Bluffing the Eavesdropper in Fan Works.
Crossovers
- In the Buffy the Vampire Slayer/Power Rangers Lost Galaxy crossover New Blood, Mike Corbett finds a listening device in the Sunnydale High library. He and the Scoobies then make all their plans in the hallway outside the library (or in Giles's house), and discuss fake plans in the library in order to throw the listeners off.
- In A.A. Pessimal's Gap Year Adventures, Assassins Horst Lensen and Mariella Smith-Rhodes are "administrative detention" by the local police in Rimwards Howondaland. Horst, who has just been searched, loudly apologises to Mariella that all his weapons and equipment have been discovered and taken away. Aware Mariella has not been searched yet as the local police cannot find any qualified female personnel to conduct a search, they conduct a second conversation in Assassin sign-language and finger-code in which Horst suggests it would be a good idea if she slips him some of hers, so that one of them has some weapons available.
- In Three to Backstep, the titular trio (Harry, Hermione, and Daphne) find listening charms in their private quarters, apparently placed by Dumbledore and/or Snape. Part of their response involves playing an Ear Worm into one, choosing "I'm Henry the Eighth, I Am". Another gets a buzzing mosquito. The one that best fits this trope is the Paranoia Gambit, with one listening point picking up graphic discussion of plotting the murders of staff members.
- Juleka vs. the Forces of the Universe: After Chat Noir is Caught on Tape harassing Ladybug, with her making clear that she's not interested in any kind of Relationship Upgrade and just wants him to stop already, Alya tries to spin it as though the pair were aware that they were being recorded the whole time and were trying to hide their 'secret relationship'. This is nothing more than desperate self-justification on Alya's part, as she ships Ladynoir and refuses to reconsider her stance in light of this new information.
- In the NSFW doujin, Spy x Sex, jealous that Loid married Yor, Yuri hid several microphones in the Forgers' apartment to gather evidence that Loid is a bad husband and use the recordings to have Loid executed, while Loid is more concerned Yuri's trying to expose him as Twilight. Since he can't destroy Yuri's microphones or use Frankie's jammer without blowing his cover, Loid activates the jamming device after asking Yor to sleep with him (Loid assumed Yuri would freak out, turn off his receiver, allowing him to destroy the microphones and Yuri would blame it on equipment failure), explaining to her that it's strange for a married couple to not have such relations, but Yor gets scared and locks herself in her room. When Loid apologizes for pressuring her to have sex, because a breakup would jeopardize Operation Strix, Yor allows him into her room and he sees her wearing sexy lingerie, explaining that Camilla told her he would leave her if he felt sexually unsatisfied and they share Their First Time together as a married couple. In the end, both men get more than they bargained for. After Loid notices the jammer had run out of power, Yuri is shown crying inconsolably after listening to his beloved older sister going at it with her husband, and the narrating text says he couldn't go to work the next day (Loid was too distracted having sex with Yor to get rid of the microphones). When Loid decides to call it an evening and go back to his room, since he was ready for just for a romp or two, Yor pins him down on the bed and makes him keep going for the whole night, and the narrating text mentions Loid wasn't able to go to work the next day either.
