Characters / Abysmal Souls

Go To

The land of Abysmal Souls follows the laws of Medieval RP and has a wide array of characters brought together for what appears to be no apparent reason.

The lead of our story is Carrion, the infamous Crimson Witch, accompanied by Adrian, the Powerless Boy Wonder. Various members of the cast have accompanied them along the way, with many joining, leaving and even rejoining.

Main Cast

Carrion

Otherwise known as the Crimson Witch. Hated throughout the land, she spends much of her time fleeing for her life or being attacked by everyone and their aunt Petunia - something that she'd rather not have. A specialist in fire magic, her power is virtually unmatched in the land of Abysmal Souls... well, other than her temper and ego.

Very much joined at the hip with Adrian, a young man she's blown up and revived but also taken a liking to. Her relationships with other characters aren't quite as friendly, especially with the likes of Zwool and Grant.

  • Magical Girlfriend: She's a witch who's influence changed the ordinary Adrian's life forever.
  • Misblamed: In-Universe, she's wrongfully blamed for evil deeds since they appear to be caused by her. Including bandit attacks and even mass murder.
  • Playing with Fire: She isn't called the Crimson Witch for nothing. Her specialization is fire magic, and her power is virtually unmatched.
  • Older Than They Look: Carrion looks much younger than her actual age due to resurrecting herself.

Adrian

Carrion's other half. Originally a poor village boy wanting to become a chef. Sporting a long lost sister and a troubled past, his meeting with Carrion changed his life for good. Whilst not a fantastic fighter, his cooking is generally pretty good. Unlike most guys in the cast, he's pretty level-headed and often supports his beloved Carrion.

Usually looking for a reasonable solution, Adrian's mild nature puts him on good terms with most members of the cast. However, his patience does has its limits, again as a response to Grant and Zwool's constant attacks.

  • Badass Normal: Sporting no special abilities other than being able to cook, he's survived far more than the ordinary man. He's even exploded and returned from the dead once!
  • Team Dad: He's the resident chef and the most level-headed of the group, preferring to seek reasonable solutions rather than getting in over his head.

Ormis

The wild "child" of the group. Practicing swordplay from a young age, his skills are surprisingly sharp for someone so young. Originally the son of merchants, he had managed to lose track of his family after an ego-driven brawl. Whilst initially quite hostile towards Carrion, by the time of the tournament arc, he decided that she wasn't all that bad. Another notable feature is his awful sense of direction, resulting in him unintentionally meeting up with Aurelio's group again in chapter 5.

Ormis' rash nature has put him at odds with other members of the cast, Grant disapproving of his lack of foresight and causing many facepalms during the tournament arc. However, he's struck up a friendly rivalry with Arcen and a bizarre brotherly relationship with Aurelio. Initially striking it off with Amera, things didn't quite work out for him.

  • Directionless Driver: Ormis was certain he knew Pravna well. It turns out he had never set foot there and ended up taking his group in circles, ending up in the complete opposite direction.
  • Large Ham: He's wild, egotistical, and his eagerness for capes will be the death of him.

Amera

Amera joined the group after randomly appearing on the mountain that they were traversing. Her cheerful, childlike attitude forces smiles all around. She's fully capable of holding her own, and even possesses some power over Thunder magic. Whilst not the brightest of people, her persistence and expressiveness often see her through.

Amera's nature makes it very difficult to dislike her. Initially embarrassed around some of the guys, Amera later toyed with Ormis but then settled with Gideon.

  • Cat Girl: Amera seems awfully fond of being scratched behind the ear.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: She was once an Anri slave, and was orphaned by the time that she found her freedom.
  • The Pollyanna: Despite being an orphan with a past in slavery, Amera is relentlessly cheerful and chipper.

Allies of Carrion

Aurelio

Hearing that a pink haired witch was on the prowl, Aurelio rushed to find Carrion, hoping it was his long lost sister. Finding it wasn't the case, he chased after her, looking for answers. He's slowly opened up to the group, however, he's not on the good side of either Arcen or Elune, and initially rubbed the wrong way with Adrian.

Whilst getting close to Lucretia early on, very little happened until after the tournament, after which the pair, along with her father, began traveling together. He's also embarrassed Amera as well as oogled Giselle. His "borrowing" is also worth mention.

  • Badass Normal: He has no magical abilities to speak of, but his handiwork with an axe and a sword are both quite impressive.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Whilst fairly rough and even aggressive at first, he gradually opened up and formed friendships with Ormis, Adrian, and later Teis.
  • Right Under Their Noses: Aurelio has spent the previous decade roaming the continent, trying to find his sister, only to find that she'd been near Pravna, the last place he had visited before his first appearance.

Lucretia

Enter Lucretia, the sword-wielding pacifist. Raised by her psychopath mother, eventually she ran away, fearing for her life. Turning up before the Snow Chameleon episode, she fought them off with far less trouble from the rest of the group. She later fought and killed her mother, later finding her father. Rather quiet and reserved, Lucretia seems to only really confide in those she trusts.

Being the quiet One, it's difficult to judge her. However, she is very close to her newly found father and is also rather fond of Aurelio.

  • The Quiet One: She didn't speak much early on, but she's opened up slightly as she's gotten to know the cast.
  • The Runaway: She ran away from her phone to escape from her crazed mother, who causes her to fear for her life.

Adano

Lucretia's long lost father. Barely able to walk thanks to an injury from his wife, he ventured around the country, hoping to find his daughter. ItsASmallWorldAfterAll and he finds her partaking in a tournament. With Anastasia dead and Lucretia found, his efforts have been directed towards Aurelio's search.

Whilst his mobility is limited, he can still put up a fight with his lance.

  • Career-Ending Injury: An impressive fighter in his younger days, his career ended after his wife, and Lucretia's mother, Anastasia, went mad and crippled him.
  • Cool Old Guy: He's significantly older than the cast, and they all look up to him. He has both the admiration of his daughter as well as the respect of Aurelio.
