Moving on to Hau'oli City, Luna stops in the Pokemon Center to transfer her demo items over and rage over the fickleness of RNG as she tries to soft-reset for a good natured Ash-Greninja.
After getting frustrated and quitting, the Trainer School is the next location to go after a Tauros menaces passersby. Kukui gives us the EXP Share, which is much appreciated because Magarine only has Harden. He then tells us to beat some kids here, including a Youngster named Joey... who doesn't have a Rattata.
Now that's what I call heresy.
After catching a Magnemite (with a decent nature) named Carrera, Luna receives a Quick Claw inside of the school, which is a terrible item that only is even useful when the CPU is using it to violate you unspeakably in postgame battles.
After beating all of the scrub trainers, Rising Star Joseph was actually pretty tough, mainly due to Grimer hitting decently hard and also triggering Poison Touch on every single attack.

Yooge faints for the second time, but I get a TM for Work Up, so it's all cool.
Lillie comes over and we're called to the office on the PA. Lillie wonders what we horrible thing we did and... well...
"So you DID do something!"

Before heading inside, Yooge is switched out of the party in exchange for an Alolan Meowth (M) named Nermal.

Emily is beaten without much trouble, though it is a bit of a slog due to her two Pokemon outspeeding everything on this team and having nothing super effective to damage Magnemite with.
Afterwards, Kukui and Ilima show up, the latter being a young bo- ...gir-... ... ...T-Trial Captain. They invite us to their trial at the Verdant Cavern.
Everyone at the school then says goodbye, with Joseph telling us to use that TM. Unneeded advice given that I've put it onto at least four Pokemon since I got it.
Lillie takes Luna for a walk and says the typical "WOW, YOU'RE SO GREAT AT CONTROLLING POKEMON I AM AMAZED AND YOUR FRIEND" stuff, and then we find Hau and Hala partying with the Tauros from before. Luna pats Tauros on the head and then it leaves with Hala while Hau dances some more.
And so we head to Hau'oli.
"It's too slow to get confused... or to take a hint. Leave me alone already, would you, Slowpoke?" says a random girl on the beach.
Anyway, after looting some places, Hau shows up, apparently having memorized the sound of Luna's footsteps. That's not creepy at all.
Many things occur! The gist of it is
- Luna takes pictures of a Pikachu, and then several Rockruff and Growlithe, boosting her Pokefinder level to 3.
- From there, she then gets a makeover and removes her silly hat.
- Pokebeans are acquired from a cafe after a drink of Roserade Tea and Pinap Juice.
- Finally, she catches a Hocus/Abra (M), which has a Modest Nature! Showing it to a man in the Pokefinder Bureau also shows she has 10 species caught, earning her 10 Ultra Balls.
After that, some people near the Pokemon Center drop exposition about a group of people called Team Skull.
I doubt that'll ever be relevant to us.
Heading to Ilima's house, we learn he really likes Lumiose Galettes due to studying abroad in Kalos. Neat.
We then feed Nermal a sweet malasada because his evolution is friendship based.
From there, we head to the marina to meet Ilima.
But suddenly, a pair of rappers suddenly show up! ...And are promptly ignored!
And promptly begin posturing hostilely while playing boombox music!
"Why you trying to act hard when we're already hard as bone out here, homie?" says one of the rappers as he gets all up in Ilima's grill.
"Yo, let's check these fools," growls the other.
"YEAAAAAH!" agrees the music.
Ilima decides to battle one while Luna takes the other, the text box revealing these rappers to belong to Team Skull. Sounds like a good name for a record company.
Carrera makes short work of his Zubat while he gets crunk, or whatever the kids are doing nowadays.
After that, the two run off, leaving Luna to battle against Ilima after a quick heal.
And... he has the same music as regular trainers?
That's stupid.
After beating him and his Smeargle which hits freakishly hard what the actual fuck, Ilima suggests we follow him to Route 2 to undergo his trial.
Sure, why not?
