(In the present day, the remaining All-Stars are gathered in Catherine's Mariner Bay, trying to make sense on what's going on. After becoming a bit acquainted to the Aquabase, several of the All-Stars, led by Mao and Jason, try to track the source of the time vortex.)

Alex: Is it me, or is someone really trying to break us?

Mao: I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Mako: But who would want to do that?

Mao: Considering the circumstances? Everyone.

(Mako becomes silent, and Agri is a bit horrified)

Agri: Everyone?

Mao: Yeah. Power-hungry villains, complete monsters who only care about themselves, and likely petty thieves. You know, the usual gamut of villains we all faced, both in the shows we've starred in and real-life.

Naoki: Now that's just not fair!

Mao: Life isn't fair in general. (shrugs)

(as Mako turns to the screen, Sean and Catherine join them, the latter recovering from her shock)

Sean: (in a more mechanical voice) Well, guys, looks like we may be dealing with something quite impossible. Or was previously thought to be impossible. By doing the research, Delu-Knight was "controlled"—for a lack of a better term—several times.

Alex: How?

Sean: By the plot. And with this whole bullshit about someone taking three of our allies...

Catherine: Needless to say, we think these events may be related.

Xander: What?! Look. I've been controlled against my will once! Some of us were! I don't want that to happen again!

Mao: We all don't.

Sean: Unless if the mastermind is sadistic—which I hope to God he isn't, I doubt they'll control us. Only if they have to.

We need to hurry this up before anything dumber happens. We'll need to look for more clues!

(as Mao, Sean and Catherine look at the monitors, Jason watches Hikonin Sentai Akibaranger. Which Catherine herself notices)

Catherine: What's that?

Jason: Research.

(In the future, the quartet try to make their plans)

Ayumi: So we're going there not only because of some save haven, but to also find out what's happening in this world?

Michael: Yes. I don't know what it's like, but the outside world...to be honest, I don't like the looks of it.

Tori: And what if your hometown's just as bad?

In fact, come to think of it, I haven't seen any dangers here! Yeah, there's no civilization in this wasteland, but—

(she then realizes something)

Someone's giving us a false sense of security, but who?

Rika: I have no idea. But I know one thing. Some places have kind people. I'm sure there would be one person kind enough to take us in.

(she looks at the road ahead)

Since we have a bit farther ahead, shall we continue?

(the others nod, and they walk on...)

So! Previously—

(they look at her)

Ayumi: Really?

Rika: Ever heard of some stories where the travellers share tales to pass the time?

Tori: Yeah, I remember! Like when we read a horrible story once!

Rika: I'm doing the same thing.

So! Previously, TK and Kari got hitched, Davis got shitfaced, and the title character got run over. (And the car that ran him over exploded for whatever reason. Okay, the engine did, but...)

Let's continue on with...

Chapter 2: Save Him

Ayumi: Looks like the chapter begins with the news of the accident spreading quickly. I wonder just how they were able to see that...

Rika: Maybe the news crew was nearby? Maybe the crew reporting it is TMZ?

(Ayumi blinks)

For all of their...ahem, reputations, per se, as one of the sleaziest celebrity gossip news crews ever, they have been rather quick to report a few stories in the past.

But anyway. Everyone watches the footage of Davis being transferred to the hospital.

"There once again the sad footage we've been watching all day." Said the reporter, "A beloved visionary who had turned q single noodle-cart into a global empire chain of success, and renowned greatest Digi Destined… Daisuke Motomiya, estimated to die at age 27."

Fucking what? The story says he's Davis, so why use his Japanese name? And as we'll soon see, this is the first of many, many, many inconsistencies.

Secondly, despite the age change (from "estimated to die at age 27"—yeah, I don't get it—to 28), the same damn news report is later re-used in another Digimon fanfic, "Depression".

Tori: Isn't that lazy?

Rika: Eeyup.

Meanwhile, a man overhears the news. Who is he? He's Yami Ninji, the owner of Ninji's Noodles, Davis' rival company.

And how do I know that he's the villain? First, he's spoiled in the summary. Secondly, would you trust someone named "Yami"? (And no, Yami Yugi technically doesn't count, since his real name is "Atem".)

Also, we're told that he's very greedy and jealous. Why? Davis made more in a month than he did in a few years' time. You know, "that'' old chestnut. Ever since then, some of his employees have left him, causing his stock to go down.

With his rival facing certain death, what does Yami do? Hope for Davis to kick the bucket so he can get his fame back and take control of his rival's company. And steal the secret recipes. Because he's a dick.

Ayumi: At the hospital, Jun and Joe try to revive Davis, but...it's no use. Not only has he been hit, but the alcohol has taken its toll.

Rika: So remember, kids: always assign a designated driver.

Everyone, Digimon and their partners alike, gather in the waiting room. Even Kari and TK. The former then realizes just why it all happened. Um...

Gatomon, Kari's partner Digimon, says that it tops whatever other crazy stuff he's done. As...not nice as it was, in a way, she's also right. Dude's so obsessed to the point where...you know, I just wonder why he truly didn't let Kari go. There's true love, and then there's this.

Hawkmon (who, by the way, is voiced by Diabolico's voice actor, Neil Kaplan, in the dub) reminds Gatomon how Davis drinks when he's depressed, and Matt—

Matt: "Should I kill her—"

(Rika interrupts the sudden clip)

Rika: NO, NOT THAT ONE!

(Michael is remembering some of his fondest moments with the Other)

Anyway, Digi!Matt makes a quip about how it wouldn't surprise him if Davis drowned. God, really? And these are supposed to be his friends?

TK and Kari blame themselves for something they didn't do, and Joe arrives for the bad news. Namely, there's nothing they can do. As Tentomon mentions how his shell is filled with sadness—no, really—this gives Izzy an idea.

You see, he has a lab, and the researchers have looked at the Digital World. They, coincidentally, want to find a way to save people if they were involved in situations like that. Which is kinda contrived, I mean...

So what do they do? They start a project to use mind uploading, and do that into a new body. Artificial, mechanical ones. As interesting as the idea sounds, especially with the part where there are design flaws, why not just remove him from the lower jaw down, keeping the spine intact, graft that shit into a cyborg body, and hope for the best?

The Digi-Destined decide to do it, and over the next few days, Davis is rebuilt. After saving his mind, the scientists extract the bones and organs and place in mechanical joints. Wait, what the hell? How can that...

And so, this chapter ends with the rebuilding complete, the mind transfer in place. Also? Davis is now part-android. And is called that throughout.

Then why call it "Cyborg Davis" when you can't stick to the...species, I guess?

The Author's Notes then has this.

"I don't like killing Davis,"

Suuuuure you don't. Then try explaining why you killed him off five fucking times.

"(...)unless its final that he won't ever end up with Kari. That's the way my Dakari's roll. Davis either ends up with Kari... or ends up dead!"

And blame Kari in the process, even when Davis is just as guilty. If not moreso. Even if she does nothing wrong. Hell, even if she spills a drink, she probably would suffer the same fate, considering how fucked up you are!

(Michael then turns to Rika)

Michael: I was under a life-threatening situation once. I remember two people attacking me, and after the battle, I was under so much pain, I ended up becoming a cyborg ninja. It was a last-ditch effort to save my life...

Rika: Damn...

(The quartet finally arrives in the city, and they look around for a safe haven)

Will they manage to find shelter? What dangers await them? And what other things will Rika find wrong?
