Booba is a silent comedy cartoon which first aired in Russia in 2014.

The show concerns a creature called Booba as he explores the world around him. Booba is a curious creature and he has a habit of getting into mischief. In spite of it all, however, he usually turns out okay in the end. He isn't usually alone in these endeavours however, as he is accompanied by a cast which includes Loola the Rat, Noodle the Caterpillar, Googa (a.k.a. Mr. Beak) the Parrot, and Spike the Hedgehog.

The show has a dedicated Youtube channel which can be found here.

Examples:

  • Accessory-Wearing Cartoon Animal: Loola the Rat is a Rat who wears glasses on her face and nothing else.
  • Automatic Door Malfunction: In "Supermarket", Booba tries to leave the supermarket, but the automatic doors leading out refuse to open for them. The doors themselves seem to be sentient, having picked up that he was trying to grab a block of cheese without paying, and even seems to be laughing at his misfortune. It isn't until he exercises the cheese away that they open up.
  • Cartoon Creature: Just what is Booba meant to be exactly? Perhaps the best way of describing him is that he looks like a cross between an old man and a rat.
  • Dagwood Sandwich: In "Burger", Booba is inspired by a photo of an extremely tall sandwich to make his own, although he is hindered by such issues such as a horde of ants taking away his food. He manages to achieve his goal at the end, although it only holds up long enough to allow him to take a photo of it before it breaks apart.
  • Early Installment Character-Design Difference: Boobah has bigger pupils in his earlier appearances. He also has visible claws during this period, although they soon go away.
  • Egg McGuffin: The plot of "Toy Store" centres around Booba and Loola finding an egg in a toy store. Chaos ensures when they fear that it will hatch into something horrific. Luckily, it doesn't - it instead hatches into a cute baby dragon who imprints on them.
  • Grocery Store Episode: The plot of "Supermarket", where Booba ends up in a supermarket and has to deal with stuff such as the automatic store doors not recognizing him.
  • High-Dive Hijinks: In "Nursery", Booba decides to dive into the ball pool. After a normal first dive, he gets the idea to rewind time using a remote so that he can perform more elaborate stunts as he's hurtling down, including reading a newspaper and juggling the balls. Afterwards, he even rates himself.
  • Mime and Music-Only Cartoon: Aside from grunting noises from the characters, the shorts have no dialogue whatsoever.
  • No Focus on Humans: Humans apparently do exist in the setting of the series, but aside from a brief glimpse of their shadows in the first episode, they have made no physical appearance whatsoever.
  • Proscenium Reveal: The plot of "Spaceship" seems to take place in an actual spaceship, with Booba having to deal with anti-gravity shenanigans and an Asteroid Thicket. It's not until it seems that he's doomed to die to such an asteroid that Loola shows up and takes him outside for ice cream, revealing the whole thing to have been a playground ride all along.
  • Sudden Name Change: The parrot character is initially called Googa in the earlier seasons. However, starting with Season 3, he has been renamed to Mr. Beak for no apparent reason. This was also done for the hedgehog and caterpillar who were Soosa and Dooda respectively and are now Spike and Noodle.
  • Trademark Favourite Food: Cheese for Booba, with a fair amount of his appearances involving trying to grab his hands on wheels of them. One of his happier dreams even has him lounging on an island made of the stuff!
  • Trapped in TV Land: The plot of "Video Game", where a mishap involving ice cream leads to Booba becoming trapped in a video game dedicated to making sweets. At the end of the episode though, Booba falls asleep in the middle of the ice cream-making round and wakes up in the real world. To show that it actually happened, he has a little teddy bear biscuit from the round in his mouth.
  • Treadmill Trauma: In "Fitness Club", Booba encounters a treadmill at a fitness club. Already struggling, his attempts to reach for a drink just lead him to go even faster. He soon gets the hang of it, but he doesn't quite reach the bottle until the end... at which point he's ejected from the treadmill with the bottle following behind several seconds later.
