The original species that inhabited the original reality before it was destroyed. They're basically the prototypes of canon characters.

In General
- Final Solution: Were on the receiving end of one of these, from Lincoln, their supposed father, no less. And it was so effective, the only real protophilim remaining are the proto-sisters and Lincoln, and even then they most likely don't count as regular protophilim.
- Hopeless War: They were caught in one of these between the Proto-Sisters and Proto-Lincoln and the Neo-Sisters. They were on the losing side.
- Identical Stranger: Judging from what's seen from Proto-Maggie and the proto-sisters, the protophilim and progenitors in general seem to look relatively the same as the "canon" characters in the new reality. Possibly justified by them seemingly serving as prototypes for the canon characters.
Prototype Maggie
One of the prototypes that was caught in the mess that would eventually result in the destruction of the original reality. Lincoln sees her in a vision he has during chapter 1, when he sees Maggie approaching.
- Age-Inappropriate Dress: Proto-Maggie looks like Maggie, who's basically a teenager, and yet the vision she appears in shows her wearing clothing resembling Colonel Crackers, which would make her look like a veteran.
- No Name Given: "Proto-Maggie" is just a name used to differentiate her from the canon (Or, well, the chains of reality version of) Maggie. By all accounts, it's possible her name was either "Prototype Maggie" or just "Maggie."
- Uncertain Doom: Downplayed, in that like most of the protophilim, the fact she's not around in the present day means she's most likely out of commission. However, the fact that the vision she appears in ends as soon as she's engulfed by light, with no indication she was killed right then and there, makes it ambiguous as to what happened to her.
Prototype Tabby
A prototype who seems to have worked alongside Proto-Ronnie Anne during the conflict between the progenitors. She's seen during Ronnie Anne's vision in chapter 27.
- Dynamic Entry: She, as well as Proto-Ronnie Anne and whoever else was on her side, did one of these by jumping off whatever platform they were as they headed into the battlefield.
- Scarf of Asskicking: The only notable difference between her and Neo-Tabby is a purple scarf as has wrapped around her neck.
- Silent Bob: Doesn't say a single word in her first appearence.
