BWTW Chapter 7: Lines Satanists Won't Cross

Written By: Thomas
Proofread By: Ebony
POV: Michael

The chapter begins with a complaint about Idiosy, as well as more assertions that the author is not breaking any rules and that he is doing this for the good of all Christians. He says England is turning away from God, and must repent lest it be punished for a few people's sinning.

Michael comes to Ginny's room, and Ginny informs him that she'll be having other company tonight- Harry Potter and "Ron Weakling," who are gay lovers. Naturally, Michael wants to kill them and send them to Hell. Wanting to find a reason to "publish" the two, Michael steps inside.

Harry and Ron are already inside, reading the Satanic Bible, and Michael is overwhelmed with the urge to burn the book, but he resists it, so that he doesn't end up blowing his cover.

But if Harry and Ron are homosexuals, what about Ginny? She says she has sex with Harry, but not with Ron, because that would be Brother-Sister Incest and "Even Satanists have standards."

A word about the Even Evil Has Standards trope. It can be used in a variety of ways, and one of the most notable is to add a bit of depth and moral complexity to a villain(particularly in stories in which [[Grey-and-Gray Morality it's hard to tell . Since such things are anathema to Thomas and Ebony Brown, this use obviously wasn't intended, and the only thing this purpose seems to accomplish is to show that Ginny knows that she's evil, a bit of self-consciousness you don't see much outside of Saturday morning cartoon villains.

Michael has evidently had enough in spite of having just arrived. Again, the fic has an odd sense of time, tightly compressing events to get through the story as quickly as possible. Michael reads the Book of Kings to rebuild his strength, and hopes to hear from Jerry soon.

Next Installment: Michael and his colleagues address the Christians at Hogwarts.
