell, as although the Cell who appeared in the main timeline at least did fight Goku and indirectly did manage to carry out his mission to kill Goku, Future Cell never even met Goku, who had already died of the heart virus.
* PostFinalBoss: Future Cell serves as this for the Android Saga alongside Future Androids 17 and 18, but he's leagues behind his primary self and he only exists for Trunks to show off how far he's come and clean up some loose ends.
* WalkingSpoiler: Unlike the other Future characters, that there was a Future Cell is a big plot twist not revealed until the very end of the Android saga. He wasn't even hinted at until Future Trunks put two and two together after killing the Future Androids 17 and 18 and realized that there must be a Future Cell too, since each timeline had their own version of Cell (the main timeline has Present Cell, Future Trunks' timeline has Future Cell, and Cell's timeline has the Cell who was the BigBad of the Cell Saga). Of course the twist [[ItWasHisSled isn't much of a secret any more.]]
* YouCantThwartStageOne: Averted; Future Trunks kills Future Androids 17 and 18 before Future Cell could absorb them. From then on, he's pretty much screwed.

A small alien wizard who is trying to take over the world using his doppelganger father Bibidi's living weapon Majin Buu. It works for a while, but when he gets too mouthy, it backfires royally.
* AdaptationalBadass: In the manga, Piccolo takes him down with no effort. In the anime, Babidi's not a true threat to Piccolo but does make him put a little effort into taking him down.
* AliensAreBastards: He's a sadist with a childish obsession with destruction.
* ArcVillain: Despite not lasting very long, he's the one who awakened Majin Buu and sent him to terrorize the Earth.
* AsLongAsThereIsEvil: As long as somebody has evil in their heart, Babidi can take control of them.
* AssholeVictim: He's easily the ''least'' sympathetic of Buu's victims unless you count Van Zant.
* AxCrazy: He is a gleeful sadist that takes joy in actively harming others.
* BadBoss: His EstablishingCharacterMoment is having Spopovich and Yamu killed on the spot after they give him Gohan's stolen Ki, with the Supreme Kai outright saying that Babidi ''always'' kills his minions when [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness he doesn't need them anymore]]. This also kills him in the end regarding his treatment of Majin Buu, who after realizing he doesn't ''have'' to take his shit, smashes his head apart like a watermelon.
* BigBadWannabe: In spite of his dark magic powers, formidable enough that the Supreme Kai treads lightly against him, physically he's really no match for any of the Z Fighters or even a ''normal human girl'' (one tossed him around like it was nothing after Fat Buu ate everything at her bakery and he didn't want to pay for it) and is completely reliant on the likes of Dabura and Majin Buu to do all the fighting for him.
* {{Brainwashing}}: How he recruits his minions.
* BullyingADragon: Unlike his father who favored the carrot (cake), Babidi preferred to use the stick in controlling Buu. Whenever Buu showed some disobedience, Babidi would threaten to reseal him. This continued until Goku scolds Buu for letting such a weak coward order him around and Babidi shortly found himself lacking a head.
* CombatCommentator: In the anime, he watches the fight with Kid Buu in Hell, and unlike all of the other villains, he wants Goku to win because Buu killed him.
-->'''Babidi''': Do it, Goku! Beat the Buu!
* DeadlineNews: Theatrically declares the beginning of his genocidal rampage through a global telepathic broadcast. Keeps giving updates to the increasingly-terrified populace as he makes progress, only to have his last broadcast show everyone Goku's Super Saiyan 3 transformation followed by Buu and Goku's first fight, and then his own death.
* DeconstructedCharacterArchetype: Babidi shows why being a BadBoss who is prone to YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness is a detriment in the long run. He ruthlessly kills Spopovich and Yamu when they ''exceeded'' his expectations and allowed Buu to eat his loyal [[TheDragon Dragon]] Dabura, despite his warnings that Buu would turn on him and begs him to reseal him. When Buu did turn against him, [[LaserGuidedKarma he had no one left to protect him]].
* DidYouJustFlipOffCthulhu: Despite Goku fighting evenly with Majin Buu (who up to this point had no equal), Babidi still felt brave enough to flip off Goku when he says that Buu was far too talented of a fighter to be controlled by someone like Babidi. In the Japanese text, he flips off Goku when he says that he will ask Yemma to really torture him in Hell.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: He does this a grand total of [[RuleOfThree three times]]:
** First, he tries to keep Piccolo from killing him by pointing out without someone to seal Majin Buu away, he'll destroy the world. Piccolo points out that's what Babidi intends to do anyway, so the end result would be no different, and bisects him.
** Babidi gets Buu to heal him, and threatens him into compliance, with the threat of sealing him away. When Goku challenges them, he tries to repeat the threat only for Buu to point out that if he does, Goku would kill Babidi easily. Luckily for him, Buu is willing to fight Goku anyway.
** The last time proves fatal, as trying to control Majin Buu through the fear of a spell falls apart when Buu simply crushes his windpipe, rendering him unable to speak, and kills him.
* DirtyCoward: Justified since he's weaker than most of the villains at this point, and he relies more on his minions since he knows he's done once one gets him. Goku even outright calls Babidi a "cowardly worm" while criticizing Buu for letting Babidi boss him around.
* EnemyMine: Sort of. He doesn't directly aid Goku in regards to defeating Kid Buu, but he cheers him on solely because he wants Buu dead as revenge for killing him in the first place.
* EpicFail: During Vegeta's fight with Pui Pui, Babidi transforms the environment into that of Pui Pui's home planet of Zoon, which has gravity 10 times that of Earth, in order to give Pui Pui an advantage. It backfires completely, because not only does Vegeta regularly train in ''450 times'' Earth's gravity, but his own home planet of Vegeta had gravity equal to that of Zoon anyway.
-->'''Vegeta''': Maybe... if your planet had five hundred times Earth's gravity, you'd have an advantage, but ten? I don't even ''feel'' it!
* EvilIsNotAToy: With some encouragement from Goku, Majin Buu eventually turns on Babidi and kills him.
* EvilSorcerer: The only major one in ''Dragon Ball''.
* FauxAffablyEvil: Acts dignified and polite when he's in control. The moment things go wrong, he turns into a {{Spoiled Brat}}, throwing tantrums and whining. He's also extremely sadistic and loves to torture people.
* GenreBlindness: It never occurred to him that Buu could betray him despite Dabura's warning to him.
* HateSink: Like Raditz, Babidi seems to be made to be as unlikable as possible and thus all the more satisfying [[AssholeVictim when Majin Buu kills him]]. He's a sadistic, utterly callous villain who's also [[StupidEvil an idiotic]] DirtyCoward, in stark contrast to the much more likable Majin Buu and Dabura. He's up there with Frieza in being utterly despicable without even the excuse of being born evil, and as horrible as Frieza was even he was competent and had an EvilIsCool, while Babidi is just a BigBadWannabe.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: If Buu turning on him wasn't enough, in ''Dragon Ball Heroes'', he can be absorbed by Kid Buu.
* ImmortalImmaturity: He's a centuries-old wizard, but acts like a SpoiledBrat.
* {{Irony}}: In the anime, he actively cheers Goku and Vegeta on from Hell during the fight with Kid Buu, wanting Buu to die for betraying and killing him, but doesn't notice (or seem to care) that the fat Majin Buu, the one who actually killed him, lives on.
* KarmicDeath: Since Majin Buu's release from his ensealment, Babidi threatened Buu with sealing Buu back up if he doesn't submit to him and/or obey his command, and was verbally abusive. After Babidi makes the mistake of telling off Buu for not killing Goku when he had the chance, Buu decides that he has had enough, and after tricking Babidi into coming closer, he strangles Babidi so that he can't utter the incantation that would seal him away, and then punches his head off in a bloody mist. To add an extra heap of karma on top, Babidi spent most of the arc [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness killing his minions once he had no more use for them]], leaving nobody around to defend him once Buu turns on him. And Buu kills him for the same reason.
* KickTheDog:
** Killing Spopovich and Yamu even after they followed his orders. And afterwards, he ''killed a random bystander'' just for not knowing where Goten, Trunks, or Piccolo are.
** Him showing the entire world Buu turning entire cities into candy and chocolate before eating them alive. He then reminds everyone that he will have the Earth destroyed in five days if Trunks, Piccolo, and Goten don't reveal themselves. And that random bystander he murdered, he made his head explode from the inside out and broadcasted it.
* KickTheSonOfABitch: Not a single damn was given once Buu killed him, even though Buu went completely on a rampage without anyone to control him.
** Also, to many fans, there was no sympathy given to Spopovich when Babidi killed him extremely graphically, given [[KickTheDog what Spopovich had done to Videl.]]
* LackOfEmpathy: Common ''Dragon Ball'' villain trait.
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness After he ruthlessly disposed of anyone who wasn't of use to him]], Buu kills him because he no longer needs Babidi. Even better, since Babidi allowed Buu to kill his most loyal servant, there was no one who would have gone out of their way to save him.
* LogicalWeakness: Buu is able to prevent Babidi from saying the spell to seal him back up by simply [[NeckLift strangling him]] so he can't talk.
* MoralMyopia: He wants to kill the Supreme Kai because he killed his father to stop Majin Buu's rampage. Babidi's father caused the death of millions if not billions by unleashing Buu, including all of the Supreme Kais except one. Babidi also regularly murders others, including his own men, without care.
* MoreThanMindControl: The way Babidi's control spell works is to seek the evil within a person's heart and manipulate it into making a person want to serve them. It ''is'' mind control, but it relies on the victim's willingness to be enslaved and so can be overridden with sufficiently strong willpower or emotion. (Vegeta's absurdly strong sense of {{Pride}} allows him to exert his own will and ignore Babidi's orders, for example.)
* NonActionBigBad [[BigBadWannabe Wannabe]]: Babidi takes this to a ridiculous level, relying on taking control of others and making them fight in his place while screaming orders at them. Even in ''[[VideoGame/DragonBallZBudokaiTenkaichi Budokai Tenkaichi 3]]'', his attacks are mostly summoning others to do his dirty work.
* OhCrap: After Piccolo points out that he DidntThinkThisThrough, and after he mouths off one too many times to Buu.
* PunnyName[=/=]ShoutOut: [[Disney/{{Cinderella}} Bibidi, Babidi, and Buu.]]
* PsychopathicManchild: Despite being a centuries-old wizard, he acts like a spoiled child. He is prone to throwing tantrums, whining, and bullying others when things don't go his way. He also treats hurting and killing people like some kind of game, laughing in delight when Buu ate entire cities or when his former loyal servant Dabura was beaten senseless and devoured.
* {{Sadist}}: Just like his "father", he loves destruction and killing as much as they do.
* SecretIdentityApathy: After Buu heals him, his immediate priority is to hunt down Goten, Trunks, and Piccolo. Since he doesn't know their names, he gives a general description to the people of Earth while demanding they show themselves. One man recognizes the description and tells Babidi their names... and Babidi promptly [[ShootTheMessenger kills him]], stating he couldn't care less what their names are.
* SmallAnnoyingCreature: A villainous example, especially since he needs his minions to back him up.
* SmugSnake: Ohh boy, is he ever. Not helped at all by his status as a smarmy SquishyWizard [[NonActionBigBad Non-Action]] [[BigBadWannabe Big Bad Wannabe]] in a series full of [[BloodKnight Blood Knights]].
* SpoiledBrat: Goes hand and hand with him being a PsychopathicManchild. He rants and yells when things don't go his way and refuses to consider that he can be wrong. This really stands out since he's one of oldest characters introduced in the series.
* SquishyWizard: Only villainous example of this series. His magic is very powerful. He can kill weaker people from far distances, teleport others to different planets, and his curse allows him to control monsters like Dabura if they have any evil in their hearts. He is also a weakling who is nearly killed by Piccolo. His only close combat defense is a barrier that can be shattered if enough force is applied and a type of gel that can cause a person to explode, which can be blown off.
* StupidEvil: Babidi has this horrible habit of [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness killing anyone he thinks he doesn't need anymore]]. This leads to him killing Spopovich and Yamu when they succeeded on their mission to collect energy. When he learns that they managed to gather enough energy to fill Majin Buu up by half, he has no clue how they did it since he killed them. He also gleefully allows Buu to fight and eat Dabura when he tries to warn him that Buu wouldn't remain loyal and will eventually kill him. To top it all off, [[BullyingADragon he constantly demeans and threatens to reseal Buu]], despite having no other protection since he no longer has Dabura around. [[LaserGuidedKarma This ends with him having his head crushed by Buu]].
* [[TakeOverTheWorld Take Over The Universe]]: Initially, he had plans for universal domination after Majin Buu was revived, but Vegeta blew up his spaceship. So he settled for terrorizing Earth instead. Probably should have forced them to build a new spaceship instead.
* TheSociopath: Low-functioning example. [[LackOfEmpathy He doesn't care about anyone else]], [[{{Sadist}} loves the pains he inflicts]] [[BadBoss and throws his minions under the bus]] [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness when he doesn't need them.]] He's also very impatient and doesn't think things through, which leads to his demise.
* ThisCannotBe: His reaction when Majin Vegeta actively resists his commands in favor of going after Goku: according to Babidi, this is the first time any of his brainwashed slaves have ''ever'' defied him.
-->'''Babidi''': How can the possessed say no to the possessor?!
* ThirteenIsUnlucky: Even more meta; the Babidi Saga is the thirteenth saga of ''Dragon Ball Z''.
* TimeAbyss: At least five million years old, as his father was killed then.
* TooDumbToLive:
** See BullyingADragon.
** Dabura, who has been nothing but loyal to Babidi, warns him that Buu is uncontrollable and that the demon will eventually kill him. Instead of even considering Dabura's warning, Babidi throws a tantrum, yelling that he didn't need Dabura anymore since he had Buu. By the time Buu turns on him, [[LaserGuidedKarma Babidi had absolutely no one who would save him]].
* UnderestimatingBadassery: Like the Supreme Kai, he badly underestimated the Saiyans. If Vegeta didn't feel the need to sell his soul to beat Goku, Babidi's entire plan would have been ruined. He also keeps underestimating his enemies, like thinking Piccolo wasn't strong enough to break his barrier or that Super Saiyan 3 Goku couldn't kill Majin Buu. Amazingly, he even underestimates Buu, [[TooDumbToLive thinking that he could keep the Majin under control with threats and brute force]].
* UngratefulBastard: Towards his loyal right-hand man Dabura. It backfires when Buu finally realizes (working off a hint from Goku) that he doesn't actually have to take it... The Z Fighters and his two [[TheDragon Dragons]] were all stronger than he was, so first Dabura, then Buu, basically served as his bodyguards.
* VillainsWantMercy: When Piccolo has him cornered, Babidi begs for his life, pointing out that without him, Majin Buu will be completely uncontrollable and destroy the Earth. Piccolo states that it's no different than what Babidi plans to do anyway, and he and the Z Fighters ''will'' stop Buu before [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe slicing Babidi in half]].
* WeHaveReserves: As long as he succeeds at awakening Majin Buu, ''everyone'' is expendable.
* WeakButSkilled: PlayedWith. Supreme Kai stated that while Babidi is physically weak his magical powers were so great that it may take all of the Z Fighters to defeat him. However, it isn't Babidi's magic in of itself that are dangerous, but his ability to enslave powerful servants who have even a hint of evil within them and uses them as his bodyguards like Dabura. His spell also makes those he posses stronger by bringing out their inner evil. By himself, however, Babidi is basically helpless outside of a few defense spells that can kill weaker people like Spopovich, and [[CurbStompBattle is nearly killed]] by Piccolo who was in full PapaWolf mood since he believed Gohan was killed by Buu at Babidi's orders.
* WizardsFromOuterSpace: He's an alien wizard.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: His philosophy, since the only ally he considers important at all is Majin Buu. His putting all of his eggs in the strongest basket he has at the time and discarding ones he's already used comes back to bite him several times, and ultimately he falls victim to this trope as well.
* YourHeadAsplode: Buu kills him by punching him in the face so hard that his head explodes.

The King of the Demon Realm and Babidi's right-hand man. He assists in his plans for some time, until Babidi abandons him in favor of Buu. He tries to fight Buu to prove his worth but winds up killed as a result. If that wasn't bad enough, [[CoolAndUnusualPunishment King Yemma sends him to Heaven because since he is a demon, Hell wouldn't be a suitable punishment for him.]]
* ActionDad: It's revealed he has a son in Akira Toriyama's one-shot manga, ''Manga/SandLand'' (set in years before Dabura is turned into a Majin), named Beelzebub. Or maybe not, and is just a ReusedCharacterDesign.
* AdaptationalBadass: In the manga, Dabura's skills and abilities are extremely lacking in comparison to his anime counterpart. He mostly uses sneak attacks and in fact, he never once throws a single physical punch in the entire manga. He's unable to overpower a rusty SSJ Gohan and is quickly dealt with by Buu before he can even throw a single attack. The anime, however, amps him up, allowing him to hold his own against Gohan and even standing up to Buu for quite some time.
* AffablyEvil: Regal and gentlemanly, the picture of evil nobility.
* AlasPoorVillain: Even if he was the Demon King, he got a raw deal by being disposed of by Babidi and actually eaten by Buu.
* BigRedDevil: Missing wings and tail notwithstanding.
* CardCarryingVillain: It's to the point where a couple of his attacks are even called Evil Flame and Hate Ray Cannon. Subverted after his HeelFaceTurn though.
* CassandraTruth: He warns Babidi that Buu ''will'' eventually turn on him and he should seal him away before it's too late. Babidi blows him off and eventually does meet his end at Buu's hands.
* [[CoolBigSis Cool Big Bro]]: To Towa in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse'', which is her entire motivation for her actions.

** Mere minutes after being introduced he ''obliterated'' Kibito, turned Krillin and Piccolo into stone statues and fended off both Goku and Vegeta. After that, he dominated Gohan.
** He got on the receiving end of one of these after Buu was awakening, having his eyes gouged and then being turned into a cookie and eaten.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Postmortem, when he pulls a HeelFaceTurn in the afterlife. In fact, given his benevolent nature in ''Sand Land'', this may simply be a return to type.
* DragonInChief: Is much more of a threat than Babidi. It was actually his plan to turn Vegeta evil that allowed Majin Buu to be revived.
* TheDreaded: The Supreme Kai and Kibito are horrified when they learned Babidi had charmed Dabura, the King of the Demon World. Goku and Vegeta, however, don't think much of him since he's only as strong as Perfect Cell, and by that point, they had surpassed him.
* EvilSoundsDeep: In both the dub and the Japanese version, he has a deep, very regal voice. Fitting for someone called the Demon King.
* EyeScream: Majin Buu ''punches'' his eyes out shortly after being freed from the seal. He didn't blind him though. It also qualifies under DisproportionateRetribution, seeing how he did this after Dabura called him a bumbling idiot.
* GeniusBruiser: He's almost as strong as Perfect Cell and is also extremely clever. During his fight with Gohan, he tricks Gohan several times and sees through all of Gohan's moves. It is also his plan to turn Vegeta that allows Majin Buu to be released. Once he sensed how powerful Buu is, he begs Babidi to seal him up before he turns on him.
* TheGhost: In the ''Xenoverse'' games. Dabura's younger sister, Towa, is a time-traveler screwing with history and wants revenge on Buu for her brother's death. Yet, so far, Dabura has not actually appeared in Story Mode, with him appearing in the final DLC of ''Xenoverse 2''. long after the story was finished.
* HeelFaceTurn: Anime only and it's more due to the environment he's now stuck in turning him into a LoveFreak, but Dabura does help the spirits of Chi-Chi, Bulma and Videl try to look for Gohan in the afterlife and comforts them when it doesn't seem they're able.
* HeroKiller: As was said above, he disintegrated Kibito, turned Piccolo and Krillin into stone (effectively killing them, though they [[NoOntologicalInertia do not stay in stone very long]]), and gives Gohan one heck of a fight.
* HyperspaceArsenal: He can pull out his sword and spear from seemingly nowhere.
* IronicHell: He was sent to ''Heaven'' for his crimes. King Yemma believed he'd enjoy it too much in Hell. He did eventually reform himself there in the anime, as Chi-Chi, Bulma, and Videl discovered, to the point he became a LoveFreak.
* LoveFreak: After going to Heaven, he basically becomes a big bulky hippie.
* NobleDemon:
** Whether or not the curse comes into the equation, Dabura remains admirably loyal to Babidi even as he is abandoned by the ungrateful mage, warning his master that Buu will ''not'' stay loyal and will be the death of him if not quickly sealed. He was, naturally, completely right.
** He also challenges Gohan, Goku, and Vegeta to attack him all at once, thinking he'd be too much for any one of them (an overestimation of his power, but it's the thought that counts). When Babidi asked him where he'd like the fight to take place, he requested a planet similar to Earth, so as not to give him an unfair advantage.
* NeverBringAKnifeToAFistFight: His mighty demonic sword is snapped in half by Gohan during their fight.
* OnlySaneMan: Unlike Babidi, he actually realizes Majin Buu will screw him over.
* PhysicalGod: More like Physical ''Devil'': Whereas Demon King Piccolo ''earned'' his title through a life of murder and terror, Dabura ''literally'' is the King of the Demon World itself. He is explicitly said to be around the same power level as Perfect Cell which means up to that point he was the second strongest villain or equal to the strongest one the Z Fighters had ever faced. Of course, Goku was stronger than Cell at this point by far. Dabura is about equal to Gohan, who ''defeated'' Cell, but Gohan's skills had explicitly degraded by that point.
* RealityEnsues: Like Vegeta's sacrifice not being enough to redeem him of his sins, Dabura becoming a LoveFreak, and helping the women search for Gohan in the afterlife, wasn't enough to [[RedemptionEarnsLife get him wished back to life as per the specifications of the wish in question]].
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: Inverted. He becomes good ''after'' dying, thanks to a combination of not being under Babidi's control anymore and being sent to Heaven.
* SatanicArchetype: He's stated to be the King of the Demon World, meaning that, for all intents and purposes, he's the Devil himself.
* SinisterScimitar: His large sword greatly resembles one.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The US manga writes his name as Dabura.
* ShootTheMedicFirst: Whether it was intentional or not, the first person Dābura attacked when Babidi ordered him to lure in the Dragon Team was [[CombatMedic Kibito]], the only person with healing capabilities with the heroes. Given the fact that he and Babidi are very familiar with the Kaiōshin and Kibito, it is likely Dābura's targeting of Kibito was intentional.
* StoryBreakerPower: Dabura's SuperSpit that can turn anyone hit by it into [[TakenForGranite stone]], regardless of power. If you're not expecting it or don't know about this ability, you're almost guaranteed to be a lawn statue. Once hit, you are for all intents and purposes dead and the spell can only be reversed with Dabura's death. Thankfully, spit tends to be slow, making it somewhat easy to dodge and if the spit hit clothing, they can be removed.
* SuperSpit: His spit can turn anything into stone.
* TakenForGranite: His spit can turn anything into stone.
* ThemeNaming: Just as Bibidi, Babidi and Buu got their names from a magical incantation, Dabura's is derived from "abracadabra" (while also sounding similar to "abura", Japanese for "oil").
* UnderestimatingBadassery:
** Upon Buu's awakening, he thought the reviving spell was a failure since Buu acted like a little kid and not the terror of the universe he heard about. He outright called Buu a bumbling idiot and mused how Buu doesn't understand him. That is before Buu punches him in the eyes and knocks him into a cliff, critically wounding him. After that, he tries to kill Buu, recognizing that a demon of that power wouldn't stay loyal to Babidi.
** He goes back and forward with the Saiyans. Although he recognizes their power, he thinks he can easily beat them and expected Pui Pui and Yakon to make quick work of them. When they failed, he dismisses them for being careless. Fighting a rusty Gohan only increased his assumption that the Saiyans are beings he can easily handle, never recognizing that Goku and Vegeta are much stronger than him.
* UndyingLoyalty: Curse or not, he is by far the most loyal minion on Babidi's side. He goes as far as to fight Buu, trying to save Babidi from the demon's eventual betrayal. Babidi, on the other hand, sees Dabura as nothing more than a tool that has outlived its usefulness.
* WorfEffect: He's about equal to Perfect Cell, can use magic, and is able to fight back a rusty Gohan. Buu easily beats him up and turns him into a cookie before eating him.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: He got this from Babidi despite all his loyal service and being the one who came up with the plan to awaken Buu. Talk about UngratefulBastard.

Babidi's alien minion from the planet Zoon. Tasked to fight the Z-Fighters so Babidi can resurrect Majin Buu, Pui Pui faces Vegeta. Boasting about how Zoon has 10 times the gravity of Earth, Pui Pui is humiliated and then killed by Vegeta after he tells Pui Pui that he trained at 500 times Earth's gravity.
* CurbStompBattle:
** The victim of an outright one-sided take of the trope against Vegeta (who didn't even bother going Super Saiyan).
** Hilariously carried over into ''Buu's Fury'' for the GBA. Without level grinding at all, you can kill him in a single punch. He has one of the lowest hp counts in the game (''including'' the early random enemies.)
* {{Determinator}}: And despite being clearly beaten, Pui Pui foolishly kept on fighting until Vegeta killed him.
* EvilGloating: Especially about how his planet has higher gravity than Earth's.
* GoneHorriblyRight: He had Babidi turn the battlefield in his homeworld, with 10 times the gravity of Earth. It just happens that his opponent comes from a homeworld with the same gravity and is used to a gravity of 500 times that of Earth...
* HeavyWorlder: Boasted about how his homeworld has 10 times the gravity of Earth.
* MonochromaticEyes: Green in color.
* OvershadowedByAwesome: The sad thing is that he ''is'' genuinely one of the most powerful beings in the universe.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Despite genuinely being one of the strongest beings in the universe, he, [[WrongGenreSavvy like many other villains, is ignorant that all the strongest fighters in the series at this point are on Earth]], leading to a humiliating defeat.
* SmugSnake: Definitely. He was ''way'' too confident that no matter how strong the Z-Fighters were, they wouldn't be any match for him, especially considering he didn't have a clue who they were or exactly how powerful they really were. Vegeta proved him dead wrong the moment they started fighting.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: To say that he underestimated Vegeta would be, well, an understatement. It becomes even funnier when he thought he had the home advantage since his planet had ten times the Earth's gravity. That's the exact same gravity of Vegeta's birth planet, and even then, Vegeta had trained under literally ''hundreds'' of times Earth's gravity prior to their battle.
* WackyGuy: His very emotional and ineffectual tactics against Vegeta show him to be this.

Babidi's monstrous "pet" from the planet Dark Star who battles against Goku. During the fight, Yakon drains the "pure light" from Goku whenever he turns Super Saiyan, temporally de-powering him. [[PhlebotinumOverload Goku feeds Yakon so much light that the monster explodes.]]
* BalloonBelly: Yakon gets one before dying.
* BizarreAlienBiology: In addition to being able to eat light, he can somehow survive on a planet with no sun.
* BladeBelowTheShoulder: Can pull his 'bones' in and out to attack his opponent.
* DeathByGluttony: Subverted. Dabura, Supreme Kai, and Gohan assume Yakon did this when eating so much of Goku's Super Saiyan energy that he explodes. Vegeta, however, is sharp enough to catch that Goku briefly changed to Super Saiyan 2, drastically increasing the amount of energy Yakon was trying to inhale all at once, overloading and killing him.
* EnergyAbsorption: Yakon's ability to eat light.
* ExposedExtraterrestrials: Unlike the rest of Babidi's minions, he wears no clothing.
* {{Expy}}: [[Franchise/StarWars Of a Rancor.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Goku defeated him by using his light-absorbing ability against him by force-feeding him more than he could handle.
* InnateNightVision: As a native of Dark Star, he can see in complete darkness.
* LightningBruiser: Managed to catch Goku off guard with a quick slash attack.
* FedToTheBeast: He's the beast.
* PhlebotinumOverload: [[HoistByHisOwnPetard Too much light, however, proved to be a bad thing.]]
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He only shows up to fight Goku and be killed, but the fight reveals to Vegeta that Goku is able to become a Super Saiyan 2. This reawakens Vegeta's inferiority complex to the point he's willing to let Babidi possess him for more power, setting in motion his fight with Goku and Buu's freedom.
%%* ThirdPersonPerson
* VillainousGlutton: He can eat light and sucked Goku until he turned back to normal from being a Super Saiyan.
* WeakenedByTheLight: Averted. Despite coming from a planet shrouded in darkness, his eyes are not sensitive to light. Yakon can see in both the dark and light.

Two human fighters possessed and empowered by Babidi, sent to infiltrate the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai and to drain all of Gohan's ki in order to draw out enough energy to revive Majin Buu. Once their job was done, Babidi, having no more use for them, has them both killed.
* AlasPoorVillain: InUniverse, the Z Senshi are horrified at the way Babidi callously has them obliterated even after they accomplished their task for him. Even Gohan finds it sickening, and need we remind you these are the same two guys who jammed a needle into his side, sucked out almost all of his energy, and in Spopovich's case, ruthlessly beat Videl within an inch of her life.
* AlienBlood: Probably related to the spell, Spopovich has purple blood. He and Yamu also have purple tongues.
* AssholeVictim: In spite of their AlasPoorVillain moment and the fact that they were brainwashed the entire time, it's noticeable that when Bulma uses the Dragon Balls later on the same day to bring back everyone who died and wasn't evil they're not among those resurrected, since they were only brainwashed due to ''willingly'' going to Babidi for power.
* BaldOfEvil: Both lost their hair when they went to the dark side.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Thanks to Babidi's spell, especially Spopovich who nearly kills Videl.
* TheBrute: Spopovich. He isn't known for much except for how he tortured Videl to get back at her father for {{Curb Stomp}}ing him at the last Tournament.
* ColdBloodedTorture: The minute he stops holding back, Spopovich goes out of his way to do this to Videl; by the end of the match, he's sadistically stomping on Videl's head while Videl is ''screaming in agony''.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Spopovich receives one of the most gruesome deaths in the series, slowly and horrifically inflating until he explodes (and it's not even the last time this happens to a minor villain in this saga!) Given that he gave one of the most brutal beatdowns in the series to a hero, a young girl at that, you won't find many fans who [[KarmicDeath don't consider this well-deserved.]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: Spopovich almost murders Videl in retaliation for her father defeating him at the last tournament.
* DumbMuscle: Spopovich. He doesn't seem too much even before his face-heel turn.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: In spite of being enslaved by Babidi's magic, Yamu retains enough of his humanity to be disgusted and angered by Spopovich's torture of Videl in their battle. When the latter was about to kill the girl, he could tolerate it no longer and erupts:
--> '''Yamu:''' '''ENOUGH''', Spopovich! ''[with a look of genuine pity and sadness for Videl]'' This isn't what we came here to do; ring-out the girl and finish this match.
* EvilIsPetty: Spopovich beat Videl within an inch of her life because he lost to her father. It's even implied that he became Babidi's servant just so he could get back at Mr. Satan.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: Spopovich, having grown frustrated with being beaten by Mr. Satan, is enslaved by Babidi and given a power-up which he then uses to get back at his rival. Vegeta would later repeat this. In fact, Vegeta seems to have been inspired by it.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Spopovich started out as an average fighter in the 24th World Martial Arts Tournament. By the time of the 25th, he's now Babidi's lackey who beats Videl to a bloody pulp and is instrumental to Buu's revival.
* InTheBack: Yamu is killed after Pui Pui shoots him in from behind as he runs for his life.
* ItsPersonal: Spopovich inadvertently invokes this against Gohan after brutally taking down Videl. Subverted, though, as seen in TheUnfought below.
* KarmicDeath: Spopovich sadistically abuse the power granted to him by Babidi against Videl. In the end, Babidi takes that same power and uses it to gruesomely blow him up from the inside.
* KickTheDog: Spopovich's entire fight against Videl, once he starts fighting seriously.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Spopovich vs. Videl fight, when Videl finally manages to concede that she's in over her head against the magically-enhanced Spopovich and lets herself get thrown out of the ring... only for Spopovich to grab her leg in mid-air and toss her back in, returning her to a CurbStompBattle that seemed to be doing its damnedest to rival the Frieza vs. Vegeta fight in sheer brutality.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Spopovich gives a brutal one to Videl in their fight, to the point that Videl is left crying in agony.
* PunchPunchPunchUhOh: Spopovich did this to Videl at first. He took a lot of free hits, without receiving damage at all, and even an apparently lethal kick in the neck, which was deserving of a disqualification for Videl... until Spopovich turned his neck back to place, and then he proceeded to [[NowItsMyTurn fight seriously]], [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown brutally harming Videl in the process]].
* RedOniBlueOni: Spopovich is red and Yamu is blue.
* SinsOfOurFathers: Spopovich gave himself over to Babidi and then entered the tournament to get revenge on Mr. Satan for humiliating him in the last tournament. He takes great pleasure in torturing Videl and nearly kills her before Yamu stops him.
* TheStoic: Yamu, until he's faced with death.
* SympathyForTheHero: Yamu genuinely felt sorry for Videl when she was being tormented by Spopovich.
* ThoseTwoBadGuys: Nearly always seen together.
* TookALevelInBadass: They were normal humans prior to their brainwashing. Spopovich, in fact, lost to Mr. Satan at the last tournament, fairly quickly at that. Post-brainwashing, they have flight, super-strength, and energy blasts. They're still incredibly weak by the standards of the main characters, but far stronger than any regular human.
* TheUnfought: After Spopovich cripples Videl, an angry Gohan assures him that they will face off in the next round, where Gohan hoped to seek revenge. After it becomes clear who Spopovich and Yamu are working for, however, Gohan never gets the chance to make good on that promise, as the duo are killed off by Babidi and his minions. Yamu is never even shown fighting someone before his death.
* UnskilledButStrong: In terms of skill, Videl is actually better than Spopovich, but thanks to Babidi, he has power that far exceeds that of a normal human. It's actually what tips the Z-fighters off that there is something wrong since they can't fathom how someone could be that unskilled but so strong.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: Yamu doesn't wear a shirt at all.
* WhyAmITicking: How Babidi kills Spopovich. He makes him expand until he explodes from the inside out.
* WouldHitAGirl: Spopovich doesn't just hit Videl; he beats her to a bloody pulp to the point where she's screaming and ''crying'' from the pain, and is only stopped from killing her by Yamu ordering him to stop.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: The victims of this despite succeeding in their mission.

!!Bibidi (ビビディ)
->Voiced by: Isamu Tanonaka (Japanese)
->Voiced by: Terry Klassen (Ocean Dub)
->Voiced By: Duncan Brannan (Funimation)
->Voiced by: Arturo Mercado (Latin American)

A stubby wizard responsible for summoning the demon Majin Buu millions of years prior to the beginning of ''Dragon Ball''. The wizard Babidi is his doppelganger but refers to him as his "father".
* AliensAreBastards: Yes, on par with Freeza.
* BadBoss: Possibly. We don't see a whole lot of his interactions with Buu, but we do know that Buu rebelled against him somewhat regularly. With that said, he favored the carrot (cake) when it came to handling Buu, something Babidi should have taken notes from.
* FatBastard: He's fairly rotund, especially in comparison to Babidi.
* FoodAsBribe: He got Buu to destroy planets for him by serving him cake every night as a reward for his services.
* GreaterScopeVillain: Though the heroes never meet him (barring Supreme Kai), he sets the events that lead to the Buu Saga in motion.
* ALighterShadeOfBlack: Both he and Babidi are evil, no doubt about that, but it's suggested that Bibidi is more of a BenevolentBoss. Whereas Babidi was mostly an asshole to Buu, causing Buu to become TheStarscream, Bibidi willingly rewarded Buu with cake when he did well (granted, it was because he was using FoodAsBribe, but at least he willingly rewarded his minion).
* MesACrowd: Had the ability to split himself into multiple copies, but doing so divided his power among all of his copies. Once he died, his doppelganger/"son" Babidi gained all of the power.
* OmnicidalManiac: He planned on using Buu to annihilate everything in the universe so that he could shape the remains to his liking.
* PosthumousCharacter: He's mentioned a lot but has less than five minutes of screentime. We only see a brief flashback to him late in the show when Supreme Kai is explaining Buu's original form.
* PredecessorVillain: To Babidi, who is his doppelganger and is using his plan.
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He may have a small amount of screentime, but the entire Buu Saga and the massacre of the Kais occurs because of his actions.
* TrulySingleParent: Babidi is actually a magically-created clone of him.

->Voiced by: Mark Orvik (Funimation dub)
->Voiced by: César Soto (Latin American)

A deranged human gunman who uses Majin Buu's threat as an excuse to kill as many innocent people as possible. His actions lead directly to the birth of Evil Buu, of whom Van Zant is the first victim.
* ApocalypseAnarchy: He uses Majin Buu's killing spree as an excuse to go on his own. His rationale: Buu's most likely going to kill everyone anyway, so why not?
* AssholeVictim: Alongside Babidi, he's easily the ''least'' sympathetic of Buu's victims.
* AxCrazy: He's a lunatic gunman who eagerly uses Buu's rampage as an excuse to kill as many people as possible.
* BullyingADragon: He decides to try to kill Majin Buu so he can continue to kill people, after Buu's personally wiped out most of humanity. [[SarcasmMode Brilliant idea]].
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: In his first scene, he shoots an old lady dead and talks his pal Smitty into doing the same to her husband.
* EvilBrit: The Funimation and Ocean dubs give him a thick Cockney accent.
* EvilCounterpart: ''Kai'' makes him seem like a counterpart to Mr. Satan, if he wasn't one already, sharing physical characteristics, wildly underestimating Buu, and now with the removal of his original "Why not?" motive for shooting things up, explaining his presence by hoping to destroy Buu and be "worshipped" as the world's greatest hero... except ''he's'' still a trigger-happy crazed shooter.
* ForTheEvulz: He takes advantage of Majin Buu's killing spree to go on one of his own, stating that since Buu's going to destroy the world anyway, he can do whatever he wants. Since he later drops this and decides to try to kill Buu himself so he can go on killing people, it's clear Van Zant loves hurting and killing people so much that all he needs is an excuse.
* HateSink: Everything he does is basically meant to make the viewer hate him.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: He uses Buu's killing spree as an excuse to go on one of his own, and eventually shoots and nearly kills Mr. Satan and Bee, causing Buu to [[LiteralSplitPersonality spawn Evil Buu]]. From here on out, the Buu Saga consists of the rest of the universe paying the price for Van Zant's actions. The episode he appears in to kickstart this is called "The Evil of Men."
* KickTheDog: Literally; the first thing he does upon finding Buu is shoot Bee, the little puppy, for fun.
* MotiveDecay: His initial reason for his killing spree is [[ApocalypseAnarchy because he thinks that since Buu is eventually going to destroy the world anyway, he can do whatever he wants]]. This spirals into him trying to kill Buu himself because he wants to keep killing people.
* NoNameGiven: In the original manga.
* OhCrap: He freaks out and attempts to run away when Evil Buu spots and heads right for him, then spends his last moments in sheer terror when shooting him inevitably doesn't work.
* RichBastard: in the manga and Japanese anime, it's implied that he comes from a wealthy background or family, as Smitty calls him "Young Master".
* SmallRoleBigImpact: He's only around for a couple episodes, but it's because of him that Evil Buu/Super Buu came into existence.
* ThereIsNoKillLikeOverkill: Evil Buu shoots him with a blast powerful enough to destroy the entire hill he's standing on. At ''point blank range''.
* TooDumbToLive: Goes out of his way to provoke and attempt to kill Majin Buu despite knowing how powerful and dangerous he is. This proceeds to quite literally blow up in his face when this causes Evil Buu to spawn.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: As he caused the creation of Super Buu, he is indirectly responsible for all the bad stuff that happens afterwards.
* VillainHasAPoint: In the English version of the anime, he points out what a lousy hero Mr Satan is, cooking meals ''like a nanny'' for Buu while he is destroying their world. While Satan was trying to reform him, from an outsider's viewpoint it just looked like he was saving his own neck.
* VillainousFriendship: With his lackey, Smitty. Zant calls him an "old friend" at one point, and they do get along fairly well. Zant asked Smitty to help him kill people because he wanted him to join in on the fun.

!!Smitty (召し使い, ''Meshitukai'', "Servant")

Van Zant's toady. He also plays a part in the creation of Evil Buu (and, by proxy, Super Buu).
* AssholeVictim: Just like his boss. He mercilessly kills several people and is shown visibly enjoying himself despite his initial reluctance.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Buu turns into liquid and [[FeedItABomb goes down his throat, making him expand until he explodes]]. You almost feel sorry for him given how his boss got off so much easier. Even Mr. Satan and Bee (who were shot and nearly killed by his boss) are sickened.
* BattleButler: In the manga and Japanese anime, it is implied that Smitty is Van Zant's butler, as he addresses him as "Young master".
* FatBastard: He's rather plump.
* IgnoredEpiphany: He is distraught when Van Zant tells him to kill an old man, but he does so anyway and finds it fun.
* NoNameGiven: In the manga and Japanese anime.
* OrificeInvasion: How he dies; Buu liquifies and shoots down his throat, causing him to expand until his body pops like a zit.
* PunchClockVillain: He isn't a sociopath like his master and follows Van Zant more out of servitude than enjoyment of killing people. That said, he does come to like committing murder.
* ShootingSuperman: He shoots at Super Buu with a machine gun, only to be shocked when Buu just stands there and [[HealingFactor regenerates]]. This is after Buu survived being hit with a ''missile''.
* VillainousFriendship: With his boss, Van Zant. The two get along a bit better than the average boss and evil henchman do.
