MLLSD Chaptr 32: Mother of the Year

Shiho watches a recording of the finals match, which seems a bit odd when you think about it, considering that she watched it in person. She pauses at Miho and Maho's handshake, and muses that if Miho and Maho ended up fighting, she clearly failed to communicate with her daughters. Shiho's conclusion is sound, but there weren't any hard feelings in the battle, and the handshake was a sign of good sportsmanship, rather than reconciliation.

Shiho picks up a book about "how to get along with your daughter," and starts reading, finding that the first tip is "moderate skinship." She then walks up to Maho, who's doing what looks like schoolwork, and Maho greets with her with "What is it, Okaa-sama?" Interestingly enough, while Maho uses the very formal "Okaa-sama" on Shiho, Miho uses the less formal "Okaa-san" (which, depending on the series, might be translated as "Mom"). Shiho then affectionate pats Maho, resulting in her being disheveled with a perplexed expression on her face.

Next up is a "moderate allowance," which, for someone as wealthy as Shiho, means giving Maho an expenses card. Maho then calls Erika, suggesting that she's been kicked out of the house. Erika asks what's happened, but gets no answer as Shiho's next move, playing with her, which constitutes the two of them going against 30 tanks. Erika rushes over to check on Maho, but Shiho decides to show Erika, as one of Maho's friends, "moderate" hospitality, and so serves her a full-course meal over her protests. With Erika stuffed, Shiho decides to move on to Miho, who's a bit reluctant to come back and even more so when she sees the welcome waiting for her, resulting in her quickly escaping and becoming traumatized.

It's an interesting change of pace, and quite amusing to see someone like Shiho actually being a good parent for once (I suspect her excesses here are due to being so out of touch with the concept, and possibly to a lesser extent due to being a Nishizumi), but I'd personally like to see some more screentime and Character Development for Shiho in a spinoff that has a more serious tone.

Next Installment: To be determined.
