Though very much non-canon, the ride brings us Shin King Ghidorah. Rather than look horrifying (although his sudden arrival in the already bad situation AND the possible level of power he has against both Godzilla and the EVAs), he looks like a death-metal version of his usual self. All hail the Golden Demise...
Also, Godzilla's fight with the EVAs is, of course, a Curb-Stomp Battle. The EVAs, however, are no worse for wear, though time may tell if that remains so for either of them.
Granted, they still got their butts kicked, but Shinji, Asuka, and Rei take on Godzilla—and survived. Granted, they didn't win, and that's mostly because Godzilla was really after King Ghidorah, but they survived with little, if at all any, damage to them and the EVAs and managed to put up a decent fight. This is especially impressive given the Godzilla they fought is the one from Shin Godzilla, one of the more horrifying incarnations of the creature. More to the point, though, while they didn't stop Godzilla, they did team up with him to stop Ghidorah, with Shinji even managing to stab the Golden Demise.
The final Beam-O-War between Shin Godzilla and King Ghidorah. The pulse-quickening music that builds up to the finale makes it all the more satisfying when the King of All Monsters breaks through and vaporizes his archenemy.
