The Free Doctors for the NHS was the brainchild of Doctor Who fan Matt Holme who wanted to create an audio story to raise money for Britain's National Health Service during the Covid-19 pandemic. The story stars Matt as his own incarnation of the Doctor (dubbed the Shorts Doctor) who awakens in a hospital bed after a double-heart attack and is visited by some of his other selves. Other cast members include Thomas Ahearn as the Naked Doctor, Joe Nickless as the Boy Doctor, Matthew Rose as the First Doctor, Elliott Crossley as the Tenth Doctor and Jonathon Carley as the Third, War and Twelfth Doctors.
