A retired gorilla General who finds himself caught up in a vast conspiracy theory in the events of the first series, eventually leading a human rebellion against Ape City when he learns of the true history of ape civilization.
  • Expy: Can be seen as one for Attar, Michael Clarke Duncan's character from the 2001 remake.
  • Every Scar Has a Story: He lost his eye after surviving an avalanche in the mountains while visiting an Orangutan Monastery. Where he learned of the lost Lawgiver scroll that said Apes and Humans should be treated as equals.
  • Eyepatch of Power: He sports an eyepatch due to a scar he got back in his younger days and is a highly-respected war hero.
    • Following his death, his eyepatch becomes a symbol for a small religious sect of apes who believe in humans and apes being treated as equal
  • Gentle Gorilla: He's no pushover in the slightest but he averts the trend of the portrayal of gorillas in the classic films. He tries to rein the bloodthirsty impulses of his subordinates and is good friends with the orangutan Cato and chimpanzee Prisca.
  • Rebel Leader: In Exile, he's leading a human La RĂ©sistance against Ape City, hoping to bring true equality between humans and apes.
  • Retired Badass: By the start of the series he's retired from service, but he's able to hold his own in a fight and eventually leads a full on rebellion against Ape City.

A chimpanzee student of the elderly Cato and friend of Aleron. Much like the former General, she finds herself caught up in the conspiracy of the events of the first series.
  • Animal Wrongs Group: How she's perceived by the rest of ape society by Cataclysm, where she leads the pro-human Anti-Vivisection Society. Prisca however states later she doesn't actually care all that much about humans. She's just trying to honor Aleron's dream/final request.
  • The Cynic: By Cayaclysm she's become this after her experiences in the previous two series.

The leader of the Orangutan Council.
  • Asshole Victim: After organizing the assassination of Cato and his other dictatorial actions, no one's particularly mourning when Tern kills him.
  • Big Bad: Of Betrayal Of The Planet Of The Apes.
  • Erudite Orangutan:
  • Predecessor Villain: He plays essentially the same role Zaius did in the first film and is the one who shows Zaius the secret history of the planet.
  • Villainous Legacy: The events and character plots in Exile and Cataclysm can all be tied back to his actions. Him becoming a mentor figure to Zaius also setups the role Zaius will play in the film series.

  • Riding into the Sunset: Well, more like sailing. By the end of Exile, he leads his family and the escaping humans on boats off into the Atlantic Ocean in search of a new home.
  • Uplifted Animal: One by the standards of humans during this time. His owner, Cato, taught him how to communicate via sign language.
