The Birth of Venus is an oil painting by German history painter and etcher Eduard Steinbrück, completed in 1846.
Not to be confused with the Venus de Milo sculpture nor with the equally named paintings of Botticelli, Bouguereau and Cabanel.
The Birth of Venus provides examples of:
- The Burlesque of Venus: It's but one of many derivatives of the more famous Botticelli painting.
- Putto: Venus is surrounded by a trio of winged cherubs.
- Sex Goddess: It's a romanticized depiction the birth of the Roman Goddess of Love.
- The Three Faces of Eve: A charitable interpretation applies to all parties involved. The putti represent the "Playful and Innocent" (male toddlers or not), the trio of women are the Calm and Capable and Venus is the Hot and Sexy.
