Princess Minerva (プリンセス・ミネルバ) is an RPG video game created by Riverhillsoft (a company perhaps only known by developing the Japanese ports of Prince of Persia) in 1994. Originally for the PC-98, it was also released for the PC Engine in March 25, 1994, and for the Super Famicom in June 23, 1995. It's part of a multimedia franchise that includes an OVA, a manga and a serial novel. The OVA was released in May 1995 in Japan, and it was released in North America by A.D. Vision in September 1995.

The video game starts in a fantasy world in the country of Whistler, when the evil sorceress Dynastar dares Princess Minerva to try to rescue all the girls in the world, or else anyone will be turned into mindless monsters for her to conquer. So the Princess leaves with all of her eight personal female bodyguards to put an end to this menace. However, all of them get robbed of all money and belongings...

The OVA is a prequel that tells the story of how the eponymous Princess got to assemble her Amazon Brigade, just because she was bored. And also, her first encounter with Dynastar.

The Super Famicom game got an unofficial Fan Translation in December 2017.

Princess Minerva provides examples of:

  • Accidental Kidnapping: The villainess Dynastar sends her two henchwomen Orchid and Pyrocession to kidnap the titular princess, they end up nabbing her lady in waiting Blue Morris who was dressed as her so she can fight in a tournament, they gag her and stuff her into a sack, after opening the sack Dynastar realizes she’s not the princess and uses her as a hostage.
  • Bag of Kidnapping: Dynastar's henchwomen gag Blue Morris and stuff her, thinking her to be Minerva, in a sack per orders of their boss.
  • Dominatrix: Lachloa Valvis' fighter persona as Kamen Bondage is themed on a dominatrix. Equiped with a whip, leather clothes, mask, high heels, and Noblewoman's Laugh to boot.
  • Gag Sub: The english translation of the video game, which found every reason to avert repetitive dialogue... by adding anything but what was really said.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Dynastar tries to abduct the princess as part of a plot to abduct all the women in the world... and her henchwomen kidnap the only person in Minerva's court who was advising her not to fight Dynastar herself, and fail to abduct any of Minerva's bodyguards.
  • Prequel: The OVA serves as one for the Video Game.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Princess Minerva literally goes out and forms her own magical girl team to save the kingdom. Made doubly hilarious is that she was meant to be one of the people abducted in the first place!
  • Stripperiffic: Dynastar's outfit is a sheer, nude-colored body stocking with a few strategically-placed bits of armor and a cape.
  • Unexplained Accent: The traveling saleswoman and tournament fighter Lachloa Valvis is given a Brooklyn accent in the English dub.
  • Whip of Dominance: Lachloa wields one as Kamen Bondage, which is her fighter persona. She uses it for attacks, hold people in place, and assert her dominance.
