Awesome / The Monstrous Duke's Adopted Daughter

  • From chapter three on, Leslie decides she's had enough of being treated like shit and starts standing up to the Speràdos and taking charge of her own life. One of the standouts is when Marquis Speràdo yells at her for calling him out on his crap, and what does Leslie say in return? "Why don't you jump in the fire yourself?" Talk about Took a Level in Badass!
  • The entire Noble Trial is this for the Salvators and Konrad. The former do all they can to gather as much concrete evidence on the Speràdos and their atrocities as possible, tearing apart the Marquis' lies like paper. They refuse to back down, no matter how angry the Marquis gets. Konrad is the one who basically saved Leslie in the end, by not only undermining the spell the High Priest placed on her by taking the pain she'd experience onto himself, but even manages to come up with a convincing argument that could explain Leslie's dark magic flaring up at her exposure to the High Priest's holy magic beforehand. Later, when Marquis Speràdo loses the trial, Leslie tells him off for everything he did to her. Marquis Speràdo attempts to attack her, but Mama Bear that she is, Duchess Salvator stops him and threatens to break him if he so much as lays a hand on her. The entire arc is just made of awesome.
  • For a darker example, Medea's immediate reaction when she returns to her manor after endearing herself to Ellie. For as ambitious and cruel as she is, she succinctly proceeds to calmly state her opinion of Ellie, expressing what many people have wanted to say about the lady for years.
Servant: (Medea enters her home.) Welcome back. How was Speràdo? She was easy to tame considering her pride is dead, right?
Medea: (Medea takes off the top layer of her clothing looking disgusted, and as her servant reaches to take it, Medea drops it.)
    Servant: Empress Dowager?
Medea: Throw it away. Someone dirty touched it, so I can't use it anymore.
Servant: Then I will burn it...
Medea: No. We can't get anything ominous on you, so get someone else to burn it.
