- Adaptational Badass: This Matt used by Kanius become one of the strongest beings in his fanfics.
- Aloof Big Brother: Towards TK.
- Anti-Hero: Her serves this role in Digimon Fusion Kai like Vegeta.
- Arch-Enemy: Towards Burizalor and the abuse he endures. Also to Omega X for the most part besides being a rival, but this trait fades near the end of Season 3.
- Yamato also has it out on Kensuke Rainer/Dramon X that he's seen as less of a rival and more of both willing to kill each other if they had the chance. Yamato really hates Kensuke more than Taichi per say.

- The Rival: To Omega X.
- Split Personality: Has a dark personality named 'Yamato' being created by Burizalor's by-product.
- Token Evil Teammate: The Yamato is this towards the Kai Digidestined.
- Took a Level in Badass: When he became Metalla X, and when he ascended that level.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: When he first became Metalla X. Due to how Across Dimensions goes, this will carry on in Season 3, especially in Siege of GranDracmon that when he murders Deckerdramon. This reaches its peak in Season 3 when Yamato allows himself to become Dark Metalla X by DarkMagimon’s control just to have a rematch with Omega X. Thankfully by the end of Season 3 it’s fading away.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Becomes kinder and more control of himself as Matt by the end of Season 3. He still has some of Yamato's traits, but remains a dedicated person.
