Awesome / AOA

Go To

  • Whenever AOA Black plays fully live or members get to play their instrument, which is unfortunately rare now thanks to FNC. Some scavenging for videos of them playing on YouTube should convince doubtful people just how legit their skills are. The girls are a fake band, hey?
    • Special mention to Choa and Mina for learning their respective instruments much later than the others and still being able to keep up. Notably, Mina was the sole bassist, facing more pressure that Choa, who was second guitarist and thus able to focus more on her vocals while Jimin handled the lead guitar spot.
    • Youkyung's predebut drumming in Kim Se Hwang's showcase is quite impressive - one can only imagine how even better she is now that it's been a while and she's been training hard. It is a shame FNC never utilises her drumming properly nor showcase how well she can play, which has lead to people stupidly accusing her of fake-playing or being useless in AOA.
    • Their FNC Kingdom performances are especially noteworthy. Not only did they perform Get Out (sadly shortened) which sounded greater than usual, but they did a cover of AKB48's "Heavy Rotation" and sounded amazing, with all the members shining. Sadly the cover was not on the DVD for copyright reasons - and so only one AOA Black performance (which wasn't even of a full song) was left on it, in contrast to the dance unit's two full performances.
  • The fact that the group officially both played instruments and dance is this for people who aren't confused or put off by their hybrid concept.
  • Choa's power vocals got a lot of praise and are a favourite amongst both fans and non-fans. Even antis or whose who don't like the group will at least give her voice some credit.
  • Predebut Seolhyun winning the 8th Smart Model contest, where she did a dance cover to After School's Playgirlz. Her tearful response and proud parents' faces said it all.
  • The "Get Out" MV, which gives all members and both units roughly equal camera time and dresses them up as several female characters that promote empowerment of all sorts, ranging from Elle Woods to Juliet. Not to mention the song itself is a catchy song that brings out the best of both the band and the dance units, with cool band sounds and impressively in-sync dancing.
  • In the Moya MV, Choa calls out on the guy that cheated on her. The plot-twist on said guy is even better - it's not the handsome guy like the MV implies, but the comedian!
  • Moya selling much better and charting higher than previous singles and being their first song to score Number 1 music charts, which is a slap to the face to those who think the band is pointless/unsuccessful (though many of them stupidly tend to gloss over Moya's achievements and claim it failed completely).
  • Miniskirt topping and lingering on the music charts even months after its release, which is also a slap to the face to those who think the dance unit is pointless.
  • Their first music show win with Miniskirt - especially since it was the first and only time the song was nominated (sadly Seolhyun and Youkyung were not present).
  • Chanmi participating and making it to the final round of "Idol Dance Battle D-Style", and giving perhaps one of her best dance performances.
  • In the Short Hair MV when Hyejeong finally stands up to the annoying passenger.
  • Whenever they cover missing member's lines without trouble. Special mention goes to:
    • Chanmi and Jimin for covering Seolhyun's parts in the "Miniskirt" era.
    • Choa, Yuna and Mina for covering AOA White members in the band versions of "Elvis" and "Get Out".
