Jerry, evidently speaking on Thomas' behalf, vows to continue the story.
Jerry's group heads to the coliseum, where he encounters the (understandably) disturbing sight of Christians being nailed to "corpses" and burned alive. He's disgusted, but is forced to swallow his vomit to avoid blowing his cover, declaring himself a martyr to his own cause.
Jerry tells his followers that they will enter the enemy lair and soon go into great danger. Ebony asks to pray for Annabeth,, and Jerry tells her to hurry. Ebony then asks for Jesus to protect Annabeth.
Annabeth is surprisingly well-armored for a gladiator, wearing a suit of black armor. She and Jerry apparently have an Unspoken Plan Guarantee going, and she prepares to fight, as John Lennon declares that the battle will begin.
Annabeth's opponent is a "satanic bitch", apparently refuting the idea that only Christians fight in the arena. Perhaps it's to give the crowd someone to root for; they jeer at her in hopes of distracting her and enabling her opponent to kill her. They even go so far as to claim that Annabeth had sex with her priest, and Jerry even takes the time to point out in his narration that this is untrue; Annabeth was a prostitute in the past, but not anymore.
Annabeth and her opponent are whacking each other with clubs, and that doesn't get them anywhere until the opponent pulls out a knife and slits Ebony's throat, killing her. Suddenly, a woman arrives, kills Annabeth's opponent too late to save her, and then points a gun at John Lennon, telling him to Prepare to Die, evidently finishing him off by the next chapter starts.
Who is the woman? It's none other than Jerry's wife, Mary, whom we haven't seen since midway through The Evil Gods Part 1.
