- For starters, the costumes and set design alone are some of the most awesome things Starlight Express has.
- Greaseball and Electra were practically designed to be as awesome as possible, to contrast with small and homely Rusty.
- So many songs in this musical have their moments of awesomeness.
- 'Rolling Stock' and 'Pumping Iron'- Greaseball's most prominent numbers- are filled with powerful instruments, vocals to die for, and a truly awesome presence that puts a lot of the other songs to shame.
- 'AC/DC'- Electra's introduction song- is full of confidence, swagger, crazy pitch shifts and awesome lighting and choreography.
- 'Coda of Freight'' has a few awesome moments. Rusty's growing confidence, the polyphony building up towards the coda, the massive chorus belting out 'Freight' near the end...
- 'Poppa's Blues', since it's the first time we as an audience really get to hear what the old steamer is capable of vocally, and damn if it isn't awesome.
- Rusty belting out that one line in 'Starlight Express' is a seriously awesome moment in an otherwise gentle song.Rusty: And if you're there, and if you know, then show me which way I should go!
- Despite their general awkward nature, each version of 'The Rap' has something awesome about it.
- The original version had Pearl talking back to Electra, who's almost always the one in charge:Pearl: Now that's not fair! What'll you prove if he ain't there?(general shouts of approval from the crowd)Greaseball: That's true! Okay, Pearl, I'm with you.Pearl (to Electra): Hey, you! Yes, you! Rusty can race you.
- The second version had Electra giving a whole lot of lip to Greaseball and it was glorious:Electra: Hey, Greaseball, I'm talkin' to you! You still got that Dinah hangin' on a lead? A new set of wheels is what you need...
- And the third and newest version had Electra killing it:Electra: I'm electric! I'm the winner! I'm the future, you? You're the past. Look at me, I'm clean, I'm powerful, I'm beautiful- and not to mention, I'm way too fast~!
- The original version had Pearl talking back to Electra, who's almost always the one in charge:
- 'C.B'/'Wide Smile, High Style' has a lot of awesome moments. C.B's octave jumps, skating stunts and general pride and confidence, just to name a few- not to mention, the fact that he manages to fool both Electra and Greaseball is an awesome feat in and of itself.
- Although the song is nothing too awesome on its own, the Rockies' tricks and stunts in 'Right Place, Right Time' make it an awesome spectacle to watch.
- When Poppa and Rusty are singing full blast in the 'Starlight Sequence', it's an incredibly awesome and powerful moment.
- 'No Comeback'. Although it was eventually cut from the show, there's nothing like watching an awesome character go out with a bang.Electra: EAT MY DUST!
