Luckily, they're in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, which they've researched ahead of time. Not knowing which steal challenge will come up first, Sam and Michelle position themselves equidistant from locations that could serve for either one, ultimately stealing the winning ticket by rushing to the one-time site of an Elvis concert.
Similarly, the gambit that wins Season 9 for Adam, which was to take a train as far as he could, and then sprint into the next town over, which meant that Sam and Ben blew his hiding location off as an 'unreachable' location and never came within ten miles of him before running out of time.note Adam knew an early question would be the "5 words and rhyming town" question that had become a clear opening strategy for the seekers, and the town he had run to (Steffisburg) did rhyme with one of these words. However, Sam and Ben assumed he couldn't get there within the time limit, and the train station he actually went to (Thun) didn't rhyme with any of the words (and didn't have to because it wasn't his nearest town at the time), meaning the seekers assumed they could eliminate it.
