* CatSmile: While it never becomes too overt or silly, whenever one of the heroic female characters is really pleased with herself, her smile gets a little cat-like.

* BatmanGambit: [[spoiler: The Golden Tribe's master plan involved the five Nodos battling each other at maximum power, an absolutely catastrophic event that was required to release enough of the right energies to open a portal to another galaxy, allowing the other remaining Tribes to pass through. To that end they assigned Nodos to the Silver and Iron Tribes and had them war with each other.]]

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The spellings of many names in the (licensed) subtitled versions differ from the spellings you'll see on some fansubs.

* EnergyWeapon[=/=]BeamSpam: Artemia's specialty. Each is said to have the ability to destroy a ''planet'' and he can fire them at a machinegun-like rate.
** Energy Weapons are also used by pretty much everyone's ships, though there's not much explanation of just what those things ''are.'' In addition, the trails of the Iron Tribe's missiles also look like curvy lasers.
* EveryBodyLives: Averted. Even though all the named cast lives, we still get to see some {{Red Shirt}}s blown up during Nodos fights. Some {{Mauve Shirt}}s weren't lucky during Yuty La's rampage. Let's not forget how the Bronze and Silver tribe destroyed the earth.

* FailureIsTheOnlyOption: [[spoiler:Erymanthos attempts an in-universe form of SaveScumming by using TimeTravel to kill Bellcross at the points in time when the latter was most vulnerable... only to learn the hard way that he was [[YouCantFightFate protected by destiny]]. [[SuperpowerMeltdown Then the accumulated temporal energy blew up...]]]]

* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler: Despite the fact that the Silver Tribe's quest to KillAllHumans was largely his fault, Rome Ro survives without major injury and receives no explicit punishment, although he is clearly no longer completely sane in the end.]]

** Another example (in deep red) is every frenzied Heroic Tribe member: Their aura becomes red, they grow way stronger, and sometimes, well... Episode 25.

* RaisedByWolves, oddly enough, is really averted. Age certainly lacks most of the skills and education most civilized people would consider valuable, but he was in fact raised by the Golden Tribe (essentially, gods). In fact, he acts as a sort of WaifProphet on occasion, by informing others about the bits of the future that the Golden Tribe foretold to him.

** And the character design. A character who is a bit of a CloudCuckoolander, has incredible strength, a bit of a temper, and causes craploads of collateral damage whenever he fights? Yup, that's [[strike:Hercules]] Age.
** And the names of virtually all the characters. Dhianeila was the name of Hercules' third wife (the one who got kidnapped by a centaur and accidentally ended up killing him). Iolaous was Hercules' [[HoYay sidekick]] at one point. The Argonaut was the name of the ship that Hercules traveled on once (for all of five minutes, due to the apparent death of Iolaous). Lernaea was the location of where Hercules fought the hydra, and Karcinos was the name of a crab sent by Hera to help the hydra double-team Hercules (the fact that Lernaea oftentimes turns into a hydra when it fights Belcross makes it ''really'' obvious). Meleager and Atalanta were two other heroes who travelled on the Argo (though unusually, in the original they were a pair of StarCrossedLovers, a prince and a RaisedByWolves [[note]]Some stories say that a she-bear suckled and cared for Atalanta until hunters found and raised her.[[/note]] ActionGirl. Cerbius? Sounds a heck of a lot like Cerberus, the monster who was Hercules' final labor.
*** Someone wrote a story over at fanfiction.net that seems to homage Herakles' apocryphal Thirteenth Labor -- the one where a king invited the hero to sleep with all of his dozen daughters in one night, if he could. Being an innocent, ChasteHero of course, Age's "labor" is a little sillier.

* SpaceOpera: Very much so.

* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman[=/=]WhatMeasureIsANonCute[=/=]WhatMeasureIsAMook: When the human armada attacks the homeworld of the Bronze Tribe. The humans are horrified when they realize that they've essentially been ''carpet-bombing an alien mass nursery''.
** This is what makes it really work as an Aesop, It is one thing to kill soldiers during a war, but its quite another to target civilians.

* EarthShatteringKaboom: [[spoiler:well, Jupiter-shattering anyway.]]

* NeglectfulPrecursors: Before leaving, the Golden Tribe only left a series of vague prophecies and guidelines to the other races, and allowed the galaxy to descend into either chaos, or tyranny under the Silver Tribe. The only one who seemed to have a greater idea of what they had in mind was Age, and even he only hd a vague sense.

* WouldBeRudeToSayGenocide: Averted when the Iron Tribe attacks the Bronze Tribe, and after wiping out their defense fore, raze half the planet and its inhabitants. Most of the humans are disgusted, and horribly guilt ridden by the act (with the notable exception of the already established JerkAss princes), and anyone who tries to offer some kind of justification is quickly shot down.

* ShoutOut: To Myth/GreekMythology. First off, the title itself. Secondly, the concept of a near-perfect "golden race", a less perfect "silver race", a [[{{Mook}} more violent "bronze race"]], and a plucky "iron race". Then there's the whole idea of the 12 Labors that [[strike:Hercules]] Age must fulfill.

* AbsoluteCleavage: Prome O and Nilval Nephew. Prome's outfit seems to be wholly reliant on BarbieDollAnatomy to avoid showing anything inappropriate.

* FormFittingWardrobe: Standard issue for the Iron Tribe's military, though [[FanService the women's uniforms]] are [[SensualSpandex more form-fitting than the men's,]] especially in the [[PaintedOnPants buttocks area,]] [[MaleGaze which we see plenty of.]] Dhianeila takes this trope UpToEleven; her ''entire outfit'' looks like it's painted on.

* ImprovisedWeapon: The Silver Tribe go UpToEleven with this when they improvise a ''planet'' as a weapon. [[spoiler:After the human fleet ignites a fusion reaction in Jupiter's atmosphere with an [[ColonyDrop Io drop]], the Silver Tribe ships (along with a horde of Bronze soldiers) deploy their DeflectorShields as one immense barrier...and then push, compressing a big chunk of Jupiter's atmosphere, accelerating the fusion and turning ''the entire planet'' into a giant ''thermonuclear bomb.'']] The result is somewhat unpleasant for the human fleet.

** Another example (in deep red) is every frenzied Heroic Tribe member: Their aura becomes red, they grow way stronger, and sometimes, well... [[UpToEleven Episode 25]].

* RapunzelHair: Yuty & Prome O take this to the extreme -- their hair is longer than they are tall (despite, in Prome's case, said hair being tied back). In fact, long hair for men seems to be the fashion amongst members of the Silver Tribe.
** Of the other Nodos, Lecty is hardly likely to suffer from a cold neck.

* FeelingOppressedByTheirExistence: The fact that the Iron Tribe, a race thought to be young, weak, and inferior, was granted the most powerful Nodos by the Golden Tribe, deeply offended the Silver Tribe. To that end, they made it their goal to wipe out the entire Iron Tribe.

* HegemonicEmpire: Despite styling themselves as benevolent guardians of space, no one is under any illusion that this is what the Silver Tribe is. Other races must abide by their laws and decrees, and any attempt to defy them invites summoning a Bronze Tribe fleet, or worse, one of the Nodos.

* HufflepuffHouse: The Bronze Tribe; they are given the least amount of development out of all the major races, mostly serving as TheUsualAdversaries for the Argonaut.

* MoralMyopia: The Silver Tribe condemns the Iron Tribe as savage barbarians, especially after they destroy Jupiter (which is uninhabited save for a Bronze Tribe outpost). However, it's made clear the Silver Tribe has no issue wiping out entire races themselves if their authority is ever questioned.

* SlaveRace: Though this wasn't necessarily what the Golden Tribe intended, it's what the Nodos ended up being for the other races. For the Silver Tribe, they are simply LivingWeapons to be called up and dismissed on command, with the exception of Yuty, who herself is part of the Silver Tribe, and commands the rest of them. Similarly, though more well-intentioned, the Iron Tribe used to think the same way about Age, though they soften more over time.

* TheJuggernaught: The Heroic Tribe were essentially the second most powerful race in the galaxy, after the Golden Tribe, and the Nodos that possess their power are capable of wiping out entire fleets on their own with little effort. The only thing that can potentially challenge a Nodos is another Nodos.

* HufflepuffHouse: The Bronze Tribe; they are given the least amount of development out of all the major races, mostly serving as the UsualAdversaries for the Argonaut.

* {{Kaiju}}: The Heroic Tribe is basically comprised of this. Giant Space Monsters. One looks like an insect, another a shark, and a third has no mouth or eyes at all. Makes you wonder how they breed... Though judging from their mechanic sounds, they may not be entirely organic.

* ProudWarriorRace: The Heroic Tribe were described as being this, with their lust for conquest and battle leading to the destruction of their own world, amongst others. Part of the reason the Golden Tribe sealed the remaining members in weaker races was so that they could learn emotions such as compassion and kindness.

** The Bronze Tribe was also essentially this for the Silver Tribe, serving as {{Mooks}} to enforce latter's will on the rest of the galaxy. For their troubles, the Bronze Tribe is later abandoned during the Iron Tribe's invasion of their homeworld, with the Silver Tribe not so much as lifting a finger to help them; in spite of this, the Bronze Tribe still continues to loyally serve them. And though it's not shown in detail [[spoiler: the ending indicates they essentially end up being this for the Iron Tribe as well]]. [[note]] It's implied that the Bronze Tribe functions and interacts only the Silver Tribe can understand, which is how they control them. [[/note]]
