Say what you will about Disney's straight-to-video sequels, this is one of the better ones and has a soundtrack to prove it.
- "We Are One" fits the movie perfectly. The instrumental reprise at the finale is a beautiful woodwind piece that really hammers the film's message home.
- Angelique Kidjo's cover of the song, featuring lyrics in the Fon language (click here to see the translations of said new lyrics) is sure to set your heart soaring.
- "He Lives in You", which is also in the Broadway version, is amazing. The uncut version is also a treat. And for as universally detested as The Lion King (2019) is among both critics and audiences, it was definitely a treat to hear the song come back for the credits, this time recorded in isiXhosa.
- "My Lullaby," Zira's Villain Song, is the perfect declaration of war and vengeance. The German version outdoes the original as well, especially in the cruelty department. Just listen to the beautiful voice of pure hatred.
- "Not One Of Us" is equal parts painful, epic and catchy. A small detail, but an impressive one nonetheless, is the bass part sung by a hippo.
- "Upendi". Robert Guillaume shows off some impressive singing in this upbeat song.
- "Love Will Find a Way" (featuring the always stellar Liz Callaway as Kiara), a song that rides on the movie's themes of love winning even when the odds are stacked against it, and the obligatory End Credits version.
- Nick Glennie Smith wrote a wonderful score for the film (which, unfortunately, isn't available for download or purchase) that pays homage to Hans Zimmer's work, but emphasizes that this story centers on a new generation. He similarly manages to make the new soundtrack incredibly appealing, as several of the orchestral tracks are very catchy.
