The Murderer

The Murderer's backpack

A camper who betrays their friends and kills them.

• Ambiguous Situation: As for what their motivation is, how The Nightmare knew who they were, his fate during some of the endings (See Uncertain Doom below), none of it is answered.
• Arc Villain / Big Bad: Of the first game.
• Badass Normal: Absolutely no supernatural abilities, using only their deception and cunning tricks to kill the campers.
• Evil All Along: It turns out that The Nightmare is actually trying to kill The Murderer, and that The Murderer was actually one of the Campers.
• Iconic Item: Their backpack with rat poison.
• Karmic Death: In the Second Solo Ending, where they are killed by The Nightmare.
• The Bad Guy Wins: In the Murderer, Betrayal, and First Solo Ending (Though in the case of the latter, it's more bittersweet. See Uncertain Doom below).
• Uncertain Doom: In two of the endings (One of which was Dummied Out):
  • In the First Solo Ending, they aren't shown getting killed by The Nightmare and they are responsible for at least some of the deaths (Meaning they partially succeeded in killing all the campers), but they're stuck in Specky Woods, surrounded by black water that kills people that touch it, with no food or water, and no exit.
  • In the Dummied Out Traitor Ending, they come face to face with The Nightmare, and threaten him at knife point, before the screen cuts to the ending screen. It's never revealed what happened to them.
  • Hell, even without getting these endings, The Murderer's exclusion from the next entries begs the question of just what happened to them after the events of the first game.

A murderous psychopath who wanted revenge for his dead daughter, murdering the family responsible for her death.

• Arc Villain / Big Bad: Of Camping 2 and 3.
• Ambiguous Situation: As for how he's able to summon lightning, we're never told.
• Badass Normal: Unlike most of the sequel/prequel villains, he is simply a delusional, murderous psychopath who uses brute force to commit murders. At least until the third game.
• Easily Forgiven: The family he killed very quickly forgave him for his actions, apparently understanding that he was going through extreme grief.
  • Zach also quickly forgives the family after the dad tells him that him hitting his daughter with his car was an accident.
• From Nobody to Nightmare: A normal man with a daughter turns into a vengeful Serial Killer after her death, and has since become a well known criminal. He becomes even more of a nightmare after his death in Camping 2, escalating to an Implacable Man with supernatural powers in Camping 3.
• Greater-Scope Villain: He's the criminal that killed the family of five, leading to the son turning into The Nightmare and killing the campers in Specky Woods, indirectly causing the events of the first game.
• Heel–Face Turn: After the family he killed tells him he didn't mean to kill his daughter, he redeems himself by sacrificing himself to save the campers.
• Heroic Sacrifice: Performs one to save the campers.
• Implacable Man: He becomes this in Camping 3, a major upgrade from his Badass Normal status in the games before this.
• Karmic Death: Killed by The Nightmare in the Canonical Ending of Camping 2.
• The Bad Guy Wins: In the bad ending of Camping 2.
• Took a Level in Badass: From Badass Normal in Camping 2 to an Implacable Man in Camping 3.
