A list of characters and character-related tropes from ''Manga/BusouRenkin!''

[[folder:Kazuki Muto]]
-->Voiced by: Creator/JunFukuyama (JP), Creator/SteveStaley (EN)

TheHero of the story, Kazuki is a very well-meaning guy that enjoys helping people. At the start of the story, he's caught in the crossfire between Tokiko and a Homunculous and killed, but Tokiko gives him a Kakugane as a means of resurrecting him. He uses it to create a Busou Renkin later on.
* AllLovingHero: He's nice to everybody, he tries to save everybody, and even helps people who were killing him not five minutes before, even people who were killing him five minutes previously, then stop, then betray the truce, he'll ''still help them''!
* AmazonChaser: He is attracted to Tokiko's fighting skill.
* AnimeHair: While not as bad as his [[Anime/YuGiOh namesake]] he's got some weird hair.
* BadassNormal: Before getting his powers, facing down a giant snake-like homunculus with nothing but a steel pipe! Guy's got some guts,[[spoiler: even though getting them ripped out of him doesn't do him any good, he still manages to cope with it.]]
* BattleCouple: With Tokiko.
* {{BFS}}: His Busou Renkin, Sunlight Heart.
* BigBrotherInstinct: You better don't mess with his sister [[TheDitz Mahiro]].
* {{Bishonen}}
* BoringInvincibleHero: Deconstructed with the FirstEpisodeResurrection and just avoided the DecoyProtagonist trope. His Sunlight Heart is remarkably powerful, and his [[spoiler: EmergencyTransformation later on]] makes him even moreso, but his lack of combat experience means he has to work for his victories. That, and he [[spoiler: would rather not use the power of a Victor III at all, if he could avoid it]].
* CantStayNormal: Had the chance to go back to his regular life after [[spoiler: Tokiko resurrected him with the Kakugane.]] [[JumpedAtTheCall He didn't take the offer, apparently.]]
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Ready to jump whenever he sees anyone in danger. It actually got him [[FirstEpisodeResurrection killed in the first episode]].
* ClingyMacguffin: Since he'll die without his Kakugane.
* CovertPervert: He's a really NiceGuy and doesn't think that dirty, but he does have a PornStash.
* DeliberateInjuryGambit: Because he doesn't have a heart, Kazuki will oftentimes take a normally lethal hit to the torso in order to deliver a blow of his own.
* {{Determinator}}: Justified because of his new heart but even then it also makes you wonder how much more he can take.
* TheDulcineaEffect: Got his foo' self killed trying to save a chick he didn't even know. The kicker is that Tokiko didn't even need to be saved, as she was baiting herself in order to draw out the Homunculus and Kazuki was merely in the way. But luckily for Kazuki, Tokiko had an extra kakugane on hand in order to give him a second chance at life.
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: Papillon certainly does.
* FirstEpisodeResurrection: And purely on Tokiko's whim.
* HadesShaded: [[spoiler:As Victor III.]]
* TheHero: He's the central protagonist, a NiceGuy, and determined to do the right thing no matter what.
* HeroicSuicide: [[spoiler:He decides he must kill himself before he becomes a full Victor-Type and tries to destroy the world, since one of his alternate options failed and it seems the other won't be ready in time. Thankfully he doesn't have to go through with it in the end.]]
* {{Hypocrite}}: Papillon called him this for wanting to continue fighting him despite having been killed, comparing it to how he was practically on his death bed because of his illness and wanting to fight to continue to live. It's when Kazuki fights Papillon and says that he should stop killing and accept his fate that he begins to call Kazuki this, when Kazuki got a second chance. Of course the entire thing falls flat because Kazuki doesn't have to kill people in order to survive. [[spoiler: That chances after the whole Victor thing, but once again falls flat because Kazuki fights to find an alternative that means not having to siphon life from people.]]
* IDidntMeanToTurnYouOn: Does this multiple times to Tokiko, one notable example was him hugging her protectively while giving his InTheNameOfTheMoon speech, and he was [[ShirtlessScene shirtless]]. Cue LuminescentBlush. [[spoiler: Also arguably when he touches her scar at the very end]].
* IdiotHero: Downplayed. He's not a moron, but can be remarkably naive when it comes to some of his craftier adversaries.
* LightningBruiser: Especially his [[CallingYourAttacks BURST THROUGH! MY BUSOU RENKIN!]] attack, which involves shooting forward super fast and super hard.
* LikesOlderWomen: To Tokiko's amusement.
* OfficialCouple: With Tokiko.
* OrdinaryHighSchoolStudent: He was just a normal high school student until he got killed by a Homunculus and Tokiko brought him back to life by implanting a Kakugane into his chest as a replacement heart.
* PowerDyesYourHair: [[spoiler:When Kazuki's Black Kakugane III awoke it transformed him into a Victor, giving him glowing white hair (light green in the anime).]]
* PurpleEyes
* RedOniBlueOni: Red Oni to Tokiko's Blue Oni.
* SecondYearProtagonist: He's the main character of the series and a second year high school student.
* SenselessSacrifice: In the first episode, he dies trying to save Tokiko, but Tokiko wasn't actually in any danger and was just luring Homunculus Mita into a trap.
* ShirtlessScene: Gets a couple, but prominently when [[spoiler:he turned into a Victor]] which could count as FanDisservice.
* ShonenHair: He has the typical spiky hair of a StockShonenHero.
* StockShonenHero: He's an optimistic and reckless IdiotHero with spiky hair and a {{Determinator}} who he refuses to back down from any opponent no matter how strong they may be. This strong will is fueled even further when he is cheered on by others. He cares a lot for his companions and will do anything to protect them. He also will risk his life to save complete strangers.
* SwordBeam: Sunlight Heart doubles as a BoomStick.
* UnskilledButStrong: Sunlight Heart makes him a LightningBruiser [[spoiler:and his ability to become [[StoryBreakerPower Victor can be very broken]]]] however he is also the least trained member of Alchemist Warriors.
* WalkingWasteland: [[spoiler:His Kakugane is actually the third Black Kakugane, thus giving him the power to counter Victor, though almost at the cost of his life-drain aura becoming stronger and killing everybody else]].

[[folder:Tokiko Tsumura]]
-->Voiced by: Creator/RyokaYuzuki (JP), Creator/TaraPlatt (EN)

Kazuki's savior and [[TheLancer lancer]], Tokiko introduces him into the world of alchemy and saves his life by giving Kazuki a Kakugane. Total badass.
* ActionGirl: Big-time. It's very rare to see her in trouble that she can't get herself out of.
* ActionGirlfriend: The series starts out with Tokiko resurrecting Kazuki from the dead after he got killed on the spot by a Homunculous. She proceeds to introduce him into the world of alchemy and becomes Kazuki's mentor and love interest.
* AlliterativeName: '''T'''okiko '''T'''sumura
* AntiHero: She's willing to ShootTheDog. However, see DefrostingIceQueen.
* BadassAdorable: She ''DEFINITELY'' has her moments.
* BattleCouple: With Kazuki.
* BelatedBackstory: Her origin is not revealed in the manga until the final issue, where it's revealed [[spoiler: she's the only person in her school who survived a homunculus attack, and ended up killing the homunculus (who had posed as a fellow classmate) with the Valkyrie Skirt, using the Kakugane which was being used to heal her wounds. She gained both her scar and her hatred of homonuculi during the incident]].
* BoringButPractical: Other alchemists get flashy StockSuperpowers. Tokiko just gets a bunch of extra limbs ending in sharp objects. Fortunately, it turns out that having extra limbs ending in sharp objects is '''incredibly good for killing people'''.
* CatchPhrase: Often yells something about her opponents' guts, such as her intentions to rip them out, splatter them etc; also OnTheNextEpisodeOfCatchphrase
* CombatPragmatist: She doesn't really fight fair. She'll go for the eyes, foul up her opponent's ability to heal properly, strike without warning...it's all fair game to her.
* DeadpanSnarker: Whenever she isn't fighting.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She started out as somewhat cold to Kazuki, but starts growing attached to him over time and finally falls in love with him.
* DeliberatelyDistressedDamsel: In the first episode, Tokiko leaves herself wide open, leading Kazuki to think she is just an InnocentBystander. Nope. She's an Alchemist Warrior, and she was leading the MonsterOfTheWeek into a trap. Kazuki just got in the way and got killed for nothing.
* DontFearTheReaper: Her Busou Renkin's sub-name is Death Scythe, she's pretty to boot.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Well Mahiro does anyway.
* FantasticRacism: Really, really hates homunculi or anybody who would [[TheQuisling help them]].
* FourIsDeath: Her Busou Renkin, "Busou Renkin of the Death Scythe: Valkyrie Skirt," has four blades.
* GoingCommando: She doesn't wear a bra, not like she needs one, but was it necessary to show her undress?
* GoodScarsEvilScars: It's noticeable, representing her status as an AntiHero, but it's even, showing her inherently good nature.
* HunterOfMonsters: Was the SoleSurvivor of a homunculi massacre, which explains her ruthless attitude toward them.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Even more then Kazuki, it's four scythes on the end of robot arms attached at her thighs.
* TheLancer: To Kazuki.
* MagicSkirt: Deliberately invoked by Watsuki - he re-designed the Valkyrie Skirt's design so it wouldn't be flipping her dress every time it deployed.
* MsFanservice: Averted for the most part, though, due to Watsuki making deliberate decisions to avoid this. For example, her Valkyrie Skirt was going to be an ''actual'' skirt (as in, the blades come out from under her skirt,) until he realized that it would result in a lot of accidental {{Panty Shot}}s.
* NewTransferStudent: She officially enrolls in Kazuki's school as a transfer student.
* OfficialCouple: With Kazuki.
* PerpetualFrowner: She doesn't smile often. [[WhenSheSmiles But it's rather lovely when she does]].
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue Oni to Kazuki's Red Oni. Though she gets quite excited during battle.
* ReluctantFanserviceGirl: Her clothes are always [[ClothingDamage getting ripped up]] and she reluctantly wore a bikini in one episode.
* RescueIntroduction: Subverted. Kazuki thought she was in danger of being attacked by Homunculus Mita, but she actually was just luring it into a trap.
* ScarsAreForever: The scar across her nose that she got from a homunculus attack. Actually, it could have been healed, but she wanted to keep it.
* SciFiBobHaircut
* SexyMentor: Kazuki and Gouta both share this opinion.
* SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan: She falls in love with Kazuki for his optimism, virtue, strong will and determination to protect everyone.
* SoleSurvivor: Of a homunculus attack on her school. She was rescued by Captain Bravo.
* SpiderLimbs: Her Valkyrie Skirt.
* TransferStudentUniforms: Keeps the uniform she transfers in with, but for a justifiable reason, as the long skirt used by Kazuki's classmates would interfere with the Valkyrie Skirt.
* TraumaInducedAmnesia: Has blanked out all of her life before being found by the Alchemic Army.
* {{Tsundere}}: She becomes angry whenever Kazuki does something really stupid, but she truly comes to love him.
* WeakButSkilled: Compared to Kazuki, her Busou Renkin specializes in precise and swift movement, as opposed to giant energy blasts. As Kazuki himself notes, it's almost completely lacking in flashy special abilities like most of the others, but the device's range of motion and her perfect control of it is beyond anything modern science could reasonably create, and incredibly deadly in its own right.
* ZettaiRyouiki: Grade B-.

-->Voiced by: Creator/MitsuakiMadono (JP), Creator/SpikeSpencer (EN)

Once known as Koushaku Chouno, a sickly loner [[TheUnfavorite despised by his family]], he became a homunculus and a [[LargeHam massive ham]] as well.
* AgentPeacock: He's campy and quirky as ''hell,'' but don't think for a ''second'' that this makes him any less dangerous or capable as the others in the series.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Beyond his manner of dress, his obsession with Kazuki is nuts
* AnimalMotifs: Butterflies.
* BadassBookworm: He started out as a social recluse who dove into alchemy to find a way to heal his crippling sickness. He retains his fascination for knowledge even after being reborn as a superhuman homunculus.
* BadassNormal: In the second episode, he is riding around totally calmly on Washio's back, even when Washio is attacking and defending - from a few hundred feet up in the air. Including perfectly holding his balance during dives and blurringly-fast maneuvers. Not bad for a guy with an IncurableCoughOfDeath.
* BarelyThereSwimwear: A sling-style mankini that counts as serious FanDisservice (at least in-universe. And probably outside it, too).
* CardCarryingVillain: He's not shy about voicing his plans to burn down all the "trash of the world." [[ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything. He never quite follows up on it, though]].
* TheChessmaster: He's not the BigBad of the series, but he's quite good at manipulating certain responses out of others, or at withholding vital information or secrets that let him catch others off-guard.
* CombatSadomasochist: One of the saner examples of this (and more of a masochist than sadist), but he has shown what seems like arousal in reaction to injury, and on the sadist front, look at his commentary after eating his family.
* DoNotCallMePaul: Ever since he became an homunculus, he no longer responds when called "Koushaku Chouno". He only makes an exception to his WorthyOpponent Kazuki though.
* EmpoweredBadassNormal: He becomes a homunculus and gains his Busou Renkin.
* EvilIsHammy: [[CatchPhrase PAPIIII...LLON!!!]]
* EvilTastesGood: He describes devouring his [[AssholeVictim abusive twin brother]] as "hot as hell, dark as the devil, and as sweet as a kiss."
* FacePalmOfDoom: Delivers one to his asshole brother, and keeps it rolling from there. He appears able to ''consume people'' through creepy orifices in his palms--he just sucks them right in, leaving behind nothing but their empty clothes.
* FashionVictimVillain: Invoked to the extreme when he becomes a homunculus and dons...''[[http://img1.ak.crunchyroll.com/i/spire3/02082008/e/b/c/6/ebc66bc0ab6810_full.jpg this]]''. Most characters are utterly weirded out by him and his bizarre fashion sense.
* FauxAffablyEvil: He can act charismatic and polite, but there's definitely something twisted lurking behind his veneer of sanity.
** Later, it can be argued that he develops into becoming AffablyEvil.
* FriendlyEnemies: Toward Kazuki, with a massive amount of FoeYay on his part
* GlassCannon: Can blow people to smithereens with his Busou Renkin, Near-death Happiness, but suffers from a severe lack in stamina due to his disease.
* GoodCostumeSwitch: His purple butterfly logo turned orange in the finale.
* HeelFaceTurn: After being spared by Kazuki in their final duel, and given a PatrickStewartSpeech as an explanation, Papillon decides to abandon his plans for world conquest/destruction in favor of becoming a beloved urban legend.
* HiddenDepths: Who knew the sickly wallflower Chouno Koushaku would become the shameless, flamboyant Papillon?
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: 'Cause of a [[FreudianExcuse shitty childhood]] this is his personal philosophy.
* ImmortalityImmorality: Homunculi have to eat people, [[spoiler: but he doesn't--it's the desire of the homunculi to become human that drives them to consume human flesh, and since he hated his human life, he doesn't have to eat them.]]
* IncurableCoughOfDeath: Both before and after his transformation.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Subverted; he actually does nice things since they benefit himself as well, like [[EnemyMine helping]] Kazuki since [[TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou only he can defeat him]], [[WildMassGuessing well]] that's his [[IWasJustPassingThrough excuse]].
* MadBomber: His Busou Renkin allows him to create and control gunpowder, and he's rather crazy.
* NobleDemon: He is ruthless in his quest to become a Homunculus, but this is just because he's sickly and dying, and wants immortality. Once he's become a homunculus, he's content to just observe, provide covert aid for the heroes, wear a disturbingly flamboyant costume, and, in the end, become an urban legend to schoolgirls. It helps that, due to his imperfect metamorphosis, he doesn't need to eat humans like other homunculi do.
* OffstageVillainy: Its indicated that in order to transform himself, people had to die, including children, although Chouno didn't kill them himself (his minions probably did), but after that, he doesn't really do anything evil (although he makes threats that sound like those of an OmnicidalManiac).
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Takes it to the point where he's effectively one of Kazuki's most valuable allies. [[ArchEnemy Not that either of them have actually noticed this little detail.]]
* RefugeInAudacity: His costume, for starters. Which he'll wear in public, even when he ''really'' should be keeping a low profile.
* SelfMadeOrphan: He ate his father, brother, and family bodyguards - which doesn't come off as that bad though, since they were all assholes.
* SissyVillain: He dresses in a flamboyant outfit including Speedos and a distinctive butterfly mask, and he certainly has a lot of FoeYay with Kazuki.
* TheStarscream: Can't stand being treated as a lab rat and half-complete mess by Dr. Butterfly, so he turns on the LXE.
* {{Stripperific}}: His costume is essentially just a skintight jumpsuit and a butterfly mask. Made even worse by the fact that the former's V-necked pretty much down to his abdomen.
* StuffBlowingUp: His Busou Renkin, Near Death Happiness, takes the form of a pair of giant butterfly wings made of gunpowder that he can control and blow up at will.
* TeenGenius: He discovered the secrets of alchemy to such an extent that he was able to create ''homunculi.''
* ThisIsMyNameOnForeign: ''Chou'' means butterfly in Japanese (the full surname would translate to "butterfly field") and Papillon is the French word for butterfly.
* TrouserSpace: He likes hiding things in the crotch of his jumpsuit a ''little'' too much. Of coruse, not having any pockets might have something to do with it.

[[folder:Captain Bravo]]
-->Voiced by: Creator/MasashiEbara (JP), Creator/PatrickSeitz (EN)

A captain of the Alchemist Warriors that Kazuki and Tokiko work for, Captain Bravo gives them advice and help on many occasions.
* AntiVillain: [[spoiler: Post-FaceHeelTurn.]]
* BadassLongCoat: It's one of his special powers.
* CallingYourAttacks: BRAVO!!! ______!!!
* CatchPhrase: It's all in his name.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: His Renkin, Silver Skin, only helps his defense, all his earth shattering punches and acrobatics come from hard work and dedication.
* TheCharmer: Bravo Secret Art! Captain Bravo...Kiss!
* CollaredByFashion: When wearing his coat.
* [[spoiler:FaceHeelTurn: It doesn't last forever though]].
* TheGoodCaptain: He's very much a noble leader figure who cares for those under his charge. [[spoiler: Even when ordered to terminate a transformed Kazuki, he's clearly not happy about it, and is relieved when Kazuki manages to overcome him in their second battle.]]
* GoodOldFisticuffs: His Busou Renkin is armor, so he just kicks ass with his bare hands.
* [[spoiler:HeroicSacrifice: It may not have been needed to a BigDamnHeroes, but it was still very cute.]]
* LargeHam: Very, very hammy.
-->[[GratuitousEnglish YES! I AM!]]
* MrFanservice: Ripped, handsome, kind, charming, energetic, badass and protective of children.
* MyGreatestFailure: The attack on Tokiko's school, of which she was the SoleSurvivor.
* NiceHat: His silver hat.
* NighInvulnerable: He has a regenerating invincible coat.
* PapaWolf: Threaten kids in his presence, and he immediately gets serious.
* RatedMForManly: Just about ''everything'' he does.
* RuleOfCool: His main creed. "[[CatchPhrase Why? 'Cause it's cooler that way]]!"
* StoneWall: He tries to compensate for having a purely defensive Busou Renkin with impressive barehanded-combat skills, but the fact remains that he's better at taking hits than dishing them out.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: Considering that he specializes in unarmed close combat, it's not that surprising that he pulls off some wrestling moves, like an Octopus Stretch and an Argentinean Backbreaker.

[[folder:Captain Hiwatari]]
-->Voiced by: Creator/TomokazuSeki (JP), Creator/KyleHebert (EN)

Another Alchemist Warrior, who's called in to deal with [[BigBad Victor]] and [[spoiler: Kazuki's black Kakugane]], [[JerkAss total dick]]. [[PlayingWithFire Likes fire]].
* BloodKnight: Loves burning people, doesn't matter who.
* ColonelKilgore: As befitting someone whose Busou Renkin manifests as a super-powered flamethrower, he gets a twisted thrill out of battle.
* DrillSergeantNasty: Loves calling his minions ladies, or whacking them when they get on his nerves.
* FreudianExcuse: It's doubtful he was ever nice, but his BloodKnight and GeneralRipper tendencies really came to the fore after the massacre in Tokiko's school, much like with Captain Bravo. Both were deeply affected by that event: Bravo became near suicidal in his desire to protect others; while Hiwatari concluded, "Screw this, the world is insane anyway; we might as well be crazy, too".
* GeneralRipper: The notion that Kazuki Muto - up to this point, a NiceGuy and devoted Alchemist warrior - could be [[spoiler: cured of his Victor III status]] is irrelevant to him.
* HiddenDepths: Despite his condescending nature, he genuinely likes Bravo. And, as it turns out, he became the way he is because of the massacre at Tokiko's school.
* HotBlooded: As befitting someone who likes to KillItWithFire.
* KillItWithFire: A ''lot'' of fire, thanks to his Busou Renkin.
* MyGreatestFailure: Like Captain Bravo, he was deeply ashamed of the massacre in Tokiko's school.
* NukeEm: His Busou Renkin, Blaze of Glory, is a napalm bomb.
* SuperPowerLottery: Oh god yes. Flight, regeneration and [[PlayingWithFire fire control]] are vast understatements of his ability.
* TokenEvilTeammate: Seems the worst out of all the Alchemist Warriors. His friendship with Bravo is genuine, though. And when the decision is made to [[spoiler: abandon the orders to terminate Kazuki in favor of focusing on Victor]], he ultimately goes along with it.
* WalkingShirtlessScene: With a {{Sarashi}}.

[[folder:Gouta Nakamura]]
-->Voiced by: Creator/ShinjiKawada (JP), Creator/LiamOBrien (EN)

A rookie Alchemist Warrior that was apprenticed by Tokiko. Fell in love with her when she gave him a reason to become an Alchemist Warrior. Strongly dislikes Kazuki at first, not just because of jealousy, but also because Tokiko puts herself at danger to help him. Uses Gear Chakram.
* FragileSpeedster: Can use his Renkin, Motor Gear, as roller-skates to move at high speeds. However, he's still no more durable than an average person.
* GuestStarPartyMember: Only appears in the second part of the series, but is one of the main characters from then on.
* HeelFaceTurn: Decides to quit hunting down Kazuki for Tokiko's sake. This does progress into an actual friendship, even if not an easy one.
* HotForTeacher: Tokiko was his mentor.
* IJustWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Eventually. It's noted that he actually becomes more mature when he stops dwelling on his feelings for Tokiko.
* WeakButSkilled: Takes down a lot of people with his relatively weak abilities using his brains and speed.
* WrongGenreSavvy: Thinks that he's the RomanticFalseLead and [[BettyAndVeronica Veronica]] between Kazuki and Tokiko, but he really isn't; Tokiko does like him, but not in any romantic way, while Kazuki is completely oblivious to their "rivalry" and talks about what great friends they are. Kind of veers into AllLoveIsUnrequited territory.

[[folder:Victor Powered]]
-->Voiced by: Creator/RikiyaKoyama (JP), Creator/YuriLowenthal (EN)

An ancient alchemist who was given a Black Kakugane in place of his heart in order for him to survive. This [[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity granted him amazing strength, durability, and the abilities of flight and regeneration, but also drove him mad.]] Uses an axe.
* AnAxeToGrind: His Busou Renkin manifests as a jagged, lightning-bolt shaped version of a war axe.
* AwesomeMcCoolname: Seriously, read his name out loud.
* BigBad: He wants to destroy everything related to alchemy, and his states as a WalkingWasteland means that he's a threat to the world just by ''existing.''
** AntiVillain: That being said, he's got some ''serious'' motivations for being the way he is, and when it's proven that the Alchemist Warriors are willing to go to great lengths to retrieve Kazuki, he abandons his duel with him to help return him to his friends and family.
* EvilCounterpart: To Kazuki.
* FreudianExcuse: Not only did being infused with the Black Kakugane lead to the death of his wife, but then [[spoiler: the Alchemist Army went and turned his own daughter into a Homunculus and sent her after him]]. It's hard to blame him for deciding that anything related to alchemy needed to be destroyed.
* GravityMaster: The ability of his Busou Renkin, Fatal Attraction. [[AllThereInTheManual Can create a black hole at full power.]]
* HadesShaded: Becoming infused with the Black Kakugane turned his skin a deep bronze. His human form is much paler.
* MadeOfIron: Took the attacks from missiles and five separate Busou Renkins [[spoiler: powered by a giant robot]] without a scratch. [[spoiler: Of course, the fact that he was using a giant body double formed from all the sea life he'd drained probably had something to do with it]].
* PersonOfMassDestruction: His status as a WalkingWasteland aside, his Fatal Attraction lets him hand out absurdly high levels of crushing damage.
* WalkingWasteland: Unlike other Homunculi, he doesn't need to eat, per se - he just absorbs life energy out of anything in the vicinity. To make matters worse, it's like breathing to him; even if he wanted to stop it, he can't.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Wants to destroy all things related to alchemy because [[spoiler: the Alchemist Army turned his daughter into a Homunculus and sent her out to kill him.]]
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: Possibly implied. While he never says that he'd destroy the LXE outright, his declaration that he'd destroy anything related to alchemy possibly extends to destroying Homunculi.

[[folder:Moon Face]]
-->Voiced by: Creator/TomokazuSeki (JP), Creator/ChristopherCoreySmith (EN)

Originally named Lunare Nikolaev, Moon Face is a homunculus with a moon-shaped head and a higher-up of LXE He is depicted as constantly cheerful, rarely seen without smiling, and he uses the catch phrase "Moon~" whenever possible. [[spoiler: After LXE is defeated, Moon Face is put into custody by the Alchemy Warriors, and later sent to the Moon with Victor and the other homunculi.]] Moon Face joined the LXE a hundred years before the start of the series, when he came from Russia to Japan for reasons unknown.
* AffablyEvil: He's remarkably polite and welcoming to friend and foe alike, even when announcing his killing intent. He also believes that Papillon could be a useful addition to the LXE's attack forces, even when Dr. Butterfly is dismissive of the idea.
* AgentPeacock: While not as blatant as Papillon, Moon Face opts for a rather flamboyant tuxedo and a moon-faced visage. He's still a dangerous adversary.
* DoppelgangerAttack: The ability of his Buso Renkin, Satellite 30.
* GracefulLoser: Once defeated by Bravo, he acquiesces to the latter's request for information on the LXE's operations.
* HeroKiller: Though he doesn't kill any of the major characters, he killed one of the Alchemist Warriors under Bravo's command.
* MeaningfulName:
** His head looks like a moon his name is also a play on "moon phase", which refers to his Buso Renkin's ability to create a duplicate representing every phase of the moon during a month.
** His original name also counts, being similar to "lunar", meaning "of the moon".
* MesACrowd: His Busou Renkin, Satellite 30, allows him to create multiple versions of himself. And they're ''all'' the real thing, so they need to be destroyed before any one of them can replicate again.
* NamesTheSame: He is ''not'' the Creator/EnidBlyton character.
* NumberTwo: To Dr. Butterfly. He'd be TheDragon, but Dr. Butterfly already fills this role to Victor.
* SlasherSmile: He's often seen with a wide, cheery grin.
* ShoutOut: Watsuki stated that he got the idea of Satellite 30 from the character Agent Smith from The Matrix Reloaded.
* VerbalTic: "Moo~n!"

[[folder:Dr. Butterfly]]
-->Voiced by: Katsumi Chou (JP), David Lodge (EN)

Around a century ago back when Bakushaku Chouno was a normal human, new sciences and technologies were flooding in from all over the world. One of them was alchemy which most people dismissed as charlatanry, however Bakushaku sensed there was more to it and so he began to delve into its mysteries. To his disappointment he found that there were limits to how far he could go on his own. His studies had consumed a fortune and years of his life went by until he discovered the homunculi and the Kakugane which led him to a dead end. However, not long after he met Victor Powered, a traitor of the alchemist warriors, the two then joined forces. Victor was severely injured so in exchange for his knowledge of alchemy, Bakushaku promised to heal him when he had finished his research.

At some point later Bakushaku became a humanoid homunculus and discarded his identity, now calling himself Dr. Butterfly. He then went on to found the L.X.E.
* AnimalMotif: The Moth, despite being called Dr. Butterfly - Papillon describes him as this, for becoming a lesser type of Homunculus despite knowing of Victor's superior form.
* AntagonistAbilities: His Busou Renkin qualifies, being capable of jamming electronics and shrouding a region in fog to prevent the outside world from interfering with his plans. Plus he can also focus its effect to create powerful illusions, or screw with his foe's perceptions.
* BadassGrandpa: Being in his elder years hasn't slowed him down much.
* BadassMoustache: [[spoiler:Which is either fake, or the last part of him to dissolve after his death]].
* TheDragon: To Victor.
** DragonInChief: He's the one calling the shots in the LXE, due to Victor going through an extensive recuperation process after his past battles with the Alchemist Army.
* EvilOldFolks: He's got no qualms with letting the Homunculi under his command devour a high school's worth of teenagers.
* LightIsNotGood: His costumes invoke a lot of white, but he's arguably even worse than Papillon.
* ManInWhite: He favors a white lab coat. And later, when going into battle, a white bodysuit and matching cape.
* MasterOfIllusion: His Busou Renkin, Alice in Wonderland, is capable of creating illusions that can break the psyche of his victims.
* PetTheDog: Despite dismissing Papillon as an incomplete Homunculus, he nonetheless expresses a desire to protect him while discussing the matter with Moon Face. [[spoiler: He gets over it when Papillon openly rebels, and tries to kill him]].
* OffingTheOffspring: He tries to kill Papillon, his great-great-grandson, when the latter turns against him. [[spoiler: It gets inverted when Papillon ends up killing ''him'']].
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: Despite seeming less flamboyant than his great-great-grandson, Papillon, he wears the same kind of skintight jumpsuit as Papillon when going into battle.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Victor. The whole reason he founded the League of eXtraordinary Elect was to marshall the resources needed to heal him.
* VillainousFriendship: While it's ambiguous whether Victor ultimately saw him as a friend or loose end to be tied up once he healed, Dr. Butterfly was quite genuine in his loyalty.
