* ArcherArchetype: {{Averted|Trope}}. Although she's certainly skilled with a bow and arrow, she's less calm and composed and more of a FieryRedhead.

* HorseArcher: Merida's contest of choice is archery because she is an ace with a bow and arrow. She can even hit a perfect bullseye while on horseback. She doesn't share the calmness and self-possession that usually comes with ArcherArchetype role, instead matching the untamed power of the horse.

* TheGenieKnowsJackNicholson: She is a magic user (a witch rather than a genie, but she does play the role of a LiteralGenie.) She doesn't make any specific pop culture references, but the pre-recorded message in her cauldron intentionally invokes an automated attendant in a modern-day phone call, with Merida having to pour a numbered vial of potion into the cauldron in place of pushing a phone button. Merida is understandably confused, since this is a reference to something way ahead of the movie's setting.
** Amusingly, one of the few non-bear carvings in her workshop is a [[CompanyCrossReferences Pizza Planet Truck]]. A modified 1978 truck meant for delivering pizzas certainly won’t exist until many centuries later.

Their sons aren't too keen either and it's implied that they're just letting their dads make the choice for them. Suggesting that the marriage would've been doomed from the start.

* PeekABangs: His hair covers one of his eyes. It's part of the PrettyBoy effect.

* OverprotectiveDad: When he sees the bear whom he mistakenly thinks killed Elinor (but is actually Queen Elinor magically changed into a bear), he panics and locks Merida in a room, for fear of losing her and Elinor. He also shouts that none of the three suitors are worthy of Merida.

* BadassBaritone: Has a deep voice and is a giant of a man, on top of being very badass.

* UglyGuyHotWife: Provides the page image with Fergus -- she has preserved her looks and her figure quite well for a greying mother of four (including triplets!). But he... remains strong and in excellent condition. It's justified as theirs was an arranged marriage, but it seemed to [[PerfectlyArrangedMarriage work out okay]] (and, considering how young Merida is expected to marry, it isn't impossible that Elinor is only in her thirties).
