The Shadowed
A faction of undead creatures from the Outer Darkness that were created when Anaximanes Ravenhust died and became the being known as The Anax. Now at his service, they follow his orders and mysterious motives to assimilate more into their numbers.- Karmic Transformation: Some of the transformations of people corrupted by the Shadowed are related to their phobias. If they're afraid of heights they will grow wings, if the don't like spiders they will get an eight-leged abdomen, etc.
- Sickly Green Glow: The secondary color that they wear and ties them thematically to their leader.
- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: One of the ways people end up corrupted into the faction is by The Anax or one of his minions exploiting their phobias.

The leader of the faction. Created from a series of circumnstances surrounding the death of Anaximanes Ravenhust during Halloween many centuries ago.- Casting a Shadow: A spirit that can blend in the darkness and control shadows.
- Living Shadow: The returned spirit of a man transformed into an undead creature that manipulates shadows from the Outer Darkness.
- Sickly Green Glow: Beside black, the only other color that predominates The Anax's body is a supernaturally glowing green. It allows people to see where The Anax is currently if they are hiding from him during the night.

A woman that went to Ghost Nook and ended up being corrupted by The Anax.- Love Martyr: Brittany's girlfriend and a victim of abuse at her hands. Even when Evelyn tries to disuade her at the beginning of Call of the Cursed One, Angela doesn't listen and continues the relationship during the events of that novel.

To add insult to injury, during the confrontation with The Anax when the spectre had cornered Evelyn, he uses an illusion to make her fire at her friends instead.

The ghost of a woman and an ancestor of Brittany, Evelyn and Katelyn that reamined hidden on Ghost Nook with her own sister that and ended up being corrupted by The Anax.- Barred from the Afterlife: She and her sister are ghost haunting the island, and are unable to move on to the afterlife. This ends up being their eventual doom, as The Anax finds them the same night of Halloween when Evelyn and her group arrive on Ghost Nook.

Monstrous hounds from Tartarus corrupted by The Anax.- Hellhound: They're dog-like beasts natural to the frequency of Tartarus in the Outer Darkness that were transformed into serving The Anax.
