Awesome / The Invisible Man (2020)

• How does Cecilia get the upper hand on the Invisible Man for the first time? By pretending she's going to slash her wrists and then repeatedly stabbing him when he grabs her to stop her. This cripples the invisibility suit's functionality.
  Cecilia: FUCK YOU!
  • And even more so? After she damaged his suit, as the hospital workers begin to take her again to her room (assuming she escaped), they instead run into the Invisible Man, whose suit is flickering. Cue Curb-Stomp Battle to all of them, even to the cops.
  • Easy to overlook, but Cecilia waits for a couple of days before enacting her plan, even though she already has the pen and the chewing gum she needs. Why? She checks the weather and waits for a day with heavy rain. The suit might be invisible, but it's still solid, and even if you can't see it, you can see the rain on it (something that is actually foreshadowed by the opening titles), meaning that even without the suit glitching, he cannot just run away or stalk her without being seen. And it actually works, slowing him down and upsetting him, forcing him to resort to his plan B. Cecilia is overall shown through the movie to be a smart person in a bad situation and with a terrible disadvantage, but here is shown her ability to think ahead and her starting to think further than Adrian.
• The ending. Oh, lord, the ending. How does Cecilia finally put an end to Adrian's tyranny? She goes to the bathroom during her meeting with Adrian at his house, puts on the Invisibility suit, and then makes Adrian hold up the knife he was using and slashes his throat. She then taunts Adrian as he's lying on the floor dying by stripping off the suit out of sight of the security camera. She killed him the same way he killed her sister. Death by Irony can be so sweet. Even better, she taunts him with the same thing he told her after getting her locked up in a mental hospital.
  "Surprise."
  • Best part? Everyone will now believe Adrian killed himself (save for James). Cecilia is completely free of suspicion and can live the rest of her life free from Adrian's awful presence. Amazing.
  • There is another level of subtle (and awesome) irony: after killing Adrian, Cecilia makes a show of her coming back and be shocked by the discovery. She then casually walks away, where she knows the camera won't see her, regains her composure and gives Adrian the Ironic Echo in a way she knows won't be caught by the recorder. Adrian tormented her by making her the only one able to see him and framing her for his crimes, and he dies knowing he will be the only one seeing the truth about what happened.
• Cecilia's "Reason You Suck" line to Tom: "You're just the 'jellyfish version' of him [Adrian] – everything but the spine."
• Cecilia shows up as the Invisible Man is about to kill Sydney. At this point, you’re probably expecting a climactic battle, but nope. She just paints him with a fire extinguisher and immediately empties a clip in to him.
